b) The theory i like to entertain: Upon the founding of the Ninth House, Jod or Anastasia decided that Bone Titties would be part of traditional Ninth House Tombkeeper garb. We know that Harrow loves traditions almost as much as she loves bones. She adores the human skeletal form—she would not have embellished a traditional ribcage-shaped corset by choosing bone titties herself; she'd see tits on a skeleton as completely useless extra appendages. She is likely wearing a corset that has been passed down the Tombkeeper's Line for generations upon generations... possibly making the corset's designer the original Tombkeeper, or worse: the original None House Left Grief guy who thought it'd be hilarious if his death cult had boob armor as part of their outfits.

Seriously though, the moment when these two gigantic lizards turn to you, clearly having known the entire time that you are right there eavesdropping on their convo - while you and the dolphin are sneaking behind some rock or whatever, feeling like clever little hobbitsies - without any shift, just casually - is one of the scariest moments in the game for me.

so I've got some In Stars and Time thoughts. spoilers up to act 3 I think. I'm on pause as we SPEAK.

1. mirabelle my beloved. I love her story re: romance and how she Doesn't Want It but feels forced to have it and, loving her religion so much, just can't fathom leaving it for JUST THAT even though it makes her so uncomfortable and feel so bad. like I love the resolution tbh with how Siffrin just sort of tells her to Change by Changing the tradition instead of by forcing herself into it, the way she once told him housemaidens did sometimes (if re: clothes in that instance). it's just really cute.

2. I also love how you can kind of make a contrast between her not wanting to change bc she's so happy the way she is and this conflicting with her Change beliefs, and Isa joining the House of Change because he WANTED to change; Mira is happy with herself/at odds with the House's traditions, and Isa is at odds with himself/happy following the House's traditions.

3. I SWEAR TO GOD I'M SIMULTANEOUSLY PUSHED BY THE URGE TO COMPLETE THE GAME ROMANCE INCLUDED, AND MY COMPLETE AND UTTER DISGUST OF ROMANCE BEING DIRECTED AT ME/THE GUY I'M PLAYING AS. EVERY TIME I'M ALONE WITH ISABEAU I'M SHAKING WITH FEAR HE'LL GO ALL ROMANCEY ON SIFFRIN AND I'LL JUST HAVE TO PAINSTAKINGLY SIT THROUGH IT AND MAYBE EVEN SAY YES. I'D GO INSANE. compulsion to avoid romance vs compulsion to absorb all gameplay available. immovable object vs unstoppable force. fight

4. i don't think the head housemaiden is a real person within the game. either that or she's responsible for the time loops and even the king. and definitely the island. I can feel at least one of these things is true in my BONES. she's just too nice and too respected with too much authority. and also she didn't fight the king herself which is a red flag.

but we'll see I guess! I'm really liking the game thus far. might even draw about it

okay I don't watch house of the dragon or even game of thrones. I don't know shit abt this guy other than he's popular in the fandom. But what I know is, if I see people body shaming the man for being thin. I WILL run you over with my car.

one of the reasons this bothers me so much is because a main point of the MCU's attraction for me is the puzzle piece aspect. It brings me a lot of delight to see how inter-connected the MCU is and how much of it is based on cause and effect, particularly in Phases 1-3. I have a great time tracing plot, character, and worldbuilding elements through multiple films, and in this particularly instance, CATFA is foundational in a way that most of the other Phase 1 films aren't. So for me, seeing it just thrown out the window without any understanding of the place it plays in the saga is like nails on chalkboard, and it means that the CCverse's divergent worldbuilding raises questions that aren't answered simply by the original divergence.

(like, Natasha's backstory with Melina actually ties back to CATFA -- the Widow family is in Ohio to steal the Hydra-infiltrated SHIELD North Institute's work on the human brain that comes from the Winter Soldier project. CCverse got rid of the Hydra infiltration and the Winter Soldier. CCverse confirms that Natasha has familial relationships with both Melina (2.05) and Alexei (1.09), but they can't come from the same source as they do in canon because those elements no longer exist in that universe. However, they haven't been replaced with anything, and they exist only under extremely specific circumstances in canon.)

my enduring hatred for the Captain Carter universe is partially based on the fact that it's really, really clear that when constructing it no one actually thought about how much of the mainline MCU is based on events that happened in CATFA (or are otherwise connected to elements of CATFA) and would not occur if literally anything in CATFA changed.
