All Those Who Go Unnoticed
Evan Buckley x Female Reader
Summary: Evan Buckley has always been left behind and forgotten about. What happens when someone finally decides to stay?
TW: Mentions of neglect and self-deprecating thoughts, angst, friends to lovers.
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley was born to serve a purpose that he could not fulfill. His parents only had another child in a futile attempt to save his older brother Daniel. After his brother had passed away, Buck's parents treated him like he was a waste of space. Everything he did was wrong and he couldn't seem to ever find himself in their good graces.
Buck relied on his older sister Maddie for years until she eventually left him behind to start a life of her own. Buck left home as soon as he could, but struggled to find himself for years. He bounced between jobs in search of something that could make him feel like he mattered.
Everything fell into place when he decided to become a firefighter.
Buck loved his job at the 118, he saved lives everyday with some of the most amazing people he had ever met. He found a family that valued him and treated him how he deserved to be treated. Despite having everything he had spent his life searching for, Buck still felt like nothing he did was good enough.
He could have been smarter. He could have been faster. He could have done more.
Buck had never told anyone how critical he could be of himself. It was something that he always dealt with, definitely a mindset created by his parents.
Buck always felt like he had to prove himself and show everyone that he had value. It was a never-ending quest that weighed on him heavily.
Y/N had quickly become Buck's best friend when he joined the 118 all those years ago. She was a firefighter-paramedic and she was great at her job. Y/N never doubted herself and Buck admired her tenacity, especially when people challenged her in the field.
Y/N and Buck hardly went a day without seeing each other. He felt like his day wasn't complete until he talked to her.
They were the kind of friends that could have a 4-hour long video call while doing chores around the house or spend all day just chatting about nothing in particular. They knew everything there was to know about each other and seemed to share a brain at times.
Buck had never felt seen until he met Y/N.
Y/N always brought him into conversations or found her way over to him when she could tell he was pulling back. Y/N knew about how hard Buck could be on himself, she could tell when he was overthinking and was able to pull him out of that mindset.
"You need to be kinder to yourself, Buck," Y/N had told him one night when he was alone in the locker room after a rough shift.
"I'll try," He had replied.
Buck thought about that interaction quite often, he was always beating himself up for things he had little control over and it needed to end.
It was a hard cycle to break, but he was trying, and he was trying because of her.
...
Buck watched Y/N talk animatedly to Hen and Karen about a book they had all been reading. They laughed loudly at something she said before Hen began sharing her own thoughts on the book.
Y/N looked over, locking eyes with Buck from across the yard and sending him a small wave with a smile. He waved back, watching her as she returned to her conversation.
Bobby took a seat at the patio table beside Buck, "So, when are you gonna ask her out?" He questioned.
Buck's eyebrows raised, "Oh, no, I was just-," He started, "Save the excuse, I can tell that you like her as more than a friend," Bobby said with a knowing smile.
Buck looked down at the table with a sigh, picking at the label on his beer bottle with his thumb nail, "She's way too good for me," Buck said.
"What makes you say that?" Bobby asked.
Buck shrugged, "She's amazing and I'm just me... I don't deserve her," He stated.
"Buck, you're a good guy but you need to know when to get out of your own way. Don't overthink it, just ask her out. I'm almost 100% sure she would say yes if you asked her out on a date," Bobby assured.
"Almost 100%?" Buck asked.
"99.9% sure," Bobby amended.
Buck looked over at her to find her making her way over to the cooler full of drinks. He stood up from his seat and made his way over to her.
"Hey," He greeted.
"Hey, I was wondering when you were gonna stop hiding away in the corner," Y/N teased.
"Can I ask you something?" Buck questioned, "Of course," Y/N replied.
"Um, you can totally tell me if I'm looking at this the wrong way, but is there something- I don't know... Is there something more than friendship between us?" He asked.
"Do you want there to be something more?" Y/N asked.
"I think I do," Buck answered hesitantly.
Relief washed over him when a smile broke out across her face, "I do too," She said.
"Oh my god, you have no idea how fast my heart is beating right now," Buck said, huffing out a soft laugh.
Y/N rested her hand on his chest, feeling his heart pound against her palm, "You really weren't kidding. Do you need to sit down?" She asked.
"No, I'm good. I just- Will you go out on a date with me?" He questioned, resting his hand over her's on his chest.
"Of course I'll go out with you, Buck," Y/N replied.
...
Y/N and Buck had been dating for almost a year, she had moved into his apartment and everything seemed amazing. Buck still felt like he was waiting for the day she found someone better and left him in the dust, but she chose him each and every day.
Buck had never felt like the center of attention, he always went above and beyond to be noticed, but it was effortless with Y/N. Buck felt like he was being seen after a lifetime of feeling invisible and it was the best feeling in the world. He couldn't think of a way to repay Y/N for bringing him to life again.
Until he did.
He sat at a table in the busy coffee shop, a mug of coffee sat on the table in front of him. Buck felt jittery and he had yet to take a single sip of the hot beverage, instead choosing to watch the door closely. Buck straightened up in his seat as Maddie made her way into the establishment. She walked through the tables before sitting down in the chair across from him.
"Where's Y/N? Is she not coming?" Maddie asked.
"Um, no, actually. I kinda needed some time to talk to you... Alone," Buck said hesitantly, grimacing at his own awkwardness.
Maddie gasped, "Are you going to propose to Y/N?" She asked.
Buck's face fell, "How did you know that? I didn't even say anything yet," He questioned.
"I just knew," Maddie grinned, "Aw, Buck, this is so exciting!" She said.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a while now. I mean, with everything we've gone through this year, I don't want to spend anymore time not being together, y'know?" Buck questioned.
"I do," Maddie said.
"I think she's my person, Maddie," Buck admitted.
Maddie smiled, her eyes glossing over with happy tears, "She definitely is, Evan," She said.
"I was wondering if you had some time today to help me pick out a ring. I've looked around a little bit, but I'm kinda useless at this stuff," He said.
"Of course I'll help. Do you have any idea what kind of ring she may want?" Maddie asked.
"I think she likes the ones with the jewel that's shaped like an egg," Buck said slowly.
"This is going to be a very long and expensive day for you, little brother," Maddie sighed with a smile.

As you walk into Bobby and Athena's house, the laughter and chatter fill the air. It's a lively party, with children running around and adults catching up with one another. Buck takes your hand, leading you through the crowd, as you greet familiar faces and exchange warm smiles.
You settle down outside, letting the sun kiss your face, enjoying the summer day as Maddie and Chimney made their way, sending hugs here and there. Maddie's eyes are sparkling with excitement, and she can barely contain her joy. Buck kissed the top of your head, joining Bobby and Eddie as the girls gathered around you.
“Someone’s in a good mood.” you teased Maddie, as her cheeks turned red. “Where’s my favourite niece?”
“Oh, she’s over there with Howie.” Maddie pointed to where the boys were standing, making a circle around Jee-Yun as she ran between their legs, handing herself onto Buck’s.
You heard congratulation words coming from the boys, some patting Chim on his shoulder, some giving him hugs. Buck just stood there with a funny repulsion written over his face and everyone laughed at his words, making you frown even more.
“So girl, you’re gonna tell us why you’re so cheerful about or we should share our guesses?” Athena’s gaze shifted from Maddie to where the boys were, lightly chuckling when your boyfriend made his way to you.
“Well, me and Howie—“
“It’s so disgusting hearing people telling around they’re trying for a baby. Like yeah, congratulations, you’re having sex, but just don’t make a big deal out of it!” Buck was babbling around, interrupting his sister, and you just couldn’t hold your laugh at him scrunching his face in dislike.
“What’s the matter with you?” you caressed his hand when he landed on your chair handle.
“It’s annoying hearing Chimney talk about trying for another baby. I don’t want to picture my sister and Chimney having sex! Now I can’t get that image out of my mind!” Buck’s words made the girls laugh and after the realisation hit, all of you gave Maddie questioning looks.
“Yeah, thank you Evan for making the announcement!” Mads frowned at Buck, innocence playing on his eyes as he raised his arms in defence. “Me and Howie are trying for baby number two!” she announces, her voice filled with excitement.
The back yard erupts with laughter and cheers, and you find yourself clapping and smiling along with everyone else. But as the cheers die down, a thought creeps into your mind, and you glance over at Buck, who seems lost in his own thoughts.
Maddie notices your quiet demeanor and turns to you and Buck, her eyes filled with curiosity. "What about you two?" she asks, her voice filled with interest. "Waiting for baby Buckley to play around here some day."
Buck's gaze shifts from Maddie to you, and you catch a flicker of longing in his eyes. It's a question that has been hovering unspoken between the two of you for a while. Your heart skips at the thought of having Buck’s child.
You take a deep breath, suddenly feeling vulnerable yet hopeful. "Maybe some day." you say softly, intertwining your fingers with Buck's.
As the conversation continues around you, your mind starts to race with possibilities. You think about the future, about the joy and challenges that come with parenthood. The thought of sharing that journey with Buck fills you with a sense of love and anticipation.
Buck's attention turned to Christopher, who was playing around with Danny, his contagious laughter filling the air. A mischievous grin formed on Buck's face, and he couldn't resist joining in on the fun. They played tag, engaged in an imaginary battle against imaginary villains, and Buck even gave Christopher a piggyback ride, both of them bursting into fits of giggles.
While watching Buck and Christopher, Eddie joins you on the couch, with a warm smile playing on his face. He leaned in slightly, his voice softening. "You know, you and Buck would make incredible parents," Eddie remarked, his words laced with sincerity. "I've seen how you both care for Christopher and the rest of the team. You have so much love to give."
His words touch your soul, and you nod gratefully. "Thank you, Eddie. It means a lot to hear that from you."
“What are best friends for?” he noticed your lost expression, embracing you with warmth and a kind of love only Eddie was able to bring into your life. It was a big brother’s love, one saying he cares about you a lot and his heart aches whenever your smile is missing from your beautiful face.
His words resonated with you, reinforcing the thoughts that had been swirling in your mind since the conversation had begun. The idea of starting a family with Buck had always been a distant notion, but now it felt tangible, within reach. The mere thought of sharing such a profound connection with him filled you with excitement and warmth.
As the day drew to a close and the sun dipped below the horizon, you found yourself nestled in Buck's embrace, watching the stars emerge one by one. The gentle breeze carried with it a sense of serenity, and it seemed as if the universe was aligning to grant your unspoken desires.
Buck’s apartment is filled with a warm and inviting atmosphere that always seems to surround him; a mix of modern furniture and personal touches, reflecting Buck's adventurous spirit. The walls are adorned with photographs capturing his countless adventures and the sweetest memories the two of you share.
As you settle on the cozy couch, a sense of comfort washes over you, amplified by Buck's presence. You were tired, all you wanted to do was to lay in his arms, the calming movement of his chest raising and slowly making its way down with every breath drifting you off to sleep. But something feels different in the air and your tiredness is not it.
Buck glances at you with a mischievous smile, his hazel eyes sparkling with a hint of excitement. You notice his playful demeanor, sensing there's something he's been pondering.
"You know," Buck begins, his voice gentle yet filled with anticipation, "I've been thinking a lot lately."
“Oh, you thinking? That can’t be good!” you teased, trying so hard to keep the laughter from coming out of your mouth as his fingers made their way up and down your body in Buck’s attempt of tickling you.
“Now, seriously.” he cleared his throat and his blue eyes scanned your face. Tears forming in your eyes from all the laughter, a beautiful smile reached your eyes that you couldn’t keep under control and cheeks painted with the same pink as your lips. “Everyone around us have families, babies. We’re the only one left.”
His words hang in the air, leaving you momentarily speechless, but as you observe Buck's hopeful gaze, you realize he's being completely serious.
As a rush of emotions flood over you, you search within yourself to find your own truth. Thoughts of Buck as a father flicker through your mind, and you can't help but smile. He has always been compassionate, caring, and fiercely protective of those he loves. His determination to make the world a better place for others is a testament to the kind of father he could be.
Buck notices your smile and takes it as a positive sign. His enthusiasm grows, and he continues, "I know it's a big decision, and we'll have to figure out the logistics, but I can't imagine a better person to be the mother of my kids."
His words stir a sense of warmth in your heart, and you find yourself imagining a future where you and Buck navigate parenthood together, supporting each other through the ups and downs.
“I-uh… I’ve been thinking about it lately.” you confessed, playing with his hair as his head rested on your lap. “But the more I think about it, the more I realize how lucky any child would be to have you as a father."
