Blood of the Covenant - Original Fiction

When I was in high school, we were given an assignment to create a piece that was reverent and horrifying. Something that would make others anxious and live the piece. This was borne from that assignment.

The first kill. It always brings about heightened emotions, heightened senses, adrenaline and regret in several, egregious waves.

The first one feels the adrenaline wear thin, the feeling of sticky wet blood clinging to your fingers makes your stomach churn and a sickly bile to scratch at the back of your throat. You want to vomit, but you can’t, it won’t come. It just sits there, threatening to come and spill from your parted lips. You attempt to take in steady breaths, but you find yourself beginning to hyperventilate, gulps of air coming deep, fast and raggedly ripping themselves from your raw throat and out your mouth again.

The second wave brings an itch. The feeling of regret and fear begins to claw its way under your skin, running back and forth along your hammering veins. The blood roars in your ears as an army of ants trails to and fro through your arms and legs.

Finally, the realization crashes over you.

And you scream. Then you scream more when your hands run through your hair, staining it red with the life force of another. Shaky digits grip at hair, uprooting the strands like trees from a forest.

The final wave, acceptance, doesn’t come until much later. When you’ve screamed as much as you can scream, you’ve cried and mourned the loss of life in front of you. You pull yourself from the pool you’ve created, drag yourself into the shower to finally rinse your sin from your skin and scrub your wrongdoings away. You finally allow yourself to let go, refocus and continue on as if it never happened. Until it happens again. And again.

That’s how your nightmare begins. And it will never end.

Bede is here to give her a little preen on top of the head and lightly chirrup, Oh he'd been busy but he still had to take time to see one of his favorite people, He has brought part of a wailord for her to enjoy as a gift and his feathers are still dripping just slightly with water.

It was impossible to be down for long with her Bede there, making her let out a purr-like rumble from running his beak through her hair.

She flops down on her side, inviting him to cuddle with her on the beach in front of the partial carcass he's brought her. "My, my, my, is all of this for me?"

He doesn’t bother with a response to his choice in wording, clearly his agitated appearance and slowly reddening face should have given an answer to his current problems. But...he still managed to answer some of that, an obvious low growl leaving his lips in the process.

“Not that it came on quicker....it’s been building up for a little while...finally could’t deal with it anymore...” He admitted, awaiting a scolding from the Guardian at his stubbornness in this matter. Luckily neither him, or Gira would have to wait much longer, being confined to his bed with psychic energy. He knew Gira wouldn’t like it this way, but he didn’t care, he just needed this to stop as soon as possible. He did try to tug at his restraints...there was no way he would be able to wriggle out of them or break the others hold on him. Even if Gira were to take control...being in his body, he wouldn’t be able to do much...even if he could feel Gira shifting around, moving to Sync up with him. 

 “Please...” It was a quiet beg, but he knew the other heard him, trying to shift his hips as soon as Bede got on top of them.

((Ooh that’s interesting! I made mine Sinnoh cause Sinnoh was the first place Aura came up in regions officially (as in the actual power Aura). Plus where the good Aura doggo is native. I’m partially curious though. Does that mean Eagun and Belluh are also Kalosian and moved to Orre since it IS canon that Rui has grandparents that live in Agate Village in Orre? But yes another Rui I’m so excited I love seeing more of my girl.))
