I really struggled with the aspect of posting/reposting images that do not illustrate a realistic perspective of myself, both physically and mentally. But it was important to document my journey with photography, and utilizing myself as the main subject played a huge part in my development as a photographer.

It's been years since I've looked at all the self-portraits I took when I first moved to Portland (or any of them, really). They were stored away for so long; so I had no real reason to peruse, rework, or re-edit any of them.

It was only when my husband and I started condensing and pooling a combined 20+ years of photographs and videos that I was able to restore many of them and introduce them here. Crazy, still, to see how personally impactful many of these captures are, how I'm so easily transported.

I've changed so much since these photos were taken - all for the better. But I'll always be amazed at how time so effortlessly mends and alters; illuminates and darkens. Most importantly, it makes me appreciate the now more so than I ever have in my 34 years on this Earth.