A mix of relief and joy washes over Buck's face, his eyes gleaming with gratitude. He reaches out, gently taking your hand in his, and squeezes it softly. In that moment, you both understand that whatever path you choose, you'll face it together, as you've always done.
He suddenly stands up on his knees, dragging you down on the couch, hands framing your face. You laugh in surprise, wrapping your arms around his neck, holding into him as his lips pursued together down from you nose, to your cheek and making their way to your neck.
“We better get to work then!”

Lately you haven't been feeling the greatest. Every morning you started out with running to the bathroom and throwing up and your husband would come in and hold your hair back and comfort you and whisper encouraging things in your ear and asking if you're sure you don't want him to go to work. You also noticed that you were starting to get bloated and you were late by several weeks now that you thought about it. It was still starting to worry you and your husband, Bobby Nash.
You were told before that you couldn’t have kids when you both were trying and it killed you on the inside but that didn’t stop you and him from having sex and since you couldn’t have kids you both don’t worry about taking any precautions. For the past week you had been off your game tired, hungry, moody, and nauseous. You were scared and you didn’t know what to do so you turned to your best friend and your husband’s coworker, Henrietta ‘Hen’ Wilson. You called her up.
“Hey, Girl. What's up?” She asked
“Hey, can you come over?” You asked her.
“Yea, I can be there in 10 minutes. Everything ok?” She asked
“Ummm not really.” You said being vague and that was throwing her off.
“Y/N are you ok?” She asked
“No, I’ve been throwing up every morning, I’m tired all the time, my back hurts, I’m hungry all the time, and I’ve been snapping at everyone and it kills me because I’m not like that. Hen I’m not.” You said crying “And here comes the emotions.” You said
“Ok ok. Calm down. I will be there in 5 minutes. I just need to stop at the store and grab something, ok?” She asked
“Ok.” You said sniffling.
“Stay calm and I will be there soon. Drink some water and relax.” She said “I’m going to hang up now, ok?” She asked
“Ok.” You said and then you both were hanging up and now you were waiting for her on the couch.
5 minutes passed and there was a knock on the door and you were getting up and opening it. When you saw her, you started to cry. “Hey.” She said and brought you into her arms.
“Hi.” You choked out.
“Let’s go and sit on the couch and I’ll start checking you over, ok?” She asked and you nodded.
“Ok.” You said sniffling. You both went to the couch and you sat down and she sat to the side of you.
“Where is Bobby anyways?” She asked
“He went out with Buck. I told him that I wasn’t feeling well and told him to go.” You said as she checked everything that she could on you and nothing abnormal came up with the general checkup. She then brought up the question that you hadn’t thought of for a while not since that day you found out.
“I don’t see anything physically wrong with you check up wise. I have to ask, is there a possibility that you could be pregnant?” She asked and you were looking at her dumbfounded.
“No, there can’t be no way.” You said
“It wouldn’t hurt to check. When I stopped at the store I grabbed some pregnancy tests.” She said and you looked at her “Please just humor me.” She said and you sighed.
“Fine.” You said and then got up taking the tests. You got up and went to the bathroom.
“I’ll be right out here when you’re done. Just call for me.” She said and you nodded. You walked into the bathroom and shut the door and took the tests and now you had to wait 5 minutes. You opened the door “Hen, I’m done.” You said and she walked into the bathroom and she sat down on the tub that you had sat down on. “What if I am pregnant?” You asked
“That would be great. How would you feel?” She asked
“Ecstatic.” You said as the timer went off and you got up and grabbed the capped pregnancy tests. You took a breath and looked down at them and your heart stopped. You were looking at two positive pregnancy tests. Of course, you were delighted but you were in shock, you were told it was not possible for you to have kids.
“Y/N are you ok?” Hen asked as she looked at with worry on her face.
“I think so.” You said
“How are you feeling right now?” She asked
“I really don’t know. I’m excited but I’m shocked. I was told when we were trying to have kids that I couldn’t. I was so devastated that I didn’t even get a second opinion.” You said looking at her.
“When are you going to tell Bobby?” She asked
“I want to be sure. I want to get a doctor’s appointment but I don’t want to go alone. I don’t want him to go with me just to have his heart broken again. I can’t do that to him, he was so heartbroken even more than I was when we were told that there was no way we could have kids.” You said and she nodded.
“Do you want me to come with you?” She asked and you looked at her with tears in your eyes.
“Please.” You said and she smiled.
“I will. Come here.” She said and opened her arms and you fell into them. “Everything is going to be ok. I promise. We’re all here for you.” She said and you nodded as you pulled out your phone and shakingly pulled up your gynecologist contact. You called them and made the appointment.
“They can get me in 10 AM tomorrow morning.” You said and she smiled and then the door was opening and your husband’s voice calling out to you. You were quick to hide the tests with Hen and then you both were coming out of the bathroom wiping your face of tears.
“Honey, I'm home!” He shouted
“I'll be there in a second.” You said back as you walked out of the bathroom and Hen followed. Bobby spotted you and smiled and then he saw Hen.
“How was your day?” He asked coming over and hugging you and the smell of his cologne made you close your eyes and melt into him.
“It was good. Wanted some girl time with my best friend so I called her over.” You said
“What did you both do?” He asked as he pulled away from the hug and you almost let out a whimper.
“Oh, nothing really. Lazed around the house and gossiped.” Hen said and you nodded.
“That sounds like a good girl’s day.” He said and you smiled. You felt better with having him around.
“I'm actually going to go out with her tomorrow before shift. I need to get some shopping done and want a girl’s opinion.” You said and he nodded. He wasn't one to get upset over you not wanting his opinion and you were glad about that. Lord knows you've asked for his opinion so many times.
“Well, I will get going. I'll see you in the morning Y/N.” She said and you smiled and hugged her smiling.
Thank you.” You whispered in her ear and she hugged you tighter letting you know she heard you and saying you're welcome. She then was releasing you and then grabbing her stuff and headed out the door leaving you and Bobby alone.
“Are you ok?” He asked once she left and you looked at him and smiled.
“I'm so much better now that you're here.” You said and he smiled and kissed your forehead.
“Are you hungry?” He asked and you shook your head.
“Not right now.” You said and he smiled.
“What do you want to do for the rest of the day?” He asked
“I want to spend every waking moment with you. It doesn't even matter what it is. I just want it to be with you.” You said and he smiled.
“I would like nothing less. I love you.” He said
“I love you too.” You replied and so that's how the rest of the day was spent. You by your husband’s side or in his arms. That's where both of your happy places were. When you were with each other than nothing else mattered.
As you both laid down for the night you stayed awake for a little bit thinking of the possibilities going through everything. Your mind didn't stop until he rested his hand on your stomach and a smile came to your face and that is how you fell asleep.
*******************************
The next morning something good had you waking up and walking into the kitchen. When you got there, you saw your husband over the stove cooking something that smelled delicious and familiar and then it hit you, it was your favorite breakfast. “Whatever you’re cooking smells delicious.” You said and that had Bobby turning around and smiling.
“Hey, Baby. I figured I would cook you something before not seeing you for two days and it is something easy on your stomach. Also, you can freeze or store the rest.” He said and you started to cry. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked coming over to you and gently placing his hands on your face.
“Nothing. I promise. You’re just too good to me.” You said and he smiled.
“Anything for my girl.” He said and kissed your forehead and then the oven was beeping and he was pulling away and heading over to the oven and stove. As he got the food ready you watched him, if you were pregnant then your baby is going to have the luckiest father in the world. Then again, he was raising several other grown adults at work. You both got your plates filled and sat down to eat, breakfast was filled with small talk and you actually could stomach the food and you weren’t rushing to the bathroom to throw up, which was a miracle. After food was eaten you got in the shower and got ready for the day while Bobby cleaned up and put food away.
10 AM rolled around and Hen was knocking on the door and you were still getting ready so Bobby got the door. You could hear their voices from in the bedroom. “Good morning, Bobby.” Hen said.
“Good morning.” She replied
“Big plans for you both today?” He asked and you smiled and you knew she wouldn’t tell him not without running it by you, it was your news to tell.
“Oh yea. We're going to go shopping.” She said and he smiled and nodded. He knew you didn't like shopping so this was a big deal if it were up to you then you would do all of your shopping online.
“Those are some big plans. She should be out here in a minute.” He said and Hen smiled and nodded and you took that as a cue to head out there. When you came into his view he smiled “There she is.” He said, which made Hen turn and smile.
“Are you ready to go?” She asked and you nodded.
“As ready as I ever will be.” You said and that had everyone chuckling and smiling. So, you bid your husband a goodbye with a kiss and a I love you and then the both of you were out the door.
“How are you feeling?” Hen asked as she drove to the medical center.
“Nervous. What if the tests were wrong and I'm not pregnant?” You asked
“Then we will deal with it. If you want my opinion, I think you are because of all the symptoms you told me. I can feel it.” She said and you smiled
“Thank you.” You said
“For what?” She asked even though she knew the answer.
“For being here with me. For coming to me when I was freaking out.” You said and she turned to look at you when she had parked in front of the building.
“It's my pleasure really. I'm your best friend, that's what I'm supposed to do.” She said and you smiled. She was right. She had been your best friend ever since she started to work at the 118 and you couldn't have asked for a better friend. You took a deep breath and let it out.
“I'm ready.” You said and she smiled and nodded then you both were getting out of the car and locking the door. When you got into the building you went to reception and got some paperwork to fill out while Hen went and grabbed a spot. When you got it, you went and sat down and now both of you sat in the waiting room.
“Do you want me to come back with you?” She asked and you debated it as you filled out the paperwork.
“Part of me yes and part of me no.” You said and she didn't take offense to that.
“I'll be right here when you do make the decision.” She said and you smiled and nodded as you finished the paperwork and took it up the front and then went and sat back down with Hen.
“Thank you.” You said and hugged her.
“You're welcome.” She said and then the nurse was calling your name. You breathed in and stood up.
“Do you mind staying here?” You asked
“Not at all. If you want me in there then tell someone and I’ll be in there.” She said and you nodded and then you were heading off with the nurse. When you arrived at a room, she led you in and turned to you.
“Please make yourself comfortable Dr. Muntz will be here in a few minutes.” The nurse said and you smiled and nodded.
“Thank you.” You said and she smiled and nodded. She then left you alone. You didn’t have to wait long until there was a knock on the door and it was opening to reveal the doctor.
“Good morning Mrs. Nash. How are you this morning?” She asked
“Better than I have been in the past mornings. I actually was able to eat and keep it down this morning.” You said and she smiled and nodded and wrote things down.
“From looking at the symptoms that you said I have a sneaking suspicion that you’re pregnant. I’m going to run some bloodwork and then an ultrasound. How long has this sickness been going on for?” She asked.
“About 9 weeks, so 2 months.” You said and she nodded and wrote it down.
“May I ask why you didn’t come in sooner?” She asked and you nodded.
“When my husband and I were trying to get pregnant for months I went and got checked out and there I was told I would never be able to have children. So, I didn’t think anything of being pregnant. I took some pregnancy tests just out of curiosity and they were both positive so I just wanted to be sure.” You said and she nodded.
“I’ll get someone in here to do some bloodwork and I’ll be back in a few.” She said and you nodded and she was gone and a nurse was coming in.
“Hi, I’m Nurse Harper. I’m gonna get some blood, ok?” She asked and you nodded.
“Ok.” You said and she did what she told you and she was gone. It amazed you at how quickly everything was getting done. While you set alone thoughts ran through your head, you so desperately wanted a kid especially with Bobby.
20 minutes later Dr. Muntz was walking in with a smile on her face and you prepared for the worst and the best. “I have the results and I would like to say congratulations.” She said and tears spring to your eyes.
“Really?” You asked and she nodded and smiled.
“We can do an ultrasound if you would like.” She said
“Please.” You said and she smiled.
“Go ahead and lay back and raise your shirt up.” She said and so you did and she brought over the machine and some gel. “This is going to be a little cold.” She said and you nodded and she spread the gel over your stomach and you shivered “I’m sorry.” She said and you shook your head.
“It’s ok.” You replied she then brought the wand down on your stomach and moved it over it.
“Everything looks good here and here is your baby.” She said and froze it on the spot and you started to cry harder.
“Can I have a few copies?” You asked in a teary voice.
“Of course.” She said and gave you a paper towel to wipe the gel off as she printed out the pictures and handed them to you. “Here is a folder with lists of things you should be doing and medications you should be taking. There is one for what you should be eating and staying away from. There is some information in there as well on other things. You can also call and ask questions and my personal number is in there as well. Are there any questions?” She asked and you nodded.
