So despite hating himself, Blitz is confident about sex and about work, right?

Right???

Where did all of that confidence go? It's a fun kind of confidence that takes us along for the ride and makes us want to see what he'll do next, and I miss it. Not to mention, seeing him start to break down is a little too relatable.

I've seen a lot of good analysis recently about how and why Blitz's mask is slipping. He's been shaken to the core by everything that happened with Stolas, and now he can't maintain the facade of confidence that's been getting him through daily life.

Recent events have made me think differently about Blitz's hallucination in Truth Seekers. Yes, it shows us lots of fear of relationships- of hurting and being hurt. But the insecurity in particular is standing out to me a lot more now.

Take these quotes from hallucination-Moxxie (actually Blitz's own psyche speaking):

First quote: "I simply follow your orders. It isn't my fault if your orders are as nonsensical as a sun tanning bed left out on the cold rainy porch of a fresh April shower."

Second quote: "you don't know what you are doing half the time and depend on me and the missus to manage your foolish flights of fancy."

I want to point out before getting into the words that in all of these frames the animation is drawn to look like Blitz is glitching out on a computer screen, with frames overlapping and stark colorful lines reverberating. It's like he's barely able to hold onto his identity. It's like he's losing himself.

Now the content of the quotes themselves-- even though Blitz's confident assassin persona is convincing, even though he frequently calls out Moxxie for mistakes and builds himself up, even though when we see him fighting, he KNOWS HE'S GOT THIS, and even though he talks confidently about his schemes, this man SERIOUSLY DOUBTS HIMSELF AT WORK.

Blitz is an improviser, and I've written before about how much I love this because I relate to it. Blitz talks through plans that sound pretty extravagant but don't have many details ironed out (and this drives Moxxie up a wall), and then he pulls them off by acting intuitively and making decisions in the moment. He's great at it. I get it. When plans are too detailed or too set in stone (at work, when traveling, in my writing), I feel seriously boxed in. I need grand vague ideas to get me excited to get going and a lack of details so that I can do what's right in the moment and avoid getting stuck. I did not outline this post. I love that this tendency of Blitz's is portrayed so positively, because in my own experience, it often gets misunderstood as laziness or unrealistic thinking.

Or *cough* "foolish flights of fancy."

So what we have here is Blitz doubting one of the very personality traits that makes him so successful in his work, interpreting it as not knowing what he's doing, and feeling like he has to cover it up. He's down in the imposter syndrome pit with the rest of us.

7. what drew you to writing your current characters?

;; i mean atp i've written for i think nearly everyone in hazbin/hellaverse at this point at least once? aside from some of the overlords, and niffty lmao. but my main muses ( angel, blitz, vox ) are honestly just because they're my favorite! i tend to spend a lot of time analyzing my favorite characters and eventually i just kinda feel like i understand them, which makes me wanna write them :] as for valentino . . . staticmoth. LMAO LITERALLY. THAT WAS THE ENTIRE REASON. being able to write both sides of staticmoth. and the fact that i like exploring darker themes and darker characters.

blitz in particular means a whole lot to me :') i think he's my favorite muse. angel is my favorite character in hellaverse but blitz is just. i have such a strong connection to him. he's such a huge comfort and i see so much of myself in him that i've always been drawn to him. he was my first hellaverse muse and he'll always be special :))

9. how would you describe your aesthetic?

;; changes by the day LMAO. no but seriously i cannot decide whether or not i wanna punk/alt/grunge or overly cute pink strawberry etc. i typically tend to settle for like a kuromi harajuku punk vibe :) black & pink! but like also... nature... if i could design a house, it would be SO much like a fairycore cottage man. that's the DREAM

this could be interpreted as blitzø leaving after a full moon knight, he might want to leave early ect.- but stolitz doesn’t see him staying longer as a bother and he wants him to stay because of course as we’ve seen in the show, he’s extremely lonely- sure he’s on better terms with his daughter but he’s also dealing with a divorce

or the alternative would be their first night when blitzø is trying to steal the grimoire

Blitzø then leaves and is unsure of whether he’ll return,

These can be tied to their night at ozzies, their “breakup” blitzø feels bad but he hates himself sm he can’t bring himself to love stoles or even imagine himself with him, only being tied to him through their deal as we saw in his hallucinations, he’s being pulled by a golden chain and he’s nothing but an imp whilst stolas is royalty.

he wants stolas to forget him

we’re not so sure when stolas is going to give blitzø the ring that can get him to earth without the grimoire but it should be soon because of the convo between fizz and Ozzie after the blitz and fizz ep. but these lines could relate to the stolas giving blitz the ring and telling him he’ll move on and that this is his second try at helping him, his last try before he leaves him

blitzø sees that “he found the man before him had died” cuz bro that is a hell of a breakup plan Omds stolas bby r u ok, Annie r u ok, r u okay Annie,

And now this time, instead of blitz relating to this verse, it’s stolas because he’s the one who’s leaving, quietly disappearing from his life, the last line could be for the both of them.

stolas has no idea how to show his love and affection, he has no one to look up to in that sense, so he copies what blitzø did in thier first night, u know b rlly horny even if he isn’t actually, he just wants to give blitzø what he thinks he wants

whilst blitzø sees this as stolas not wanting him but for his body of whatever, he hates himself sm that that is what his mind has made up, that he’s unlovable and so he doesn’t dserve someone so royal

Blitz always hated surprise but what did he know after fifteen years of silence and distance ? Fuck him for trusting Stolas to know what he preferred. And fuck him twice for getting involved and— No. No. Stop. The spiral was there to take him and he stepped back from it. He didn't know all the details and getting lost in them was useless. it was time to be there for Blitz and that was that. At least stop him probably self-destructing worse than he already was.

