was thinking about the universal experience of being mildly inconvenienced because one of your pokemon has a very different sleep schedule compared you... Because Kyu refuses to leave me alone right now so I can't sleep because, like most Ghost Types, he's nocturnal but is especially needy...

Anyway, the actual point of this post has absolutely fucking nothing to do with that.

Hey so, need some advice here-

What happened to my Scyther? Winnie was looking at my shiny rock collection and now she? Looks like this? What do I do?

That's a Kleavor, you have a rock-type in your hands! Certain Scyther can evolve into Kleavor when exposed to certain old Sinnohan minerals (Black Augurite in particular,); but it's not... super well researched. It's suspected that the ones with Hisuian genes can be particularly receptive to the mineral, so it's probable that Winnie won the genetic lottery and neither of you knew until this moment.

A few tips- Kleavors ain't as agile as Scyther, but they're still very active and can be quite aggressive! She might feel a bit confused and uncomfortable after losing her flight; so try to remain calm and engage with her in stuff you know she might enjoy! She also might... chop down a few pieces of furniture until she settles down, so i'd recommend outdoor housing for her for a while.

🦋: What talent does (S/I) have that awes you?

Honestly, it's how many skills she's picked up while she was in Hisui. Since technology was limited back then, she had to make do. So, she just started...making things and learning new skills. Woodcarving, blacksmithing, crafting, knitting, even engineering! She's always been very good with her hands, but once she was back and I got used to how things changed, I just started...staring at her in awe at all the things she could make with her hands. I'm pretty okay myself. I can weave things and such, but finer details like carving are a little tricky for me, so I can't help but admire her for that.

Someone's already asked me this, but I'll pick another one since you're so curious.

Hmmm...well, there was that one time we visited Alola so that we could meet Guzma. Unfortunately, trouble still managed to follow us there even though it was supposed to be a vacation, but then we had to deal with a surprise alien invasion and the woman responsible - who turned out to be Rachel's distant cousin or something, so that was a surprise - decided to go into an Ultra Wormhole. Guzma followed after her and almost got eaten by a Nihilego and Clue wasn't going to just leave him in there, even though he was super pissed at Guzma for working with Lusamine.

But Rachel ran in there without even hesitating, pulled out the knife she got made from Black Augurite from one of the nobles in Hisui as a gift and then stabbed it so that it would let go of him! I mean, she ran in there and shredded it so that she could save him even if she was angry at him, too.

Definitely one of the coolest things she's done...but, it's also one of my favourite qualities about her. She'll still help people even if she's mad at them...I've come to really admire that about her.

🔵: If you were face painting and (S/I) asked you to just give them anything, what would you paint?

Teehee! I wouldn't have thought of face painting before, but I'll have to try that sometime! Seems like the kind of thing she would like and it's just another excuse for me to admire her pretty face. I know that she felt really insecure about all the scars she got after coming back from Hisui, but it just...made me realize in that moment how much the people there with her cared about her that they made sure she survived. That they made sure she could come back to us...

Whoops! So-o-orry! Got a little distracted, there! Anyways, if she asked me to give her anything, I think I would paint little stars and constellations on her face. Maybe even figure out a way to make the big scar across her face look like an aurora. Sort of my way of showing her what I see when I look at her - in a sort of poetic symbolic way. She loves that kind of thing.

People are becoming rather cavalier about restoring ancient Pokemon lately, it seems...

For the most part, that's fine. Even I am thrilled to see Pokemon from the ancient past returned to the world. And as long as no breeding pairs are released into the wild, they shouldn't cause any ecosystem damage, and I can't imagine any such Pokemon would be released.

However, I do think it is irresponsible for certain Pokemon to be restored, through lost evolution methods or through fossil restoration- Namely, Pokemon which we do not know the reason they went extinct in the first place.

Amaura, for example- Its quality of life in the current climate is questionable at best, and I would call it unethical to restore one now. However, even beyond that, it is known they went extinct before the climate warmed up enough to be a threat to them, and it is not known why. It may have been the introduction of a predator into its ecosystem (it is assumed to have had no natural predators due to all known discovered fossils not bearing any sign of having been eaten), or a pathogen. If it was a pathogen, a virus, restoring it could bring back those illnesses as well... Or it may simply have no resistance to modern diseases and bacteria.

Kleavor has recently been determined to be able to be evolved in the current era, with the (very) recent discovery of Black Augurite. Kleavor is an example of a Pokemon that is acceptable to restore, as long as it is not released into the wild- It was simply outcompeted, and as metal became more commonplace, Scizor's ability to capture prey far exceeded Kleavor. Unable to eat, evolution prioritized Scythers who were able to incorporate metal into their bodies, and Kleavor was lost to time.

I am aware that those who perform the restorations in the dedicated laboratories know the risks and would not intentionally revive a Pokemon that would risk reviving ancient pathogens along with it. However, I also know that laboratories such as that are always short on funding, and need to constantly show results to maintain their operations. The desperation for results risks terrible things...

Please do your research and consider carefully before you restore a Pokemon from a fossil.

(Note: This does not address the Galarian fossil 'researcher' who creates chimeras born to suffer and claims them to be ancient Pokemon. She claims science while committing atrocities against life itself. There is no punishment that can match the severity of her crimes.)

I won't be needing that chunk of Black Augurite you found anymore. You should probably sell it to a museum or something, I've heard the pay good money for it.

As for what I'm doing with this one... well, I'll be trying to see if there's been any thefts of Black Augurite recently before doing anything else, and if so, turning it in to the police (but not before evolving Snicker-Snack)

If not I guess I'll just keep it for now?

ok I, half asleep, opened it and there's a fucken tly big package outside. Nobody in sight.

very obvious, I had Kyu check for if there was, idk, anthrax or some shit in it (look, I've made a lot of enemies, ok?), And after it was clear, I fucking open it and what do I find?

a chunk of Black Augurite roughly the approximate height of Kyu (he goes from the sole of my foot to my knee).

What the actual fuck. Like, what the ACTUAL fuck? Who the hell went me this?

How the fuck did they get such a large amount of it and why did they send it to some random fucking trainer who was casually looking for some in my freetime?

I'm so confused. There was no return address or any info on who sent it
