What should you look out for when buying a BJJ suit?
BJJ emphasizes the importance of technique, skill, and strategy over physical strength and size. Techniques include but are not limited to lock, choke, and control techniques aimed at bringing the opponent down and preventing them from moving or defending themselves.
BJJ is typically practiced in a gi (a suit that includes a jacket and pants), allowing the wearer better grip and control over the opponent. It is also used in many mixed martial arts (MMA) fights, allowing the fighter to take the fight to the ground and gain an advantage.
In addition to being an effective martial art, BJJ is an excellent form of physical fitness and a way to develop confidence, discipline, and respect. It is also a competitive sport that operates internationally, with tournaments such as the World Championships of Jiu-Jitsu held every year.
How to choose kimonos?
The difference in the various jiu jitsu gi kimonos lies in the details, more precisely in the weave types and fabric types. The higher the GSM, the heavier and more robust the Gi suit.
There are the following types of weave:
Single Weave: jiu jitsu gi for women is a woven fabric. The advantage is that it is relatively light and thin, which is particularly advantageous in warm temperatures.
Pearl Weave: Pearl Weave is the most commonly used fabric for BJJ Gis today. The Pearl Weave Gi is the lightest BJJ Gi approved for competition, but it is also very robust and durable. The Pearl Weave fabric can be recognized by its tight weave, making the fabric like small beads or bumps appear.
Rip-Stop: This fabric has grown in popularity and is typically used for Gi pants. Originally only a weave for pants, a jacket variant made of ripstop was recently developed. The square grid pattern can recognize the ripstop fabric.
Buy a Jiu-Jitsu belt.
The belt symbolizes the respective "level of experience" of the BJJ athlete. For adults, there are 5 different colored BJJ belts. Beginners wear the white belt, followed by blue, violet, Brown, and the highest level, black.
The intermediate levels are rewarded with a white belt stripe with 4 white stripes. One is then ready for the next belt color. The exception is the black belt. Here, one can achieve up to 6 white stripes before receiving the black and red bjj belts.
What should you look out for when buying a BJJ suit?
It would help if you considered whether you would participate in competitions. If so, make sure that the BJJ Gi suit is IBJJF compliant and approved, otherwise, you may not be allowed to take part in specific competitions.
Be sure to pay attention to the size chart of the respective manufacturer. The sizes for men are often given in A sizes, starting with A1 as the smallest size, through A2 and A3 to A4. There are often short and long sizes for bjj gi where the sleeves and legs are correspondingly longer or shorter.
Last but not least, it should be mentioned that bjj gi kimonos shrink a little the first time they are washed. The shrinkage rate is +- 5%, please consider this when placing your order.

Jiu-Jitsu Gi: A Comprehensive Guide to the Uniform
You can pick bjj gi sale from many various shades. The quality varies widely across brands. Regardless of the manufacturer, though, the fact that you're donning a uniform like this to express your dedication to karate is more impressive than any particular garment's brand name. If you're looking for a more in-depth explanation of a Gi, stick to the final paragraph.
The Importance of Learning GI-Based Jiu-Jitsu
Some people would say jiu jitsu gi women's is too restrictive, while others might say the opposite. Both, though, come with their own set of challenges and complications. You would know how to take full advantage of the bjj gi brands if you were trained in Jiu-Jitsu and were required to wear one.
Tumblr media
In a match, it may be tough to grab your opponent if you're not wearing a kids bjj gi because of the restrictions on your mobility. Choosing your Gi is an excellent way to prepare for a training session or competition.
Things to Remember When Buying a Jiu-Jitsu Gi
As a rule, white is the only acceptable colour for Gis. As so, it has become a homage to the Gis's pioneering aesthetic. But that was before the 1970s when everything started to alter. White, blue, and black are just some of the hues and patterns from which to choose. These are the only permitted colours to wear when competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events.
Ensure you've checked out the best bjj gi sizing chart to find the right fit for your body type. The most prudent action for buying Gis is to consult a size chart to ensure that you accept the right size.
The A-1 works well for those between 5 feet, 1 inch and 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 105 and 145 pounds. If you weigh 145Ð180 pounds and are 5 feet 4Ð8 inches tall, the A-2 is best. A-3 fits 5'9" to 6' tall, 180Ð210 lb people. Use the womens bjj gi sizing chart when buying.
Furthermore, you have the option of picking from several jiu jitsu gi brands. They have basic weaves and more complex ones like the double and the pearl. Compared to the double weave, which has bulkier characteristics, the single weave is noticeably more delicate. However, the Pearl weave falls amid the single and double weaves.
What Makes Up A Jiu-Jitsu Gi?
The three main pieces of the best jiu jitsu gi uniform wear to classes are the jacket, the pants with elastic waistbands, and the belt. The jacket is usually moderately padded, despite popular belief. These drawstring pants have some slack and are a little short. Because of how it's made, you can move freely without worrying that you'll take a bad step.
