“So, the client wants us to kill his neighbour because he’s a piece of shit to his kid?” Striker asked Blitz seeking confirmation as they snuck through a heavily forested area.

“Yep,” Blitz simply replied

“Why did the client end up in hell?” Striker continued

“ha-ha because of all the other shit he did, stealing money, beating the shit outta people at bars, that sort of crap,” Blitz chuckled

“Humph, guess he’s got one redeeming quality,” Striker scoffed with a smirk

“Right? Ah shit looks like there’s two places, target could be in either location,” Blitz groused noticing through the trees there were two dilapidated buildings.

“Looks like it…I’ll take the left, Ya take the right?” Striker offered

“Sure,” Blitz agreed already moving towards the right building.

Striker headed towards the left building taking caution as he pushed through the hanging door quickly realizing this building wasn’t the main one. Trudging over debris on the floor Striker decided to clear the place then head off to join Blitz in the other building however as he rounded a corner a large figure tackled Striker from behind, pinning the imp to the ground with a series of well-placed punches eventually knocking Striker out. Meanwhile Blitz was making his way into the other building cautiously maneuvering around the ratty furniture seeking the target only to have his own search cut short by a baseball bat colliding with the side of his head.

Blitz released a groan as his vision slowly crept back into reality unfortunately bringing with it an aching headache. Glancing around Blitz could make out in the darkness that he was in a basement possibly inside the building he’d previously been exploring, wiggling revealed his arms were bound behind himself to the chair he was currently sitting in. Wiggling a little more allowed Blitz to find a slightly sharp edge on the old chair allowing him to start rubbing the rope on that spot, slowly fraying the fibers when the sound of heavy boots started coming down a set of stairs to Blitz’s left around a half wall. A large muscular man strode down the stairs wearing what Blitz could only think was the child abuser or wife beater special, white tank top with jeans and boots combo.

Meanwhile…Striker managed to regain his own consciousness quickly realizing his arms were tied behind his back as he lay on the ground. Sitting partially up Striker glanced around the dark room he was in, a boarded-up window indicated he was perhaps upstairs in the building he’d been looking around previously then he noticed a metal cage in the corner with a small figure huddled inside. Sitting up fully Striker could see the figure was a child sitting with its knees pulled to its chest watching Striker out of the corner of their eye.

“Ya, okay?” Striker asked although the question simply elicited a small head nod of approval from the small child.

“Good, give me a few minutes and I’ll getchya outta there,” Striker assured the little one as he started feeling out his ropes for a way to break loose.

Back in the main house Blitz watched as the man came around in front of him with a sinister smirk on his features. Blitz snarled at the man eliciting a scoffed laugh right before he punched Blitz right in the face making the imp grunt in pain although his defiant look never left his face.

“So, demons are after me now huh? Oh well, I’ll deal with you and send you two back to hell,” The man declared proudly

“If I had a fucking dollar for every time, I heard that…” Blitz trailed off with a huffed laugh

“Shut the fuck up! You are nothing!” The man barked angrily

“You know you remind me of my old man,” Blitz growled irritably

Memories started to creep into the forefront of Blitz’s mind from when he was younger, smell of alcohol as he was hit with a belt upon messing up a routine in the circus, being belittled for everything. Shaking his head Blitz focused on working his ropes free even as the man pulled back to hit him again and again eventually succeeding in freeing himself. Blitz tackled the man by throwing his full weight onto him giving a hearty growl while baring his teeth right in the man’s face, flipping backwards off him when the guy took another swing.

Back at the second house Striker finally managed to free himself from the ropes instantly heading over to the cage where the child was being held. Grabbing a nearby rock Striker hit the lock a few times causing it to pop open allowing him to open the door, taking a knee he gestured for the child to come to him which after a little coaxing he did. Striker guided the child from the second house, instructed him to hide then headed to the main house to help Blitz who he was certain was potentially in a lot of trouble by now.

Turned out Striker was right Blitz let out a yelp as he stumbled backwards from being hit again, shaking off the stunning effect of the blow as he took a stance. Using his nimbleness Blitz dodged two more punches getting off two of his own followed by a knee to the guy’s stomach causing him to double over in pain. Blitz landed a punch to either side of the guy’s head then kneed him under the jaw sending the man reeling backwards on to his back while Blitz stood panting.

“Humph, you little…shit…when I get hold of…you…your punishment will be…more painful…then anything…you’ve ever…felt…” The man groaned out angrily

Blitz felt his pulse quicken as a nasty memory squirmed in his mind, a cracking whip followed by intense agony as blood dribbled to the ground. Striker came just in time to see Blitz slowly backing away from the man on the ground, eyes wide as he heaved in breath after breath. The man managed to get on one knee immediately looking to make advancements on Blitz, Striker came up fast from behind the man hitting him in the side then wrapping his long rattling tail around his neck.

