this has been sitting in my wips for a year... don't look at me lmao. anyways more info about each leader under the cut

Juniperstar (Juniperbreeze, she/her)- the founder of PineClan, Juniperstar was once a ShadowClan warrior in the Lake Territories. After her sister Torrentstar died, Juniper was asked to step up as leader. She never wanted to be leader, but worked hard to build a Clan to be proud of. Her leader mark is a grey tail-tip.

Duskstar (Duskshadow, he/him)- Duskstar was one of the first kits born in the new territory, and was named for his previous Clan. Duskstar was a proud, stoic cat, with strong fighting skills. It was under his leadership that PineClan fought a war against GlenClan over the Sunstones. His leader mark was white spots on his flank.

Bumblestar (Bumblebee, he/him) - Bumblebee was a former kittypet, and one of the kindest cats the Clans have ever known. He was boisterous, understanding, and wise. His leader mark was stripes down his tail.

Mothstar (Mothpelt, they/them)- Mothstar, while kind and thoughtful like their grandfather Bumblestar, was also exceedingly lazy. They generally let the Clan run itself, spending most of their time in the leader's den or the nursery with their mate. Most duties that would've fallen to them were instead passed to their deputy, Snowcoat. Their leader mark was brown ears.

Snowstar (Snowcoat, she/her)- Snowstar was a quiet, authoritative, and very formidable cat. Given high authority at a young age, she believes that rank and power is everything and impressed this upon her descendants. Her leader mark was grey under her eyes.

Dovestar (Dovecurl, she/her)- Once Snowstar's apprentice, Dovestar was a sweet but spineless cat who was easily ordered around by others. Her purpose as deputy was to be the more charming face to Snowstar's iron paw, and as leader, she became listless and uncertain with no one to follow. She eventually retired after making Snowstar's grandson Vinetangle deputy. Her leader mark was brown spots on her face.

Vinestar (Vinetangle, he/him)- Told from birth that he was destined to lead his Clan, Vinestar was an aggressive, forboding cat. His ideas of his family's right to power came from Snowstar, and was passed to his own descendants. He was killed in a formal challenge by Blackreed. His leader mark is sharp spirals on his face.

Rosestar (Roseblossom, she/her)- A shy, unsure, but determined cat, Rosestar was chosen by StarClan to lead PineClan after Vinestar died. She is supported by her mate and deputy Hollyfrost, and does her best to lead her clanmates as StarClan wills. Her leader mark is white petal-shaped spots on her back.

Driftstar (Driftrunner, she/they)- A confident, playful cat, Driftstar was chosen to become deputy because she would fight for her clan like no other. Having had her vocal cords damaged from a severe neck wound when she was an apprentice, Driftstar has an extremely quiet and raspy voice. She communicates with signals, and her deputy speaks for her at gatherings. Her leader mark is a dark tail-tip.

how do each of the clans feel about outsiders and is it different for kittypets, loners, and rogues?

good question! i go into detail on this on the toyhou.se pages for each clan, but here's a rundown:

kittypets:

Glenclan is okay with accepting them into their ranks, as long as they prove themselves loyal to their Clanmates. Foxtuft and Hawktalon both have kittypet blood.

Pineclan, being the closest to twolegplace, is the most accepting to kittypets, though Vinestar tested this a bit with his strict loyalty values. Blackreed, Heronstalk, Thicketburr and Mistybush, Sunbelly and Curlear, and Jadewing started as or are descended from kittypets.

RiftClan will accept former kittypets or their descendants as long as they can prove their loyalty, though they can be less than accepting towards their Clanmates who seek out relationships with kittypets. Oceanroar and Whiskertail both have kittypet blood.

rogues: this goes for all three Clans, but the general definition i use for rogue is "cat(s) who are hostile towards or were banished from the clans." therefore, all three are very wary towards their like. Examples include banished cats like Tangleswirl, or rogue bands like Tempest. It is rare for a rogue to be brought into a Clan, but it does happen, like with Perry and Honeyglow.

loners:

GlenClan tends to be a little hesitant towards loners, generally harmless but still outsiders. They have a great relationship with the North Face band, where Jaystorm and Hawktalon originate from. They will accept loners into their ranks.

Loners hold immediate value to PineClan cats for the outside knowledge they can bring. They are seen as outsiders, but can easily trade information for other resources the Clan has. They will accept loners into their ranks, including Nitfeather.

RiftClan is wary of all outsiders, but will hesitantly accept a loner into their ranks if they need immediate aid or can prove their loyalty. A cat taking a loner as a mate can be harshly looked down upon, but if their mate were to join the Clan they would be peacefully recieved.

late night rosestar woot woot! wanted to mess with her colors and fur shapes a bit and i really like this :D i'm a little worried it's too pale but it's fine colors can be fixed later

also i've had this stupid funny idea rolling around in my brain and it's basically this:

Little Cinder is taken care of by his father Blackreed, and likes to chase butterflies and play with the other StarClan kits. He remembers his life as though it happened to someone else, and only returns to how he was before he died if he leaves StarClan’s borders. He has only done this three times: once to see Tangleflower in the Inbetween after she died, once to help Strikenose and Fleetfox escape the Dark Forest, and once to see Strikenose the night she became a warrior.

