I loved your Jay Potter headcanon so very much, my heart is filled with so much love for her! 🥺 If you’re upto it, I wonder what your headcanon for a Harry Potter who is figuring out his bisexuality would be. It’s not a groundbreaking headcanon for him, especially considering the fandom we’re in, but what do you think would be the path he’d take to embrace it? Before or after Hogwarts, in the muggle world or the wizarding world, with or without Ginny or Draco (who tend to be the usual suspects)?

This is a bit long, sorry, I went overboard 💜:

Bisexual Harry Potter

- First of all, I think most of Harry’s sexual and/or gender identity development, would happen fully after the war. He is a bloody victim of a massive war since he was a baby. So even if he would notice things, he wouldn’t have the spare time to explore it, in my humble opinion. 

- As always, Harry is surviving and running for his life and only starts fully living as a normal human being after the Battle of Hogwarts.

- But, Harry is not completely dense. He can, now that he is older, look back at him at 14yo and understand the utter thrill of talking to Cedric Diggory, gorgeous and lovely Cedric. The way he ended up feeling hot and bothered and completely flustered thinking about a bathtub and Cedric in the same sentence. 

- Then, when he is very honest with himself -- it doesn’t happen often, but it does sometimes, when he is drunk and alone and looking for inspiring images for a nice wank -- , he admits in the secrecy of his mind that the obsession with Malfoy wasn’t normal. Okay, he was right and Malfoy was up to something. But the level of anxiety, the constant need to see him, to know what he was doing, where he was going, when? with whom? for what? --- well, yes, maybe he was a little bit infatuated and very confused. (also, Malfoy’s hair is amazing).

- But all this acknowledging of previous interests happens after Ginny breaks up with him and tells him she is in love with a Quidditch player - Olivia Something (a Brazilian Quidditch player with brown-gingery hair who plays for a Canadian team), Harry can’t be bothered to remember her surname, though she looks great on a broom. He stares at Ginny, and she raises her brows “What?” she inquires, crossing her arms over her chest, “Don’t tell me you’re bigoted, Harry, I cannot live with the idea of you being a homophobe.” And he coughs. He isn’t a conservative homophobe, but he is very surprised. 

- You see, when people don’t have many references, it’s very confusing to come to terms with one’s identity. So Harry blurts out “Are you gay?” and Ginny rolles her eyes impatiently and replies “No, Harry, I like people, in general, no big deal, people can be great no matter their gender.” And Harry gapes at her. Because honestly, she can be blunt when she wants to in her on no-nonsense kind of way. So he nods, it’s not like they were good at dating each other anyways, it felt more like being friends with someone he loves to have sex with. 

- Harry is not the brightest, but he learns fast. So after this things starts unveiling itself in front of his eyes. 

- No, I don’t think Draco would be his big bisexual awakening, or first experience. No, I like to think it would be someone more sensual, someone more suave, someone who would see right through him, and watch in the bottle-green of his eyes the desire, the spark of curiosity, of possibility. Today, I like to think this person would be Blaise Zabini. 

- Yes, Zabini. Who wears muggle suits in posh ministerial parties, who has mommy issues, and such a nice, toned body. Yes, Blaise, with his dark chocolate skin, and deep black eyes, staring down at Harry in a pub and offering to buy him a drink. Yes, Blaise, the one who licks the seam of his wine glass and smiles provocatively, eyes focused on Harry’s lips. He is obvious, and Harry needs obvious. At least for the first time. Otherwise, it would be way too hard. 

- So he kisses Blaise Zabini, and then other things more explicit happens, inside of Blaise Zabini’s posh car - I’m thinking along the lines of an Audi R8 (I like the idea that Mrs. Zabini is dating, at the time, some high muggle politician and Blaise likes nice expensive things). So that’s a start. 

- But Blaise is just the initial open door for much more exploration. 

- Harry would probably explore more in the muggle world bc he hates the press and The Prophet Diary never leaves him alone in the Wizarding world. I like to think he would share his experiences with Ginny, over pints, and they would laugh it off and he would never feel judged by her.

- And I like to imagine Blaise would be the one to introduce Harry properly to Draco. And in my head Draco is gay to boot. So yeah. Endgame Drarry after a bit of bisexual exploration in the muggle world!
