The Vermillion Court is a current WIP and new interactive CYOA novel. The focus is heavily on romance, drama, and the characters. In The Vermillion Court, you are taken to the fantasy period-piece inspired world and continent of Nian. You play as the Fourth Prince or Princess of the Xiatian Kingdom, the child of the King of the Xiatian Kingdom and one of his consorts. As Fourth Prince/Princess, you have a pretty open schedule and a nice cushy life. Being among the first five princes and princesses makes you a prominent enough figure and with six siblings ahead of you in line, no one's really paying attention to what you want to do with your life.

The year is 730 and spring has just given way to the summer season. Various festivals and events are held across the Siji Empire to celebrate the season. At 21-years-old, you're all but happy to attend the social events of the season. Before you leave for the main city, your grandmother informs you that you should look for a partner while there. Apparently your father has been convinced by his favorite wife, Consort Xing, to start marrying you and your siblings off to the other kingdoms. You suspect it has to do with trying to make her son the Crown Prince and are dreading seeing your whole family together again.

Your personal guard and maid accompany you to the capital of Xiatian, where you start a season of festivities, social events, and romance, while also maneuvering the politics of your court and the drama that comes with it.

Kounao is a noble from the Chuntian Kingdom who's arrived at the Xiatian Kingdom as a diplomatic envoy. He is 21-years-old and is suave and charming. It's easy to see why the Chuntian Kingdom sent him as one of their envoys. Despite holding a position of importance, he tends to be a bit immature and childish, enjoying playing pranks on the other envoys who accompanied him. You find his company refreshing. Maybe you could pursue him as a potential husband?

Appearance: Kounao is man of average height and build, standing at about 5'9. He is fit, but not muscular. He is of partial foreign descent with clear brown skin and short straight black hair. His eyes are dark brown, nearly black.

The Lady from the Dongtian Kingdom - Shen Sandong (she/her)

Sandong is a noble from the Dongtian Kingdom who's arrived at the Xiatian Kingdom as a diplomatic envoy. She is 22-years-old and is very quiet. Her facial expression doesn't change much and she prefers to keep to herself. She doesn't have much to say, but enjoys letting you talk. She's a welcome change of pace to the typically hectic palace. Her icy demeanor intimidates some people, but maybe you find it charming?

Appearnace: Sandong is a woman of average height at about 5'5. She is beautiful with long straight black hair and icy blue eyes. Her skin is pale and clear. She is thicker with a fuller figure than her counterparts from other kingdoms.

The Merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom - Wei Duqiong (he/him)

Duqiong is a merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom who's come to the Xiatian Kingdom to boost his sales during the festival. He is 23-years-old and comes off as a bit shady. He's an effective business man able to charm even the hardest of buyers, but he's very private about his life, not enjoying small talk. You find him to be mysterious and intriguing, not really having met someone like him before. Maybe you'd like to take the time to get to know him better?

Appearance: Duqiong is a tall man standing at around 6'0. He is thin and lean. He appears to be from partial foreign descent. He has medium-length straight blonde hair pulled into a low ponytail and warm brown eyes. He has smooth light brown skin.

The Courtesan - Wu Nahou (she/her)

Nahou is a courtesan from one of the more popular courtesan houses in the city. Unlike her some of sisters, Nahou doesn't provide any physical services and just entertains at parties by playing music, dancing, and reciting poetry. She is 24-years-old and is pleasant and demure while working. Off the clock, she is more rowdy with strong opinions and a confident, self-assured attitude. Maybe you'd like to spend more time with her?

I would like to add a bit to the ‘bi as a stepping stone’ discussion.

We all know how Ricky Martin was sold at the end of 90’s/ early 00’s - his hypersexual videos with tuns of half naked women & occasionally making out with some of them. Idk in how many relationships he was with women (and if they were real or just for a bearding purpose) before he came out but according to wiki, it says:

“In March 2010, Martin publicly came out as gay via a message on his website, stating: "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."In an interview with Vanity Fair, he declared: "There was love, passion. So in my theory and based on the fact that I believe H doesn’t want to lie about important things (we all know how he denied Larry when asked about Sweet Creature), if he (and Louis) will want & be able to come out, he will make sure his PR team will work harder than the devil to come out with a bulletproof strategy to come out without using bi as a stepping stone. And also if he’s actually bi (like he’s not), imo he would come out already because he plays both straight and gay anyway so I don’t think it would be such a biggie if you get what I mean. But there’s a reason why he keeps it to himself and so I don’t think (and I really hope) he won’t come out as bi.

I agree with you. I think the idea that he's bisexual has been put out there by his team as a way to "explain" his lyrics/behavior/appearance etc. and keep playing all sides. But I don't think he's actually going to confirm he's bisexual. He's made it quite clear he doesn't think the public needs to know anything about his sexuality. What I would hope for him is the end of the PR relationships and the ability to stop pretending. If he ever wants to confirm or clarify, that's up to him.

I think with Ricky Martin, it's possible he was still discovering himself early on when he had relationships with women, but I don't know. He identifies as a gay man at this point, and he seems very happy. I believe Harry has known for a long time that he's not interested in women (in fact, the only time he's ever directly answered a question about his sexuality was to say he WASN'T bisexual, but everyone seems to ignore that now).

The Merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom - Wei Duqiong (he/him)

Duqiong is a merchant from the Qiutian Kingdom who's come to the Xiatian Kingdom to boost his sales during the festival. He is 23-years-old and comes off as a bit shady. He's an effective business man able to charm even the hardest of buyers, but he's very private about his life, not enjoying small talk. You find him to be mysterious and intriguing, not really having met someone like him before. Maybe you'd like to take the time to get to know him better?

