hello!! thank you so much for your ask ^^! so sorry for writing a lot

favourite thing: aside from the obvious 'it's cool that they made a game about a man who's functionally ftm transgender', my favourite thing is probably the environment. it's infamously not a game that feels complete, but there are lots of little things you can walk around and find. there's a single climbable tree in the game, a large frog hidden inside the prison; you can blow up the gas station or kick a hole in the prison bathroom. i like the delayed comedy of walking around, stopping at a piece of signage i can't read, and having to translate it to see what has been written right in front of my face. there's also a loudspeaker in the game that sometimes plays music unless you shoot it until it breaks, and pigeons which can shit on the street. and several more things i could list but this is long already. these are very insignificant things but i like realising that they're happening at all. it is not a game that no care went into. my favourite thing in the environment are the toxic bodies of water with aquatic plants

least favourite thing: this is very easy- some of the language and humour is upsetting. there are slurs in this game, and the overworld is also covered in memes which i cannot naturally understand the meaning of, but they seem very vulgar. because of the language barrier it's pretty impossible for me to tell the sociopolitical stance of the game or if it has one at all (e.g. whether it has genuine homophobic sentiment, or merely contains characters who are homophobic to an extent), and that can be worrying, but i don't believe in the idea of automatically endorsing or sharing the opinions of the media you engage with anyway. i like doing critical analysis ergo i have no problem upfront disagreeing with the stuff that made its way into this game, whatever it is

The problem with a lot of body horror for me is it's just gross without being compelling

Like yeah you had that person tear their leg open and pull muscle away from bone in a way that's very uncomfortable... but I don't care. Or a lot of Hostel style horror for me it's just kinda... yeah... grossing me out isn't some kinda win

Cause it's not that I don't like body horror, I love Dead Space for instance which... kinda the core pillar of that is body horror if we're honest

Could be a matter of that that kind of body horror is more fantastic making it easier to digest, I will advance that as a theory, but personally I kinda think that it's more that they do something actually interesting with it

Like if I wanted to I could probably see a really fucked up leg wound (and worse) in looking online about this shitty world

Can't really find dead bodies contorted into killing machines though

So I kinda feel like it's my problem with a lot of horror, of that it's horrible in a mundane way where as I'm looking for some unfathomable secret out of horror

So there's a difference between some stabbing a person in the eye cause they're just a shitty person, and doing it to try and create a replica of an alien artifact that gives unlimited energy but also drives people crazy and then turns their bodies into horrible monstrosities

One is just way more interesting to me

angry rant about something from good omens last episode =w=p

(disclaimer: i can be wrong and all of this is just my opinion. i am not a fucking film critic and i could have missed things. this wont be proofread i just need to spew my words. i know that this series is meant to be a bit goofy but that doesnt mean it has to be bad. i did overall enjoy watching this season and it for sure has its ups.)

first of all. amnesia redemption arc is dumb. ngl it was starting to work but in hindsight. :/ nothing gabriel did to anyone is addressed and we just have to accept that? since he got his memories back, nothing has actually changed, right? it feels like they want you to think that gabriel is just. a neutral force rn. but thats really not something that fucking makes sense.

then. fucking gabe x beel. gross. lame. boring way to resolve literal thousands years of rivalry. you mean these top leaders of actual hell and heaven had one lil get together and fell in love? completely leaving behind everything they rule over? i get that theyre probably both tired of their job etc, but they should at least have some respect. did they not want to stop another Armageddon? do they not understand how big of a task that is, and how they both need to handle this extremely carefully with their higher ups, if they want to continue.

anyway logical thoughts aside but 'ooh they fall in love and everything is okay' is such a fucking boring thing to happen. (this is coming from a very aro ace guy but.) there couldve at least been some foreshadowing. youre telling me their relationship changed from literally the WORST of enemies to lovers just because they sat in a bar and listened to a song together? you want me to believe their relationship only from the 3-date-montage we saw? thats it?? i know this is a show about demons and angels and whatnot but this really took me out of it. >:(

anyway im really mad about it but what can ya do.