There are five levels of BJJ belts for adults: white, blue, brown, purple, and the ultimate black belt. kids jiu jitsu belts serve to signify one's level of proficiency and expertise. A white belt indicates that one is a BJJ novice. Someone who has achieved prominence in their field and is wearing a black belt has earned that distinction.
Conclusion
Choosing a BJJ Gi is no easy task, but certain crucial factors must be considered. Always use a bjj gi size chart to ensure you get the best fit possible. If you're serious about learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, your uniform might be a great first training partner.

Sirona had texted her about Jair. Told her about the kid who wanted to meet her. Something to do with BJJ? Something to do with meeting up at the gym? Well that day has finally arrived. Jair finds the building without overmuch difficulty, and walks in wearing his usual fare- the camo jacket, the comfy old work boots, the dingy shirt... But instead of jeans, sweat pants. Baggy, ugly things, but easier to move in than denim. He knows roughly who he's looking for and scans the first room for faces
There's a class in session, the room a sea of black and white and blue gis. And one orange one, worn by a woman with short curly hair held back by a headband, currently holding a much larger man in a headlock. She's straining, but has a wide smile on her face, and the partners around them are giving her plenty of space. The faint smell of Uratha permeates the place, below the normal smell of old sweat.Jair watch?

How to care, choose, size and the rules around your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) Gi (kimono) for competitions and training!
Tumblr media
Why buy a BJJ Gi?
If you do not have a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Gi, you may be confused as to why you would ever even need one? There are two styles of BJJ – training in Gi (kimono) and training with no-Gi. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an elite sports, known for its incredible takedowns, joint manipulations, and ground grappling technique, all of which require a highly durable Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi if that’s the style you’re training. The BJJ kimono or Gi, is the form of dress worn in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is an adaptation of the Keikogi (Ji Gu Zhao) used in contemporary Japanese martial arts. These uniforms may be worn in BJJ classes, during training, practicing moves, free sparing and in a tournament. A BJJ uniform has drawstring and usually ripstop pants, a Gi jacket with a long sleeve and a belt to show a practitioner’s rank. Anyone in the dojo knows how long each practitioner has been training approximately for based on their colour belt. It takes on average 10-12 years to get your BJJ blackbelt sometimes sooner. The belt ranks are white, blue, purple, brown and then black. Most belt ranks, a practitioner will be on it for approximately 2 years and but they’re usually on their brown belt for about a year.
Before diving into the specifics of BJJ Gi’s and differences amongst them, first let’s take a look at what is required to fit properly in Jiu Jitsu Gi’s. Whether you are completely a beginner to jiu-jitsu, have only dipped your toes in the world of Gi Jiu-Jitsu causally, or are an experienced practitioner looking for the best BJJ Gi for your needs, it is easy to get overwhelmed with the sheer number of Gi’s available on the market.
We will also discuss how to choose a quality Gi (kimono), how to easily keep your Gi clean and sterile.
But firstly, where do you buy your first Gi?
Your best bet if you’re in Perth, is to purchase a BJJ Gi from MMA Fight Store in Malaga as they provide a great collection of jiu-jitsu Gi’s that are great quality. BJJ is one of those martial arts where it is essential to own the best jiu-jitsu Gi that you can afford. Whether you are a casual BJJ practitioner, a beginner or a competitive one, you cannot go wrong with the best BJJ Gi choices.
Alternatively, you can purchase Gi’s online from reputable manufacturers.
It’s worth checking Facebook marketplace for Gi’s that have hardly been worn and some are in amazing condition are you can find them to be great condition and a good quality. Just make sure you sterilise them with a good disinfectant, which can be found in your local supermarket.
BJJ Gi’s boast of brands like Tatami Fightwear, GR1PS, Venum, Fuji Gi and Manto, and an expansive array of uniform designs and colours, with plenty of choices, you are bound to find the Brazilian Jiu jitsu Gi to suit you.
How do I size up my Gi?
With sizing a jiu-jitsu elite sports Gi, you are working on the dimensions using some combination of a person’s height and weight, which should get you the best fit for that individual’s body type. The sizing schedule is a general guide and we encourage practitioners to try their BJJ Gi’s on before deciding what size you’re going to choose. Especially if you have a body shape that isn’t consistent with your general size.

What are the types of Gi’s available on the market
Weaves
For your first Brazilian jiu-jitsu Gi, you should not be too concerned with what weave you have, especially if you are a beginner. You should check for a weave type that provides sufficient comfort while you train BJJ, being comfortable usually means using a lightweight Gi that allows easy mobility and a Gi that is the right size, or as close as possible. There is a bit of standardization with single weave, double weave, gold weave, pearl weave and cotton.
