okay let's go episode 2:
wolf somehow doesn't know what pokemon or game of thrones is (i know his pop culture knowledge is near nonexistent, but even i've at least heard of both franchises, despite never engaging in them)
there's little references to the hospital being understaffed (like dr. landon apparently performed a surgery herself) and underfunded, but i feel like the show's been mostly glossing over it (unless it's just something that's easy to miss, given that it's yet to play a major role in an episode plot)
wolf lowkey has a bratty side, given how he talks to his mom this episode
wolf ignoring nichols got me giggling and kicking my feet
wolf also can't do sports analogies to save his life. now is that bc he's gay or a nerd? /j
wolf's lil striped sweater is so cute. if i could make a gifset dedicated to that look, i would.
"oliver, try not to get too attached. we both know it hasn't served you well in the past." hmm (i know they tie this line to him empathizing with a frog in hs, but i feel like it might also refer to a patient he treated in the past)
the way they depict jessie's feelings of disembodiment are incredibly well done. the one shot in particular of her simultaneously falling and rising is really cool. (this show in general makes some cool, unique directing choices. i know i talk about emmys deserved for the acting, but this show deserves some love for its directing too.)
wolf also doesn't understand dana's sixth sense reference
"dr. wolf is the chief's son?" i love you, token himbo van (he is so golden retriever-coded)
"you keep blowing past me... on three separate occasions." "why are you counting?" lmaooooooo get him, wolf
(something something nichols fell first but wolf fell harder)
never realized how prominent the height difference is between them when they're standing in front of jessie's brain scans (i can't believe nichols makes 6'1 wolf look tiny)
it's implied that wolf didn't really need nichols to look at the scans with him. he said he wanted a second opinion, but also admitted he was scared for jessie. could he have wanted nichols there for... emotional support?
someone made a post the other day about what ericka's neuro/psycho issue might be. idk if it counts, but i wanna say she might suffer from some sort of issues with perfectionism? or maybe people-pleasing? given how she said she spent all her time in college studying and working rather than partying and socializing (but that's also pretty typical for those of us more studious folks, i say as someone who went to community college and therefore did nearly nothing in terms of social things on campus...)
actually maybe i was wrong about the underfunding thing being irrelevant, since it comes up for jessie, who may have had to be sent to a long-term care facility so, as wolf says, the hospital can "free up a bed" (and i know a similar thing was said about roman once, i forget in what episode - 4, maybe 5? before he showed any real signs of awareness)
the "freakishly large hands" exchange is so incredibly flirty, i can't take it. i dare say the wolfnichols dynamic did a complete 180 from the pilot to episode 2. like the pilot gives enemies to lovers, but episode 2 (and beyond) just gives... lovers. (or like flirty coworkers who both slowly (given how much time it takes for them to act) and quickly (in terms of episode count) develop a bond and fall hard for each other.)
underrated parts of the scene: wolf's little smirk when he jokingly addresses nichols without looking at him, and nichols wringing his hands when asking what his defining feature is (like he's a nervous little boy talking to his crush)
did i rewind and rewatch that scene 3 times in a row? yes, yes i did
the end scene with muriel & carol really makes it seem like wolf did some fucked up things in his past, which, as i discussed with someone the other day, i once thought meant he was responsible for his dad's death, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. at least, he's not directly responsible, though he probably still harbors some guilt about the whole situation. still, wonder when the implications of that scene come back into play. (could that be one of the "surprises" showrunner grassi referred to when he talked about what was in store for wolf & nichols?)

That ask about modern day Cybertronians knowing about their planet's history made me think about how Beast Wars handled it, with some characters being protoforms who retained some of their memories, others being protoforms who didn't have any of their memories left, and Cybertronians who joined in for the ride. Likewise, you did have characters from G1 walking around, like Ravage, but a lot of "lost history" or history hidden from many of the modern day characters, like Cheetor and Nightscream in Beast Machines. Which brings up some troubling ideas about what the kids in the modern day of Beast Wars/Machines are learning in school.