“My previous gynecologist said I would never be able to have kids. Why is that?” You asked
“There are a lot of possibilities and things change when you get older. Your body could have not been ready for kids and it was showing that but it is now or they could’ve been wrong about everything. But your body is ready now and you’re growing a life inside of you. We’ll be here every step of the way for you and your husband.” She said you teared up.
“Can I hug you?” You ask and she chuckled.
“Of course.” She said and you did so and then you released her “Go head and head on out and reception will set you up with appointments and get medications called in for you.” She said and you smiled and nodded and did just that. When you got to the waiting room Hen saw you and you smiled at her and nodded. Once you got everything set up you thanked reception and walked over to her.
“Is it official?” She asked and you nodded.
“It is.” You said wiping tears away and smiling.
“Oh, this is exciting! Bobby is going to be ecstatic!” She exclaimed
“Oh shit! How am I going to tell him?” You asked
“You’ll think of a way. You’re smart.” She said and you chuckled and then you two were walking out and she drove you home.
“I have a way but I need your help.” She said as she pulled up into the driveway, Bobby was already gone. She nodded and you told her after a long explanation you were getting out and watching her drive away. You went inside and started to plan on what you needed. You got into your car and drove to the store and got the cutest shirts ever: ‘My Daddy is My Hero’ with a firetruck on it and ‘My Daddy is a Firefighter’. You were amazed at how many firefighter baby outfits there were. You went home and started to plan everything out and worked on how much you would need to buy and how much to save. You put his gift together and attached the ultrasound picture. You kept this up until it was time to go to bed.
*******************************
Two days later you were nervous. You spent most of the morning perfecting his gift and preparing yourself for the outcomes. You looked down at your watch and saw that it was later than you thought. You took a breath and let it out. “Alright let’s do this.” You said and drove to the station. When you got there, you parked by his truck and got out while grabbing the bag and walked in. You quickly spotted Hen “Hen!” You said and she turned around and smiled.
“Hey! You ready to do this?” She asked and you nodded.
“Yup, I’m ready.” You said
“Hey, Y/N/N.” Buck and Eddie said at the same time and then Chimney came over and greeted you.
“Have you told them?” You asked Hen and she nodded.
“Congratulations by the way.” Eddie said and you smiled.
“Thank you.” You said
“When did you find out?” Buck asked
“3 days ago.” You said
“That’s great.” Chimney said and then you looked at Hen and nodded and she looked at everyone else.
“Cap! Get down here!” She yelled and you couldn’t help but keep smiling as you heard his footsteps and you took your spot on the floor with the help of Buck and they all gathered around.
“What? Is everyone ok?” He asked and he saw everyone gathered around.
“Y/N got here and she just collapsed.” Hen said keeping a straight face and he was quick to bend down.
“Baby, are you ok?” He asked, worry evident on his face and you nodded.
“Yea, I just light headed for a minute.” You said and that wasn’t all a lie.
“Let’s get you up and sitting on something more comfortable.” He said and you nodded as everyone helped you stand and then helped you up the stairs to the couch and he sat down beside you. You made sure to grab you the present and then once everyone was gone you decided it was time to tell him.
“Thank you, Baby. Our baby is going to be so lucky to have you as a dad.” You said casually letting it slip and it seemed like he caught on.
“What did you just say?” He asked and you smiled.
“Our baby is going to be so lucky to have you as a dad.” You said and you could see the gears turning and then you handed him the bag and he slowly took out the outfits.
“Are you serious?” He asked and you nodded.
“I am.” You said and then he got to the ultrasound picture and tears sprung to his eyes.
“When did you find out?” He asked
“3 days go.” You said and then he was pulling you into a hug.
“I thought you were told you couldn’t have kids.” He said breathlessly.
“I did too but they said the other doctor got it wrong. I can have kids.” You said and a wide smile broke out on his face and one did on yours too and happy tears sprung to your eyes.
“I’m so happy for us, Baby. You’re going to be a good mom.” He said “How far along are you?” He asked and you smiled.
“I’m happy to. You’re going to be such a good dad. 9 weeks so 2 months.” You said and then he was slipping off the couch and kneeling coming face to face with your stomach. Hands on your stomach and he started to speak.
“Hi, baby. It’s your dad. I promise to be a good one to you and I’ll love you and your mom unconditionally. Your mom is such an amazing mom so please don’t give her a hard time.” He said and you smiled as you ran a hand through his hair and you kissed his head. “You don’t know this but you're our little miracle. We can’t wait for you to be here in our arms.” He said and then pressed a kiss on your stomach and leaned up and kissed you.
“Congratulations, Daddy.” You said against his lips.
“Right back at you, Mommy.” He said, making you chuckle as he put his forehead on yours.
You both couldn’t wait for this baby. You both were going to love him or her unconditionally. It may be hard at times but you both had each other to lean on. Having each other to lean on is all that matters and so is having a healthy baby. You both were ready for this after trying for months and failing and getting told you couldn’t have kids. You finally had your miracle and you couldn’t wait to raise him or her. Your family was now becoming complete.

Father’s Approval

Warnings: allusions to sex, very slight angst
Summary; You and Buck have been dating for a while now, without your father, Captain Bobby Nash’s knowledge. And one day, the odds aren’t in your favour, and Bobby finds out about Buck and you.

Your morning was lovely so far, you woke up in a comfy bed, you had hot coffee already waiting for you when you woke up, and during your shower with Buck before you left, you used shampoo that made your hair surprisingly soft, it was a new part of your daily life. Another new part of your daily life, was Buck.
You'd known Buck almost four years, worked with him for two, and had been dating him for just over two months. You both quickly agreed to keep it under wraps for now, with you both being under the nose of your father, your fire captain, Bobby. Your dad loved you, more than words could ever begin to explain. He was however, overprotective to an overwhelming extent. You understood it, of course you did, he was always full of love and admiration for you, and always very protective, but especially since losing your younger brother and sister.
One of the many, many things you admired about Buck was his respect for your dad. You know he was just as nervous as you about upsetting your father with your new relationship. So you decided together that it would be best if nobody knew. Except Eddie, Eddie knew, but there wasn't much he didn't know about Buck so you weren't surprised.
You couldn't stop smiling when you were with Buck, even now, when you were by yourself in your car, you were smiling from the memory of Buck. You left his apartment in your car to go to the station, and he'd leave in his jeep a bit later, you guys weren't taking any chances getting caught.
Buck's apartment was significantly closer to the station than yours was, you liked it, you got to leave a fair bit later and the drive wasn't very long. It was only a few minutes before you were parked at the station, about to head inside. You quickly peaked into your rear view mirror, making sure your hair hid the marks that you couldn't really hide with makeup.
Usually, you and Buck made sure not to leave marks on each other, but last night you were both so hot and needy for one another, and it was a rough night, in the best way possible. You pulled your shirt sleeves further down your wrists to make sure the marks on them were hidden, then you finally went inside.
Everyone was upstairs, your dad at the kitchenette, Eddie, Hen, Chim, and Ravi all sitting at the table, coffees scattered around.
You sat down next to Hen, craning your neck to look back at her as she greeted you with a warm smile before her eyebrows narrowed.
"Y/n? What's wrong with your neck?" Your dad questioned you. It took you all of two minutes to get found out. You could feel your cheeks burning, you glanced at Eddie who seemed torn between staring at you and avoiding eye contact.
With a smile, you looked back at your dad. "It's nothing dad, no need to worry." You kept it short, sweet and simple. He left it alone, thankfully, but obviously there was some new tension, he was suspicious of you, you knew.
A few minutes passed, some of the tense energy dissipated in the room, but you blew it, again. Your sleeve rolled up when you reached for your coffee, Hen noticed it immediately, gasping before humming, immediately understanding. Unfortunately for you, it alerted your captain, who immediately gasped himself.
"Who's doing this? Is someone hurting you? Can-", Your father immediately began before Hen cut him off.
"Bobby- everything's alright! She's just, having some good time with a friend of her's... a male friend." She saved you, Eddie snickered softly and you wanted to throw something at him.
"You have a boyfriend? Why didn't you tell me?" You couldn't look him in the eyes, he looked so dejected like you knew he would.
“Well, I just wasn’t ready to talk about it y’know?” Your voice shook slightly. You felt so anxious, in this situation you were risking your relationship with your dad, as well as Buck’s relationship with him. You wondered how this would affect your relationship with Buck.
“Okay, well. You know you can talk to me. When you’re ready.” Bobby smiled, his cheek twitched which gave away how awkward he felt. Still, you were grateful that he was giving you your space, and giving you the respect you desired.
You smiled and nodded, looking down at the table and prayed that nobody could see the blush on your face or tell how anxious you were feeling. You almost spared a glance at Eddie, but you were confident that he was already looking at you holding his laughter.
Footsteps up the stairs distract you from this, you are grateful for the attention to be elsewhere, but then immediately you were anxious once you realize it was Buck.
Everything seemingly went back to normal, Buck dropped his bag on the counter, grabbed some food from the kitchen and took a seat next to Eddie, your dad handed him a cup of coffee, and he took it gratefully. However, it seemed like everything was working against you both. They fumbled along the way and hot coffee got spilled over Buck’s, arm and chest.
First, you were worried about him getting burnt, then you wanted to help him clean the mess. But instead, Buck just pulled off his shirt.
“Always be prepared, right?” Buck smirked and turned around to his bag, presumably to grab a shirt, but what he accomplished was revealing the scratch marks you’d left along his back, as well as the hickeys below his collarbone.
You felt like you were going to throw up, first you look at your dad he was just rolling his eyes, buck was a player. Of course he’d have scratch marks on his back. Then you looked at Eddie whose face was just as red as yours only from holding in laughter.
“Oh! It’s Buck! Buck’s your new boyfriend!” Ravi exclaimed, everyone’s eyes were on you, including your boyfriend and your father. He looked at Buck and then back at you.
“Please see me in my office.” You couldn’t read Bobby’s tone, he went for the stairs, you and Buck didn’t waste any time going after him.
The energy in his office was tense. He was at his desk while you and Buck sat in front of him. He was looking at you both, you couldn’t tell if he wanted one of you to speak before he did or not.
“Captain I-” Buck couldn’t get two words in before your dad cut him off.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked his arms were leaning against his table, he looks like he wanted to stand up, but held back. “ why didn’t you think you could tell me?”
“Dad I’m sorry, we wanted to. We just weren’t sure if it was the right idea right now. I didn’t wanna make you upset, and I know there’s some rules about fraternizing with coworkers, we were just trying to play it safe.” Your mouth was going a mile a minute you were sure that you were visibly anxious, Buck reached over and grabbed your wrist with his hand, holding it gently gliding his thumb against your skin.
“Bobby I really care about your daughter. Honestly she she means the world to me I don’t wanna cross any boundaries but I really enjoy being with her and I would never hurt her or anything like that I promise” Buck swore, his grasp on your wrist tightening just slightly.
“Buck. I know you’re not going to hurt her. I know you’re going to treat her the way she deserves. I’m not mad at you for being in a relationship. If anything Y/n I wouldn’t want anyone less than Buck for you.” Bobby shook his head. “ I’m just sorry that you both felt like you had to hide it from me. You’re my daughter and I love you. Buck, you’re like a son to me. I love you too. If you want my approval you have it, please just know you don’t have to hide that from me.”
“Thank you, dad, really. I’m sorry we didn’t come to you before we were just- I don’t know, nervous.” You smiled softly at your dad, leaning your head towards Buck slightly.
It was comfortable in the room for a moment, your dad looked at Buck again. “Buckley if you ever leave a mark on my daughter again I will knock your teeth out.”
“Yes sir.” Buck’s reply was immediate, and you smiled slightly, knowing there would definitely be more marks in the future.

When the sun finally crests over the horizon, it brings white, fluffy clouds with it. The light smell of cherry tobacco lingers in the air inside of the house, like fingerprints left behind a the scene of a crime.
When Natasha rose that morning, she crinkled her nose at the unfamiliar smell. It travelled with her from the hall and down the stairs. There is something unsettling about it and the way it ghosts over the inside of her lungs- like unshared secrets and old coffee rings.
Sunny finds Natasha flipping pancakes, her back to the rest of the room as she works. The scent of the pancakes takes over the room, but Natasha still finds it difficult for her shoulders to relax, to pull her senses from the foreign smell in the air.
