Noticed the ask box is open again, unsure whether intentional or not but I'M TAKING ADVANTAGE! Adding more MMJ stream headcanons

So they do karaoke and singing streams with their friends often, and one common part of it is singing show tunes, and stuff from musicals. Ichisaki and Mizurui duet Two player game from BMC, Rui slays a rendition of confrontation from Jekyll and Hyde, Nene aces defying gravity, Akito is convinced into singing Room where it happens with Tsukasa as Hamilton, Jefferson as Nene, and Rui as Madison, with everyone else comprising the chorus. Mafuyu does You will be found, and finally the entire cast will often do a big closing number (not necessarily a closing number) with songs like Inevitable from TGWDLM, or Best Day Ever from the SpongeBob musical.

Sorry if it's hard to read, but I have so many thoughts about these autistic individuals and what songs perfectly fit them and their dynamics, I've still got a bunch

HOWDY MEREMINERS!!!! As my personal bmc renaissance has swept thru my brain like the tornado that took Dorothy to Oz, it has also like Dorothy picked me up and plopped me deep into M(eremine)unchkinland (I’m both Kansas and Dorothy in this metaphor, keep up!). Whenever I get rlyrlyrlyrly obsessed with smth, I tend to want to theme all aspects of my life around, to varying (silly) degrees. This includes me looking for/creating hyperspecific playlists yes yes ur on tumblr u know how fandom works. What I’m trying to say is that I looked on Spotify for meremine playlists and shock! Horror! Scream! Nothing. It was an empty void, no silly lil musical polycules in sight. My heart was broken. My dreams were dashed. But then I realized. I have a Spotify account. I have music taste. I have a brain that draws elaborate and often nonsensical parallels!! I can make a meremine playlist!!! So I did. And that’s what this is. Wahoo!

I was gonna do a whole bullet point break-down of why I chose each song but as I was typing it out it kept sounding more and more red-yarn corkboard and every so slightly Completely Unhinged so uh. Scrapped that!! But I do wanna say that the very first song (karaoke by smallpools) is a reference for the GOAT, the myth, the legend, my favorite meremine fic as well as my favorite bmc fic ever !! OF ALL TIME !! we’ll pass the mic around by @some-silver-reply !! Such an incredible characterization of all three of them I think about it all the time I love it so much but don’t wanna spoil anything so if u care about meremine at all read it I BEG (it does have explicit sex in it tho so keep that in mind if that makes u feel some type of way)!!! This fic has sustained me thru many a meremine-brain-wormed sleepless night and this playlist would have died in the dark cavities of my mindscape without it <3. Probably after diving into the bmc fics on ao3 and reading my first pinkberry fic. It was a side ship in some other fic that i forgot

• my thoughts:

I LOVE THEM!!!! Like i get that their relationship is kinda toxic with how chloe treats brooke and kinda pulls her around and doesn’t act like she cares but she cares so much she just doesn’t show it cuz it’s weird and things are extra weird between them after the squip incident because chloe doesn’t know how to express her feelings and brooke just knows and is waiting for chloe to sort her feelings out. Brooke being salty watching chloe going through different relationships through high school too like the pining is so real!!! And like the whole they’ve liked boys before and the i was jealous of you thing like dhvdhgshabjajajak and brooke feels like she’s just a follower to chloe and she’s just desperate to be seen by chloe(pov me after listening to the archer on repeat) and chloe is just trying to slow down on relationships after jake because she’s so scared that she’ll make the same mistake again and chase away the people she loves the most again because she’s bad with feelings and has these mood swings were she blames herself for everything but then is confident as hell she’s just so complex and brooke’s the only one who sees her as something more than the popular girl and things are simple with brooke like hrggg they make me sick/pos

I feel like the angst potentials of brooke pining for chloe for so long that she eventually falls out of it and doesn’t see chloe the same way when chloe loves her back is something that stabs me to the core

There aren’t barely enough pinkberry fics!!! I want to read more of them!! And in general just them in different au scenarios

• things I look for in fanfic:

Fluff, toxic yuri(if possible), hurt/comfort(i can’t get enough of brooke comforting chloe after her breakup with jake tbh), girl rage(brooke hating jake for a while because of him hurting chloe is real), pining(mutual or one sided is fine), deep talk(about the squip incident their relationship or exes and whatever i just want to see them be vulnerable and emotional to each other)

• Who l'd be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

Puppy love and chlostine are fine by me(puppy love is usually for the brooke falls out of love when chloe falls in love scenarios but either way i think it’s cute)

• My happily ever after for them:

They live in a cottage or small house kind of thing near the beach and they own a flower shop together <3 and they get a dog for reasons

• what is their favorite non-sexual activity:

Putting makeup on each other and listening to music(eventually singing their hearts out like they’re in a karaoke bar but they’re in the other’s house, preferably empty and maybe a bit drunk)

Anon I’ve been hoping for this ask ever since I started seeing it go around, so I’m so excited, thank you.

