Blackpink has a large fandom but streaming has never been their strong suit. They've always depended on payola and ads and exposure. They've wielded the same tools now for the solo careers and that's working out pretty well for them for the most part. Meanwhile BTS have always relied on armys to carry them outside their English hits. So come solo era, apart from JK who totally embraced the English hits + massive payola combo scooter special, the other members are still playing by their 2018 playbook which doesn't work for 5 out of 7 members because you either need to have a strong solo fanbase like Jimin or actually command armys main focus like Jungkook and Jimin again to a smaller extent outside of his rabid antis and shippers.

I know we lament Jimin's situation and yes it sucks that he's being suppressed by his label who's supposed to promote him because we know they're wasting his huge potential and yes it sucks that he's targeted by people in his own fandom but I'm at least thankful that we have pjms and Jimin biased who are working for him and we have Jimin himself whose music we actually enjoy and are excited for. That even though the parasocial element exists, most of us are still 70% here for his music and not for his ships or looks (as lovely as they are). Imagine solo stanning Tae or Yoongi during this era. What an awful experience with no pay off either in terms of music or success.

Don’t get me wrong. It is disgusting that people make tweets and shit saying that JK is getting fucked by Scooter and BangPD. Those tweets saying that should be reported but where is this outrage when Tkkers, JJKs and KTHs (hell any solo fandom of BTS), says/where saying that Jimin gets fucked daily by BangPd for nothing? Everyday Armys prove to me that I made the right decision no being an Army anymore and only focusing on BTS when needed. I slow started becoming uninterested in Kpop music as a whole because Kpop songs just don’t really HIT to me anymore. Every damn day Jimin gets so many comments like this for the smallest things but those little 7s never move for him. I knew more than likely Jimin would stay with Hybe and stay with BTS because I know he loves his members, but it sucks see Jimin love Armys so much but they barely move a muscle to defend him. Armys are so quick to get pissed at a Blink or a BlackPink solo Stan saying something bad about Jimin but when other “Armys” or other member solo Stan’s say something, it’s only PJMs and Jikookers who defend him. Yet it’s also PJMs and Jikookers (especially PJMs) who get made out as villains for pointing out how Armys don’t care for Jimin and are closeted Tkkers. It’s only PJMs and Jikookers who get painted as villains even when trying to defend Jimin.

For example, that Tkker on twitter post a comment that said “real love” and it was a video of Jk pushing Jimin away or something like that. An “Army” then replied to a Jkkers or Jimin solo Stan’s (I can’t remember which one) who replied back with a video of Jk pushing Tae away. Then, all of the sudden it became all shipper issue instead of telling that Tkker to stop doing shit like that.

I feel like Armys, KTHs and JJKs don’t understand that the issue Tkkers not Taekook, not Yoomin or any ship involving Jm or JK. The issue is the shippers themselves. If Tkkers stop talking shit on Jimin and Jikook’s relationship then Jikookers would leave Taekook relationship alone and PJMs would leave Jk alone. Yeah, re-charting old songs is something more than a few fandoms do from time to time, but ARMYs’ aim of re-charting several old songs, sometimes whole albums, at once and methodically - that’s something I don’t think has been done before. And yes it warms my heart to see the fandom give BTS this. Even though it’s more of symbolic gesture than ‘huge achievement’, it’s a tangible way the fandom can express that we intend to stick by BTS this entire time. Life might happen, we might explore other groups and hobbies or take some time to ourselves, but we’ll never really abandon BTS or forget them while they’re in service. It also allows the fandom the opportunity to re-experience BTS’s old music. It’s reminding me of why I fell in love with them in the beginning.

And you’re right. The fandom does need a goal to work towards. One of the first things I said on this blog that I remember people got mad at me for (lol), was that I think many ARMYs are just Type A k-pop stans who prioritize BTS. A lot of us do well with targets and performance measures, using information and ingenuity to achieve desired goals for someone we love genuinely gets us going. When the fandom is aimless people go crazy. So yeah, keep ARMYs busy and peace will be reasonably attainable.

It seems HYBE intends to keep milking the fandom too - more documentaries are coming, at least four members will release new music over the next 1.5 years, we might get a Jin tour/showcase or Hobi live performances, etc. So I guess we’ve got nothing to worry about on that front.

I’m not too sure myself what to expect between now and 2025. Last week I talked about what usually happens when a group enlists based on what I’ve observed:

1. Some people take a break away from k-pop fully.

2. Some explore other groups, whether or not they end up stanning as well.

3. Some people stay in k-pop and remain only committed to BTS

All three options are valid and sometimes there’s no real difference between how people approach options 2 and 3.

But really, while the guys are in the military I don’t expect the infighting within the fandom to reduce. At best it’s going to remain this annoying for the next 18 months. I know people are hopeful we get more spaced out releases but I’m actually expecting some stacked line-ups in releases next year. I’m also not expecting Seven/Golden-style promotions for any member that doesn’t release under HYBE America. The usual suspects (akgaes, shooters, antis, shippers) will be whining in any case so it’s going to be a pain.

And outside the fandom, I know the race is going to be mad. Right now ATEEZ, Stray Kids, NewJeans, RIIZE, Aespa, VCHA, Katseye, IVE, SHINee, Blackpink and few more… are revving up to take over in 2024. I’m so curious to see all the ways these groups/their companies will try to fill the BTS vacuum. How they will try to court ARMYs and pitch themselves as the rightful successors to BTS.

