I think it’s right shit of you to encourage people not to look at what that young man went through. How do you support and be a part of a fight when you don’t *KNOW* what you’re fighting for?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
See here’s the thing, I didn’t answer right away, because I was (perhaps naïvely) assuming that there was just a little misunderstanding or misreading of what I said in my post, but you just keep coming back and the misinterpretation feels deliberately uncharitable at this point. I said:
“With the Tyre Nichols bodycam footage set to hit the news very shortly, I urge you all to take care of your mental health. You do not need to watch him be beaten to death to understand the horror of that fact, be outraged and contribute to his family, black America, and America as a whole’s ongoing fight.”
Cool? Cool. So here’s the thing. One of the family’s lawyers said Tyre was “a human piñata for these police officers.” That’s enough. For plenty of people that’s enough to provoke outrage, to understand. The image of a batons-out beating that phrase invokes is vivid enough, and you should let it be enough.
If someone’s heart or mind or stomach or soul are not strong enough — now or ever — to watch and listen to that sweet boy calling out for his mama as those five officers killed him, that should be ok. If watching would be so detrimental that more lives could be damaged or lost, I can’t imagine anyone would want that. Ms. RowVaughn — Tyre’s own mum — hasn’t watched it. Don’t begrudge someone their safety so long as they’re aware, outraged, and acting from that position of safety.

It shouldn't be amusing when cops don't know the law; it should terrify you.

there's something to be said about the specific brand of copaganda in horror where you are placed in the point of view of an officer and made to feel the fear they experience in an attempt to humanize them, especially knowing that that fear is used to justify cops both killing and refusing to save civillians, but I'm not smart enough to fully articulate it rn

I know they released the bodycam footage of Tyre Nichols and I just want everyone to protect their mental health and also if you're living in any southern states (Mostly Tennessee and Georgia) please be safe. Some states have declared prematurely to be in emergency because they are expecting rioting. Unfortunately another young black man has been murdered at the hands of the police. Y'all stay safe please.
I wasn't going to post about this on my tumblr because tumblr is my safe space.

How are u doing?
_(┐「ε:)_ I’m in a weird spot mentally, that’s for sure…. Even though my hair was just cut… it still gets knots in the back!! Rats!!!
My house is really messy and I desperately need to clean it soon because I’ll be having some artist friends over for a couple of days….I’m being super lazy about it….. Even leaving the house for normal things like a haircut and thrift shopping make me jittery and tired but I must persevere for the sake of Girl Sleepover!!! >:3
Kind of just biding my time until then, I've been obsessing over this webcomic Ranfren. Nonnies should read it and let it infect their minds as well (●´ω`●) I was in a late 90’s-early 2000’s Cat Soup mood anyways and reading this scratched my brain so hard.

So much of police work is just achingly dull and painfully disorganized. it's no wonder people get hurt/killed accidentally because, at any given scene, there are SO many different divisions/ranks/departments involved whether, in person or on phone/radio, and no....... one is talking to each other lol.

Ryan Gainer was a 15 year old Autistic Black boy who was shot and killed by police in California.
Ryan seemed to have been having a meltdown, he was holding a gardening tool, police were called to the house but they are refusing to release any body cam footage of the shooting and refusing to state how many times Ryan was shot, they failed to help him before the paramedics arrived.
After shooting him Ryan's family was then forced out of their home while the police rummaged through their house looking for any justifiable cause for shooting Ryan.
This is hardly the first time the San Bernardino police department has attacked or killed people having a mental health crisis.

Rest in Power Ryan.
STOP CALLING THE POLICE ON DISABLED AND MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE!