Beast wars is an interesting case and I feel like we need more post war situations like it where it's been a Decent While after the war
I am very very curious as to what school was like in Beast Wars, especially with the massive divide between Maximals and Predacons
Hhhgh it's gotta be so interesting (for us)

the difficulty is when you're in the flashback arc you're like 'this is so rough can we get to postres already' but the postres arc is both really sad and also just not as good. 43, 46, and some parts of the finale are the best parts and the rest of it is kind of eh

I kinda don't understand why there was even a Wild Card in the first place.
Tumblr media
In Kunigami's words, Wild Card was some kind of experiment to create a player with physical stats and/or abilities which are par with Noa's. It's, basically, making a copy of Noa, but.. why? There's was no need of it when Blue Lock already had this dude:
Tumblr media
Are you getting me?
Alright, alright, I understand that a holographic robot would be much different than a human being, but it's not like Kunigami acts completely like Noa either—the orange head is way too aggressive.
Before anyone says, "Oh! It's the built-up frustration 'cause of the Wild Card!" let me remind you that Kunigami was aggressive way before that too—rewatch the first selection's matches, you'll understand what I'm tryna say. Though I won't deny that Wild Card definitely had, at least, some kind of contribution.
I mean, we all know how calm and nearly emotionless Noa behaves. Yes, yes, there are instances where this Master Striker has shown agitation:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dim and Dimmer, LOL!
But despite that, Noa still looks very calm, y'know, unlike Kunigami who has shown visible irritation throughout NEL, and we have never seen Ego calling out on it too. So, does this mean that one's behaviour doesn't matter as long as they have the same physical stats as the world's (current) best striker? Then shouldn't Ego have invested more on Blue Locker's physical attributes to make them tough and strong and ambidextrous like Noa? Hm?
Also, Ego once said this:
Tumblr media
Kunigami being some kind of obstacle or benchmark for the other Blue Lock-ers to overcome to improve themselves sounds a lot reasonable, but isn't it unfair? I mean, except BM, every other team—FC Barcha, Manshine City, Ubers, and PxG—only played with (against) Kunigami ONLY once meanwhile BM got to play with him in four matches!
Are you getting me?
Well, the main reason for this post was actually this panel:
Tumblr media
Everybody knew that Kunigami was going to have some kind of rage against Shidou in the match, but the sheer intensity with which the ginger actually went against the blond caught me off guard. And it made me wonder why exactly Kunigami is mad at Shidou—is it simply because he got kicked out of Blue Lock because of him? Is it because he lost the match to him? Or is it because he think he (Shidou) is the reason why he (Kunigami) lost his ego?
Personally, I don't have any confident answer to any of my own questions, but I'm pretty confident that this (maybe one sided?) rivalry will make a lot of sense after Shidou's backstory is revealed—just like Kaiser's behaviour towards Isagi started to make sense after his backstory was revealed—because I really don't buy that Shidou thought Kunigami wasn't a good enough player when someone like Barou gave some kind of indirect acknowledgement to Kuni:
Tumblr media
Considering this Ubers' King's behaviour, being 'wanted' by him is a pretty big praise.
What do you guys think?

onto episode 3:
so, if wolf misremembered the greenhouse thing, how can we be sure any of the memories we see via flashback are accurate? (i know that's not revealed till the end of the episode, but i just remembered it as the episode started)
muriel giving oliver advice on how to water the resurrection fern is our primary clue that his greenhouse memory is inaccurate (she also makes a little face when oliver refers to what he did, taking the plant into the shower with him (so it could receive water via mist), as "dad's tip", even though it's essentially what she'd just advised him to do (mist the plant))
am i better than the interns bc i know both who taylor swift and the three stooges are? (not that i ever really watched the three stooges, but i at least know of them and their names)
if van suffers from mirror-touch synesthesia, why did he experience a phantom seizure when emily had her real one? maybe i just misunderstand what that condition entails. i figured it was just when he touched someone that he'd feel what they do.