"Good morning, Nash," Sunny hums, trying to cover up a yawn. Natasha replies with her own greeting, stacking a fresh tower of flapjacks onto a plate. She offers it to Sunny, who takes it with a gentle smile.
The sun is streaming in through the large bay window at the back of the house, leaving spots of pure sunshine warming the hardwood floor. The curtains wave in the gentle morning breeze, the ever present smell of saltwater rolling in with it. The scene the two women find themselves in is beautifully domestic. Though the thought never crosses Natasha's mind, it makes Sunny think of home.
It's the breeze she misses the most- crisp and fresh, blurring cold over her skin. She misses the feeling of pulling her large jacket closer to her body on chilly mornings, hiding in the warmth hidden between the stitches of the fabric. She misses wearing jeans in the summertime and the need to wear boots.
Most of all, Sunny misses sneaking into the high school's pool to watch the swim team practice before school. From the way the humidity in the room would ease the gooseflesh that broke out over her skin from the walk in, to walking to class with Bob those first few months of freshman year- before everything went wrong between them.
She still snuck into swim practice every morning, even after Bob decided to throw away their friendship. She used to claim it was because it was routine, something that she was used to doing everyday. She would say that she hated breaking routine, that she thrived off of it, when in reality, she was there to see Bobby.
Of course she was- because she never gave up on him, even if he gave up on her.
"How'd you sleep?" Natasha questions, drizzling her own stack of pancakes with syrup. Sunny sits down at the bar top, pulling herself up in to one of the stools. The syrup is passed along with the tray of butter, the quiet of the morning more present than not.
"You know exactly how my night went," Sunny chuckles, wagging her fork in her best friend's direction. Natasha shoots her a questioning look complete with furrowed brows and a tilt of her head.
"Who else would've brought me back to bed this morning, you goober?" Sunny shoves a forkful of food into her mouth, a bit of butter smudging itself to the corner of her mouth.
"Sunny, I don't know what you're talking about," The giggles leaving Natasha's lips are soon covered up by a fork full of pancake. Sunny is not convinced.
"You know exactly what I mean," Sunny chides with a roll of her eyes, "I got locked out of my room sometime in the middle of the night and I guess I must have fallen asleep in the hallway. You unlocked my door and brought me back to bed,"
Sunny speaks like it's the most obvious thing, with a shrug of her shoulders. She continues to cut into her breakfast, not thinking too much about it.
Natasha thinks over her night, positive she wasn't the one who put Sunny back to bed. Then, a small smirk creeps over her lips. She leans over the bar top, bringing her hand up to Sunny's face. The other woman stops mid fork lift, making eye contact with her friend. Natasha swipes the smudge of butter from the corner of Sunny's lips.
"What's the last thing you remember about last night?" The grin on her lips is growing by the second. She pours two cups of coffee into mugs. They are plain in decoration, just dark blue in color. She noticed this morning when she pulled the mugs from the cupboard that Bob's mug was gone from it's usual place.
"You mean besides falling asleep in the hallway?" Sunny's words are met with a nod. She takes another bite, chewing slowly as she gets her thoughts together.
"I crawled into the back of Bradley's car and fully passed out. Between the long drive in yesterday with Jake and the flight with..." Sunny's voice trails off at the end as the pancakes in front of her become the most interesting thing in the room.
Natasha leans her body against the counter top, a knowing smile adorning her face. "I didn't bring you back to bed last night," Her voice is quiet but easily heard in the quiet of the morning. Sunny pulls her bottom lip between her teeth, rolling the fullness of it gently before letting is slip back out. She continues this action as she tries to piece together her next thought.
"Bobby," Phoenix almost misses the word between the clinking of Sunny's fork on her plate and the quiet creak of the steps. Sunny stares down at her plate, her forehead resting against her knuckles, completely lost in thought.
She doesn't notice the creek of the stairs or the way Phoenix pushes herself from the counter and busies herself with her own plate of food. She doesn't notice the way Natasha tries to hide her smile behind her mug of coffee as she brings it to her lips or the way she sighs over the top of it after a moment of holding her breath.
---
When Bob wakes, his thoughts are still tangled up with images of Sunny. From the way his shirt fit over the frame of her body, slightly clinging to the curvature of her hips, to the way she looked with her head pressed to his shoulder. The look of peace had been sculpted into her features and Bob couldn't seem to get it out of his mind.
The craving for tobacco eats at his chest, his palms a bit itchy when he focuses too hard on it. He wants to reach for the silver case, to smoke another cigarillo and feel the way the tendrils of smoke caress his lungs, but he doesn't. Bob knows he shouldn't smoke inside, even if it's in his own room, in his own home. He knows that if Phoenix ever found out she would kill him.
First of all, she doesn't know that Bob is a smoker- hell, he became good at covering his tracks the moment he stepped foot in California.
In the eyes of the average Californian, Bob is the enemy. From his accent that sticks out from those of the coast, to the way his clothes fit. They hate his uniform and what it stands for. They hate his boots almost as much as they hate his flight suit. They hate the truck he drives and the plane he flies in- both too consuming of fossil fuels. And, maybe most of all, they hate the fact that he smokes. So, he started hiding it. It wasn't like he was living a lie or denying the fact that he may or may not enjoy tobacco a little too much, he just wasn't exactly forward about it.
So Phoenix never found out about Bob's little habit.
It became a small moment for Bob to steal away from himself. Usually in the dark veil of the California night, under the blankets of smog and darkness, Bob could take a walk and smoke until his the thick, overwhelming feelings from the training day fade into nothing more than the past behind him.
But since Sunny walked back into his life, he wanted to smoke as often as he wanted to breathe. It isn't for the nicotine that would buzz under his skin or the way the smell of cherry would cling to his clothes. It isn't even the fact that she's there with him now, right across the hall. Instead, it's the desire to go backwards in time- to the part of his life where he would smoke a cigarillo before swim practice and watch as she would pull into the parking lot of the school. He would wait there just to catch a glimpse of her, to see the friend he threw away- to see the girl he loved.
He wants to smoke now. The tingle of the nicotine would mingle with the butterflies in his stomach that came from the sight of her and everything would feel just as it used to; he would feel sixteen again.
Bob pulls himself from the prison of his bedsheets. They are coated in sweat, sticking to his already clammy skin. He didn't sleep well, the evidence of his tossing and turning laying in darkness under his eyes.
Today, Bob pulls his clothes from the back of his closet, the forgotten garments of his past. Jeans that are worn in, in just the right places and faded to match. He pulls his belt through the loops, taking notice of how his thighs fill out the legs of his jeans more thoroughly than they used to. When he pulls his Carhart t-shirt on, he notices how the sleeves strain a bit around the fullness of his biceps, much like his uniform top does.
Once Bob is dressed, boots and all, he brushes his teeth as quietly as he can in the bathroom, afraid of waking Sunny up with the sound of running water. He can feel the itchiness of need in his palms again; he pushes the his toothbrush so hard against his teeth that his gums bleed.
He doesn't bother to style his hair, instead, he plops his hat atop his head as he heads for the stairs. He takes the stairs quietly, but a gasp from the kitchen stops him in his tracks, the stair creaking under his weight.
"What is it?" Sunny looks up at Natasha, over her hands. Phoenix's own hands have come up to cover her now gaping mouth, her eyes wide with surprise. Then, her lips quirk up a bit, and her hands lower just a smidge, enough for Sunny to see the smile blooming in real time.
Natasha's eyes trace over the shirt that is hanging over Sunny's frame, her gaze lingering over the US NAVY crest that is center on her chest. Her mind is brought back to what Bradley said yesterday, "I also threw some of your clothes from the dryer at the end of the bed for her." Suddenly, Natasha doesn't feel guilty about drying her clothes with the load Bob had left in the dryer.
"Nash? What is it?" Sunny asks again, her hands dropping to her lap.
"That's not my shirt," The words leave Natasha's lips like they are the most obvious thing in the world. Like Sunny would have known that the shirt she had pulled on in the middle of the night, that Bradley had left at the end of the bed for the other woman, wasn't hers.
Natasha walks around the counter to look at the back. Sure enough, the words "NAS LEMOORE" are printed large across her shoulders. Natasha's smile only grows in size, like the Grinch's heart on Christmas.
"What?"
"That's not my shirt," Natasha says again, with more confidence and knowing this time. She shrugs her shoulders as she rounds back around the counter. She takes another bite of her pancakes.
"Who's shirt is it then?" Sunny asks, her voice a bit defeated. She already knows the answer.
"Bobby's" The smirk is evident in her voice, Sunny doesn't even have to look at her face.
"Of course it is," Sunny rakes her hand down her face, letting the weight of it pull at her cheeks.
"It looks good on you," Natasha compliments, again like it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Thanks," Sunny's voice falls flat, "For it being Bobby's it sure doesn't smell like him."
This time it's Sunny's turn to say something so out of pocket like it's not. Natasha quirks an eyebrow at her before leaning across the table. Sunny leans forward and pulls at the excess fabric of the shoulder, bringing it towards her friend. Nat takes in a deep breath, trying to pick up on anything different about the garment. There are traces of leftover perfume on it, no doubt from Sunny's skin, but other than that, it smells exactly like Phoenix was expecting it to.
"Oh shit," Sunny mumbles, rolling her eyes, "I guess he never told you either, huh?"
"Told me what?"
"That he smokes! God, for being his friends, you guys really don't know Bobby. I was just talking about this exact thing to Bradley yesterday! He didn't know about the smoking either!" Sunny is laughing now. "God, even your house smells like the tobacco he smokes, and you didn't know!"
Sunny can't stop the laughter from bubbling out of her and the sound does little to quell the frustration that is rising in Phoenix.
"Hell, at this rate I could probably tell you exactly what he is going to wear today with more accuracy than a carnival psychic, and you'd be taking a shot in the dark!" Sunny is cradling her stomach, now cramping form laughter, as she chokes the words out between heaving breathes.
"You wanna bet?" Natasha asks, her pride getting the better of her.
"Absolutely,"
"I'll go first," Natasha leans across the table, making a show of tapping her finger to her chin like she is thinking. "Well, he's off work today, and he always wears the same thing when he is off work, so I am going with Khakis and a nice button up shirt."
"Khakis?!" Sunny busts out in another fit of uncontrollable giggles, "Khakis, fuck, Nash, you are going to kill me if you keep that shit up," Sunny runs a knuckle under her eye, wiping away a tear that is threatening to fall down her face.
"Jeans, probably faded around the thighs, and a t-shirt since it's warm out. Boots, and a hat, for sure. Can't forget the cowboy hat,"
"Cowboy hat?!" It's Phoenix's turn to burst into laughs now. "Robert Floyd, in a cowboy hat? That's a fucking picture,"
"It's what he wore everyday in school, except when it got cold. I remember he had this awful green sweater that had all of these holes in the knit near the collar. God, he wore that thing all the time, but one thing for sure is he always had his hat!" Sunny drags a finger over her heart, crossing it.
Bob looks down at his clothes, smiling to himself. Maybe it was his subconscious, dressing like he did while they were growing up, or maybe it was fate, but Sunny was right.
"I guess we will have to wait for him to come down and see," Phoenix says, the end of her sentence more forward than the rest.
"Yeah, I guess," Sunny shrugs, turning her attention back to her now room temperature plate.
"Yeah, he always gets a cup of coffee around this time," Natasha draws her words out a bit, trying to make it clear that she knows that he has been listening in. The creak of the stairs gave him away.
So, Bob takes a deep breath, adjusting his hat on his head before walking down the rest of the stairs.
"Hey, Phoenix, I am going to head to base, I got'ta pick up a couple things, do you need anything?" He asks, rounding the corner and entering the room. The cool air blowing through the kitchen meets Bob's already red cheeks, the feeling welcome against his warm skin.
Phoenix all but drops her coffee cup at the sight of him. She eyes him from hat to boots and then back up again. Her mouth hangs open for a second before she catches herself, a whisper of 'oh my god' leaving her lips. Bob just stands there like he is on full display for the women, his large hands buried in his pockets.
That is a reaction Bob was ready for.
Sunny looks over her shoulder, a small, knowing smile dancing on her lips. It's gone with a hitch of her breath, almost as soon as he sees it. It's replaced with a sadness swimming through her glassy eyes. He swears he can see the expanse of their entire relationship flickering just behind her irises, gray toned and faded like old film. It is short and bitter, just like the bile creeping up the back of his throat.
That is a reaction Bob could have never prepared for.