“Blitz! Ya, okay?” Striker called to the crimson imp successfully snapping him out of his panic attack.

“Striker? When did you get down here?” Blitz called back in surprise

“Never mind that, wanna help me out here?” Striker asked, dodging the man’s attempts to attack him while keeping his tail wrapped firmly around his neck. Shaking off the anxiety Blitz lunged towards the guy with his claws extended, slashing across the man’s neck just above Striker’s tail effectively slicing it open prompting Striker to retract his tail. The duo backed off a bit to watch as the large man hit the ground with a gurgling sound as his blood pooled on the floor, the imps panting heavily from the ordeal. Adrenaline wearing off Blitz began to shake slightly causing him to grab his upper arms while his tail coiled protectively around himself unconsciously. Striker noticed Blitz reaction immediately, turning to come stand right in front of Blitz gently pulling the crimson imp into an embrace, nuzzling against Blitz’s neck in an attempt to comfort his mate.

“Ya alright Darlin’?” Striker gently asked after a couple minutes

“Yeah, let’s get the fucking pictures and get out of here,” Blitz unconvincingly responded

“Alright,” Striker agreed helping Blitz locate his phone in the basement

Blitz took the pictures, sent them off to the client then they called the human authorities to come get the kid they’d saved before finally heading back to hell. Once back at their shared apartment Blitz shrugged off his trench coat, hung it by the door and headed straight into the kitchen where he pulled out a bottle of tequila to pour a shot. Striker hung up his own jacket beside Blitz’s then undid his vest on the way over to the kitchen just in time to watch Blitz down the shot he had just poured.

“Wanna talk about it?” Striker inquired as Blitz was already pouring a second shot.

“Not particularly,” Blitz admitted downing the second shot

“Ya sure? Never seen Ya have one that bad while on the job,” Striker pointed out, he had seen Blitz have panic attacks in the past but never while on a job or at least not to that degree.

“Yeah, I know….” Blitz trailed off staring straight ahead

“Is this about Yer old man?” Striker inquired carefully as he knew the topic was a sensitive one for Blitz. There was a long pause as Blitz scowled then capped the tequila bottle deciding the hang over tomorrow wasn’t worth the potential numbness tonight.

“Yeah…” Blitz finally answered in barely a whisper, but Striker caught it.

“Ya told me some of what’s gone on…but not everythin’,” Striker gently pressed  

“Ha! I’ve told you nothing! My old man did things to me…” Blitz planted both hands on the counter, jaw clenched as he stared down.

“What did he do?” Striker prompted coming behind Blitz, wrapping his arms around the other imp’s waist.

“Terrible things…there wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t hit me in some way, sometimes it left a mark…sometimes it didn’t,” Blitz breathed out clenching his hands into fists on the counter’s surface.

“Did he hit Ya with his fists or somethin’ else?” Striker wondered pressing his forehead against the back of Blitz’s neck.

“Sometimes he used his fists but mostly he used his belt…on really bad days…he…h-he used the whip…” Blitz answered with a quiver in his voice as Striker pulled back with a disgusted angered look upon his features. Gently Striker turned Blitz around revealing tears pricking the edges of Blitz’s eyes.

“Alright Darlin,’ that’s enough…he’s not here but I am.” Striker stated pressing their foreheads together while pulling Blitz into a loving embrace.

“I-I know…it was just…too similar,” Blitz stammered out, nuzzling into Striker’s nape as he embraced the pale imp back.

“I know…” Striker agreed

They stayed like that for a while in the kitchen until Blitz pulled away to head into the bedroom with Striker following close behind him. The duo got changed then curled up underneath the covers together, embracing one another as they both fell asleep.

Husk frowned and eyed you suspiciously, bottle lowering from his lips. What were you smiling about, what was there to smile about? Shaking his head he kept walking, taking another drink and remembering to tell Angeldust later about the weird experience.

Striker smirked at you and tipped his hat in response. His interest was officially peaked when you just kept going, smiling at other people as you went. What a strange thing to do in Hell, especially in the wrath ring.

Sir Pentious noticed your kind jester and looked around before pointing at himself. When you stop and giggle before nodding, he smiles back and blushes. No one besides Charlie has smiled at him unprompted before, it was nice.

Blitzø stopped and just stared at you deadpan, trying to figure out if he knew you or not. Maybe you wanted to do business? But you walked away, confusing and pissing him off. What the fuck did you want and why were you making it his problem?