(nevermind, it's explained when wolf diagnoses him that it's not just through touch, but talking to - and, in that case, i guess being around - other people, where he'll feel what they feel. kinda explains the opening of the episode, where he walks in with headphones on to block out all the chaos and conflict of the people on the floor, so he wouldn't feel what they do.)
speaking of, this ties into something i noticed in the last two episodes but didn't comment on - i feel like jacob and van are very much opposites. not just in the fact that jacob's like this cocky jock type while van is more soft and sensitive. van has a lot of empathy for people, probably due to his synesthesia, while jacob kinda... doesn't. not that he has 0 empathy, he just doesn't seem to put himself in the patients' shoes all that easily, unlike van, who i guess does it a little too well. i'm not pointing this out to say one character is better than the other, but it might play into the love triangle with ericka. (also, kinda makes me wonder why jacob got into medicine at all. i know it's bc his football career ended, but why not go into another field? business? marketing? something where his occasional overconfidence would better benefit him?)
"not all memories are worth revisiting." hmm, guessing this is a reference to some messy things that happened with papa wolf? like maybe memories of him on his bad days? or how he died to begin with (assuming it wasn't actually on that camping trip)?
also laughed out loud at the campy little workout mix/"dustin from abs class" scene. god, do i live for wolfnichols shenanigans. they're so sillyyyyyy. my silly little doctor boys (who are actually old(er) men)
i think the first time i watched this episode, i figured noah (papa wolf) was lying on the couch due to a physical ailment. like he was genuinely sick from something, practically bedridden. but the show keeps implying his issues were psycho- or, probably, neurological, so was it more like a depressive episode? which was part of a bigger problem? i wanna know what was wrong with him so bad, i can't figure it out!
and also, again, if oliver shut that bad memory of his dad out, who can say what else he shut out, altered, or repressed in regards to his dad's struggles? like i said, did his dad actually die (or just disappear) on that camping trip? or did he die some other time, some other way, that oliver was aware of or bared witness to, but he blocked it from his memory bc it was too traumatic? does he have any actual responsibility for how his dad died?

haven't been watching I'm a angst person and character pain is the one thing that interests me but THIS!?! it's just a painful ark and I honestly don't like it.
I'll just stick to aus I like hearing of or my own where I make some characters have a better life then whatever this arc is doing.
Tumblr media
OKAY SO. FIRST I NEED TO SPECIFY THAT THE SECOND ASK, THE ANON, WAS SENT BEFORE TODAY'S EPISODES. THAT WAS SENT ON 6/11/13, AND I PLANNED ON ANSWERING IT AFTER TODAY'S EPISODES TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WERE RIGHT ABOUT THE 'BAD OUTCOME' THING. AND LO AND FUCKING BEHOLD SKDJFHSDFDF
Harper, you are so in the right for just sticking to your au's cause, until canon gets back to a place where I enjoy watching lore videos again, I think I'm gonna do the same.
I love angst. I can't say it enough- I love angst.
...When it's well written, and ends in a way where the characters heal together, or at least grow together.
I don't think I can put into words how OOC I believe almost everyone, but especially Moon, was acting today, and have been acting for the past month or so. I think if the Moon from last December saw this Moon, he'd slap him across the face.
Anon was right, this entire arc was just senseless drama, with no proper exploration into the spiral that can come from extreme grief. Which is genuinely shocking, because the show has attempted those subjects before! Sun spiraling over losing Old Moon? One of my favorite arcs! But for here? We had enough drama with Eclipse being back and Solar dying, but now we've lost Moon and officially lost Bloodmoon, too??!?!?
Oh gee, sorry, didn't realize I was watching the "Sun and Friends Show!" :/
I don't have much to say that won't dissolve into senseless angry yelling (your First ask was much of that from me already lol), but I can list?? The few things I liked from this arc???:
Puppet. I'm somewhat conflicted over them intervening when their whole thing is that they don't want to intervene, but them going off on Monty like that, and crushing Bm like a bug was satisfying as hell to see. You go girl, slay.
Ruin. I think he was really the only one remaining in character. Him still being nice to Earth despite it all was sweet, and him trying to reason with Moon was cool.
Sun. He is gonna be fucking heartbroken once he hears the news, and I hope he can get the real Moon back as soon as possible for the sake of his health. And hopefully Dazzle can hold off on telling him ""their secret"" for a while longer ;w;
And, my #1, Eclipse. His slow but steady redemption is the only thing keeping me going rn. If no one else got me, Eclipse got me.