He doesn't go home.

It's like this driving force in the back of his that keeps him away from the apartment and Loona, desperate to keep her from finding out. Which, if he thinks about it, makes no sense - is Stolas wasn't lying, then he has the key to the human realm on his fucking wrist right now, no strings attached.

He could think, bitterly, of course it can be a lie - he lied about everything he felt, after all.

But, of course, Blitz knows that is simply untrue, and uncharitable.

He stares at the windshield of the van for a few long, excruciating seconds before throwing the car into drive and peeling out of the ornate, empty fucking courtyard and it's stupid goddamn fountain and its silent, darkened estate. Blitz pretends he doesn't see the tears in Stolas' four eyes every time he blinks; Blitz pretends that there's still fury in his chest to hang onto because fuck you, Stolas is the only thought that's not actively eating him alive.

When he doesn't know where the fuck to go, briefly and deliriously, Blitz thinks about heading to Wrath and hunting Striker for sport. Which is fucking stupid because he's not armed right now, but maybe that would make it more fun. More deadly - nope, not going there. It was a fucking argument and he has a daughter; he can't slip back into those old habits.

Eventually, he settles on a shitty bar in one of the lower levels of Pride, far from the elegant upper rings inhabited by the Goetia, down where no one looks twice at him and no one gives a shit. He's halfway through his third whiskey, punishing himself with the taste and the burn, when he realizes his phone is buzzing.

He blinks blearily at it, uncomprehending until he puts his mind to it. - Right, fuck. He left all that shit in Stolas' bedroom, didn't he ? Maybe he'll toss it - what a shame. Maybe he'll use it with his next plaything - better wash it first, asshole.

THIS is NOT a way you pose with family for a picture/selfie. Like, I have only posed like this for pictures with an extremely close friend (you know, the kind where you're close enough to joke-flirt) OR with my ex-fiancee. But that's neither here nor there. But also I would like to take a moment to fucking CRY about this pic because FIZZ' OUTFIT IS SO??? COOL??? Anyway!! Since we know the white spots on the imps are basically imp-type scarring, I wonder if Fizz's face isn't actually painted white but if it's just imp-scarring instead- meaning Fizz got into an absolutely horrific accident at some point. I wonder if Blitz was also in that accident and that's how he got HIS scars? Did this accident contribute to the deterioration of their relationship? Was it a catalyst? Did they blame each other?

And since there's so much debate on whether or not Fizz is an imp (when he very clearly is...) I wonder if in-universe no one knows Fizz is an imp? It's hinted that Blitz' mom is dead, his sister is supposedly in rehab (assuming that wasn't Verosika just trying to get under his skin) and if Blitz and his family were among the only people who were close to Fizz as kids/teens, then Blitz and Ozzie might be the only ones left who know he's really an imp, the lowest form of hellborn on the demon hierarchy. Like, he'd probably be a lot less famous if people knew he was an imp, right? So if he was trying to hide it now... that would mean despite everything, despite how much Blitz seems to hate Fizz (though the pictures insinuate he still cares, if he's kept them this long), he's still kept Fizz' secret. Like, it's obvious why Ozzie would keep it secret (you know, literally he just criticized Stolas' relationship with an imp so he looks down on it clearly, the hypocrite) but Blitz?

But anyway!! I'm really hoping Blitz gets to reconcile with both Fizz and Verosika, since it seems like they had been genuinely caring relationships at one point. If I had to take a guess, I'd bet that something's gonna happen to Blitz and it's gonna be up to Blitz' new friends (Millie, Moxxie, Loona and Stolas) and his old friends (Verosika and Fizz) to save him. I seriously hope for reconciliation... but I fear what it might cost...

• well, traditionally john and ell get married through extensive and elaborate lies and deceit and emotional manipulation. but! in the instant that they have a real wedding, it's going to be very moderate. this is the one wedding scarlet doesn't impose her will considering she's not pleased they're getting married.

• elliot's wedding dress is powder blue. she jokes about getting a black dress ("for my funeral!") but she goes with the light blue. it's an outside wedding in (preferably) the spring, when things are in bloom!

• joey is her maid of honor! and she spends the entire morning stressing out. does she want to get married? of course she does, but she is inherently designed to flee. so she spends the entire morning talking through every anxiety she has with joey.

• most of the inhabitants of hope county are invited (much to john's disdain) and scarlet is limited to TEN debutant frenemies to invite. ONLY ten. the seeds are also invited, but the ONE thing elliot puts her foot down is having pastor jerome officiate the wedding. she says "john i will not have your creepy older brother wedding us, i'm sorry i won't hear anything about it". they argue nonstop before john relents.

• all in all, it's not a terrible ceremony! in fact, it's quite lovely. until elliot's dad shows up fucking blitzed on cocaine to the reception and starts talking to people who don't know him and vaguely threatening to kill john and dump his body somewhere. good times
