Beat the Heat, in PJs & Palm Desert

With the kickoff of Beverly Hills BOLD just a few days away, Nick and I jetted down to the desert for some meetings and shoots before the colorful month of #BOLDbh begins on Thursday. Speaking of which...tomorrow I have some awfully exciting news to share about the kickoff night on Thursday that involves yours truly. Trust the Creative Voice Inside and Just Be You... Even on Rodeo Drive

I grew up in Dallas with professor parents who wanted me to be a lawyer...and, as such, hated that being social and creative meant more to me than making good grades. Instead, I am now “me” for a living, and spend my Saturday night with the Mayor of Beverly Hills @goldjmd and the President of the Rodeo Drive Committee @katkat7000 - the three of us getting illustrated by @FIDM & @ProjectRunway’s talented Nick Verreos on Rodeo in celebration of #BOLDbh.

As much as I love and respect my parents, I’m glad I didn’t trust their dreams for me, and chose instead to trust my own dreams and believe in a bigger vision.

Life can be more than you ever dreamed and greater than you could ever expect if you just trust in the creative process, work hard even when you don’t feel like working, and believe in magic and purpose. Looking Forward and Realizing Dreams in the midst of BOLD Holidays Beverly Hills

 15 years ago, I wore a wine-colored vintage t-shirt with holes in it, Uggs and a too-short-for-my-mother’s-Texan-taste corduroy skirt, on Rodeo in Beverly Hills, working for Barbra Streisand, shopping & running errands. And, on Thursday night, I donned a wine-hued, just-long-enough-for-my-mother’s-taste Tibi cocktail dress to host and emcee the Beverly Hills Lighting Celebration on Rodeo Drive to ...kickoff the holiday season and our annual #BOLDbh month of festive programming and activations. As I stood on the side of the stage, with my mic in hand - and a, little side helping of the nervous jitters - all I could think about was where that little girl from Texas - who used to dream of, well, pursuing her dreams in Beverly Hills - was standing: Looking out at thousands of people on @rodeodrive who would be smiling back at her and dancing within moments, and later surrounded by our heroes - our first responders, police chief and fire chief. I found myself thanking them, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our mayor, city council, Rodeo Drive committee president and chamber of commerce. I would ask how I got here in this kind-hearted, change-making, community-building company, but I know. It’s because I dreamed dreams bigger than my body or hometown could hold. It’s because I’ve been as kind, generous and helpful as possible to everyone I’ve met along the way. Because I worked hard even when people told me to give up even when - no ESPECIALLY when - I told myself to give up. And, because I just kept moving forward even when my legs, heart, confidence and spirit grew tired. Because my dreams? They never tired. They were the fuel that kept me forging on. Life is CRAZY. Life is beautiful. Life is crazy beautiful. And, she has such a sense of both synergy and humor. I hope we all find ourselves in this kind of moment - on our own respective “stages” - one day (hopefully, more days than just one), where we can feel deeply grateful for where we’ve come from, hopeful for where we’re going...and, able to just breathe in where we are right now in this exact moment. For a girl who dreamed of pursuing her dreams in Beverly Hills one day, it was truly a dream come true. #BOLDbh 📷: Nick Yedinak

BOLD Holidays: Raising Disaster Relief funds with the generous, glorious community of Beverly Hills

A few nights ago on Rodeo Drive, I emceed an evening with thousands of friends where our City of Beverly Hills community came together to not only enjoy our annual Holiday Lighting Celebration, but also to initiate a season of giving. As we launched another season of #BOLDbh festive programming and activations for our community, we also came together to support our neighboring communities in crisis, and to thank our brave and fearless first responders who were out all across California saving lives and homes as we were all gathered together. A mere thank you from me on the microphone, our mayor, city council and chamber of commerce did not seem like nearly enough for the sacrifice these heroes and their families are making. So, when Santa arrived with a very special gift for the American Red Cross @RedCrossLA from our community, it still didn’t seem like enough, but it seemed like a good start. For in the 24 hours leading up to the evening, our local businesses of @RodeoDrive & residents and businesses of @CityBH had raised over $126,000 to give to the relief efforts of the tragedies of the past few weeks. And, we’re not stopping there - so we hope you’ll join us. Let’s make this holiday season a season of giving, community and kindness. That truly is what the holidays are all about. Kicking off BOLD Beverly Hills Season with some BIG giving and fundraising for the California Fires

Friends, I am so honored to announce that I will be the Host & Emcee once again for the City of Beverly Hills & Rodeo Drive Committee celebration tomorrow night at 5 pm on Rodeo Drive as we kickoff BOLD Holidays 2018. If there’s one thing that I’ve seen through my 4 consecutive BOLD campaigns with Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, it is this: Beverly Hills is truly a community that cares - a family - and, not only a family that cares, but one that carries through with action when our community-at-large is in need. That’s why it warms my heart to announce that this annual beloved holiday community event tomorrow night will be a heart-centered vehicle to raise funds and support relief efforts for our sisters and brothers affected by the California wildfires. After all, the holiday season is all about giving and in Beverly Hills, we feel compelled to kick off our holiday season by helping our neighbors and friends in this time of crisis. We are all part of a greater community, and as such, we must lead with our hearts this holiday season more than ever before, and do our part as both individuals and as a community. So, join me tomorrow to be at one with our community and to get into the holiday - and, giving season - spirit! Enjoy music from electro hip-hop violinist & America’s Got Talent contestant, Svet, and a specially curated 20-piece #BOLDbh band, which will be playing a mix of holiday favorites and decades’ hits.
