That's really strange. I somehow missed this post yesterday. I don't know if that was from issue on my dash or if I just missed it while scrolling late last night. There have been times where my dash doesn't load or stops loading before I get to where I left off, but I haven't noticed anything lately. No surprise that the staff haven't been too helpful sadly.

​It's likely you missed it because of this, and specifically this started happening with the update of Jun 19th, everything was fine before that. But even trying to install a previous version of the app doesn't help, which I kinda expected it since it's also happening in desktop, but was worth the try :'D

Now both @staff and @support simply stopped answering, or idk, the only thing I hope this is just some sort of mistake they are trying to fix and not something they actually meant to do.

Day 1: Lights, Camera, Action... Duel!

Hi there. I’m BlueEyesWhiteGarden and I love Arc V. I’ve been a fan of the YGO franchise ever since the DM dub back in the days of Kids’ WB, but Arc V is by far my favorite series in the franchise. I can still remember watching the first episode for the first time and I was hooked immediately. I quickly fell in love with so many of its characters, was invested in the ongoing mysteries and storylines and really liked the then new Action Duels and Pendulum cards. No other series in the franchise before or since made me so invested from start to finish. The series clicks so well for me.

I made a lot of friends through watching the series, which makes it extra special for me as well. Watching new episodes every Sunday and getting to see the story unfold was so much fun. Even now, I’m in the middle of another Arc V rewatch and I’m still so excited to see each episode. It’s fun revisiting the series, remembering how I felt about these episodes watching them the first time around and seeing that I still enjoy them.

I’m not sure how many of the prompts I’ll be able to do, but I want to do at least as much as I can since I love talking about Arc V and celebrating it during this month sounded like too much fun to pass up. Thank you @arcvmonth for setting up this event!

A whole lot of drama could have been avoided if Caleb just dragged Philip with him to the Demon Realm. Of course the little guy would be less than thrilled about living among demons, but it’s preferable to the alternative (and he doesn’t have to live with and become a crazy witch hunter)

This is actually based on a scene in one of the old W.i.t.c.h. comics when Cornelia decided to revive her boyfriend Caleb (hah!) and she had this completely deranged look on her face. It just fit to well. I had to replace the flower she was holding with something though...so a piece of Palistromwood it is (which looks kinda dorky)

My #1 post of 2022

Lots of people make fun of Jonathan Harker for not recognizing what's up with Dracula, despite the warning signs...And I feel the need to point out that Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" had Silas, a character who:

• does not cast a reflection

• only eats one kind of ( unspecified) food

• is very pale, has razor sharp nails, makes people feel insecure/ troubled for no apparent reason

• sleeps through the day and only comes out after sunset

• is neither dead nor alive

• sleeps inside a trunk filled with earth

• crawls down walls head first

• can fly and is compared to a bat when doing so

• has some form of mind control powers

• is bothered/ weakened by sunlight in some form

And people to this day question what kind of being this man could possibly be. I somehow doubt you all would have done any better than Jonathan. Modern readers seem to be just as, if not more more oblivious than him if a story does not explicitly spell out that it's featuring a vampire.

My #1 post of 2022

I'm waiting for the chapter™️ of SpyxFamily where Anya gets recaptured by the scientist who terrorized her originally and "Twilight" is ordered to let her go, but Loid is going to save his daughter one way or another, esper or not.

Then Thorn Princess is ordered to stop a rogue agent named "Twilight" who is trying to get in the way of some very important scientific research and its here that Loid reveals who he is in an earnest attempt to save Anya. Yor hesitates at first but still does her job, as ordered. Then he says the magic words of, "It's Anya. Their experiment is Anya. They took her, Yor. Theyre going to do... god knows what."

Yor knows Loid. She knows this is his honest side and she becomes furious.

Its easier then to work. They dont have to hide anymore from each other.

At the end, there is one lone door. They push it open to find Anya hooked up to all sorts of weird devices and the scientist orders them to stand back. He then has a menical rant about how her powers are going to be the reason the West is destroyed and yadda yadda yadda. Anya is crying. She is clearly terrified because she knows what this man is going to do to her because shes been here before and she doesnt want it.

So she weakly cries out, "Papa, Mama" and that man is DEAD. Gone in a second.

They free her and have a moment where Anya finally admits to whole fiasco- she knew about their roles, she is an esper, but she wasnt lying when she said she was happy and that she wanted to see them happy as well.

After a few moments, Loid hugs her tight. They are happy because they are a family. They may not be blood, and it may have started for a mission, but this was real now. They were staying together. Loid picks her up and Yor goes ahead to clear out any additional security that may be there.

Loid is aware that they cant escape-escape, because of how important keeping the two countries out of war is, but he definitely promises to retire as a spy when its over. Yor promises the same thing.