Hey! I write you for a request 911 with bobby/femreader. Can you do one angst with bobby drunk? We help him and he said "i love you" Sorry for my English ^^'
hi nonnie! i can of course write this for you :) i hope you like it ❤️
Pairings: Bobby Nash x fem!Reader
Warnings: alcoholism, angst, sadness, i’ve never really been around drunk people so i apologize for any bad writing that comes from lack of experience
Note: so i wrote this so it fits with a series i’m working on, you don’t really need the context of the series for this to make sense but once it comes out it can be seen as backstory and their kids are the same too :)
I Love You
Tumblr media
It had been a long day. Those seemed to be endless the past few months. It felt like you were just barely treading water, head bobbing up and down below and above the surface. It was hard, but you had to have faith it would get better, somehow it always did.
“Mama, when’s dad coming home,” your oldest daughter yawned.
“I don’t know sweetie,” you shook your head, gently resting a hand against her cheek and bending down to kiss her forehead. “I'll make sure he comes and kisses you goodnight.”
“Me too?” Mariella gave you a wide grin with a few missing teeth and you chuckled and nodded your head.
“Of course, Mari. Daddy will come give you a kiss goodnight too,” you assured her and bent down to give her a kiss goodnight.
“He promised he’d be here tonight,” Erin sighed and turned to face the wall and you pressed your lips in a thin line.
“I know, but I’m sure it was something important that came up,” you said quietly.
You could see Erin silently nod her head and you squeezed your eyes shut, before focussing back on Mariella. You stayed next to her a little while longer until she drifted off and when you turned to check, Erin was already fast asleep.
You carefully snuck out of the room and closed the door behind you only to hear the front door’s lock click and you could see your husband walking inside.
You swallowed thickly, but your throat felt itchy and scratchy.
After Bobby locked the door behind him he came and greeted you with a hug and a kiss and you winced when you tasted the whiskey on his lips. You pushed away from him and faced the wall.
“You were drinking again,” you whispered.
“And?”
“And, Bobby? Really?” you turned around so he could see the pained expression that overcame your face. “You promised the girls you’d be here before they went to bed.”
“Honey-,”
“Bobby don’t!” you shook your head and stepped away more. “Something happened okay? You got hurt, you can’t go back in time and change that, but you have two daughters and a wife,” your voice began to break, “who need you in one piece, body, mind, and spirit.”
“‘M not the same,” he shook his head.
“I’m not asking you to be,” you whispered. “I’m asking you to get better, please Bobby, if you can’t do it for yourself do it for Erin, do it for Mari.”
“I can’t get better,” he said, but his eyes had that blank glaze over them, pale and grey-looking. “I can’t.”
“But you can,” you begged, your legs shook until you couldn’t hold yourself up anymore and you fell to your knees, sobbing into your hands. “Bobby please, please, please.”
You didn’t know what else to say, but these past few months had reduced you to nothing, begging on your knees for him to get help, to go to rehab, to get sober.
Drunk or not, Bobby could never handle one thing, and that was seeing you cry. It tugged so hard on his heartstrings that it made tears form in his eyes and begin to stream down his face.
He had caused this.
It was his fault.
And that’s what he told himself over and over and over until he felt worthless, undeserving of your love and compassion, or that of his daughters for that matter, but that didn’t mean they deserved to be left in the dark.
Bobby carefully lowered himself to your level and placed a hand on the side of your head brushing away some of your tears with his thumb.
You removed your hands from your face and reached out to hold his, transferring your tears from your cheeks to his.
“I can’t do this alone Bobby, we have to get through this together,” you sniffed and hiccuped.
“I-I know,” he mumbled. “I just wanted to be your rock. I needed to numb the pain.”
“Sweetheart, I hear you and you don’t have to take that on. But you need to get help so you don’t have to numb the pain like that any more.”
Just when you thought you were getting through to him, like something might have clicked, it shifted again and he shook his head, like he couldn’t imagine coping with the situation any other way, like this was the only way he’d be able to get rid of what he was feeling.
“I-I love you.”
You know he meant for it to comfort you, but in his slurred voice it only haunted you and brought more tears to your eyes.
You pulled away from him and stood up and began walking towards your bedroom.
“Tell me that when you’re sober.”

Eddie Diaz x Fem!reader
⚠️TW:⚠️ swearing, mentions of physical abuse, alcohol, drugs, mentions of abandonment
Angst, Physical Abuse, Healing/Trauma
Eddie finds out that Y/n's father is physically abusing her when she shows up to the station covered in fresh bruises, blood, and tears.
.......
For years, Y/n's father had been taking drugs and drinking his life way. And everytime he did, he would take his rage out on her. Leaving her broken, hurt, bloodied, and just scared. But, the day she met Eddie Diaz at the Santa Monica Pier when he was with his son, she would never forget it.
Fast forward a few years, Y/n and Eddie stated dating, and Christopher loved her as much as Eddie did. It was a mid morning, when Eddie got to work for his shift. Y/n was home alone when her father showed up. Angry that she had left him alone to fend for himself and he took his anger out on her, leaving her there to die.
After he left, she had blood dripping down the side of her face, she had a busted lip, her eye was bruised badly, and her nose was bleeding but she managed to get to the station somehow.
Tumblr media
She limped her way inside, just as Hen came down the stairs and saw the shape she was in. "Oh my god!" She rushed over, catching Y/n in her arms before she fell. "Guys! I need help down here!" Hen called into the radio.
Bobby was the first to come down, followed by Buck, Chimney, and Eddie. Eddie's face froze when he saw his girlfriend beaten so badly. He rushed over. Bobby started to hold him back, "No!" He pushed his way to Y/n.
Eddie kneeled down, "Y/n? Who did this to you?" He asked, whe examining her face.
"M-my father. He-he came by after you left and beat me. He said-" She broke into sobs again. "He said it was my fault!" Eddie shook his head, "No, nothing is your fault. That drunk son of a bitch will pay for this."
"Eddie, let Athena handle this, I've called her and let her know what the situation is." Bobby said, coming back from taking a phone call from Athena.
"Y/n, follow the light for me." Hen asked sweetly. She followed the light or tried to at least. "Yeah, she has a concussion."
Buck helped Eddie get Y/n to the couch to rest. "Buck is going to stay here with you while we're out on calls. Alright? And if you need me for anything, Buck knows how to reach me." Eddie kissed her head softly. "Buck, here's some money if you or her get hungry." Eddie tried to hand money to Buck.
"No, keep it. I'll pay for the food if she gets hungry." Buck pushed Eddie's hand away.
"Thanks, man." Eddie said with a smile. He was still very much worried about Y/n. And the fact that he just found out about the abuse, he was not happy. But he wasn't mad at her. He was mad at the low life that called himself a father.
Later that day, Eddie just got off his shift, he took Y/n home and got her settled into their bed. He brought her dinner that he made for the three of them. Him, her, and Chris. He laid beside her. "How long has he been hurting you? And be honest with me." Eddie said calmly and softly.
Y/n looked up at him, her eyes filled with sadness and fear which Eddie could see. "Ever since my mother left and never came back. I was three then. He started drinking heavily and got into drugs. Meth, weed, cocaine. You name it. And he became more violent towards me. He blamed me for my mom leaving us. He then started beating me everyday of my life." Her small voice broke Eddie's heart to hear her say it.
"He will never touch you again. Athena tracked him down and he is now locked away." Eddie kissed her head. "You are safe with me and-"
"Me!" Chris had come into the room. He softly yet gentally climbed into the bed between his father and Y/n.
"Yeah, what my son said." Eddie laughed. Y/n smiled and chuckled. "You two are something." Y/n laughed. "That's why I love you both."
After awhile, Eddie, Chris, and Y/n all fell asleep after a long, tiring day. But during the night, Y/n woke up from a pounding headache which had her crying. Eddie heard her and quickly got up, which woke up Chris.
"Dad? What's going on?" Chris rubbed his sleepy eyes.
"Its Y/n." He rushed to her side. "Hey, hey, what's going on, baby, talk to me." Eddie said soothingly.
"M-my head hurts so bad." Tears streamed her face. "Come here." Eddie helped her back into the bed. He handed her the pain meds and handed her a bottle water. After she drank it, she became sleepy.
Eddie climbed back into bed with Chris asleep against him and Y/n, who also had fallen back to sleep not long after.
Eddie never went back to sleep. He stayed awake making sure Y/n was alright. It didn't bother him because he was used to staying up all night when working 24 hour shifts.
The next morning, Eddie cooked breakfast while Chris and Y/n were still asleep. He heard a knock and walked over to a answer the door. "Buck, hey, come in." He stepped aside as Buck walked in. "How's Y/n?" He asked, standing with his hands in his pockets.
"She had a rough night. Her head hurt her a lot. I set up a doctor's appointment for her with the neurologist to see if anything else is wrong with her head. She just fell asleep early this morning after the pain med I gave her."
"I take it you didn't much sleep either?" He noticed the burnt toast. "Let me help, Eddie." Buck offered. Eddie stepped aside, too tired to argue. "Alright, I'm going to get Chris up and check on Y/n." He headed off to their room that they shared. He saw Chris asleep against Y/n with her arm around him.
He smiled, and quickly took a few pictures then decided to let them sleep longer. He showed Buck. "Awe, your son really does love her, huh?" He smiled that goofy smile.
"Yeah, he really does. He called her mom the other day when we were out getting lunch but she doesn't know it yet. I told him to wait until I asked her to marry me which will be on her birthday in a few weeks." Eddie smiled.
"Wow, I'm happy for you, man. Really proud too. Keep me posted on what they say about her head." Buck just put the plates on the table along with silverware. "Breakfast is done." Buck shouted, proudly.
Chris came into the kitchen shortly after, followed by Y/n. Eddie kissed her cheek. "How are you feeling, baby?" He asked.
"I feel a little bit better, still sore." Y/n smiled over at her boyfriend. He helped her sit down and handed her a plate of food. "Are you staying for breakfast, Buck?" Eddie asked.
"I can, yeah." He sat down, after getting a plate for himself. Chris was just eating away his food. Eddie watched Y/n carefully, making sure she was alright. He was still worried but didn't want to overstep her boundaries.

And then buck gets hurt or something and they meet reader. Athena loves her and then can we have a scene of buck&reader with the fire kids.
Emergency Contact
Tumblr media
Evan Buckley x Reader
Warnings: fem!reader, mentions of hospitals and injuries, a mention of pregnancy
Category: Angst and fluff
Word Count: 3.3k
Author’s Note: Italics is a flashback :)
----
A house fire, a normal occurrence for the 118. They arrive, Buck and Eddie make their way through the house whilst Hen and Chim tend to the others. The family that lived there, the Smiths, couldn't find their daughter outside and figured she was still inside so they had gone in to find her.
Buck and Eddie had spilt up when they got inside, Buck going left and Eddie going right. Eddie had found the little girl and managed to get her out of the house, her parents were grateful that he brought her back to them.
“Where’s Buck ?” Bobby turns to Eddie.
Eddie glances around, unsure as to where his friend was. “I thought he was right behind me, I swear I saw him on the stairs”
Bobby radioed, “Buckley, come in”
Before they could get an answer, there was a loud crash from inside the house. Eddie and Bobby run back in to see Buck on the floor of the kitchen, the ceiling had a massive hole in it and he was covered in dust. Buck tries to sit up a little too fast but falls onto his back. It seems like the floor had given out under him and he had fallen through.
“Buck?” Eddie calls to him, checking his pupils. “Yeah, definite concussion,” he tugs on Buck’s coat, feeling his abdomen area. “At least 2 broken ribs, if not more.” Eddie looks up at their captain, his hand still gently feeling Buck’s abdomen.
Bobby comes over, grabbing Buck’s feet as Eddie sits Buck up carefully and loops his arms under his. The two men carry him out, Chimney rolling a stretcher over to them. From that point, Hen and Chim took over, checking his vitals and if they had missed any other fractions or broken bones. The ambulance pulled off first, Chimney in the driver’s seat and Hen in the back with Buck. The firetruck followed, both vehicles headed to the hospital.
---
“Did anyone call Maddie ?” Hen breaks the silence filled waiting room. Bobby looks up at her, Hen speaks again, “she is his emergency contact, isn't she?”
Something about that didn’t sound right to Bobby. He hadn’t been there when Buck started as a probie but he had gone over everyones forms when he became captain. He can’t remember who Buck’s emergency contact was but he didn’t think it was Maddie.
“Does anyone have her number ?” Bobby asks, no one answers. “I’m gonna head back to the station, I'll give her a call and come back. If anything changes, let me know?” Eddie answers with a yeah and Bobby heads out.
