Black Panther Party member Kathleen Cleaver on non-violence. [source]
Non-violence is a very non-functional approach in a society that's based entirely on organized force and violence. A country that was created in violence, land was taken in violence, a society that's perpetuating itself through violence in the ghettos, in Vietnam, in Africa. Wherever you look, there is organized force and violence at work to maintain this society. There is a world of difference between 20 million unarmed people, and 20 milion people organized and armed to the gills. That's Power.

The more I learn about the Civil Rights Movement [Post Malcolm, post MLK] in the late 60s through mid 80s the more shocking it is to me that we call it the 'Civil Rights Movement.'
Black Civil Rights Groups were in it for the Revolution. The BLA was robbing armored cars to finance a war. The Black Panthers were uniting the gangs and the New Left and preparing for something big. The Panthers were training and arming people across the country, all while practicing exactly what they preached by providing free food and healthcare to the people. The United States was assassinating, imprisoning, and crippling black communists. There were revolts in all the major cities.
We've had our first attempt at communist revolution and everybody [White People] pretends that it just didn't happen.
We were so close to waking up. Everyone on the ground saw that the people are capable of providing for themselves. We can provide our own healthcare, we can feed the hungry, we can end police oppression.
The Black Panthers showed us that we could. And they suffered for it. But hey, at least we're back to try again.

Our Breakfast for Children program is feeding a lot of children and the people understand our Breakfast for Children program.
We sayin’ something like this—we saying that theory’s cool, but theory with no practice ain’t shit. You got to have both of them—the two go together. We have a theory about feeding kids free. What’d we do? We put it into practice. That’s how people learn.
A lot of people don’t know how serious the thing is. They think the children we feed ain’t really hungry. I don’t know five year old kids that can act well, but I know that if they not hungry we sure got some actors.
We got five year old actors that could take the Academy Award. Last week they had a whole week dedicated to the hungry in Chicago. Talking ’bout the starvation rate here that went up 15%. Over here where everybody should be eating. Why? Because of capitalism.
What are we doing? The Breakfast for Children program.
We are running it in a socialistic manner. People came and took our program, saw it in a socialistic fashion not even knowing it was socialism.
People are gonna take our program and tell us to go on to a higher level. They gonna take that program and work it in a socialistic manner. What’d the pig say? He say, “Nigger—you like communism?” “No sir, I’m scared of it.” “You like socialism?” “No Sir, I’m scared of it.” “You like the breakfast for children program?” “Yes sir, I’d die for it”. Pig said, “Nigger, that program is a socialistic program.”
“I don’t give a fuck if it’s Communism. You put your hands on that program motherfucker and I’ll blow your motherfucking brains out.“
And he knew it. We been educating him, not by reading matter, but through observation and participation. By letting him come and work our program.
Not theory and theory alone, but theory and practice. The two go together. We not only thought about the Marxist-Leninist theory—we put it into practice.
This is what the Black Panther Party is about.

[Quote in image]: “Any theory you got, practice it. And when you practice it, you make some mistakes. When you make a mistake, you correct that theory … A lot of us read and read and read, but we don’t get any practice.” -Fred Hampton

August 22, 1989 - Huey P. Newton, revolutionary socialist and leader of the Black Panther Party, was assassinated on this day in 1989. The Black Panther Party rose to prominence in the 1960s and 70s for raising the revolutionary consciousness of the oppressed Black communities in the United States. Newton’s writings and leadership have left a permanent mark on the Black liberation movement and the socialist movement broadly. Newton elevated the Panthers to the role of internationalist revolutionary socialists who sought to fight US imperialism in order to liberate the most oppressed communities within the country. Newton, like many others in the Black liberation movement, was a target of the FBI’s COINTELPRO, which sought to sow division between revolutionary leaders and organizations. [link]

" If you start with Malcolm X and count all of the brothers who have died or been captured since, you will find that not even one of them was really prepared for a fight. No imagination or fighting style was evident in any one of the incidents. But each one that died professed to know the nature of our enemies. It should never be so easy for them. Do you understand what I'm saying? Edward V. Hanrahan, Illinois State Attorney General, sent fifteen pigs to raid the Panther headquarters and murder Hampton and Clark. Do you have any idea what would have happened to those fifteen pigs if they had run into as many Viet Cong as there were Panthers in that building. The VC are all little people with less general education than we have. The argument that they have been doing it longer has no validity at all, because they were doing it just as well when they started as they are now. It's very contradictory for a man to teach about the murder in corporate capitalism, to isolate and expose the murders behind it, to instruct that these madmen are completely without stops, are licentious, totally depraved — and then not make adequate preparations to defend himself from the madman's attack. Either they don't really believe their own spiel or they harbor some sort of subconscious death wish."

Magha & Nodal influences in Black Panther
This is my continuation of my last post about Magha. I wanted to touch on Black Panther because it is a great example of Magha/ ketu themes in film/media.
Black Panther in general is very Magha/ Ketuvian coded with its deep connection to ancestors and heritage. The whole movie was about tradition vs modern (killmonger). Chadwick Baseman has Magha Asc & Saturn + Mula Mercury.
Tumblr media
The movie was very much Nodal as many of the actors/actresses had either ketu nakshatras, usually, playing the more traditional/ cultural characters or Rahu nakshatras, technological advanced and futuristic.
Michael b Jordan (killmonger) has both rahu & ketu influence. Magha asc but Ardra moon, causing internal conflict between the past and future. This explains why his character killmonger had such and internal battle, acknowledginghis origins, ancestors, and title but also wanting to change tradition and rewrite it as his own. Also, whole reason why killmonger wanted to be king was to take back what he thought was his, exacting revenge on his father for abandoned him, separating from his true roots and family. Magha/ ketu is associated with karma especially from ancestors & lineage.

Unsurprisingly, the director of black panther has swati asc. We can see this at how futuristic and ahead of time Wakanda was from the rest of the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Letitia Wright (Shuri) has Swati Sun she was the sibling with knowledge of all the technology in Wakanda and the inventor. Chadwick (black panther) followed the tradition going through the trials to secure the throne his place as the king. The second movie is more Rahuvian. With Shuri being the lead, there is a pull between Wakanda sharing their knowledge & technology or keeping it hidden in fear of it being used for evil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The diety of Magha is Pitris, the ansestoral spirits that guide and protect the descendants. Need I say more?
Tumblr media
That’s is for now, thank you 💜