Hey! which charcters to want to redraw and why?

So, which of my characters do I want to redesign? Good question! Here's some of the cats I want to do redesigns on when I finish the new Clan sheets:

Flurryfeather: make her smaller, make her pelt more feathery, and change her herb, probably to rosemary

Tuftear: mostly I think I want to change her markings, I'm not great at designing torties and her design is really busy

Heronstalk: I have never been super satisfied with his design, but I think the one on the recolored Clan sheets I posted is pretty good

Quickwhisper: I want to give her some brown tones like she's a bit sun-bleached, and make her look slightly less like a carbon copy of Blackreed

Splinterfang: I want to change the way his fur hangs to make him look kinda wet and bedraggled, and I think I'll give his fur more of a grey tone. And maybe make his markings more burmese-esque like his sister and mom

Darkeyes: Idk.. her design just. it doesn't really fit how I envision her personality in my head? Not sure what I would change though. Maybe make her a little greyer, now that I have her siblings solidified as being Batswoop and Breezefeather, who are both black.

Pheasantruff: I completely redid his coloring on the recolored Clan sheet, and I'll probably change his face structure to look a lot more cocky to match his confident, slightly abrasive demeanor

I HAD AN IDEA SO I RAN WITH IT AND I LOVE IT

this lovely Hawkfrost clone is named Winterdusk! He was once a PineClan healer, formerly born a loner who was brought to the Clan along side his sister Summerpelt. Summerpelt fell in love with this one cat named Flamestripe, whom Winterdusk did not like at ALL, and when he received an omen of sparks burning holes in a snowdrift he took it to mean Flamestripe was planning to harm the leader Snowstar. Flamestripe was banished, and Summerpelt never forgave Winterdusk. He found out five moons later what the omen ACTUALLY meant when he left the territory to search for a specific herb one day and was promptly murdered by Flamestripe.

Realizing he let personal qualms get in the way of his duty to his Clan filled him with guilt, and Winterdusk decided to stay in the Inbetween as recompense.

His story is inspired by the song Peace by Shayfer James!

I'm not sure this is quite finished? But I can't think of anything else to do with it so here it is! *hands you a Blackflame*

I might rework how I depict the Dark Forest bc having it red and black is NOT easy for me to do illustrations of. Or maybe I just need to get better at more monochrome illustration.

this started as a warmup but I ended up REALLY liking the design, like a lot, so this is Nightberry! She was a PineClan healer, who was apprenticed under Winterdusk, and then finished her training under Ryebreeze of RiftClan when Winterdusk was killed. She was quiet and thoughtful. She took a mate and eventually had kits once her apprentice Ravenspeckle was old enough to take care of things himself, and is a great-great-grandparent of Rosestar and Ryeberry (probably, I'm still thinking on this bit). Her healer herb was mulberry, representing faith.

You posting the leader list, even if it’s just names, makes me want so much to know about them, ah! TELL ME THEIR STORIES!!!!! (if you want to, of course)

I don’t have stories for many of them yet, but i wish i did! I will give an overview of what i have tho 👀

GLENCLAN

- Sorrelstar was the founder of GlenClan! He was a former ThunderClan deputy in the Lake territories. he was sweet and kind, and watches over his Clan’s prosperity from StarClan.

- Dewstar was killed by their deputy Barkfang, because Barkfang wanted to become leader.

- Redstar was chosen by StarClan to be the next leader after healers Briskwater and Sandytail poisoned Barkfang with tampered traveling herbs on his way to the Starpool. He was albino, and would usually either come out at night or stay in the shade during the day so that his skin and eyes wouldn’t burn.

- Ashstar is the cat who accidentally started a war with RiftClan over rights to the Great River. Not long after becoming leader, the Clans were hit by a terrible winter that caused a long famine (think ThunderClan Great Hunger style). He refused to let RiftClan cats fish in the river so that his Clan would stay alive. Near the end of his life, he made Hickoryleap his deputy to try to stop the fighting.

- Hickorystar was only the leader for about a year because he had an immune disorder and his lives were spent trying to keep him alive after getting frequently sick. He made young Sandstripe his deputy in the hopes she would put things right with RiftClan. and she did. 

- Sandstar is the current leader of GlenClan! She’s cool!

PINECLAN

- Aspenstar, a former ShadowClan warrior, was the founder of PineClan. She was the first of the original leaders to die, being the eldest, and having lost lives trying to keep her position when her nephew Crowmask led a coup against her (more info on him here!). 

-  Bumblestar was a former kittypet and a super sweet guy and I’m just putting this here because I love his name and his leader mark is bee stripes on his tail. precious :D.

-  Vinestar is the father of Shimmertail and Ruepetal, and a bad bitch to boot. He and his mate Sunbelly were an absolute power couple, and when she died during a border skirmish with GlenClan, he vowed to wipe them out entirely. His deputy Blackreed, as well as many others, stood against him in a rebellion. He attacked Blackreed, and they killed each other in the ensuing fight.

