seeing newer fandom drama as someone who'se not only been on tumblr since circa 2012, but was also around adults in fandoms as a child, has made me realize that the people who get upset that other's are doing deep dives because the [media] isn't/can't possible be that deep wouldn't have survived the discourse and theories around something like Lost that are still burried in forums and even magazine articles to this day. I'm not even going to touch the deep dives and analysis around homestuck at the time, or even gravity falls? this isn't new!! it's been around since fandom's existed!! and i think every fandom needs people who are unafraid to analyze [media] so deeply they're tearing at the seams of [media] until it's nothing but threads they can stitch back together themselves - they're literally the backbone of every fandom and i thank every single one of them for their service