I can’t choose one favorite, so I’m gonna share multiple and say what I like about them, with the rants as asked below the cut :)

Two Player Game: This song is really special to me for multiple reasons, the main one being it’s the first song from the musical I ever listened to. I heard this song by chance at a summer camp years ago (2016 or 2017) and then I tried to find it again and failed. Then, again, by chance, it autoplayed on my YouTube while I was listening to music doing homework in April of 2018, and I recognized it and listened to it until I knew the song. This is also my favorite for singing with other people and it’s so fun to sing along to.

A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into: I’ve always been really attached to this song because it’s just so sweet and fun, I love it a lot. I love Christine and Jeremy’s chemistry- both platonic and romantic- and this song displays it so well, because already you can see Christine trusts Jeremy, enough that she’s telling him all about this. She likes him a lot, she likes being around him, and it’s so special. Also, this one is really satisfying to do karaoke of because I learned the timing for an audition, so I sing along to it a lot. Also also, Christine is just like me for real and she’s one of my dream roles, and I personally like this song more than ILPR.

Loser Geek Whatever: THIS SONG IS FUCKING EVERYTHING!!!!! Like the previous two there’s already the sing along value of it. But there’s also a point where I remember listening to this song for the first time. I remember downloading the single to my phone before the Broadway album was released. And man, this song Hit so right for me. Jeremy, in my opinion, definitely benefited this song. This is a big decision for him, going from Jeremy 1.0 to 2.0. It’s a big decision moving on from Michael. And Loser Geek Whatever is such a perfect song for that decision. We know everything going through Jeremy’s head, and it helps us, as the audience, to be more understanding of Jeremy’s choice to continue blocking out Michael. (If he even REALLY had a choice, but that’s getting off track.)

Halloween: I literally just think this song is fun. Specifically the Broadway version of the song, it gets me so pumped up every time I listen to it. I love the energy going into it, and it’s definitely up there for that reason. Plus, you gotta appreciate the choreo the actors learn in the stage version, it’s truly iconic.

Michael in the Bathroom: Full disclosure, Michael has always been my favorite character. It flips now between Michael and Christine, but even then, he’s up there. As I stated with Loser Geek Whatever, this song really benefits Michael as a character, because from what we as the audience have seen, it’s really out of character for him. Throughout the entire musical to this point, Michael is mostly a pretty upbeat and chill guy. We get times where he’s more anxious or insecure (“would you be too cool for… video games?”) and there’s other times where he’s kinda pissed off (“really? so you’re not the one who’s been avoiding me?”), but both of those examples are both quickly followed by his more chill attitude, and both feel different than this situation. Michael is angry in the bathroom scene, and then as soon as Jeremy leaves, he’s sad, and he’s trapped, and he’s scared. This is Michael’s darkest moment in the show (like a lot of characters tbh- Halloween was not a good time), and the fact that we as the audience get to see it? It’s really good for Michael’s character arc. Not to mention the song itself is SO FUN TO SING. This is a song where if I’m driving and I get distracted from singing along, I’ll start the song over so I can sing to all of it.

The Play: OOOOOOOUGH I LOVE THE CHAOS IN THIS ONE!!!! Seeing it on stage through bootlegs is so wonderful, I love how this song is staged, and it being the climax of the show. It s everything. But you don’t need the stage version for this song to be chaotic. I listen mostly to the Broadway version of bmc, and wow. They weren’t fucking around with this one. Jeremy gets to interact with nearly every cast member in this song, and every interaction is wild. In the Broadway version, we actually get to hear Jeremy and Michael’s fight, which in itself is everything to me. There’s the interaction with Chloe and Brooke (which is unsettling at best). There’s Christine!!! THERE’S “THAT’S NOT CHRISTINE AND I’M STRONGER THAN YOU THINK I AM” and then there’s screaming. So much screaming. The screaming in Two River is funnier in my opinion, it’s fucking hilarious, but the screaming is so good regardless, and the the SQUIP dying?????? Chefs kiss. I love the play.
