Changling Family Photos

The Stricklers. I'm honestly not entirely satisfied with how Xena turned out but...

The Scaarbachs. I made it part way threw the drawing and the characters realized that Eli and Toby were to tall so I had to put them on boxes. Also,my firs time time drawing Lenora pregnant!

The Nomura-The-Deadlies. I finnaly learned how to draw Draal! I actually really like this one. 

The Giladrigals. I've been wanting to draw Seamus with his new family for a while and this was the perfect opportunity. I'll probably do one of just him and Cordi some time in the future, too.

I’M SO SORRY IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET TO THIS

Er, this is more about my ocs in general, but basically, when it comes to me and ocs, the three traits I usually end up slapping on them are:

leg injury/prosthetic leg

ear notch

white fur (VERY fluffy)

I honestly have no idea why it’s always these three traits, but something about them just makes me go “yea, nice”

I think this phenomenon is best exemplified in my favourite oc, Skipper. Featured here in this sketchy sketch:

Like you’ve got the fluffy fur, and the leg injury, and the ear notch well, broken horn/”notched” sail in this case, but the components are basically there??

The Lamest Crossover in History

I’m watching season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow and I’m at the big “Invasion!” crossover with the other DC shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl). 

It’s soooo bad. 

I just keep swatting at the screen trying to shoo away Team Arrow and Team Flash. All of their whiney melodrama needs to stay away from my Legends. Cisco is grumpy at Barry. Barry suddenly forgot how to lead a team despite doing it for several years. Oliver hates Supergirl for some reason. Felicity is just... Felicity. 

The entire second episode they were stuck in a complex alien virtual reality that was nearly indistinguishable from the real world. 

And apparently the key to escaping it was just... walk through a green fart cloud. 

[Start Scene]

Zork and Blarg are two alien dominators in charge of programming the VR simulation that has captured our intrepid heroes.

“Hey, Zork. Do you think we should delete the code for this escape portal in our virtual reality prison?”

“Blarg, my friend, you worry too much. If they find the escape fart and return to reality, they’ll still be restrained in their pods.”

“The pods don’t have any restraints.”

“Well, the guards will stop them then.”

“Uhh...no guards. They can just roam freely on the ship.”

“Well, at least they won’t be armed.”

“What about that laser blaster that is just hanging unsecured on the wall for some reason?”

“I doubt they’ll figure out how to use that.”

“ZORK, YOU IDIOT! YOU SHOULD HAVE DELE... BLARRRG.”

“Are you saying your own name or are you dying?”

“BOOOOTH!”

[End Scene]

Also, I’m 90% sure they made the aliens talk telepathically because they could not afford to animate their mouths. 

That’s what she (telepathically) said!

Stargate had a much smaller budget and you know what they did? 

They made some goddamn puppets! 

And it was great. 

The only funny lines in this crossover disaster were from the Legends. 

Sarah was sarcastic as all heck. 

And there was the scene where Mick was unable to follow through on his sexism.

The Legends were supposed to be the runt of the litter. The show that almost everyone wrote off before it even aired. And then they wrote it off again because of a shaky first season. But now it continually outshines its Arrowverse predecessors. (Though Supergirl still has its moments.)

I am just constantly disappointed by Arrow and Flash. They had such great starts and then the showrunners and writers just kept lowering the bar. It’s not just that the shows have become so poor in quality. It’s more about them getting lazy. They create a huge problem to solve and build up suspense, but then they always choose the path of least resistance to solve that problem. 

“I know, I’ll just run EVEN FASTER!” --Flash “I know, I’ll just brood EVEN BROODIER.” --Arrow

I feel like they do what is comfortable and easy. They never take any big risks. It’s like they have the same 10 tropes and they just keep cycling through them. 

Arrow keeps “breaking up the team” every season. And “Olicity” keep breaking up every other show. 

They broke up three times in the same season!

And Flash keeps going into the hallway to have a very serious conversation every 8-10 minutes.  

Meanwhile, Legends of Tomorrow keeps breaking all the rules of TV drama. 

They have solid, non-toxic friendships based on communication and trust. 

They don’t hold grudges for 10 episodes to maintain drama. 

They don’t take themselves too seriously, but they still tackle emotional issues with a lot of heart and candor... and sometimes puppets. 

They take things like representation seriously, but none of their characters are defined by their race or orientation. 

They are having a blast and you can tell everyone involved is excited to create the best thing they can.

Yes, it is silly. And campy. And the time travel almost never makes any sense. But it doesn’t matter because they are self-aware about it. They lean into the plot holes and just give you a wink. It’s just... fun. 

Also, I think because they were on the brink of cancellation, they just stopped worrying about playing it safe. They turned up their ridiculous ideas to 11 and no longer gave a shit how the show may seem from outside observers. 

They were like, “You want to cancel us?? BRING IT!”