I’m not really sure what to expect but I know it’s going to be a fun time that’s for sure.

Jikook is real. We all know it. Even the cult knows it, which is why they get so insane when we see them together. I believe in them, I support them, and I hope they are each other's happy ever after.

You know what else? I believe in Taennie. I think there is more than adequate proof, if any such is needed, and I'm honestly very happy about it, and not because of its implications for ship wars. I want everyone to be happy and in a never-ending love story: Jimin, Jungkook, Taehyung and Jennie. All of them deserve it.

After all the bullshit that Jennie has been put through by the cult, the slut shaming and the denigration, I hope she gets the last laugh. I may really despise toxic Blinks, but I have nothing against (and rather like) the ladies in BP. Jennie is strong, and she's not going to take bullshit forever. She can defend herself if she wants and she doesn't need her man to do it for her. you know,,, i saw a video once that i think is interesting. a lot of the shippers especially those that ship a BTS member with some member of another girl group are born out of the idea of inserts. it is known ggs are marketed as “potential boyfriends” to fans while ggs are marketed as a self insert. you pick the girl that most fits what you wish to be - this is why they have very specific images. this is very evident with blackpink’s marketing. the reason there’s a huge group of shippers from that fandom with BTS is because their pick their favorite BP girl with the boy from BTS they’d like to date. It’s just that simple. And they obsessed over it because it’s a more reachable alternative than dreaming it could be you. It’s not a secret Tae and JK are the most popular members in a girls fantasy type of way. This is why Tae is shipped with every single one of them. There’s a portion that 100% believed in Jisoo x Tae. There’s also a big portion of lisk*ok shippers that think they have the “same aesthetic” or something just like there’s a huge portion that ship rose and jk are believe they’re a thing.

shippers will never go away because even if you seriously don’t believe it - it’s not about believing it or not but because it’s an insert. a fantasy. and the whole ta*nnie thing just made that side believe their fantasies were correct the whole time and pushed more theories.

3/4 of Blackpink have public romances, though Jisoo's is the only one confirmed by the company officially. However, there are lots of photos with Lisa and the Arnault (LVMH) son and Jennie with Taehyung. Also, Jennie dates as she likes, and it's never been a secret.

What do you think of this for a girl group? It's kind of badass.

It's badass because they are a proof that they can date and guess what? The earth is still spinning, their career is not in shambles, kpop is still k-popping or jopping and no one tries to off themselves when they hear the news, unlike some infamous shipper group.

I don't know details because I don't follow their lives or them as a group (I only listened to their music from time to time), but maybe in their case, the pressure was never that big to maintain the image of an eternal virgin? To me, it always seemed like the do what they want, they live their life as women and as celebrities as well, enjoying the fruits of their success. Or maybe my perception is wrong because I'm not involved in the fandom? The reactions to Jisoo were normal. In Lisa's case there's still an aura of intrigue because it's not official, but the girl was smart (those LVMH money? Good for her). And then there's Jennie with Tedros. Sorry, Tae. I hope it's all worth it because I don't think she got this much shit when she was with Kai.

And honestly I think jennie did her part when she posted those pictures where she was wearing that outfit during Paris walk and photos of that dinner where tae was.

So yeah I think she wants people to know. But its taehyung who's not doing anything about it. I must say he's a coward. Like you both have already been caught and seen, just fucking claim your girl. Jennie is getting slut shamed left and right by armies because obviously it's women who are hated for literally breathing. Nobody says anything to men. Even after she's receiving so much hate because of this, her bf still doesn't have guts enough to announce their relationship.

I remember when tae "accidentally" Followed jennie on insta and armies dragged the poor girl to hell. And then just after that tae said that insta is a scary place and acted like an innocent baby in front of fans as if he wasn't stalking jennie online. Like come on man.

But knowing tae, he's probably scared to announce it because he knows he'll lose his fans. All his fans are either shippers, or a bunch of y/ns. None of his fans actually like his music. It's all about his looks, insta followers, YouTube views or whatever. He knows the moment he announces the relationship he'll lose his fans. Until it's not official, fans can delude themselves into thinking that they were cosplayers or it was a pr stunt. But it's difficult to live in the delusion when taennie will be confirmed by the tae and jennie themselves.

And in the case of blackpink, if they announce their relationship their fans wouldn't have any problem because most of their fans are girls and the fanboys are usually soft hearted, they're very rare but they won't go on Twitter telling others to stay away from their oppa lol.

Jisoos' bf is an actor I don't think male actor's fans are delusional because they're used to seeing them with other women and actors doesn't market themselves as approachable for fans.

Whereas male idols' whole persona is manufactured to service fans. Makes them seem approachable. And make the idols available to fans so much so that fans will star to think that they actually have a chance with their idols.

That's why kpop bg teenage fangirls are so creepy and obsessive. Because to them male idols are perfect and they are actually made to believe that they actually have a chance with them. That's why it's so hard for them to see their idol with other girls. They literally act like their boyfriend cheated on them or something.

So yeah I think this reason also takes a lot of part in the whole taennie situation. But come on. Bts is far away from that phase. We all know they have had relationships and they have sex. Some decent armies are also starting to accept it. And taehyung is an adult ass man. He has enough guts to call fans out for being delusional but then he sees the reaction and backtracks and goes back to feeding them those delusions. It just shows that he's a coward.

There's no way he's gonna make it official anytime soon. Especially when his album is coming.