Once he arrived back at the station, he searched through the drawers of files - which truthfully, should be organized better, but that was a problem for another time. Once finding the file, his finger runs down the page. Maddie’s name was on the form but as a secondary contact. y/n l/n was the name listed as primary contact so he called this mystery woman. She answers after the first 2 rings.
“Hi, is this y/n?”
“It is, who’s this?”
“I’m captain Bobby Nash with the 118.”
“What can I do for you, captain ?”
“You’re listed as Evan’s primary emergency contact.” there was a pause in the conversation, the line had gone silent.
“Yeah, is he alright ?” the woman’s voice returns.
“He fell through the floor during a call today. He has a concussion and a few broken ribs- one of the ribs seems to have punctured a lung and he’s in surgery now. I was calling to notify you, we’re at the hospital if you’d like to join us”
“Thank you for calling, I'll be there soon” and with that, she hung up. Bobby still had no idea who this woman was or how she knew Buck. The lack of emotion in the call didn’t help him gauge who it might be. He pushed the thought from his mind and called Maddie - surely whoever this y/n woman was, was obviously important to Buck if she was listed before Maddie but Maddie was his sister and she deserved to know so he called her anyways.
When Bobby returned back, Buck was still in surgery. He sat down just as Athena arrived. A box of donuts in one hand and one of those huge containers of coffee in the other, Bobby got up and helped her, not before pressing a kiss to her cheek.
“You didn’t have to come by,” he tells her as he sets the thing of coffee on the table in the middle of the room, she gives him a small smile. “Buck might be trouble but he’s still one of ours. I’d show up for any of them, you know that” she nudges him with her shoulder softly, he smiles at her once more. Everyone gets up, helping themselves to the coffee and donuts that Athena brought- they all thanked her as they all know the horrors of hospital food.
A woman walks in, she’s at the nurses desk which is across from where the team sat. She’s asking for Evan Buckley and the nurse points her in the direction of the team in the waiting room. She approaches, her hands shoved in her sweater pocket- rather Buck’s sweater pocket. Bobby had seen him show up to work in that very sweater a few days before.
“You must be y/n” Bobby stands, his hand stretched out to her.
“I am, you’re Bobby, right ?” your hand comes out to reach his, shaking it. It didn’t take long for Bobby to notice the large diamond on your ring finger. Your hand lets go of his, returning to its spot in your pocket. Bobby gives you a small smile which you mirror.
“Everyone, this is y/n. Buck’s- sorry, I didn’t ask. How do you know Buck?” Bobby asks you, you glance around the room. Everyone's eyes were on you.
“I’m Buck’s-”
“Y/n!” a woman calls for you. Turning around, you see Maddie approaching you. “Mads!” your arms open as she gets closer. She embraces you in a hug, your hand rubbing up and back her back.
“Did you hear anything yet ?” she asks you, letting you go. Shaking your head, “I just got here”
“You know her too ?” Chimney pipes up from his chair, Maddie looks over at him. “Yeah, obviously. She’s Buck’s fiancee” she tells him, the entire room goes silent.
You look over at your sister in law, “they didn’t know that yet Mads” chuckling, you pat her back before taking a seat across from a woman in a police uniform. Maddie’s eyes went wide, her mouth slightly opened in shock. “Sorry! I thought you told them” she says, sitting beside Chimney. “I was about too but you called for me”
Everyone’s attention is on you, the woman sitting across from you speaks up. “Well, it’s nice to meet you” she says, “I’m Athena, Bobby’s wife” she introduces herself.
“Ah, so the whole family’s in law enforcement huh ?” you smile, Athena chuckles. “Seems like it. What do you do ?”
“I’m a nurse over at General”
“I thought I had seen you somewhere before” Athena smiles.
The room goes back to quiet, the team talking amongst themselves. Maddie sat beside you and on her other side was Chimney, you had seen him for the pictures Maddie showed you when she started seeing him. Beside him was a woman, she wore glasses and had a friendly smile- Hen. Buck had told you about her and her wife, they seemed like nice people. Sitting beside Hen was a man, cute with somewhat of a resting bitch face- that was Eddie, Buck’s best friend. Buck practically lived at his house when you worked night shifts and you had also seen a million and one photos of his son, Christoper, who was the sweetest little boy on the planet from what you had heard.
Your hand rested on your lap, your thumb pushing and pulling the engagement ring on your finger back and forth.
“He must really love you because that’s one hell of a rock” Athena was pacing the room and was now beside you, her hand reaching for yours to take a closer look at the ring. You laugh, “it is, isn't it?”
“I have to ask, how long have you two been engaged ? Because he’s never mentioned you.”
“Oh I know,” you hum, “we like to keep things low key but um, it’s been 2 years since we got engaged. We aren't really in a rush to get married.” you tell her.
“2 years? That’s a long time to keep a secret like that”
“Yeah, it’s been a challenge- but it’s not like he didn’t want to tell you guys. He just didn’t know how. Oh you know how he is- actions over words.”
You and Athena talk a bit more, she tells you how Bobby proposed to her on Christmas Eve. She showed you a picture from when they got married- her own massive ring adorning her finger. You told her about how Buck proposed to you.
“Babe! The pancakes are going to get cold!” you shouted for your boyfriend from the kitchen of your apartment.
“I’m coming woman! Calm down” he shouts back, his footsteps coming closer with each step.
Buck had the weekend off and so did you- a rare occurrence for the two of you. You decided that instead of going out to get breakfast like you normally would, that you would cook instead. Hence why you were up at 10:15 on a Saturday morning and why your boyfriend’s shirt that you were wearing, was covered in flour and eggs.
Buck’s arms wrapped around your waist, your attention on the stove. His hands coming ups under your shirt to feel your bare skin, he was busy peppering kisses down your neck. You nudge him with your shoulder, “go sit down, I'll bring the pancakes over in a minute” you tell him and he hums. Pressing one more kiss to your neck, he untangles himself from you and goes to the table.
The layout of your apartment was a bit strange, the kitchen was by the front door but the kitchen didn’t have much space so your table was closer to your living room than the kitchen and there was a wall blocking you when you were in the kitchen so you weren’t able to see the table.
Now heading to the table with a plate in each hand, you were focused on not dropping the plates. That went out the window when you entered the room to see your boyfriend down on one knee with a velvet box in his hand.
“Buck” you breath
“Y/n, you are so amazing, you just- god, this is so cheesy but you really do take my breath away. Last night, I was laying beside you and I had this perfectly rehearsed speech that I was going to give you but it just doesn't make sense now. From the moment I met you, I knew you were special. You stood by my side and didn't complain when I worked long hours or didn't have time because I joined the fire department. You are the woman of my dreams and I would do anything for you. So I hope you would do me the honour of being my wife ?”
“Yes, oh my god yes” you lean down to kiss him. Buck smiles, “baby?”
“Hm?”
“You gotta put the plates down” he chuckles, you hadn't realized you were still holding the plates. Setting them down, Buck gets up. The ring that was in the box was now in his hand, he slid the ring on your finger. Holding your hand up, you admired the ring.
“I think this deserves a proper breakfast”
“I don’t think there’s anything better than this” he pulls you in for a hug.
Athena laughs when you tell her, “he ambushed you when you were making him breakfast ? This kid has no sense of the right time” you chuckles at her comment. “It was perfect. I don’t think I would have it any other way, you know?”
The doctor comes in, he asks for Buckley and all 7 of you stand. “Wow big group. Okay- we were able to patch the hole. He’ll need to be off work for the next 3-4 weeks before he can even consider going back but he should make a full recovery.” a few breaths of relief were let out around the room. “He’s in recovery now, I can take you in one at a time. Who would like to go first ?”
Everyone's looking at you and you glance over your shoulder. “Do any of you want to go ?” you ask, no one answers you.
“Maddie ?”
“I’m gonna get some air and some coffee and then I'll be there. Give him a hug for me” she gives your hand a squeeze, you smile at her. Following the doctor down the hallway, you pass multiple rooms all with different families and people with different injuries. That’s one of the things you enjoyed about the hospital- if you looked past all the sadness, there were so many success stories, so many happy families.
Room 276 at the end of the hall was his. Buck was asleep, a few wires and such were hooked to him. Pulling a chair up to his bedside, your hand reached for him, holding it gently as your thumb rubbed the top of it. Your eyes drift to his monitor by his bedside, steady heartbeat and blood pressure. There was nothing to be concerned about yet you couldn't look away.
“y/n,” a faint whisper left his lips, you glanced down at your fiancee, his eyes barely opened.
“Buck,” you smiled, your hand coming up to touch his face. He nuzzled closer to your hand, turning his head ever so slightly to press a kiss to the palm of your hand.
“Can I- water?” you let go of him to get the glass from the counter. Pouring some water in it, you stick the straw in the cup before holding the straw to his lips. He sighed and looked at you as you set the cup down. “I guess the secret’s out ?” he smiles, you nod.
“Maddie let it slip, but I was about to tell them so it’s fine” you kiss his forehead.
“Is everyone here?”
“Yeah, in the waiting room. They all thought you’d look horrendous so I came in to check, lucky me right ?” you joke, Buck lets out a weak laugh before his hand comes up to his chest.
“Ow, don’t make me laugh” he pouts, you smile at him. Sitting at the edge of the chair, your hand finds his hair, brushing it back softly.
“Surgery isn't a good look on you”
“Hey, I always look good” he pouts once more.
---
The few weeks go by a lot quicker than expected and Buck is set to return to the 118 on Monday. Athena had helped you plan a little surprise get together for Buck but you had just told him that you were headed over to Bobby and Athena’s for the day because you were going shopping with Athena. You left home around noon and helped them set up all day and you called Buck around 6.
“Hey babe, how’s shopping going ?”
“It’s alright, we’re back at the house now. Bobby was saying that you should swing by, we could all have dinner together”
“Hm yeah, that sounds good. I’ll be there soon”
Now you wait. The entire team was already there, everyone scattered amongst the living room, waiting for him to arrive. He knocked on the door, Athena shouted for him to come in. He walked in, everyone waited for him to round the corner, the surprise evident on his face.
“What’s all this?” he smiles, he makes his way down the stairs.
“Welcome back” Bobby goes over to give him a hug. Buck makes his way around the room, saying hello to everyone. Eventually, he finds you in the kitchen with Karen who says hello to him and then leaves the two of you in the kitchen.
“So did you really go shopping ?” he asks, his arm over your shoulder and your arm wraps around his waist.
“Yeah but for party supplies” you smile at him, he leans down and kisses your head. Chris, Denny and Harry all come into the kitchen on the hunt for sweets that you previously heard Eddie, Athena and Hen all telling them that they weren't allowed to have. Of course they assumed that if they sweet-talk Buck that he would give them, and he did, he never said no to those boys.
All three of them made themselves comfortable on the couch as Buck returned with a plate of cupcakes for them. Buck sat beside them, pulling you onto his lap.
“Do you have any scars from the surgery ?” Denny asks him, looking over at Buck. “Yeah, do you wanna see ?” Buck asks, the 3 boys nod eagerly. You smile at them, Buck unbuttons the top of his shirt, pulling it to the side to show the boys the scar from the surgery. It was fairly tiny but still noticeable.
“Woah that’s cool!” “Can I poke it?” “That’s weird looking”
You and Buck laugh at the responses- boys will be boys. The 3 boys ask a few more questions and Buck shows them a couple other scars that he had gotten over the year, eventually they get bored of Buck and his stories and go off to find someone else. You leave Buck in the living room as he was talking to Maddie and Chimney.
Now in the backyard, you and Athena were talking about when you'd actually go shopping when someone bumped into your leg. Looking down, you see Nia beside you, you pick her up and hold her, Nia sitting comfortably on your hip now. The two of you go along with your conversation and Nia cuddles into your side, you glance down at the little girl who was smiling at you, you give her a smile too.
Buck’s arm wraps around your shoulder, he presses a kiss to your temple. “Hey,” he smiles before leaning forward to take a peak at Nia, “Hey kiddo” he reaches out to hold her hand, she smiles at him.
“You 3 look comfortable together” Hen says as she makes her way over with Karen. Buck laughs.
“If you’re open to babysitting, feel free to take the kids anytime” Karen jokes, you smile. “I might take you up on that. It’d be like to have an actual kid around rather than just Buck” you laugh, Buck pouts. “Hey! I’m not that bad” the 3 women all give him looks. Athena pats his shoulder, “that’s what you think Buckaroo”
“Having the kids around would be good practice” Your fiancee thinks out loud.
