Trust the Creative Voice Inside and Just Be You... Even on Rodeo Drive

I grew up in Dallas with professor parents who wanted me to be a lawyer...and, as such, hated that being social and creative meant more to me than making good grades. Instead, I am now “me” for a living, and spend my Saturday night with the Mayor of Beverly Hills @goldjmd and the President of the Rodeo Drive Committee @katkat7000 - the three of us getting illustrated by @FIDM & @ProjectRunway’s talented Nick Verreos on Rodeo in celebration of #BOLDbh.

As much as I love and respect my parents, I’m glad I didn’t trust their dreams for me, and chose instead to trust my own dreams and believe in a bigger vision.

Life can be more than you ever dreamed and greater than you could ever expect if you just trust in the creative process, work hard even when you don’t feel like working, and believe in magic and purpose. Collaborations and Lots of Cake

Oh, they say you can’t have your cake and eat it too. I’ve never understood that adage... and, “they” certainly didn’t ever know me. No, for the past month of Beverly Hills #BOLDbh on Rodeo Drive and the past weekend of Los Angeles Food & Wine, I feel like I’ve been doing just that - having my cake and indeed, eating it, too. 🍰 With @lafoodwine last weekend - brought to us by this guy here, my buddy David Alan Bernahl - I enjoyed 4 days of delicious food, wines I love, new-to-me wines, old friends coming together in fellowship, and new friends experiencing an entirely new experience with their first Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival. As my @DawnMcCoyMedia team is currently busy tabulating the social media impact created from our end of the event from our kickoff party at #LouisVuittonRodeoDrive, I’m reminiscing and tabulating the memories and new faces that came into my life because of it, yet again for another year. This year’s @lafoodwine brought new friends, new partners/collaborators into my life, new followers here and new clients I’ve been enjoying conference calls with these past few days after we all had time to recover from the decadence of it all. When I raised a glass to Dave - and the festival - at our kickoff a few Thursdays ago, I say what I always say: “This event is one of the best places to meet people. In the past, I have left with love interests, business contacts, good friends & epic leisurely summer days with no end with those people.” As much as I love the food - and, the wine of course - it’s what I love most about the festival. 💗 So, as I head out on a “walk & talk” conference call this early Saturday morning in Beverly Hills with one of those aforementioned new clients, I want to thank @dbernahl for creating a space in which culinary treasures, vineyard visionaries, foodie fanatics and Hollywood creatives can co-mingle in a delicious, elevated camp-like space. There’s truly no place else like it. Now, onto planning my first trip to Pebble Beach Food & Wine this spring... **also, a VERY special note of thanks to Hansen Cakes for that gorgeous cake and to Jason Rhee of Rheefined Company Weddings + Special Events for stepping in & designing a beautiful & impactful event. — with David Alan Bernahl and Jason Rhee at Louis Vuitton.

Farewell to Summer of Bold Beverly Hills, until the Holidays!

On Saturday night, as we bid farewell to my second summer of #BOLDbh in Beverly Hills, Mayor Julian Gold re-introduced me to the citizens and shoppers of Beverly Hills over the loud speaker before calling me to the stage, saying, “Dawn’s been all over this city - she’s probably logged about 4 million miles of walking.”

Well, not exactly that much - but close, Mayor Gold.👌🏼😂 Standing there onstage with the leaders of Beverly Hills, clutching a bouquet of pastel posies in my arms, I’ve never felt like more of a pageant queen...and, I’m not the pageant type.👑

If not millions of miles, what I have logged is a lifetime of memories in my 3 #BOLDbh campaigns to date. From the opening night earlier this month, when I emceed the #BOLDbh kickoff where we had over 7000 attendees on Rodeo Drive to watching children jump up on the stage at the end of the firework show to hug me and sing with me... to hosting dance parties on Rodeo Drive with our BOLD djs at the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel -and hosting the LA Food & Wine Kickoff party on the terrace of Louis Vuitton...the memories I’ve made run longer than the miles I’ve accrued.