Appearance: Duqiong is a tall man standing at around 6'0. He is thin and lean. He appears to be from partial foreign descent. He has medium-length straight blonde hair pulled into a low ponytail and warm brown eyes. He has smooth light brown skin.

The Courtesan - Wu Nahou (she/her)

Nahou is a courtesan from one of the more popular courtesan houses in the city. Unlike her some of sisters, Nahou doesn't provide any physical services and just entertains at parties by playing music, dancing, and reciting poetry. She is 24-years-old and is pleasant and demure while working. Off the clock, she is more rowdy with strong opinions and a confident, self-assured attitude. Maybe you'd like to spend more time with her?

Appearance: Nahou is a shorter woman at about 5'3. She is of partial foreign descent with wavy red hair and hazel eyes. Her skin is pale with freckles and she's considered to be very beautiful. Her frame is more slight and willowy than simply thin.

Did you see the bts vid where David said that Ncuti looks good in his pants??? (british definition) followed by "It's a good place to be" which felt like it had double meaning. I think you may have to start rethinking your "low key bisexual" tag. XD

I was honestly beginning to wonder if anyone even noticed that Ncuti was in his pants (underwear) the whole time, since it was never pointed out in the show, and, well...we can safely say that David definitely noticed. Jesus.

I mean, I'm not going to even argue about how this could be interpreted heterosexually, because no 100% straight man is going to say another man looks good in his underwear, and then follow it with "It's a good place to be." Just...bless David for not even bothering to hide it anymore, and the fact that he also said it while wearing his Crowley-esque sunglasses speaks volumes, in my opinion. ("Give a man a mask and he will tell you the truth," etc. etc.)

But you're right, I probably do need to rethink my #david is lowkey bi and michael is highkey bi tag, because our lovely David is certainly giving Michael a run for his money at this point. And thinking about David's video diary from last week and him joking about Michael being cast as 15, well...if this had been Michael, I don't think any of us would have survived. You people are fucking delusional! We knew y’all was gonna go there, because y’all have it in your heads that BT was some beautiful, spiritually intertwined pairing that came down from tv show gods to bless the struggling, underperforming series that is 9-1-1, but please give it a rest.

Buck and Eddie may never date, but Tommy was not some deeply fleshed out, fan favorite character. Oliver never even posted about the relationship, and Lou has an awful online track record, which randomly or not (idk) fit with who Tommy was in the past on the show. Not only that, but they never gave BT anything worthwhile. Y’all mourning a relationship that never grew. It was so poorly written, and existed purely because Tim wanted to make Buck bi finally, without doing any heavy lifting, and y’all devoured it, solely because it was Buck no longer being straight. That’s it, and it sucked.

So y’all can pretend Lou was harassed beyond belief in ways that are shocking or deplorable, but it’s a lie. Crazies online will always be crazies online, but stop acting like he got it worse than what has been happening in the fandom, unfortunately, and continues to happen to other members on the cast. Not to mention the way BT shippers have been talking about and to Buddie shippers as well. Neither side is innocent of toxicity, so don’t even try to kick up the “Buddies ruined a good thing!” When, no. Buddies have been the most consistent motherfuckers of any fandom ever. They have shipped Buck and Eddie based purely on CANON actions and dialogue, to the point of their theories being commented on by the cast and crew of their show for making sense. To the point where the showrunner decided that Buck being bisexual made sense, because if the shit HE HIMSELF WROTE in the earlier seasons. Based on the shit his successors wrote in the seasons he was gone.

Again, Buddie doesn’t have to go canon, but Buddie shippers have almost never based an argument on complete fallacy. Buck and Eddie are intertwined, so them happening would make just as much sense as Buck realizing he’s bi. It was written that way, and didn’t disrupt the flow of the show. What does, is trying to shove half-assed love interests into a series seven seasons deep, yet also choosing to do nothing with them. Buck and Tommy didn’t work because the writers didn’t put in the effort, which had nothing to do with Buddies. Not when the entire duration of the relationship, y’all have been saying BT is endgame and Buddies needed to move on.

You all claim to have seen something beautiful growing and knew without a doubt the writers were enjoying writing it, but now as soon as it’s over, your claim is it fell apart because other shippers who’ve been around longer and saw the rinse and repeat cycle for what it was, are wrong for pointing that out? Nah. We told y’all BT was shallow. We told y’all it felt like all of Buck’s other relationships outside of Taylor. The only thing that gave it a chance was Tommy being a man, and the possibility of the network and Tim deciding that was enough. Thankfully they didn’t, but again… give it a rest. Lou led y’all on, which was his job, but he wasn’t harassed out of a role. The character was retconned and flattened, and him being Buck’s endgame was only ever going to be forced.

Full text of David’s story:

When we did the werewolf episode - it was called Tooth & Claw - the werewolf was created in a computer by the geniuses at the Mill who were were our cgi experts, but it’s represented on set somehow or another usually, for an eye-line or for a reference for the people who then replace the image.  So we had a guy who had a bicycle helmet with a thing on the end to show where the head of the creature would be.  He was in a lycra bodysuit, and he would sort of… go around… [mimes werewolf movements] …which was fine and great and he did it extremely well, but it was very tight, this thing he was in.  

I hope he won’t mind me mentioning it, but a couple of days in, maybe not even a couple of days, somebody noticed that this left very little to the imagination, and this boy, was a boy!   I mean, it would have taken your eye out. Terribly impressive.  Awe inspiring.  It inspired awe! 

…and the trouble is, once you’ve noticed that, it’s quite hard to keep your eyeline on the tennis ball that’s coming out of the stick on top of his head, because the eye is being drawn for whatever your reasoning might be, whether its awe or envy or just the sheer record-breaking dimensions I don’t know if it crept up on a Doctor Who Confidential or anything but it’s worth checking out
