Happy Wednesday and welcome to my tumblr.
The purpose and mission of this page is to condense the knowledge and thoughts concerning my varied interests into a public platform which may interest and inform others. I want to spend time reviewing and giving opinions regarding the many goods that I find useful.
In short: this is an EDC, or Everyday Carry, discussion blog.
I realize that I am perhaps outside of this site's general audience, but I hope that others will find this information useful and interesting. My hooe is that others will ask questions as I greatly enjoy the ability to discourse with others on these topics.
Stay tuned as my first review will be coming later today. 👍👍

Obviously, yes, acab and everything, but I work at what’s essentially a gas station for boats. We get a lot of the marine police, sherif, and FWC boats coming in for gas. I find them a bit more interesting to talk to than our usual clientele because normally they’ve got stories.
Normally, I take tips in cash, and normally the marine police, sherif, and FWC dont tip because they’re using city, state, and federal credit cards. I’m fine with that, normally it’s pretty slow during this time of year anyway, and they’ve always got something interesting to discuss.
But the sherif tipped me today. Not in cash, no. He tipped me with a nice pocket knife. One of his old ones he didn’t use anymore. Said he preferred something with a serrated edge so it would cut through dock lines better. But the sherif…tipped me…with a knife. This is a decent three inch Boker Kalishnakov Automat. I’m not a knife person, the most I’ve had is a rigging knife that I’d use when sailing. This thing is heavy, and somehow the most gender affirming thing I’ve ever had. I feel like one of the guys having this thing in my pocket.
I will always be the first person to tell you that knives don’t have a gender, but this is doing things for me. I feel like one of the guys.
Anyway, tldr; transmascs get yourself a nice pocket knife it does wonders for the gender.

Before Solingen (which peaked in the 18th-19th centuries), Graz and Nuremberg had an insane production/export of knives:
"A special item, knives of Styria, Graz, and Nürnberg, which became an object of spectacular trade between the Ottoman Empire and Austria, is of particular interest… According to the customs register of Brașov, 2,400,000 knives valued at 1,457,820 akça were imported in 1503 and the greater part were re-exported to the Otoman lands. Famous as "Wallachian knives" (eflak-bıçağı), because the Ottoman merchants bought them from Wallachians, they were inexpensive and very popular throughout the empire. In 1480, a merchant from Bursa, engaged in commerce between Bursa and Egypt, had 11,40 of them in his stock." — Halil Inalcik & Donald Quataert, An Economic and Social History of the Ottoman Empire, vol. 1, 1300-1600 (Cambridge University Press, 1997)
And it drives me crazy that I have NO IDEA what these knives looked like. Are we talking small utility knives, kitchen knives, fighting knives? Are they in German/Austrian style, or in Ottoman style, made to the customer's specifications? (Later, Solingen would do that a lot, the sword blades are kinda uniform, but knife blades are incredibly varied, clip-point for American bowies, triangular for Argentine gaucho knives, and so on; it often exported just the blades, and local artisans would fit them to their own handles.) If anyone has any guess what these "Wallachian knives" (which were not in fact Wallachian, and which apparently spread to Anatolia and the Balkans) looked like, please let me know.

Is Boker A good knife brand?
Knife Life is about mostly your personality and passion through the knife you carry in your pocket every day. Quality and seamless performance are what you get for being an owner of any of the Boker automatic knives.
It’s rare for a knife to remain a top seller even a year or two after it was released. It’s incredible that after more than a decade on the market, the Kalashnikov is still such a bestseller.
Boker Knives a good size for EDC provided you are allowed to carry an automatic knife with you. In many parts of the world, it is not legal to wear an automatic knife. Therefore, carefully review your laws before publicly pocketing the Kalashnikov.
What is a Boker knife?
Boker Knives. Boker Knives offers their traditional Tree Brand folding knives in popular styles like trapper, stockman and canoe models, as well as the Applegate-Fairbairn fighting dagger combat knife, tactical liner locking folding knives, state-of-the-art ceramic blade knives, kitchen cutlery and much more.
Tumblr media
Where are Boker knives made?
Boker knives was handcrafted in Solingen, Germany for hundreds of years. This proud tradition is evident in their more modern line of automatic knives. It is also worth mentioning that this knife was designed by Dietmar Pohl from Pohl Force.
The Boker Kalashnikov is an easy knife to consider in the budget car category. It’s been a bestseller for BladeHQ for years.
Tumblr media
Types of Boker knives
With over 50 different variations, the legendary Boker Kalashnikov series can have a lot to consider when making a purchase decision. In this article, we’ll go through your options to determine which is right for you.
The Kalashnikov comes in a variety of blade styles and colors. Although the dagger blade shape is by far the most popular, the Kalashnikov has seven different blade shapes.
Each of these blade shapes have their own unique advantages over others, and Boker was kind enough to offer serrated models in every blade style as well. Let’s look closely at the different types of Boker Automatic Knives
HAWKBILL
The Hawkbill variant is an option for any defense scenario that may require a knife. The curved blade is reminiscent of the classic karambit knife and is razor sharp.
SELLING POINT
If you are looking for classic looks, the Drop Point version is for you. The Drop Point Kalashnikov has a flat cut and is a great slicer.
TANTO
Like its Drop Point brother, the Tanto Kalashnikov also has a flat-ground blade so that it can be sliced easily. The tanto point enables finer cuts and is a good choice for an all-round everyday knife.
BOWIE
Next on the list is the Crocodile Dundee Special — the Bowie Kalashnikov. With a hollow sharpened blade and a beautiful belly, the Bowie Kalashnikov is a great choice for those of you who are looking for a classic design in a modern folding knife.
The Bowie was also the blade style for the exclusive XXL Kalashnikov at the blade.
REVERSE TANTO / WHARNCLIFF
The reverse tanto is a beautiful blade and incredibly strong at the tip for better piercing ability. Thanks to the (almost) perfectly straight edge, sharpening is also child’s play.
Tumblr media
From simple slip joint knives to snappy automatics, Boker is a brand known for its quality and history in the knife industry. Boker knives are known for being affordable, well made and great looking.