Theyre the best spy unit to ever exist and the first to declare neutrality. They work as a whole family to keep the nations safe. Ultimately, they do retire but still get caught up because of Anyas powers.

hi i was thinking about how i like komanami again and i feel like i’ve never seen anyone mention the Drama, the Tragedy, the Romance of komaeda essentially committing suicide to save the traitor from himself and the others whom he believed were irredeemable Despairs, and without his knowledge, the traitor was in fact Chiaki, the girl whose loss caused them all to become Despair in the first place. Whether he knew he was doing it or not, he sacrificed himself to save Chiaki, the girl he couldn’t save last time, and i just think that’s full of so much angsty romantic emotions that it makes me wanna curl up in a ball and think about it for several hours

also my favorite thing about volo is even though he’s completely unhinged and obsessed he’s also just, genuinely, a very cute person who actually genuinely loves his pokemon a lot. like, he’s got a togekiss, you can’t get that pokemon without loving it a lot.

he’s not a villain for evil reasons, it’s more of like...an excess of love, i think.

I think a friend said it (maybe in the tags of something? sorry i don’t remember who it was ;w;), but thinking about Yu-Gi-Oh today and the loss of Takahashi recently...despite my growing away from DM out of all the yugioh series somewhat, it does bear saying that Yu-Gi-Oh is probably one of the few shonen series out there that doesn’t end with an epilogue where everyone is happily straight married.

Other than just being really nice to not have something like that in general, I think it says a lot about what kind of a story Yu-Gi-Oh is. Yu-Gi-Oh accepts the fact that stories never really end, and doesn’t bother putting a tidy bow on things. The story of Atem was over, but the story of his friends will continue on, and to go forward and time and see them all paired off as adults would be against the spirit of the story. It’s all about beginnings out of endings. Our stories keep going in the people we leave behind, even when we’ve stepped off the stage.

I meant to write something about how much Yu-Gi-Oh meant to me in honor of Takahashi-sensei’s memory, but I think this rumination turned into all I needed to say while I was typing it out. Yu-Gi-Oh is important in a lot of ways. It’s so much more than a commercial for a card game. At its heart, it was a story that Takahashi wanted to tell, and the stories that came after it in his universe were also told by people who wanted to tell emotional stories, not just stories that sold toys.

Takahashi-sensei’s part of the story has come to a close, but the story won’t ever end because we are all still here with the memory of it.

Thank you, Takahashi-sensei. You’ve changed a lot of lives.

From Far Away is the superior isekai because it is the only one, to my knowledge, to have the protagonist not understand the language of the fantasy world she goes to, and have to take the time and effort to actually learn it. This is both excellent from a worldbuilding standpoint, a narrative standpoint that stands out in a sea of isekai in which the world seems to bend into shape specifically for the protagonist, and also because it gives us great moments like this

@rylissa you can say it louder, and this is true for both online and RL friendships, and yeah, curating your online experience people IS self-care, not the one that gives immediate gratification, but even if it takes a little work, you're saving yourself a lot of grief for the future.

@blueeyeswhitegarden honestly re-reading this today makes me wonder again if they actually know what they're saying, because that's not even how you use the word "reductive"... but yeah, if this isn't someone trolling, then I doubt they're actually concerned about their or anyone's mental health, it's another example of toxic people learning "therapy speak" in order to validate their toxic behaviors, in this case people wanting to control what their friends do and who they talk to, which shouldn't be a controversial take that actual friends aren't supposed to do that, but here we are.

Excuse me but don't you think your post is very reductive not to mention ableist? For some people with bad mental health it's too much to handle an entire block list let alone a filter what could even be wrong about asking a little favour from a mutual and not force you to interact with someone through their dash? That's common sense if you ask me, if their your friend I don't see why they shouldn't, specially if the request involves obvious p*dos and proshitters.

I... spent a good half an hour staring at this ask, half because I was trying to understand it and half because I honestly felt like it transported me back to 2014, and a small-ish part of me wonders if this isn't just a troll or something

Assuming you, anon, are reading this, I'm just gonna say the following:

First, if you have such a poor mental health that curating your tumblr experience is "too much" you shouldn't be here at all, you should be attending to your mental health rather than trying to have strangers online to accommodate you.

Second, a mutual is not "forcing you" to interact with anyone, you are choosing not to be responsible for your online experience and shifting the blame onto someone else, and then acting offended at the idea that they see through you, that's far from common sense. I don't know if this could be related to this tendecy I've seen as of late of feeling obligated to follow someone back when they follow you, which is absolutely bonkers, I don't expect people to follow me back, and I certainly don't follow back every single new follower I get, at best I check if they aren't bot and go on with my day, which leads me to the next and last point:

Third, mutuals and friends are not the same, and you shouldn't ascribe to them the same "obligations" that a friend supposedly has, even if you're actually friends with a mutual, friends aren't suppose to feel obligated to not hang out with others because you don't like them or hate them, if the person in question has never hurt or harrassed you or worse, such requests are never justified as favors or "because we're friends'.
