Admittedly, Kelby is one of my favs, second to Cole of course, and I enjoyed writing for both Kelby and Anon. Hope they aren’t too cheesy :)

Kelby doesn’t know how to actually flirt, like a normal person anyway.

Even then, half of his sport themed pick up lines don’t even make sense, that’s not even mentioning your own obliviousness

Speaking of which, when people find out you’re not a couple(yet) they’re baffled. You and Kelby just have this relationship where it’s easy to be intimate and affectionate with one another.

Of course, it adds a whole other level to absurdness to just how oblivious you are to Kelby’s affections and knockoff one liners.

There’s something sweet though about how he always shows his affections through his weird athlete metaphors and always offering to do any kind of activity with you. He’s your #1 fun buddy!

He does try to flirt in a more traditional sense every now and then, only to feel discouraged and awkward when you STILL don’t get it. He’s slowly starting to think his flirting skills aren’t the problem.

Funny enough, you DO understand some of his flirting, well half of the time anyways. But at the same time, they also don’t do you never question his sports talk and never even consider that he is actually trying to flirt.

You two eventually figure it out, through awkward tension and confusing explanations, but it’s happens sooner or later.

Anon, surprisingly, is a decent flirt. Too bad you’re too dense to notice any of his smooth flirting or advances

(Granted, everything that comes out of his mouth sounds a bit cheeky, just another factor playing into your own obliviousness)

He’s tried everything in the book and even some of his own original ideas, but you didn’t bat an eye to small encoded hearts that would show up on your computer and phone OR when you’d get random love letters in your inbox

In your defense, you don’t even check your email half of the time and when you do, you just skim everything in search of something else

The hearts on the other hand came off as more as a kind gesture on Anon’s part, he was your best friend, him tinkering and adding small features with your phone wasn’t anything new.

Anon could feel frustration build up more and more by the day, all of your coffee dates and trips to the amusement park seemed to mean nothing more than simple outings with a close friend. Even after he’d won you a lovely cat plush hugging a heart didn’t even make you consider the possibility that he liked you.

Of course, actually confessing his feelings and having an honest, face-to-face conversation with you was always an option, but Anon feels like his heart would explode from anxiety and suspense alone.

He’d figure out a way to confess, sooner or later, but darn if he’d do his best to not out-right say it. Too bad for him, since you’ve been crushing on him for awhile too. Oh well,,

The two of you were currently lounging on the couch, binging whatever series Volks nagged you into watching.

“Hey um.. Y/N??” He mumbled, his voice interrupting the comfortable silence.

“Yeah?” you glanced over to the man next to you, he looked nervous; brows knitted together, hands grabbing at the blanket covering you both.

He gulped, hesitant to ask, “Can you uh.. You know.. Do the.. Thing??” Smiling, you looked at him, though he was completely avoiding your gaze; seemingly afraid to confront whatever possible judgement you had for him.

You knew exactly what he wanted, however you being the caring partner you are, wanted to calm him down. So, you do what you’re the best at, annoying Volks! “Babe, if you want affection you have to be more specific. What thing, love?”

Volks proceeds to plop his head in your lap and places your hand on his head, clearly annoyed with your antics.

“Please, don’t make this any more embarrassing than it has to be for me..” He grumbles. God, do you always have to make things so difficult?! This was the first time he was this close to anybody, surely you’d cut him some slack. Right? His cheeks burned crimson, as if him laying on your lap wasn’t embarrassing enough for him; he cursed himself for not being able to control the blush that continued to spread down his neck.

You chuckle, looking down at the pouting boy below you. “How cute” you thought. Deciding you’ve teased him enough, you begin to rake your fingers through his locks, gently caressing his ears. Wow, they’re soft. Volks clearly was enjoying this, as he proceeded to nuzzle into your lap. Holy shit?? Did that just happen? He never been this vulnerable before!

Before you could continue mentally screaming, Volks yawned and looked up at you. Geez, why did he have to be so pretty? His silky hair, amber eyes, toned body, plush lips, no wonder why he’s a model...

“Hey, uh, why’d you stop?” He questioned, snapping you out of your daze. “Oh!! Um, sorry! You’re just really beautiful!” you replied without much thought. Maybe you should have put more thought into your response, as he sputtered and somehow blushed even more. “Your honesty is going to be the death of me...” he muttered. “Well maybe you shouldn’t be so handsome all the time!!” you quipped, resulting in a pillow being shoved in your face.

