For 2018, I promised myself that I'd face another fear. Through support from friends and family, I'm facing my fear of swimming by not only taking classes but attaching a goal to it; I signed up for the New Jersey State triathlon. Yep, this July 2018, I want the title triathlete added to my sports resume. My ultimate goal is to complete a half Ironman. Perhaps this is the first step. Oh, did I mention that I just started my 50k trail ultra marathon training today? Yeeeaaahh... Nevertheless, I created a separate blog for this journey. Learning to swim is one of three 2018 goals. I’ve always loved the water. I’m almost 40 and I refuse to leave this earth not knowing how to swim. “You’re Jamaican and you can’t swim?” 🤦🏾‍♀️ That ends this year. ✊🏾 As I get older I seem to be less coordinated. So it was hard focusing on breathing, kicking my feet, moving my hand through the water, floating, but I’m trying and I won’t quit. #Confession Today was the first day I swam in probably close to a year. When issues with my back escalated I felt like there was no way I could or should be swimming. Negative head chatter meant to shut me down. That turned out to be a lie. After #wateraerobics I swam. I swam like I was saving Chase. Lol!
