You know what. Enough politics for today.
Get off your phone.
Drink some water.
Eat some snacks and pad yourself on the shoulder for the courage to exist in such times.
You deserve a break.
And have some cows staring into your soul through the fog.

do you think the turtles have any phobias or anything like that maybe stuff that grosses them out
well as a projector enjoyer i think ur fav turtle has ur phobias u wanna give them by law
as for me, i project my trypanophobia and fear of clowns onto raph LMAO
as for like... stuff beyond projection and like for waht i maybe think about from the show/movie,, i think they each have their own specific fear/things that freak them out, many things, as is normal. but nothing thats like severe enough to name specifically?
just like... normal discomfort around alot of specific things, each their own... i cant reallty think of any specific things
as for severe phobias, other than mikey being scared of paranormal stuff, donnie and beach balls, and raph and rabbits/puppets, im unsure if i headcanon anything specific like that outside of any like.. self-indulgence

[pride needs to be. Trans women are women and stop forcing beliefs onto other people. We care and today we care. Gender, you need some help?]
There's a queerphobic person in my messages. Please block them if you can and stay safe -> @vanduul89
And in case vanduul89 sees this: I was going to write a reply explaining why you're wrong, but I figured people like you can't be argued with properly and writing something elaborate is a waste of my time that is too precious to spend on this bs, so all you need to know is:
that you're the one forcing your beliefs on us right now, not the other way round (funny, isn't it?)
that if you want to avoid queer people, tumblr is quite frankly the wrong platform. (Or are you deliberately trying to pick a fight and bully innocent people? I think I`m recognising a pattern...)
Also, it's funny that you claim in your blog info that you don't interact with minors, yet you appear unwanted in my messages to say such crap.

Though I did let cantonese a bit down due to my uni work, but I can still add some resources and absolute beginner tips.
First some YouTube channels: (sorry for being unable to add links)
Dope chinese with gloria: Cantonese and mandarin, she is from Guangdong and currently lives in Thailand, has her own app as well
Canto Big Circle 廣東話大圈子: 5 minute lessons and stories
InspirLang: Cantonese, Toishanese and Mandarin, less language learning but more fun and first generation experience
KongMarkYeah: Idioms, short stories and little bit of grammar, kids and beginner friendly
Easy languages: They have currently 10 videos in cantonese, beginners should stick with "Super easy cantonese"
Learn Cantonese with CantoneseClass101.com: YouTube, Website, Tumblr and more, though they aren´t the very best they have one the largest ressources online available and shouldn´t be left out
Locy Lee Learning: More for kids but still kinda fun if your are into animation and songs
Hong Kongese Speak Cantonese: Short sentences, words and phrases
There are far more apps than you would imagine, but I will stick with the ones I actually tried out. I am a native german speaker hence I tried out apps that offer cantonese-german translations. Native english speaker should have more options:
Drops: 5 minutes vocabulary, the jyutping is sometimes a bit off, but the free version works absolutly fine and you have traditional characters, romanization, translation and a small picture
Ling learn cantonese language: (the one with the monkey) the first few lessons are free, had the payed version but the lack of grammar and character learning was a bit annoying and the pronounciation exercises didn´t really work, the closest you can get to a typical language learning app, trad. characters, jyutping and translation, a bit hard for absolute beginners
Learn cantonese easy: (the one with the elephant) for vocabulary only, some characters were missing within the sentences and the app itself had some issues, nice for digital vocab cards nontheless
Cantones by bluebird: better for more advanced learners, absolute beginners might be overwhelmed or confused, whole conversations
canTONEse: focusses only on the tones, for kids and absolute beginners
Additonal websites:
yellowbridge.com: Only for mandarin but they can show the stroke order of every character, even the more unusual ones pleco can´t show
Some tipps I can give for absolute beginners who start from scratch:
Learn the stroke order to look up characters in Pleco but don´t spend hours trying to write unless your top priority is writing
Learn the tones at first and listen to your own speaking. There a some free Discord servers with free cantonese lessons if you want to improve your speaking but don´t panic to much.
Make learning as much fun as possible. You don´t like Hong Kong cinema that much? That´s ok, you can watch some YouTube instead. I really like Coffee林芊妤 and 點 Cook Guide.
Be carefull with subtitles, colloquial cantonese is rather uncommen with subtitels. This character 佢 (keoi5, he/she/it) is a good indicator if something is written colloquial or not.
Use the slowest speaking videos at first (冚唪唥粵文讀本 Hambaanglaang Cantonese Graded Readers, super easy cantonese episode 1 verbs and colours) and then try to level up with regular speaking videos.
Watch shows in cantonese you have already seen in your native language. Though you might not understand much it feels less overwhelming. If you can´t find any, go to shows that exist in your native language and then switch to cantonese (eg. Animes, kids shows). Peppa pig is available in almost any language.
Pleco can be used to create vocab cards as well, please don´t underestimate this app.
Good luck! Don´t panic and don´t give up. It took me several months until I had my first successes.
@don-dake You deserve a big hug for not putting pressure on your mutuals bit still providing good feedback. Wish you the very best of luck!
Hi! I was wondering if you could recommend any apps / online resources for learning Cantonese as an English speaker.
Oh hi! Very flattered you'd choose to ask me of all people but…I'm afraid I may not exactly be the best person to ask this…especially if you're asking as a beginner?
You see, I didn't exactly start from scratch. I come from a Cantonese background (can speak and understand average, conversational Cantonese) and had schooling in Mandarin for more than a decade (which helped, even if my Mandarin is still not great either LOL), so my “learning” was largely based on…how shall I say it? Heritage instinct…in a way (I hope you get what I mean), gut instinct, passive learning, you know? Not from conventional language books or apps.
My idea of “studying” Cantonese is more or less just, install a Jyutping (Cantonese Romanization) keyboard after a read-up on how to use Jyutping, expose myself to lots and lots of Cantonese content (TV series, movies, songs, etc.) and just wing my way through with trial and error LOL by listening to and matching the spoken Cantonese against the Standard Chinese subs (can be read in Mandarin) that often come with Cantonese shows and eventually figuring out any more differences that I didn't already know.
So I've only really needed a dictionary app to help with vocabulary. I don't really know what are the best language apps (the kind that introduces you to sentence structures, the really basic stuff and all?) to use out there for Cantonese.
I've seen people throw out names like ‘Anki’, ‘Duolingo’ and if I recall correctly, something called ‘Drops’? But I can't ascertain on how good they are, haven't felt the need to try them. LOL
For dictionary apps, I will strongly recommend Pleco, it's geared for Mandarin mainly, but it also has allowance for Cantonese if you add the Cantonese extension packs (some good, free ones available) that can be found within the app itself.
Online sites I use to supplement Pleco are mainly MDBG, and cantonesesheik.
There used to be an interesting language account here for Cantonese language stuff called language-obsession. Even though they don't seem to be active anymore, the account still stands and has quite good advice and links to Cantonese learning resources. Would be a good idea to check them out.
Then there's also YouTube and/or Instagram, which seem to have a more active Cantonese language community and content than here, also a good idea to check those platforms out for starters.
You can find a fair bit of Cantonese language creators there who offer content in bite-sized pieces, often with Jyutping and/or English subtitles.
Off the top of my head, I can think of mslinchinese, hambaanglaang, Cantonese with Brittany, inspirlang, poeticCantonese, to name a few.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but hopefully someone more able to will see this post and be willing to offer better advice?
Anyone? I know there are at least some Cantonese speakers/learners here but as “everyone is shy on Tumblr”, and I don't wish to unintentionally pressure specific individuals into a reply, not using the @.