“Practice for what, darling?”
“You know, one day maybe we’d have kids”
“Oh not now? Not a fan of the whole pregnancy glow thing ?”
“Oh I am, I do it right-” “don’t finish that sentence” you laugh, leaning up to give  him a kiss. You had a feeling that your fiancé’s family was about to become yours too.

Just a Number
Tumblr media
Bobby Nash x younger!fem!reader
summary: Buck and Eddie take Bobby to a club to meet someone and while he intends to go home alone, he ends up forming an unexplainable bond with you
cw: mention of grief and Bobby’s past, age gap (reader is 35 and Bobby is 58)
“See? Isn’t this great?” Eddie asked as he, Buck, and Bobby entered the club. Bobby had been to a few back in his day, but nothing like this. The lights weren’t as bright and the music wasn’t nearly as loud. Everyone there looked young enough to be his children and he felt like he didn’t fit in, no matter what the boys said.
“It’s…something.” Bobby replied as Buck patted him on the back, the three of them heading to an empty table towards the back. He was nervous to say the least. The man hadn’t been out like that since he didn’t know when. He never went to places like that. Especially not to pick up women. That was more Buck and Eddie’s speed.
A pretty waitress approached them, asking for their drink orders and while the others ordered beer, he settled on a club soda with lime. He was getting to the point where it didn’t bother him to be around alcohol. He didn’t feel tempted and if he was being honest, the smell made him feel kind of sick.
You watched Bobby from the dance floor, your eyes catching him as soon as he came into your view. He was a little older than you would have usually gone for, but you couldn’t help but be attracted to him. He didn’t carry himself like the two other men he was with and you liked that. That he was a little shy and awkward.
You watched him sip on his drink as you continued to dance, trying to move in a way that would get his attention, but to no avail. You might as well have not even existed with the way he seemed to be ignoring you, looking everywhere but you.
But unbeknownst to you, Bobby thought you were looking at Buck who was sitting next to him. Women didn’t usually hit on Bobby. At least, not women your age. They always went for the others in the group when they all went out after work.
He’d never admit it, but it kind of hurt watching them all take women home when he just went back to his place alone with nothing to keep him company but himself and the dog the rest of the 118 had adopted for him for his birthday to keep him company.
“You gonna dance, Cap?” Eddie asked, sipping in his beer as he eyed you, eyeing his boss.
“Yeah, Bobby,” Buck nudged him, his tone teasing. “You gonna show us your moves?”
“No, no,” Bobby shook his head. “I don’t think so.” He clearly didn’t understand what the boys were getting at, not catching on to what, or who they were referring to.
He couldn’t dance to save his life and he didn’t want to embarrass himself in front of all of those people, even if he was never going to see them again. He didn’t care if they were all too drunk to see how badly he was dancing, he just wanted to find someone who he was interested in so he could go home.
He appreciated what the boys were doing for him, but he could have gotten his own date. He didn’t need any help in that department. He was ready to get out there, but he wasn’t sure he had the confidence. Not like the boys sitting at the table with him.
You were trying to make your moves more sensual, your eyes locking on Bobby, but he didn’t seem to get the hint, still not looking your way. Most men would have already headed your way, your number already in their phone.
Bobby was different and you liked the chase, wanting to make him notice you. There were plenty of tricks that were still up your sleeve that you hadn’t used yet and you were fully prepared to use them on him.
You grabbed a napkin from the bar and a pen from your purse, quickly scribbling down your name and number before slowly making your way to the table with the three men. You held the napkin out to him, but he still wasn’t paying attention, very interested in his drink that he was stirring around with his straw.
“I think this one’s for you, Cap,” Buck nodded his head towards you and Bobby’s head shot up, his eyes locking on yours and you gave him a warm smile.
He turned around to look at Buck, but he just shook his head, turning Bobby’s so he’d look at you. He tried his best to subtly check you out, your silver dress hugging every inch of your body and your heels making your legs look long. You were one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen and he was convinced that you were definitely out of his league.
“Hey handsome,” you said. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that you were ignoring me.”
“Not ignoring,” he replied before clearing his throat. “I just-I don’t know that you were looking at me.”
“Well, I was. I’m y/n,” you put your hand out to shake and the man was too stunned to speak. There was now ay that you were actually hitting on him, right? It had to be a mistake.
“And this is Captain Bobby Nash of fire station 118 of the LAFD,” Buck introduced the man, feeling like he needed a little help, making sure to use his full title to make him seem even more impressive.
“Ah, a firefighter,” you nodded. “That’s hot.” Just imagining him in his uniform was making him seem even more attractive. “You should give me a call sometime. But in the meantime, why don’t you dance with me?” You held your hand out to him and he looked at his employees who gave him a thumbs up, both nudging him.
“I don’t think so,” he told you with a shake of his head and he suddenly felt guilty as he watched your flirty look turn into a disappointed one.
“Alright, well, I’ll be out there if you change your mind,” you replied then turned to head back to the dance floor while Bobby turned to Buck and Eddie.
“What was that?” Eddie ask, almost exasperated as he thought about the fact that Bobby had fumbled so hard.
“I don’t like to dance,” Bobby shrugged as he took another sip of his water.
“So you’re just not going to call her?” Buck leaned forward, looking the older man directly in the eyes, trying to see if he was sick or something because that would have been the only reason as to why he would have turned you down.
“It’s just a number, Buck.”
“This isn’t just a number, Bobby,” Buck replied, taking the slip of paper between his pointer finger and thumb, holding it in front of Bobby so that he could see it. “This is your gateway into the dating world. One phone call could lead to a date which could lead to another which could lead to an engagement which could lead to a marriage.”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” Eddie chimed in. “How about you just dance with her to start? And if it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out.”
Bobby sat with the words for a second and before he could stop himself, he was on his feet making his way over to you. Your movements were so fluid like you were meant to do it while his were stiff, like he didn’t know what to do. You thought it was adorable and took him by the hands, showing him to do it.
He smiled shyly, moving with you as you guided him, showing him the steps. It almost seemed like he didn’t know how to do that kind of thing and it was refreshing to you. Most men were terrible on the dance floor and had too much confidence but Bobby wasn’t, seemingly very open about his lack of moves. But he liked that you were quick to help him, finding it all endearing instead of making fun of him.
Pretty soon, he had picked up on your moves, following you as you turned this way and that, not even paying attention to the loud, thumping beat that was very loud in his ears. It was as if a spotlight had shone down on you as you were the only thing he could focus on.
Bobby had no idea why a woman as beautiful as you was even paying attention to him, but he wasn’t going to question it. He was just going to enjoy his time with you and now even think of the logistics. He hadn’t really dated much since Marcy’s passing so he was a little (very) rusty. It wasn’t like this would come of anything, though. He was just going to dance with you and that was it.
But then he found himself getting into the back of an Uber with you, cracking jokes like you were drunk, but he had been knocking back club sodas with lime and you hadn’t had another drink since you started dancing with him. He wasn’t going to sleep with you. He couldn’t just yet. He wanted to really get to know you first before you went to the next level.
“That did not happen,” you laughed and Bobby knew it was a little too soon, but he was beginning to think that he was in love. Your laugh was music to his ears. It gave him the feeling of hearing his favorite song on the radio as he sped down the highway with his windows down. He knew he had promised that he was just going to dance with you, but what was wrong about wanting to ask you out on a date? That qualified as getting back out there, right?
“It did,” Bobby, another chuckle falling from his lips. You fell into him, your lips right by his ear as you continued to laugh, your chuckles filling the entire backseat, enveloping the both of you in warmth. “He got caught in it and it just spun around and around until we got there.”
“That’s hilarious,” you said as you began to sober up. “I’d love to hear more of your stories.”
“Oh, enough about me,” he waved it off. “I want to hear more about your job.” You had told him that you were a middle school teacher and you thought that was pretty boring compared to firefighting, but Bobby seemed fascinated by it, wanting to know all of the ins and outs of it. “Tell me more about the show you’re putting on.”
“It’s Peter Pan and the kids are really excited.” Bobby loved hearing you speak. He didn’t care what the subject was, but he was convinced he could hear you talk for hours and not get bored.
“What about you? Are you excited?”
“Of course. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Everyone has been working really hard.”
“That’s really admirable. That you teach.”
“Well, thank you,” you nodded. “What you do is admirable as well. Being a firefighter and all. I mean, being a teacher is nothing compared to that. You’re saving lives.”
He didn’t know why, but Bobby was having a flashback to Minnesota. The fire that blazed all throughout the building. The screams that haunted his dreams more than he would have liked. Those lives that were lost were the whole reason why he even wanted to become a firefighter. He was just trying to overcompensate for what he had done and now he had really grown to love his job. And the family he had created with his team.
Being a firefighter had been what had led him to you, wasn’t it? And you were perfect. So sweet and kind that he was beginning to wonder what the catch was. And you were younger than him. He would have thought you would have gone for someone closer to your age, especially considering that there were a ton in the club.
But you had stuck by Bobby’s side the whole night, flirting with him and genuinely enjoying his company. You didn’t do it with many men, but you found yourself wanting to invite him up to your apartment. You wanted to curl up on the couch and watch a movie with him until the two of you fell asleep.
You wanted to make breakfast for him in the morning and kiss him while the coffee was being made. Was it weird that you were already imagining a future with this man that you barely knew? Maybe, but you had done crazier things.
“Well, this is me,” you pointed to the building outside your window as the car came to a stop. You seemed hesitant to go and Bobby didn’t want you to. He wanted to talk with you all night. Wanted to ask you out if he would have ever gotten the guts.
And as if you could have read his mind, you asked, “Do you want to come up?”
“I’d love to,” he smiled and the two of you got out of the Uber before you led him to the elevators that were actually working that time. It took you up to your floor and you led him to your door, only letting go to unlock the door then immediately taking his hand again.
Bobby looked around your apartment as you took off your shoes, admiring the way you decorated it. It was a cute little space and despite how little he knew about you, he thought that it was a great fit for you.
You grabbed his hand once again and pulled him over to your couch. You sat first and he followed, trying to be respectful and keep some space between the two of you, but you instantly closed it, not that you minded.
He could feel your warm, bare thigh through his jeans and thought he was going to go crazy from thinking about what it would have felt like to rest his hand on it. If it was as soft as he was imagining.
The tension was now palpable and you promised yourself that you weren’t going to screw everything up with Bobby that you always seemed to do with other men. You had to create boundaries and not let him in the door fully. But what could it hurt to leave a crack. He at least deserved that, right?
But before you could even process what you were doing, your lips were on his, albeit, still tentative, wanting to see if he had wanted it before you dove right in. And Bobby was quick to return your kiss. It was clumsy and messy, but neither of you cared, just addicted to the feeling of your lips slotted together.
Your hands fisted his shirt as he smiled against your lips, his hands rested on the small of your back. Bobby hadn’t kissed anyone in a long time but he felt like he was getting the hang of it again, wondering if you wanted to do it for hours as much as he did.
“I’m sorry,” you replied as you pulled away just in time to see his smile getting wider. God, he was so adorable that it was unfair.
“No need to apologize,” he replied. “I-I liked it.”
“Good,” you nodded, the two of you now smiling like idiots. “I could do it again…if you wanted me to.”
“Please do,” he said, almost sounding desperate. And your lips were on his in an instant, more gentle and intentional since you both now knew what you were doing.
You stayed like that for hours, kissing and giggling and talking until the early morning. You made him breakfast just like you had imagined and the two of you talked over runny eggs and coffee. And he went to work after that, nothing but smiles as the boys teased him about his new potential girlfriend. And Bobby was hoping that over the course of the next few weeks that you would be.

Bar Night
Requested by: Anon
Request: Can I request a 9-1-1 imagine? Evan Buckley X Reader. The reader works for the LAPD and is a friend of Athena. Athena decides to introduce her to Bobby and the others at a bar or something and Buck is very flirty?
Fandom: 9-1-1 (FOX)
Pairing: Bucky x Fem!Reader, Slight!Athena x Bobby
Warnings: One curse, one very small sexual reference so small you’ll miss it if you blink
Key:

“Good evening everybody!” Athena greeted her friends with her usual cadence you were quickly growing to love. “This is my coworker, Officer Y/n L/n. Y/n, this is everyone.”
Trying your best to make eye contact with as many people as possible, you smiled warmly. “Hi, everyone.”
A man with a buzz cut approached you. “Hi, I’m Bobby Nash. I’m the captain of these firefighters. Pleasure to meet you.” His words were kind, and Bobby stuck his hand out as an offer for you to shake it.