Now. I'm gonna go rewatch yesterdays vibby game episodes and take a chill pill KJDFHSDF

Something important I realised upon rewatching the ultimatum for Eclipse episode..
When Moon told Sun to let from his chest whatever he wants to say to Eclipse, Sun said that he'd like to see him dead right now..
Notice the way he emphasised the word "dead". He shouts it out unlike the rest of the sentence. Even if many probably thought that the emphasis means that Sun really wants Eclipse gone, I think that it might not be true..
Because idk if any of you realised that but Sun was unable to look at neither Moon nor Eclipse longer than for a few seconds most of the conversation.
While it's understandable that Sun was anxious and nervous from Moon's anger and threats, looking at this scene from broader perspective rises few questions.
Like for example we know that Sun isn't afraid of Eclipse himself anymore. He was able to stand up to him twice before his death back in summer last year. And he simply turned off (destroyed) the device Eclipse was speaking through in Beta 10. He also pointed out how Eclipse isn't a threat because even when he had unlimited power in his hands (star) he didn't do anything with it.
Sun showed us many times how he is mostly unphased by Eclipse's shennaginans at this point. Which is understandable.. because Eclipse didn't carry out most of his threats. It's all bark no bite.
So the question is.. why Sun seems so nervous all of a sudden? What he's scared of? The most obvious thing is Moon's anger. Sun is scared of Moon's anger and how quickly he jumps to violence.
Getting back to what Sun said. I think that the emphasis on word "death" seemed forced as if Sun didn't want for anyone to question if he's truthful or not. And adding on top of this that Sun was looking away most of the time but only at this moment he was looking at Eclipse indicates that Sun was indeed lying that he wants Eclipse to be dead. At least it looks like that to me..
And now we can ask another question. Why Sun was so nervous about them deciding to what to do with Eclipse? We know that Sun is tired of all of this repeating over and over again. Them having to deal with Eclipse time and time again. But wouldn't he be more annoyed than nervous/scared if he was just tired of all of this? That's why I think that Sun was nervous because he doesn't want for them to kill Eclipse but he's too scared to oppose Moon to his face..
I'm almost 100% sure that he'll go behind Moon's back and try to help/reach out to Eclipse somehow..
Although some of you may think that Sun is a good liar and that's true but from viewer perspective we could see that Sun can't lie to Moon. He can lie if he wants and he can lie at whim.. but whenever he was lying to Moon he was always nervous and he was giving more obvious signs that he isn't truthful e.g. when he killed BM and when he was hiding that he was training star's power..
The truth is that Moon either is unable to see Sun's obvious lying or he just simply ignores it.. I think that both things are true.. Because 1) Moon doesn't suspect Sun to lie, obviously and 2) Moon always ignored the issue till it blew right in his face - it was more with Old Moon.. maybe Moon still is like that or maybe due to his paranoia even if he sees those signs he doesn't address any of them immediately simply because he has prepared plans in case of x, y, z situation..
I mean that Moon might suspect that Sun is lying to him and that he might act behind his back so he'll just wait for the right time i.e. when Sun will break his trust to act according to his prepared in advance plan e.g. locking Sun on the island..
Or that's what I think may happen if it'll turn out that I'm right.
The way Moon reassures Sun every step of the way that he trust him, that he got his back, that he wants to improve himself screams to me of paranoia..
You may think that I'm weird because Moon is simply trying to be better.. while it's true.. don't you find it odd.. because for me it looks similar to the scenario in which someone repeats often that they love you as if they were scared that you don't reciprocate the same feelings..
I don't know how to explain it better.. cause well paranoia often makes you question things that you were 100% sure of..
I hope that it makes sense though.. but it's really hard to explain the way that someone who is paranoid may think..
Tl;dr Sun is lying about wanting Eclipse to be dead and he may act behind Moon's back and Moon is paranoid and probably is suspecting that Sun might do something on his own so he'll lock him on the island in case Sun will break his trust
