BOLD Holidays: Raising Disaster Relief funds with the generous, glorious community of Beverly Hills

A few nights ago on Rodeo Drive, I emceed an evening with thousands of friends where our City of Beverly Hills community came together to not only enjoy our annual Holiday Lighting Celebration, but also to initiate a season of giving. As we launched another season of #BOLDbh festive programming and activations for our community, we also came together to support our neighboring communities in crisis, and to thank our brave and fearless first responders who were out all across California saving lives and homes as we were all gathered together. A mere thank you from me on the microphone, our mayor, city council and chamber of commerce did not seem like nearly enough for the sacrifice these heroes and their families are making. So, when Santa arrived with a very special gift for the American Red Cross @RedCrossLA from our community, it still didn’t seem like enough, but it seemed like a good start. For in the 24 hours leading up to the evening, our local businesses of @RodeoDrive & residents and businesses of @CityBH had raised over $126,000 to give to the relief efforts of the tragedies of the past few weeks. And, we’re not stopping there - so we hope you’ll join us. Let’s make this holiday season a season of giving, community and kindness. That truly is what the holidays are all about. Thank you to everyone who joined us, for everyone who gave generously and to all of you who have been inspired by the evening to give. Rodeo Drive BOLD Holiday kickoff, Sharing the Joy

Well, I know it’s gonna be a beautiful first day of Beverly Hills #BOLDbh when my day begins with my #BOLDbh partners, @CityBH Mayor Gold and the @RodeoDrive Committee President, Kathy Gohari. And, it will come as no surprise to any of you that I showed up at 8 am with a batch of gingerbread men cookies in tow.😂 We are so excited to see you tonight at 5 pm for our annual #BOLDbh Holiday Lighting Celebration, where I’ll be hosting and emceeing all the fun, and we all look forward to sharing the warmth, friendship, hope and community that the three of us share with all of you. We’ll have live music, dancing, artistic activations and photo opps (hello, Instagram!), and even a visit from Santa. Even with all of that holiday joy, what I’m most excited about is seeing how our community comes together to celebrate with one another while also donating anything we can to our neighbors affected by the recent tragedies. Kicking off BOLD Beverly Hills Season with some BIG giving and fundraising for the California Fires

Friends, I am so honored to announce that I will be the Host & Emcee once again for the City of Beverly Hills & Rodeo Drive Committee celebration tomorrow night at 5 pm on Rodeo Drive as we kickoff BOLD Holidays 2018. If there’s one thing that I’ve seen through my 4 consecutive BOLD campaigns with Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, it is this: Beverly Hills is truly a community that cares - a family - and, not only a family that cares, but one that carries through with action when our community-at-large is in need. That’s why it warms my heart to announce that this annual beloved holiday community event tomorrow night will be a heart-centered vehicle to raise funds and support relief efforts for our sisters and brothers affected by the California wildfires. After all, the holiday season is all about giving and in Beverly Hills, we feel compelled to kick off our holiday season by helping our neighbors and friends in this time of crisis. We are all part of a greater community, and as such, we must lead with our hearts this holiday season more than ever before, and do our part as both individuals and as a community. So, join me tomorrow to be at one with our community and to get into the holiday - and, giving season - spirit! Enjoy music from electro hip-hop violinist & America’s Got Talent contestant, Svet, and a specially curated 20-piece #BOLDbh band, which will be playing a mix of holiday favorites and decades’ hits. Mom Holiday

Like mother, like daughter? HARDLY. Ask anyone who knows us well - and, while they'll say they love us, they'll also say that you'll never meet a more different mother and daughter. She's like a dry-witted, super-smart, introverted and independent Diane Keaton. I'm like, ummm...well, comment below on who I remind you of because I can't think of it right now. But, needless to say, I am NOT those things that she is. As an accountant and accounting professor, she likes the things she can see. Things that can be proven. Evidence. Numbers. Facts. I hold my faith in the unseen. The inexplicable. The lights that I see that mean something else is out there. Stars in the skies. Stars in my eyes. And, all of that. Yep. We're different. But, last night on Rodeo Drive, our differences melted away as we celebrated the joys of the holiday season. We began with a photo session at Two Rodeo Driveand then headed over to St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery - Napa Valley for a wine tasting. Next, as fellow music lovers, we listened to the melodies of Mpact Music and then ended our Beverly Hills #BOLDholidays evening with a burger and vino at @ThePeninsulaBH where my mom was hit on by a man. And, she didn't even notice. In this one way, we are the same. We are oblivious to the flirting of men.😂 Tonight, I'm headed back to @rodeodrive to boogie the night away with DJ @jennyalbright and celebrate the lights of this city I love one more time. And, while I dance, Mom will be quietly sitting, shaking her head, laughing, marveling at how she got a child who couldn't be more different from her. A girl whose glass is always half-full. Who has never met a stranger. Who sometimes is much "too much" with the joy factor. And, then she'll shake her head once more...and smile...and, remember: She PRAYED for this child. For the curly brunette with brown eyes and BIG personality. And, maybe she'll never understand her but she'll always know that - much like Christmas gifts - wishes and prayers come in unexpected packaging. And, you'd better be ready for whatever is inside - because unlike Christmas gifts, fulfilled wishes and prayers? Well, my honeys, they can't be returned. — with Clarice McCoy at Rodeo Drive.

Be right where you are

In Christmas cards - as in social media - we can all have the luxury of looking "perfect." Seamless. Perfectly put together with every hair in place, every word uttered at the exact right moment...every photo edited and accompanied by the perfect caption for the perfect social media impression.

But in real life, things happen. We trip. We fall. (See the next video for proof of that in my life 🙈🙈) We cry. We anger. We feel sensitive. We feel raw. We are misunderstood. We miscommunicate. We don't respond in the manner we would like to. We make decisions that aren't the best ones for us in the long run. We don't heed the warnings. We don't listen to our instincts. And, we are consistent only in that we are perfectly imperfect.

As this is the last weekend of #BOLDholidays in Beverly Hills, California this weekend, I want to personally invite you to come join me in a close-to-perfect winter wonderland where we get to forget all of the falls of 2017, and listen to the melodic harmonies of M-PACT Music Group (tonight!!) and dance our cares away to Jenny Albright (tomorrow!!), solely living in the moment of now.

While it's easy to focus on what did or didn't go right this past year, and jump ahead to what our resolutions should be in the new year, there is a magic in the moment of right now just waiting for us to enjoy it in all of its klutzy, perfectly imperfect wonder.

So, tonight, you'll find Mom and I on Rodeo Drive, strolling on the street, listening to Christmas tunes, shopping in the stores, enjoying a sweet snack, and checking out the brilliant holiday lights - and, rounding out the night with a little light dinner at The Peninsula Beverly Hills.

My only goal for the upcoming holidays this year? To live in the moment, unwind, relax, recharge and restore. That...and, to forgive myself and others, and feel gratitude that I get to be the oh-so-perfectly imperfect best version of myself at any given time.

I invite you to do the same. It will not only free you but it will bring you more joy than you could ever ask Santa for.