While you did, Athena sassily spoke out next to you, “You’re not captain of anything here, Bobby. Stop showing off.” She chuckled.
Suddenly, another man came to the side off Bobby. This one was taller than the captain, and younger, too. The new person had an almost arrogant smirk on his face. “Well, hello there,” he extended.
Immediately, Bobby all but stepped between you and the younger male. “No,” the man finalized.
Athena scolded the younger man as well. “Don’t even think about it.”
The taller male with the birthmark rolled his eyes. “Come on, guys! I was just saying ‘Hello.’”
“Not to Y/n, you’re not,” Athena stated.
Then, Athena and Bobby both commanded, “Get out of here, Buck.”
Buck put his hands up in surrender, and jokingly backed away from the other three of you. However, he did recognize your giggles, and they caused him to smile as he left.
“I’m guessing that was Buck,” you jested as your laughter died down.
Another African American woman, this one with glasses walked up to you to respond, “He’s the youngest in our squad. He’s kind of an idiot.” She offered you her hand just as Bobby had, and you shook hers as well. “I’m Henrietta,” the woman continued, “People around here just call me ‘Hen,’ though.”
“Nice to meet you, Hen,” you returned. You were still internally laughing at Buck’s, Bobby’s, and Athena’s interaction. You also approved of this woman you had just met.
For the next thirty minutes or so, you mingled with Athena and most of her firefighter friends. Buck, on the other hand, didn’t approach you again until a little later.
He tried his hand at starting a conversation. “So...where’re you coming from?”
“H/t. It’s my hometown. I like it out here in L.A., though,” you kindly answered.
Without missing a beat, Buck replied, “I like it a lot more now that you’re here.”
“Heh, very funny.” You very much were not buying anything he was selling.
Buck faked being wounded by your words. “Oh, come on. All I’m doing is being nice to the new officer in town.”
“Yeah,” you quipped, “and this officer has handcuffs and a taser.”
He responded, “Well, I don’t know about the taser, but I think we could work something out with those handcuffs--”
“Hubbup!” you interrupted with the first sound that came to mind. “...Dammit, I set myself up for that one.”
Buck was full on laughing at that point. “Yeah...You did...You really did...”
Very soon, you found yourself starting to join in with the boy’s laughter.
Then, Athena and Bobby reentered the picture.
Bobby informed you and Buck, “Okay, I think Athena and I are going to head home. Harry needs help with his homework, and May should be getting home from her school dance soon.”
Athena, glancing from Buck to you, asked, “Y/n? You need a ride home?”
“Uh...” You wanted to answer ‘no.’ You were glad when you flicked your gaze to Buck, and he seemed reluctant to the idea of you leaving as well. “I think I’m going to stay here for a while longer. I’ll just get an Uber back home.”
Both parties in the couple across from you seemed reluctant to agree with your answer. However, neither of them argued.
As Athena turned to leave, all she did was suggest, “Don’t make any stupid decisions.”
And just like that, you and Buck were left alone again. The two of you were making out in the stockroom within the hour.

"Hey, Sunny, can I ask you something I'm probably not supposed to ask?"
The question came from Natasha as the pair sit on the back patio of the house, sipping on mimosas while they wait for Hangman to return Natasha's phone call about Sunny's duffle bag. The sun is high in the sky now, beating down on their legs, their upper bodies shaded with a large umbrella. Sunny ripples a bit at Natasha's question, knowing a line is going to be crossed. That fact doesn't bother Sunny all that much, rather it's the fact that she just knows it's going to be about Bob. Since Sunny unknowingly waltzed back into his life, his world, everything has been about him. Suddenly she misses the smell of tobacco.
"Just ask me, Nash," The words come with a sigh.
"It might be more than one question," Her answer comes after a beat of silence. One that was filled with a palpable, but not uncomfortable feeling. Natasha knows both Bob and Sunny are dying to talk about everything, to talk to each other, but neither is going to make that step any time soon. Sunny goes home in two weeks,  and Natasha fears that if they don't sort things out now, they never will. So if she has to pry, goddamn-it she is going to pry.
Sunny doesn't respond, instead she just waves her hand like a white flag, conceding to Natasha's desire to talk about it.
There is a question that has been eating at Natasha since she found out that Sunny's Bobby and her Bob are the same person. The desire has all but grown since she saw Bob this morning, clad in jeans and that damn cowboy hat.
"Why Bob?" The question comes out too broad and almost wrong, and Natasha is adding on more words before Sunny can even open her mouth, "I don't mean why in his personality, I know Bob and I trust that man with my life, I mean, I want the down and dirty details. Is it the cowboy hat? It is, isn't is?"
The comment has Sunny laughing now, and she can feel the tension in her shoulders easing just a little. She lets her mind wander back to earlier that morning, to Bob, standing there like a stranger in his own kitchen. But, God, he looked just like home to her. She doesn't let her mind wander back further, knowing that if she does, she won't be able to stop thinking about Bob. From the way he smokes those stupid cigarillos and the crooked little smile of his. Hell, even his new birth control glasses make him look good.
Natasha watches quietly, a mug held tight between her hands, as a smile slowly grows over Sunny's face. She swears she can see her best friend's face literally brighten as she thinks, no doubt in Nat's mind that Sunny's mind is full of nothing but Bobby.
"You want the down and dirty? Are you sure? You do have to face him every day at work, at home, out with your friends," The words don't sway Natasha in the slightest. She knows that no matter what Sunny has to say about however hot she finds Bob, it's nothing compared to what she has heard from the rest of the squad. Natasha can describe women she has never met in painstaking detail because Rooster and Hangman like to talk over beers and pool at the Hard Deck.
"I want to know everything," Phoenix assures, a sly smirk peaking out over the coffee cup she has raised to her lips.
"Okay," There's an air of excitement to Sunny's voice and it makes Natasha buzz with excitement too. "Did I ever tell you about my prom?"
Sunny watches the blood drain from Natasha's face, an almost guilty look taking over her features. Natasha pulls her lip between her teeth, letting it go, only to suck it back in again. It's almost as if she is trying to decide what to say, but Sunny sees right through her hesitation, her biding time.
"Bobby did, didn't he?"
Natasha nods, her face falling along with her gaze. There is a bit of anxiety itching under Sunny's skin. She rubs over her exposed arms, the heat conducted from her palms doing nothing to calm the buzz in her bloodstream.
"Well, I am going to tell you the dirty stuff, okay? By the look on your face, it looks like you heard about the fight that got us here in the first place,"
"Yeah, I heard about the fight," There is guilt in her admission, even though she has nothing to be guilty about. It's not her drama, and it's nothing concerning her.
Sunny flips herself around in her chair, laying her upper body right in the direct rays of the sun. She pulls an arm behind her head, only to be poked in the arm by something hidden under the cushion. Sunny thrusts a hand under the cushion, retrieving a small box.
A fucking box of cigarillos.
And she laughs and laughs and laughs. Her head thrown back, eyes scrunched up tight. Her mouth is open wide and the loud laughter pours from her unapologetically. Natasha looks at her like she is crazy, until Sunny holds up the small box, the plastic wrap reflecting the sunlight. Natasha laughs too, but her giggles are more reserved, that is until she sees Sunny wiping tears from her eyes.
"What, is Bobby a fucking squirl now? Hiding his stash to come back to later? Keeping things safe for the cold harsh California winters?" Sunny gets the words out between gasps for air and the laughs flowing out of her lips. Natasha laughs harder now too, the women unable to look at each other as they calm down. When Sunny accidentally makes eye contact with Natasha for a brief second, it takes them another five minutes to calm down again.
"God, I miss his dumbass, I swear," There is a sadness in Sunny's tone, masked by light giggles. Carefully, Sunny peels back the cellophane wrapper on the carton of cigarillos, peeling it open like she is opening a century old book. The plastic crinkles and crunches in her hand as she balls it into her palm. She sticks the balled up cellophane under her thigh and it pokes into her soft skin. Sunny doesn't care, though, more focused on bringing the carton up to her nose to inhale the sweet, spicy scent of the tobacco.
The way Sunny relaxes at the smell is visible that Nat almost chuckles at her friend, but she doesn't. It's still too early to joke about it.
"I used to call Bob this awful nickname," Sunny watches Natasha's eyes widen over the carton of cigarillos she still has held up to her nose. "To be fair, he started calling me something awful first,"
"What did he call you?"
"He called me Douche," Nat's eyes get impossibly wider, "I went by Duchenne all of my life until I graduated high school. I get how Douche is an easy jab, I do, but my heart hurt a little every time he said it,"
"Please tell me you called him something better," There is so much anticipation in Natasha's voice that she is almost shaking. The smile that spreads over Sunny's face is almost diabolical, and Natasha can't help but love the sight.
"I called him Bertie," And that sends the pair into another laughter spiral.
"I am calling him that from this moment forward, just for hurting you! Bertie can fucking deal with it!" Conviction drips from her tone.
"No, Nash, don't call him that," Sunny shakes her head, her loose hair fluttering around as she does, "He doesn't deserve the torment,"
Natasha wants to fight Sunny on that thought. If there is anything Bob deserves after treating Sunny the way he did, ragging on her for years, throwing away their friendship only to make out with her and then fucking crush her right before graduation, it's a little torment. Natasha almost want's to beg her friend to reconsider, to let her rag on Bob a least a little bit, to give him a taste of his own medicine. But, Natasha can see the sadness in her eyes as she gently waves the carton of cigarillos under her nose.
"Give me those," Natasha makes a grabby gesture, leaning out further into the sunshine to snatch the carton from Sunny. She brings the carton up to her nose, taking in the scent. It causes her to wrinkle her nose, her features morphing into a look of disgust. She hands them back to Sunny, placing them in the woman's awaiting, outstretched hand.  "Yeah, I don't get it,"
"If you were in love with him, you would," Sunny mumbles unintentionally, her focus on the swaying of the palm trees and the sun on her face. She doesn't notice the way her best friend's whole demeanor changes, the way she sits up a little bit straighter.
"I practically jumped him on Prom. I was drunk and god, he looked so good in his suit. It was black, it had these itty bitty little pin stripes that matched the gray of his dress shirt. Truthfully I don't now how I lasted so long without kissing him that night," Her words come out a little breathy as she reminisces.
"When I kissed him, I swear that was the start and the end of me. I know that's the sappy shit they say in books, but I knew right then, even through the drunken haze, that Bobby was gonna be it for me. I was absolutely fucked when I realized it too. The kisses were messy and I swear I could feel him everywhere, like he was some sort of electricity running through me, Nash,"
"He was laying on top of me, pinning my body down with the weight of his own. His hand cradled by face and I could feel the calloses of his hands scraping against my skin. He was so, so warm on top of me. And don't even get me started on how good it felt to have his tongue down my throat, because no man will ever kiss as good as Robert Floyd,"
Natasha is gob smacked at her best friend's words, taking them in as Sunny speaks them, gesturing lightly with her hands. She still holds the carton of cigarillos, the smell embedding itself in her nose, right where she wants it. It tangles inside of her lungs and it makes her feel warm, almost like Bobby did.
"He looked so damn good this morning, Natasha," Sunny giggle like a school girl, "Just like I remember him, but so much more of a man. When did he put on all that muscle? Because, Oh my God,"
The women sit in Sunny's words, their own image of Robert Floyd swirling around in their heads. They both have smiles on their faces, not that either would admit it. Natasha is plotting a way to get them trapped in the same room, so they would have to face each other and this goddamn stupid situation head on. Sunny can't help but think of the way Bob looked in his cowboy hat, all grown up and still as sexy as ever. She wants to feel his body weight on top of her again, to feel his callused hands graze over her skin. Goosebumps erupt on Sunny's skin, even under the warmth of the sun.
"Now can I say something I probably shouldn't say?" Natasha's voice is smaller, but there is a daring part of her that makes the words come out anyway. Sunny hums, her brain still on the image of Bobby's defined thighs in his well worn jeans.
"You two need to talk, hell, if you ask me, you two need to get all of the sexual tension out of my house while you're at it," Giggles erupt, "But seriously, you really need to talk to Bob, because I have a feeling that I know exactly how he feels about you,"
Sunny pushes herself up onto her elbow, looking her best friend directly in the eye, "How do you know? Did he say something?"
The shake of Natasha's head does nothing to quell the need to know that burns within Sunny, the small smirk on Nat's face only fueling the fire.
"He didn't have to, the photo of you on his nightstand said enough,"