I have made new friends and deepened friendships from last summer and holiday. I have shopped in stores I’ve never before set foot in, and shopped in stores I’ve spent a major part of my LA life in.

I’ve indulged in decadent, delicious meals in the restaurants I love, and I’ve enjoyed a sloppy slice of pizza from one of the food trucks on the nights of BOLD.

Mostly, I have felt myself become a part of this community - so much so that I consider this community “my Beverly Hills family” - a family I intend to support and cheer on throughout the year.

It’s always bittersweet for me to say goodbye to all of the people who make this campaign possible, so I won’t. Instead I’ll say “See you soon” - because I have a feeling a #BOLDbh holiday season is right around the corner and will be here before we know it. As for you? Well, I’ll see YOU in Beverly Hills. And, I’d love to invite you ALL to the 2nd Annual Rodeo Drive BOLD Summer kickoff block party tomorrow, August 2 from 5-9 p.m. to celebrate with me, the mayor, city council and the leaders and citizens of Beverly Hills! Hospitality in Beverly Hills

The last weekend of Beverly Hills, California#BOLDholidays is upon us. As my first year to ever stay in California for the holidays, I'll be headed over to Rodeo Drive on Friday and Saturday with my family & friends to show them the gorgeous holiday extravaganza that is the Beverly Hills I know and love. Last night, my mom asked me, "Do I have to dress up this weekend for Beverly Hills?" It's a question I get asked...A LOT. The image of Beverly Hills - and the city it's sometimes portrayed as in Hollywood films - can sometimes be intimidating. And, while it IS a glamorous and luxurious, iconic place, I'm here to tell you that Beverly Hills is ANYTHING but intimidating. The holiday lights & Baccarat chandeliers shine the brightest as they line the streets. The citizens of Beverly Hills are the warmest. And, the shops and vendors are the most hospitable and eager to welcome new people. So, on this last weekend of #BOLDholidays, I welcome you and yours to come join me and mine for some Beverly Hills festive fun. On Friday, I'll be enjoying the deliciousness of the food trucks and Ladurée Beverly Hills macaron cart while I listen to the multi-leveled melodic sounds ofM-PACT Music Group, an acapella group that's sure to remind you & your family of the nostalgic days of yesteryear. I experienced them a few weeks ago and became as smitten as a kitten. And, on Saturday, I'll be getting into the groove with DJ Jenny Albright in front of the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel, doing my best to try to look as cool as possible while probably failing to do so.  So, come join me on Friday and Saturday, and get into the Beverly Hills groove. Holiday Parties galore

As a girl growing up in Dallas, I didn't know what was in store for me. Sure, I had big dreams of heading to California, but to get to have a last-minute birthday party at Louis Vuitton and getting to collaborate with the city of Beverly Hills, California and its forward-thinking mayor? Well, heck. I didn't know to dream THAT big.  It's like I always say - sometimes the reality can surpass our dreams if we are just brave enough to light that initial spark of a dream and set it in motion.

I want to thank everyone at Louis Vuitton and all of the generous folks there - and, friends - who made my small Friday night soirée on the terrace overlooking the #BOLDholidays lights of Rodeo a night I'll never forget. Like ever.

A big thank you, Landmark Vineyards for oodles of Chardonnay that paired nicely with all of that @louisvuitton luxury...and, cake. Special thanks to a first-time partner of mine - Lady & Larder for the most killer cheese and charcuterie board I've ever seen or tasted (and, whose leftovers came in super handy as I snacked in the car on the way to Palm Springs the next night). And, major thanks - as in it wouldn't have been possible - to @LouisVuitton's own Olimpia, @tlylebarnes @colclayton and Genesis who made the very last minute soirée run as smooth as that Louis Vuitton leather.

Nights like these are the ones that encourage this pie-eyed Texan girl to keep dreaming big. And, inspire me to keep sharing with you all so you'll dare to do the same. (scroll through for all of the fun from that night)