- Rosestar was chosen by StarClan after the deaths of Vinestar and Blackreed to be the current PineClan leader. She often feels like her mate and deputy Hollyfrost should have been chosen instead, but despite these feelings, she is a good, kind leader.

RIFTCLAN

- Shardstar, formerly Shard of White Stone, was the founder of RiftClan. He and his band of Tribe cats were sent by the Stoneteller to help the Clans after she was given an omen by the Tribe of Endless Hunting. While on the journey with them, he began to feel at home with Clan customs. But in order to keep his Clan alive, he and his other Tribemates taught the Clan cats and loners who had joined them how to survive on the mountainside, dividing them up into specialties. 

- Quietstar was the leader during a famine that killed off a good portion of RiftClan. When she was denied aide by the other Clans, she went on a rampage, conquering swathes of territory from each Clan. When she was confronted during a gathering, she started a huge fight, resulting in the death of her mate. When she saw this, she took a life from the GlenClan leader Stagstar, and was promptly struck by lightning, which burned away all of her lives at once. She stayed in the Dark Forest for a long time, taking care of Twilightpaw, until they both got out during a whole Thing™ and joined StarClan.

- Rubblestar was missing one of her back legs since birth, and she was cool.

- Screestar is the current RiftClan leader! When he was an apprentice, he was caught in a rockslide with his mentor, Burrpelt. Burrpelt died, and when Screestar was dragged from the rubble by PineClan cats, his front paw and part of his brain was permanenty damaged. his paw is pretty much unusable, and he suffers from tremors and memory loss. But he learned to live with his disability, and eventually became a proud and noble leader!

So Cindershock “[helped] Strikenose and Fleetfox escape the Dark Forest...” 👀 tell me more tell me more

SO! First off, when Cindershock died, he decided to sacrifice his memories and become a StarClan kit. He hangs out with Blackreed all day, and it’s great! He only returns to the way he was before when he leaves StarClan’s borders, and eventually, when he no longer remember the things he did, he will stay a kit until he’s reincarnated.

When Tangleflower died, she decided to join the Dark Forest to be with her grandfather Vinestar, the cat she had always wanted to live up to. What happened when Cindershock visited her in the Inbetween after her death was a messy divorce, to say the least.

When Strikenose was an apprentice, she awoke one night to find herself in a black forest lit by a red moon. In front of her was a cat who looked like her, but was taller, sleeker, and darker, with black eyes. When this cat said she was Strikenose’s mother, she was shocked, having been raised to think that Quickwhisper and Cloverlight were her parents. (don’t worry, Strikenose stays really close to them and sees them as her true family, despite feeling a little bitter about being lied to her whole life)

Tangleflower trained Strikenose in the Dark Forest for moons, hoping that she could be taught to become a rutheless, powerful leader and become what Tangleflower should have been. But Strikenose started to lose faith, and after being brought to meet the other cats of the Dark Forest, desperately began attempts to escape. To prove her loyalty, Tangleflower drew Fleetfox into the Dark Forest and tried to force Strikenose to kill her. It was then that Cindershock and Blackreed burst in, drawing off Tangleflower and getting Strikenose and Fleetfox away to the Inbetween. When they woke up, the two began pursuing a tentative relationship. 

Tangleflower came back to visit Strikenose a few more time throughout her life, but the bond had been broken and she could never get her to return to the Dark Forest.

Strikenose’s whole story pretty much plays out like the song Dear Wormwood by the Oh Hellos, which was a big inspiration for her character. Listen to that or look up the lyrics if you’ve never heard it before, it’s a really good song!

The queens!! All of them got a glow-up, especially Nitfeather because my g o d her old design was so bad. It looked terrible. Looks better now tho. 

Aaaanyways we have:

- Shimmertail, the oldest queen who is kinda petty and self-centered (until the whole thing with Sheen, after that she kinda wisens up and figures herself out for the sake of Galerush and Driftrunner)

- Nitfeather, a former loner and one of the forerunners of the resistance against Vinestar, she was the mate of Blackreed and is the mother of Quickwhisper and Cindershock. She despises Shimmertail for a lot of reasons, which sometimes causes a bit of drama in the nursery.

- Bouncefoot, the beloved nursery tom! He’s very soft-spoken and reserved, much like his sister Fawnstreak. His mate Mistybush got sick and died not long after their kits Fleetkit, Tumblekit, and Littlekit were born, and he took care of them until they became apprentices. He was expected to return to warrior duties, but instead stayed in the nursery as he found it much more enjoyable to take care of kits and help out the queens. He acts as a father figure for kits who don’t have one. 

- Quickwhisper, a young warrior and the youngest of the queens. Her mate is Cloverlight, and their first kit was Swiftsky. She would have returned to warrior duties after he became an apprentice, but her first kitting was hard and left her with a longer recovery period than usual. Then her niece Strikekit was born, and Tangleflower left the nursery almost immediately.. and someone had to take care of her. She tries to stay out of the drama between the two older queens, but secretly she really dislikes Shimmertail as well and tries to offer support for her mother during their more heated spats. She’s a diehard supporter of Rosestar and Hollyfrost.
