After YEARS of going back and forth on this, I finally got my hands on one of the most desired snakes on my list - a BEL (Super Lesser) Python regius 💙
This lady is a tad small and light for her age but we’re already working on that! She should be ready to breed in 2024. Stunning, stunning animal, especially in daylight. A real world shirohebi!

new oc 🤯
her name is rhea and she is a blue-eyed leucistic ball python/dragon hybrid [mainly why she has fangs and spikes]
she's also kind of grumpy and also Listen. i know that she has boobs. i know. i also know that reptiles don't have boobs. but she's also anthropomorphic and half dragon so i think if she wants titties she can have them ez

I used to have a fursona as a teenager, and let go of her when I thought it was time to "be an adult". Over the last year I dusted her off and she lives rent free in my brain again.
Having a fursona is an amazing coping mechanism for me and drawing her has made me feel so comfortable and happy. The last year has brought on a lot of challenges for me, so having her and imagining her hanging out with my other ocs or with characters that I like is fun, and also free...
I was also thinking about picking up my old name and making an art account for my furry stuff.
I think more people should make fursonas and I'm dead serious. the process of self-exploration that naturally comes along with creating a funny little critter to represent yourself is SO valuable, as you consider the types of animals you vibe with and what kind of aesthetic/colours/personality/etc suit you and stuff like that (fun fact this process is how I figured out I was transgender lol. not saying that will happen to you but just proving that you can learn a LOT about yourself through this design process and any subsequent design changes)
and then when you're all done, you have a little freak you can do whatever you want with! edit them poorly into memes, commission lavish oil paintings of them to hang in your mansion, use them as a personal online mascot, design a fucked up evil twin for them to fight, soak them in milk and throw them at the wall, anything really. same stuff some people do with fandom characters they really like, except it's 100% yours and nobody can tell you you're doing it wrong! also now you have an animal your friends can associate with you and they'll send you funny pics/videos of that animal that make them think of you. literally it's just wins all the way down for you and everybody you associate with. everyone should have one of these things!!
#squirrel btw#and using logic that makes sense to me#she is blue eyed leucistic#even though thats for royal pythons lol#fursona#its all in good fun#its for me so i can be as cringe as i want

Walks with Aziraphale were always so amusing, especially when he took one of his different forms. Tonight, Crowley took note of a few different reactions:
1. Much to his bemusement, quite a few people crossed the road entirely just to avoid him (he didn't know why, he thought this particular form was very charming).
2. Those who didn't avoid them either didn't notice at all, or cooed adoringly at his companion. A few snake enthusiasts tried their best to impart advice upon him (Yes, he was aware it was a chilly night to have a python outside. Yes, he was aware that he had a few extra rolls on him, and he would appreciate it if they didn't body shame him, please and thank you).
3. He had a particularly interesting encounter with a stranger who tried his best to buy Aziraphale from him (he didn't know whether to laugh or be offended on his companion's behalf when the person subsequently dropped their price offering upon learning he was male. He turned them down, of course).
This just in: local vampire hunter tries his hardest to look cool in front of his crush.
I said soon and I guess I meant now haha.
I could help but draw Crowley and Aziraphale from @mrghostrat 's new Vampire AU (thanks for the permission btw!!) and I'll be damned if I couldn't pass up the opportunity to draw Ball Python Azi after being deeply entrenched in Ball python morphs and drawing them for the past few years.
I'm also a big sucker (har har) for any kind of vampire au, so I was incredibly excited to draw this!! I'm still not confident in my ability to draw Crowley (or jackets oof) but I tried.
On that, while I have ya'll here, a few fun facts about Ball Pythons and Morphs:
Azi looks to me to be based on a Blue Eyed Lucy (Leucistic) ball python. Leucistic is different from Albino - both lack pigment, but Leucistics only lack pigments in parts, rather than entirely like with Albinism. The fastest way to tell the difference is the eye color.
Blue Eyed Lucies have eye colors that range from Black to Blue - blue obviously being the more popular eye color.
The whiter the snake, the more sought after it is (not all Lucies are pure white, depends on the morph combo)
Unlike a majority of ball python morphs, Blue Eyed Lucies don't have a distinct gene combo that defines them. Generally, their morphs included Mocha, Mojave, Lesser, Butter, etc. The combos are generally endless. A Super Mojave (Mojave bred to Mojave) will produce a fairly grey/white snake, but their heads tend to be a very dusty grey, and isn't an ideal combo for a Lucy.
A snake that seems incredibly white when hatched may change color as it ages and become less white. This is common for all morphs, and their patterns define themselves and get stronger with age.
In breeding, males are generally less desired than females, and run at a lower price generally. This is because a single male can breed multiple females, so it's less effective to have more males in a clutch than females.
Obesity in snakes IS a real thing, and generally hard to manage if you do have an obese snake. Snakes tend to retain weight well, so exercise is really the only method to help bring their weight down (plus smaller meals). Good luck if you have an obese snake that isn't particularly inclined to be active.
Ball Pythons generally tend to have what's called a 1,000 gram wall - in which a snake that hits 1k grams stops eating and will not gain more weight. No one is 100% sure why this phenomena happens, but it's incredibly common.
Not a fact but opinion: Paradox ball Pythons are my favorite morph. If you want to see some incredibly interesting genetics, look them up.

