When you were away, he would watch TV and look through things like Instagram. It was fun at first and helped him to understand people more and taught him things about how humans work. Recently, he'd been seeing so many ads for new phones and computers, gaming consoles, smart watches and none of them looked like how they used to; none of them looked like him anymore.

You came home once you finished running errands and he asked you that,

[Do you need an upgrade now?]

This seemed to please him, as you pulled out a smart watch and plugged it into his systems, waiting to see if this would work. Sure enough a small green screen appeared on the screen before a smiling face popped up,

[Edgar is portable!]

When you realise what he meant, you sat at your desk and let out a sigh, trying to affirm with him that you wouldn't be getting rid of him; that even if you did need newer tech you would upload him to it, nomatter how many new assistants come out none are as good as Edgar.
