Kinda sideways question but do you have some points regarding our lovely ascended? I haven't played D&D before BG3 so i aint that knowledgable regarding vampires in that lore. What powers do you think he has gotten, aside from speaking to the "night", considering He-Who-Will-Always-Be-Killed kinda did speak/order the beasts at his party in his city villa?

I kinda HC'ed him with True Immortality, later evolved Bloodmancy (like in ATLA), the power of the 7007 Souls and the (undoubtly) others following later down the line (huh, maybe he can use "gifts"/"talents" from souls and gift them to his spawn later like in, urgh, Twilight), the power to swallow the sun (way later down the line; growing into new powers takes time. And I like the sun! Astarion, honey, you haven't the sun in that long at least let it stay up there for a few thousand years okay-), charming abilities superior to any spells...By the gods ruling the world has a nice sound to it but it sounds so tedious, no wonder my insert wanted to travel the world first...

Larian has left A!A's lore pretty vague. We only really get what Astarion tells us which, I mean...He's a drama queen and not super reliable as a source of information lol I think Larian wanted to leave alot of his deal to interpretation. I've seen WIDELY different takes on A!A that sound like completely different people. I personally think A!A spends his days sunbathing in his newly renovated castle with his consort, feeding each other grapes n stuff. And doesn't actually use his powers much. He doesn't really need to.

I'd love to know what powers he comes into with time. Because in game he says he's still getting used to his new self. I think apart from the powers mentioned in game, he would have a super hypnotic/intoxicating presence that allows him to manipulate people. I think he shares it with his partner as well. DnD lore isn't very helpful when it comes to A!A. He's a brand new type of being and alot of the rules of vampirism don't apply to him. He's essentially a daywalker with a little spice.

The Magic System

Magic is well documented but not widespread. Only a few creatures have been able to wield it up til now. These days there are a few academies dedicated to learning more about it, and willing to teach anyone with a natural gift for it. Those gifted are sparse, but more and more appear every day.

Magic is deeply versatile and most magic beings can wield it. So what types of magic is there?

Blood Magic/ Sanguimancy

Not the most beloved form of magic, but powerful nonetheless. There are those who use their own blood (or someone else's) to engage in the art of Blood Manipulation. As Magic is stored in the blood, this is hardly new, but due to the fact that magic-infused blood is highly reactive, not many wish to spill theirs.

Bloodmancy is usually used to improve one's own physical form, such as extend their life expectancy, improve physical prowess, or even gain more powers. The truly skilled are able to shape blood, form it into weapons or armor. They can even influence other people's blood, to boil, to freeze, or to harden.

However, the moment that Sanguimancy is performed on someone other than yourself, that's when the Witch Hunters are summonded.

Dark/ Shadow Magic

A magic shared by demons and creatures of the dark, it is the most feared form of magic.

Gifted to Witches by Demons looking for a contract, this magic is connected to shadows, darkness and voids. What is unique about this type of magic, is that it is perfectly catered to the wielder. Demons find the desperate and offer them a contract, to gain access to a wide array of powers, tinged with the other types of magic, in return for a way to be by their Witches' side in the above world.

Usually perfect for those who wish for trickery and stealth, the wielder is forced into using it, as they will become closely scrutinised, and usually... Hunted.

Your own familiar, Seir, has gifted you with these powers, and you haven't slept well since.

Elemental Magic

The most basic form of magic for Witches to wield, this craft has the wielder control the elements. Earth, fire, water, air. The basics are just shifting dirt, producing a small flame, making water divert from its course, a small gust of wind. Masters usually focus on one element and thrive in their craft, able to form structures, produce a wall of flames, create a waterfall from nothing, and levitate.

Grey/ Life and Death Magic

Those who use Grey Magic are closely monitored at all times. They are able to wield the energy of life and death, to heal and to damage as they wish. It is often called the cousin of Blood Magic due to this.

A lot of the death magic involved with grey magic is prohibited and needs a letter from the council at the academy or the government to be allowed to perform it. Since the incident of 1467, in which a Grey Witch raised an entire battalion of zombies, there has been a great amount of public paranoia regarding the magic type. Therefore, the Witch Hunters were formed to investigate and kill most witches they found. Now, in order to perform necromancy, you must ask permission for any creature bigger than a hummingbird.

Light

A simplistic form of magic, most often looked down upon. Light Witches are able to create illusions, as tricks of the light, and are able to twist perceptions of those around them. Wielders of this are able to trick crowds of people, but it's extremely hard to get to this level of mastery.

Nature

Nature magic is the most ancient of all. It has a long history of being wielded by Druids and those connected to the Earth. These wielders are able to urge plants to thrive, for seeds to bloom, to control flora to the extent of shaping them to the user's preference. Masters of this magic are even able to communicate with Fauna, and therefore, most have an animal companion to accompany them through life.

KNY - Fantasy AU (Wait... what if this was really set in the world of Dark Souls?)

Hey, you might know that I've been writing a lot about a fantasy AU, already set in the Dark Souls universe, even if the setting isn't exactly Lordran, this time we're talking about some of my characters in Dark Souls 1, it would just be really really interesting. Maybe I'll write something about how an hypothetical run would go but this time let's focus on builds, this is one of my favourite things ever.

the thing about dungeon meshi and autism is that the lessons it is clearly trying to teach are not dissimilar in tone to a children's program, all that gentle kindness about being good to your body because you need it to do activities and help people, but its clearly teaching this to adults. like I think laios is the youngest (idk how old the kitty girl is I'm only watching the anime) and he's like...26? 23? like a full grown ass man. and as an autistic adult who struggles to feed myself and other basic survival activities I just find it personally very like. comforting. like hey, lots of people struggle with this, it is hard, but you can get through it. and also here's an unhinged lesbian bloodmancer trying to save her stoner gf.

Kelmet: sanitation worker SUPREME! you have no idea how many rats this guy has killed w his bare hands (and this gun he found). a very large garbodor, Alolan muk, dachsbun that has gone moldy, and a single bergmite bc all good sanitation workers are cold casters (ice wizards) they are also usually being followed by a bunch of lil trubbishs and roaming form gimmighouls

Zafell: an old guard partykiller (demon hunter). grumpy old women who could be forcibly retired any day now. she tries not to think abt it. is only Rem's mentor bc he wouldn't leave her alone. gardevoir, absol, kilowattrel, sneasler, froslass, silvally, and multiple others she'd rather not talk abt

Rem: apprentice partykiller. Some Kid that Zafell found chopped up in the trash she stitched him back together tho so it's fine. has no memory of who killed him, but given he's a bloodmancer it was probably bc of the blood trade (see bloodmancers have the Good Shit in their veins) pidove, greavard, riolu

Mammon: very successful blood dealer/debt collector from Across who complains a lot and would like to go home(when he is in Across he complains abt the lights & noise) gliscor that kills ppl, beldum that he psychically beats ppl w, honchkrow (don't tell anyone but the first time he visited This Side he was so happy to learn that birds are real), and a rotom that he let's electrocute him every so often so he can remember what home is like