Ok so. I needed for a fic im thinking of so I went all out to try to research wtf is Kohane's snake.
Ok so what we know: Kohane has a snake, in one of her birthday cards she gets a silly snake plushie as a gift, which we can assume looks like her own snake.
Knowing that, i went after this silly snake.
First thing: Species. First thing I thought of is a Ball python. First of all bc it's one of the most common snake species in the world, and as far as I can see, Japan does not have any legislation against snakes that arent protected species (at least at importing, which was all I could find, its hard being a writer), so without anything to go with, i chose it, plus its a big species, which I can easily see Kohane liking it better.
So ok, the snake is white, with red eyes, that is usually indicative of albinos, however...
Albinos usually work by taking away the dark pigmentation, which in ball python (and most snakes) does not make them fully white and instead.
Yellow spots.
Kohane's snake has none of those, so I keep searching and come across this morph (variations in colors and patterns/morphology):
The leucistic morph Ball python, its a combination of many morphs and rare to find one that is actually fully white, but...
It has blue eyes.
Back to the search ig.
I come across this one, looks kinda perfect, right? White, red eyes..
One problem, or two. The name i find under it says its a "wedding morph", however...
First of all. The wedding morph is this one
Still very white, but dark eyes.
Second problem of that red eyed one, looks like it has many kinks on its back, which is where the spine goes kinda > and usually does not mean a healthy snake. Is it a genetic thing from the morph or just the specific snake? Not sure actually, but I cant find out without knowing the morph...
Anyways, both the Wedding morph and the Leucistic morph are over 600 dollars, + the cost of the keeping (uv lights, heaters), place it lives (big ass aquariums) and feeding (rats, usually).
So yeah Kohane is richer than I thought...
When I write that, im going to use the leucistic morph, i found it prettier, and here ends my snake ramble.

If you get this, answer w/ three random facts about yourself and send it to the last seven blogs in your notifs. anon or not, doesn’t matter, let’s get to know the person behind the blog!
Oooh ok hm... three random facts about me 🤔
I have a pet snake! He is a blue-eyed leucistic ball python. Meaning he has blue eyes and white scales. His name is Casper and he's 3 years old! 🥰
I have curly hair. Idk how interesting this is but I couldn't think of anything else. My hair is about a 3A. It's really long too and I try to take good care of it. It goes down to my hips if I straighten it but when it's curly it's shorter 🫠
I think quite a few people know this, but I was in a cult for the majority of my time in college. It was absolutely terrible but it's probably the most interesting thing about me. I was even a guest on a podcast where I told my story 🥲
Tagging last seven blogs in my notifs: @omigoshz @simpxxslutxx @stingr3y @another-night27 @cantchoosejust1
Sorry I don't know y'all, I hope you don't mind the tag 😭
