I thought she was quite lovely, especially her front left leg colour split. What's going on here, is she a calico tabby? More pics in the listing here. Thanks!

She's a pretty little black tortoiseshell spotted tabby with white. Since usually calico is a short word for 'tortoiseshell with (any amount of) white', yes, calico tabby is a valid description 😸

Hi, I don't have any pics, but maybe you can identify from a description? What would be the colour name of a cat that has white underbelly and paws, and patches of grey-black/grey-dark grey stripes (like a tabby) and patches of red? I think it's some kind of tricolor tabby? But I'm not sure, since there were no black patches like on regular tricolors.

It's likely that what you're describing is a blue (dilute) mackerel tortoiseshell tabby with white.

You may also be describing a black mackerel tortoiseshell tabby with white, simply with low rufousing and contrast, making the black sections appear grey.

Other possibilities are a black based pointed cat or black silver, which can sometimes look dilute, but those are a lot more rare.

All these options could be called "tricolour tabby", because they all have three colours (black/blue, red/cream, and white) as well as a tabby pattern (mackerel means stripes, which I assume is what you mean by your description, however there are other tabby patterns).

Sphinx: Sage, named for her green eyes. Atem loves dressing her in silly sweaters and clothes for warmth.

Large white cat with silver flat face: Zahra, the first of the cat gang, adopted by Kaiba after the Ceremonial Duel. He's jealous his cat now loves Atem more.

Black cat attacking shoelace: Shadow, Kiki's littermate and the spiciest of all the cats.

Blind calico: Rosemary, Atem's special girl. She was the first cat Atem himself rescued.

Tuxedo Cat: Jinx. Shadow and Kiki's littermate and very silly. Only has two braincells most of the time.

And a bonus Duchess! Kaiba's rescue Welsh Corgi and spoiled to no end. She thinks quite highly of herself. Kaiba almost named her Honey for her fur.

Everyone on Discord is offline, we don't have any AO3 comments we haven't already responded to, and we can't think of how to word this scene, so you get to hear us talk for the next little while. Did you know that sometimes kittens will decide that they HATE the little bulb syringe thing you use to feed them and you have to feed them while they're trying to chew the shit out of it and they won't even swallow if you syringe formula into their mouths because they are so focused on Chewing The Syringe? Taxidermy baby, who is on watch because we are at least 50% sure his lack of energy is linked to some sort of sickness that we can't pinpoint, is currently being remarkably bad at eating, and we can't even bring him to the vet about it because he just came from there and he's too small for everything.

What's your genetic HCs for Firestar's family? (Nutmeg+Jake, Firestar+Sandstorm, Leafpool+Squirrelflight, Leafpool's kits and maybe Princess and her kits too? i have no clue about anything that happened past OOTS haha but if you have any HC's for those too I'd love to hear :3)

Dealing with this family, my starting point was to keep Fireheart orange. It seemed important. I gave him ticked pattern, to be as orange as possible.

This means Nutmeg, Squirrelflight and Leafpool all have that very same orange allele Fireheart carries. No problem with Squirrelflight, but Nutmeg and Leafpool are supposed to be brown tabbies. Solution: they are torties now! (There's another Nutmeg, a tortoiseshell-and-white rogue in the books, and as far as I remember, there's nothing else but the color suggesting that they are in fact different Nutmegs. So this way they can be combined into one single tortoiseshell-tabby-and-white Nutmeg.)

So now we have a red Squirrelflight and a tortie Leafpool. What does that say about Sandstorm? She gave a red allele to Squirrelflight and a black one to Leafpool. Ergo, tortie. (Actually I really like dilute tortie Sandstorm. It seems fitting to the name.) And Leafpool has white spotting that had to come from somewhere, so let's give that to Sandstorm too.

Tortie Leafpool has another big advantage: her kits all work out without any further changes. Red allele goes to Lionblaze, black to Jayfeather and Hollyleaf. Great.

Princess: if we want red Jake (and why wouldn't we) then she needs to be tortie too. I like this, because I've always assumed Leafpool was modelled after her, so keeping them the same color is nice. Her only "canon" kit is Cloudtail, who is full white (but in my head he's masking black silver tabby or maybe black smoke).

I have headcanons for the next generations too, but maybe it'd be too long to list all of them, so i'll only add Squirrelflight's kits for now: Alderheart is very correctly red, but Sparkpelt had to get the black allele from Brambleclaw, so she'll be tortie. (Again, I think it goes well with the name.)

Jake: red ticked tabby

Nutmeg, Princess, Leafpool: black tortoiseshell mackerel tabby with white

Fireheart, Squirrelflight, Alderheart: red (ticked)

Sandstorm: blue tortoiseshell spotted tabby with white