So I’m not entirely certain of what the state of non-Federation Standard languages are in Star Trek (and I know there are several episodes of Voyager that totally dispel my little scenario here but, listen, I still like this idea so bear with me) but I just think it would have been really cool if, during Voyager’s journey home the Universal Translator broke for an episode and suddenly everyone on board can’t understand each other because, as it would turn out, no one except maybe Janeway and Tom is fluent in Federation Standard. Like:

- B’Elanna speaks a combination of Spanish and Klingon and there is absolutely no rhyme or reason behind when she speaks which (that anyone else can tell, at least. She does have a pattern of when she uses certain words - usually based on whichever language she feels describes what she is explaining more accurately). Sometimes she switches mid-thought. Ayala speaks only in Spanish so the two of them buddy up during this episode and actually become stronger friends after this.

- Tuvok, obviously, speaks Vulcan. He didn’t think learning Standard was logical since the Universal Translators existed and he would rather spend his time learning more immediately useful skills. He and Vorik also speak slightly different dialects so conversations between them are a little slow since they have to untangle local metaphors and slight differences in their vocabulary. 

- Tom speaks Standard, but he picked up French in his time at the academy and actually preferred that so he has been speaking French the whole time. He can speak Standard but, quite honestly, his Standard has gotten just a little rusty and he keeps accidentally slipping back into French. He swears in English though.

- Chakotay is speaking his tribe’s language. He does speak enough Standard to get by, but it’s been a while so he’s out of practice. He also speaks a little Spanish, so he can somewhat converse with B’Elanna and Ayala. 

- Neelix, obviously, speaks Talaxian. 

- Janeway speaks Standard, but she swears in Irish Gaelic. She also understands a little Klingon (not enough to really keep up with B’Elanna), some Vulcan (again, not really enough to keep up with Tuvok) and, like, one semester’s worth of Modern Bajoran (not very helpful since there are so few Bajorans on board). She’s not having a good day and feels somewhat guilty about how heavily she has been relying on the UT over the years instead of studying her colleagues’ languages.

- Harry speaks Korean and a bit of Standard. The good news is that Tom and Harry know each other so well that they really don’t need to talk, they just kinda gesture at each other and know what’s going on. 

- Seven understands everyone perfectly because of her assimilated knowledge, except for Neelix. Turns out, he actually speaks some backwater dialect of Talaxian and the Borg did not assimilate anyone from his region so she’s only getting about half of what he says. Anyway, Seven ends up having to act as a translator during senior officer’s meetings, but she keeps shortening what people say and removing metaphors for the sake of efficiency and a lot of the meaning is lost in translation. This becomes a lesson for her in the art of poetry or something.

- It turns out the Doctor’s entire language matrix was built into the Universal Translator, so he is unable to speak or understand anything he says. B’Elanna ends up having to type coded signals to send into his matrix in order to communicate with him in any meaningful way. However, halfway through the episode, he discovers a Federation Standard Sign Language subroutine in his coding so he is able to sign with Seven (Sign Language can be interpreted by the UT, but the knowledge of how to actually sign was programmed into the Doctor himself since it is a non-verbal form of communication). The others end up picking up some of his signing as well and it becomes a really good way for everyone to communicate with each other quickly when Seven isn’t around.

- In the end, they fix the UT and everyone breathes a sigh of relief. Tom asks B’Elanna to teach him Klingon and Spanish and she says she will if he teaches her French. B’Elanna ends up making fun of how little sense French makes. Tom actually loves Klingon, but he’s bad at Spanish (even though it’s closer to French than Klingon is. Don’t try to figure Tom Paris out.) Janeway also asks to learn some of Chakotay’s language and he teaches her. They end up speaking in his language a lot after they get back to the Alpha Quadrant and spend time together away from technology and Starfleet. Neelix quickly becomes a fluent signer and pretty much constantly signs while he is also speaking.

“jisung, truth or dare?” mark’s slightly slurred voice turns everyone’s attention towards the youngest boy as he scoffs at the sudden attention.

his hand brushes through his brown locks before answering quite smugly, “dare.”

“i dare you to kiss the prettiest girl in the room.”

this swipes the smugness on jisung’s face clean off. his eyes almost immediately connects with yours. you see the nervousness in them as he clears his throat, slowly shifting closer towards where you’re seated.

“just tell me if this is okay.” his soft whisper reaches your ears as he timidly reaches to cup your cheek in his hand.

you smile, momentarily forgetting about the rest of your friends sitting around you, “it’s perfectly fine.”

this causes jisung’s lips to curl up into a slight smirk. softly, his lips press onto yours. your world spins even more as his thumb moves to brush against your skin.

“dude, look at his ears!”

mark giggles and it breaks you both apart, jisung can’t seem to meet your eyes as he shifts back to his seat.
