this song i actually first heard from Kidnap! pilot trailer but i never looked up the lyrics until recently and god it is so MingJoe coded. this song is a nice monologue talking to the heart and asking why it keeps falling in love, even though it knows it’s only going to get burned. like the inability to get someone out of your heart and still loving someone even though they've hurt you so bad before ಥ_ಥ

watching The Believers on Netflix really sent me down a spiral of listening to Potato (a Thai rock band). I love this song so much because it's a refreshing addition to Potato's usual collection of 'unrequite love, breakup' songs.

i've been on a spiral of listening to old music i love so i'm sharing this mini commentary i made on this song a while back.

so 'the creeking' is based on tấm cám aka the vietnamese ver of cinderella. specifically, the part after vietnamese cinderella (tấm) was murdered by her stepmother & sister, she reincarnated into a bird, but then got killed AGAIN and she reincarnated into a weaving loom (insane, you just gotta read it, after she became a weaving loom, she got BURNED and she reincarnated into a freaking tree). but the simple gist is, when tấm reincarnated into a loom, the loom kept making noises to threaten her step sister as if to remind her step sister of the evil deed she did to tấm. the creeking may at first glance be a simple retell of this part of the story in tấm cám but it also parallels directly with hoàng thùy linh's life story. from the mire (the excessive hate train from her "scandal" when she was a minor and victim of revenge pornography), both hoàng thùy linh and tấm rose up to put their name down in history. ending the song with the statement that they'll survive no matter how many times evil forces (the press/media) try to bring tấm/htl down. the creeking is just such an empowering and feminist anthem like i cannot stress enough. hoàng thùy linh is currently going through her 2nd hate train rn and i honestly wish her the best bc i fully believe she'll make it through this cycle of vilification again.

i truly love this song because even though hoang thuy linh is more popular for her tiktok hit see tinh (sped up) aka ting ting tang tang, her first full album Hoàng is literally a masterpiece full of songs based on Viet culture/folklores. THE viet pop album of the decade for me tbh.

8. I LOVE U - MANBO ft. NAMVEE

viet hiphop hasn't been on my rotation for a few months but i always trust manbo to deliver a good rap on a pop rock beat.

9. Building Outside The Building - TNT

while TNT is known for their youthful, hopeful, lovely music, it's these hard hitting songs that makes TNT music so attractive to me. cpop having better hard hitting songs than kpop these days is killing me. wishing i could steal all the cpop demos and send them to my fave kpop bgs.

The metal scene on stations is not for anyone. Lobo, however, wasn't just anyone. Since he was semi-dating you, he thought you weren't just anyone too. That's why he'd brought you to this surprisingly nice bar, to watch one of his favorite bands play a show.

You weren't exactly big into metal. Sure, you listened to Metallica every once in a while, but Lobo was constantly touting the musical skill of bands with names like Aborted Second Coming and Spider Vomit. Sure, the technical skill these guys had was impressive, but it was intimidating too.

Still, you loved him, so you'd agreed, and now you were sitting at the bar with earplugs in, sipping on a beer. The cold was nice on your tongue contrasted with the heat of the packed bodies, and you considered ordering another once you were finished, but decided against it. Lobo would probably be in no state to drive at the end of the night, and he couldn't well sleep at the bar. One beer was probably good enough.

Lobo, meanwhile, was barely in your sight, since he had jumped into the middle of a mosh. From what you could see, he was having a hell of a time, bodyslamming people and getting his nose broken. His mouth and chin were covered in his blue blood, and it was getting on his shirt, too. He caught your eye then, and flashed you a grin and a thumbs up. You smiled and gave him a thumbs up back. It was good to see him have fun.

After a few more minutes, he managed to extract himself from the mass of sweaty, girating bodies to make his way over to you.

"Babe, hey! How's th' beer?"

"It's good, Bo, you should probably- ah- here let me just get that."

You grabbed a couple of napkins and gently wiped at his bloodied face, much to his disappointment.

"Babe, baby, c- noooo, c'mon, lemme alone, 's fine! I'll clean it off later!"

"Lobo, angel, sugar, if you bleed too much on their floors the owner is gonna kick us out."

He sighed, finally ending his struggle and letting you wipe his face off. Once you'd finished, you kissed his nose, which made him much less sulky. He kissed you back, and the next thing you knew you were making out.

At this point, the previous band had moved on and the band that Lobo had come to see had finished setup. The moment the frontman announced "We are Bloodfuck!" Lobo pulled back excitedly.

"Sorry, hon, they're on, I gotta go!"

"Ok, ok, have fun!"

"Yer so cool I love ya."

Once he left, you ordered some water and went back to chilling. If you were being honest, the guitar in this band was pretty cool, very technical. You could see why he liked it, since Lobo was an avid lover of technical guitar skill.

And then you saw him.

You didn't notice him at first, since his hair was blonde now, not blue, but there he was. Your ex. The one who'd... god you could barely remember. You'd dated him in a really bad patch of your life, and he'd taken advantage of that to totally isolate you.

Then came that feeling. Rage? Hurt? Nausea? The feeling that came when you thought of him. So you took your water and sped to the bathroom.

Once you spent afew minutes of deep breathing and pacing around, you started to feel better, and went to go back to the bar, but were stopped by the door opening.

"There y' are..."

Lobo stepped in, leaning back on the door to give you both some privacy. He looked... worried. You were still getting used to that. He never seemed to get worried over anything else, except for maybe dolphins. And now you.

"Ya dissapeared, sugar, don't do that."

"Sorry, sorry, I just saw... just had some bad memories stirred up. I'm better now."

"Meanin'?"

"... I saw my ex. You know, the one I told you about."

"Oh! Jackass!"

"Yeah, Jackass."

"D'you... need anythin'? A hug, a murder, break his kneecaps a lil?"

"A hug would be nice. Don't do the other two things please."

"Awwwww, y' never lemme have any fun."

He did oblige though, pulling you into his arms. He was damp with sweat and smelled like salt and spilled beer and BO, but it was comforting.

"Y'wanna leave? Just so ya don't hafta see him."

"Babe, no, that band you like isn't done playing."

"And? I got th' CD and th' hoodie n junk. I can jus' catch em next time."

You pulled back and looked at him. He LOVED going to live shows. He got excited whenever he heard one was coming in. And he was going to leave in the middle of a set for you?

... That felt... nice. Like he cared about you. You weren't sure about exactly how he felt about you, but him offering that? It was nice.

"Lobo, I promise. We can stay."

He smiled at you, and then you both left the shitty bar bathroom. He stayed with you at the bar for a good while, but when the band announced their final encore, he made his way back to the pit.

And so did your ex.

Lobo noticed at the same time you did, and immediately shot you a look. You saw the question in that look, and nodded a yes as an answer. He smiled, then jumped on the stage, looking back to time his leap juuuuuust right...

Thud.

His drop coincided with the last note of the song, and he quickly got up and rushed over to you.

"C'mon c'mon we gotta go now 'fore the cops get here."

You took his hand, tossed the bartender a tip, and then sprinted to the door.

You knew he cared now.

A lot of my more traumatic experiences as a kid followed me either expressing or even following MY violent urges-- kicked a dude and acted threatening to him for flicking rubber bands and generally harassing me all day, and in return got bodyslammed into a wall by a different guy, treated like a monster by the teachers, and given detention for the entire rest of the school year. Later I found out the dude who slammed me into a wall skipped out his detentions and they didn't do anything about it.

(Important note, I was half either of those boys' size and vaguely resembled an elf. I was the epitome of physically nonthreatening.)

Being violent or capable of violence is seen as manly, masculine--unless you're a Black man and then it's a death sentence when you weren't even TRYING to be threatening, you were picking up lunch or some shit.

If I express violent feelings because I'm angry it's considered unbecoming of me, unfeminine. Shocking. If, in a workplace environment, an older white gentleman casually states that he'd love to beat some sense into someone, people typically chuckle or don't bat an eye.

If I were a Black woman, I'd just get reduced to "angry Black chick" stereotypes. As a white woman, I'm just a crazy bitch. (Whether you're Angry or Crazy otherwise depends a lot on the racial stereotypes that apply to you. Latina and Asian women are also more likely to get labeled Crazy Bitch. This probably has to do with how Black men are perceived as an overarching threat specifically, but I'm no scholar.)

There are so many other examples I could use, both from the wider world and my own life.

And I'm aware some people would be horrified to hear me say that shit, but the fact is that HAVING violent urges is also not the same as ACTING on them.

That's why a violent person doesn't have an excuse for it just because he's a white cisgender man who gets "urges."

Two years before , someone knocked me down from my bicycle with their car and I broke my hand and ribs , my brother was absolutely not happy . Her favorite class is the pyro because she thinks he's adorable and she also likes demo too because of his silliness.

The best thing she has ever done was save 8 people from her high school from drowning. And she also had also convinced someone she knew to not kill themselves and helped them have the best life ever. [That person is now a therapist!!]

The sports that she played were Golf, Wrestling, Swimming and Marching band.

She placed masters in wrestling during her sophomore year and made it to championships in golf,swimming and Marching band in her freshman to senior year.

She did want to do varsity football or varsity track but then she didn't want to them because she does enough.

This one's special to me for various reasons – I love the show it's for (10 Year's Ticket), I love how much Ohm's singing has improved (it really has – I had the opportunity to hear this performed live and can attest that it's not all autotune) … and I just really like it.

I've liked most of her songs I've heard and it's not really easy to pick one, but this is a) insanely popular and b) one of the first of hers I heard, so!

Joey Phuwasit: ดวงเดือน (Moon)

I don't quite remember where I first heard it, but I know it came on when I was sitting in a café in Phuket with friends while we were chatting with the owners while we waited for our laundry to complete its round in the dryer at the nearby laundromat. It's sweet and nostalgic and I love it lots.

I haven't had that much luck finding duets, oddly? but I really like this one.