Single weaves dry fast, and you can wash these BJJ Gi’s often. Single weaves are used on basic entry level BJJ practitioners. It shrinks easily but it’s made from a good material. They are soft and a little looser than a pearl weave, which is a much tighter weave structure. Just because they are thinner, doesn’t mean they won’t last. Some single Gi weaves can last for several years.
Double weaves are double the thickness of a single weave, but they can be heavy. The firmness of the weave may cause the double weave to be abrasive on both opponent’s skin and wearers during training. Because this type of Gi top is thinner-woven than cotton, an opponent may grab it and manipulate it easier. They are popular for IBJJF tournaments as they can be difficult to grip due to the thickness and stiffness of the material. More recently, double weave gis, are light weight, with most weighing around 1.2-1.4 kilograms. In competition, athleates use a double weave Gi, and cut weight as much as possible to be in a lower weight bracket. It’s the most expensive weave, even more expensive than a gold weave.
The gold weave was the standard originally required by the Federation of International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation for competitions, (according to the IBJJF rules, IBJJF competition and any IBJJF tournament) though it has since been relaxed so as to allow different weaves of jackets. Gold weaves are the most sort out Gi’s as they are made from a strong material, they are a heavier Gi. They can be expensive which is why some people opt for pearl weave. The gold weave is durable and comfortable to train in. The thick material is harder to grip than a single or pearl weave. Gold weaves shrink quite a bit which is why most companies avoid stocking and selling gold weaves.
Pearl weaves are the most popular Gi’s because it’s cheaper to buy, it comes in different weights, hardly shrinks and is durable. Not all pearl weaves are the same. Some are soft others are stiff and rough due to the weave tightness. If a pearl Gi doesn’t fit you well, shrinking it is super difficult, so choosing another weave would be better.
Ripstop weave is mainly used for trousers, and some grappling shorts. They are incredibly lightweight but they have been banned by major tournaments (IBJJF). These types of Gi’s would only be used in training. Most companies don’t produce ripstop weaves.
If you want to remove all moisture quickly, then opt for 100% Cotton or Ripstop pants, with a lightweight material for your upper. Cotton weaves are flat, strong and heavy. The ribs are diagonal and are usually only used for pants. Cotton pants rip easily. Ripstop pants will be a better option.
Custom BJJ weaves usually fall into one of the weaves written above but they claim to be a custom weave. They perform identically but come with names like honeycomb, platinum, hyper, crystal and other various names.
Grams per square metre
This doesn’t refer to the actual weight of the material but rather the grams per square meter which determines the thickness. 350GSM is thinner and weighs less for a Pearl weave than 550 GSM which may also be a Peral weave. 350GSM is the lightest Gi a competitor can use in competition. 450 GSM is used on premium Gi’s and 55GM is used on heavyweight Premium gis.
Rashguard
We recommend all our students wear a rash guard (like a thin Lycra) underneath their BJJ uniform for protection from skin infections when grappling other students and when they’re training. Rashguards are not allowed to be worn in competitions for men if the competition is wearing your gi. Men can however wear a rashguard if it is a no-gi training style. Women and children are allowed to wear rashguards for all competition, whether the competition style is gi or no-gi.
No Pockets allowed
Pockets of any type are not permitted on a BJJ Gi. Most Gi’s are made without pockets anyway.
What colour Gi should you choose?
Gi’s with tops and pants in different Gi colours are not permitted; neither are Gis with a collar in a colour other than that of the rest of the top. The entire Gi must be the same colour (pants and top). We recommend blue or black Gi’s as they hold the colour, we often find white BJJ Gi’s get staining around the neckline from sweat over long periods of time. Wearing other colours except for blue, black and white is not allowed in tournaments. You can check with your coach if you want to wear a coloured Gi different to the ones mentioned above, it’s up to them, if they will allow different coloured Gi’s.
How do you wash your Gi for longevity?
It is best to wash your kimono with cold water, preferably with a colour safe detergent (if your Gi isn’t white). Using cold water and lower temperatures will prevent the Gi from shrinking, which allows you to maintain the ideal fit for years.
When washing your Gi, it’s always a good idea to turn your Gi inside out to maintain the vibrancy of your Gi colour and the patches attached. Your Gi will look fresher for longer as it helps to lessen the colour washing out of it. It is really important to wash your Gi after every training session. Using a fabric softener will be beneficial too, as Gi’s can become quite stiff, especially in summer when the temperature is hotter. Wearing a used Gi without washing it after training, is unhygienic. The sooner you wash your Gi after training, the better. This includes washing your BJJ belt if it has got stains, blood or dirt. There is a superstition that it washes away your knowledge and skill, but wearing a dirty belt harbours bacteria, so if your belt is unclean, wash it too.
Sometimes an old used kimono, has a bad odour and no matter how often you wash it, even if you use the best smelling detergent, deodoriser or sanitiser it doesn’t go away. To eliminate the smell, use one part vinegar and four parts water, soak your Gi in the mixture for about half an hour before washing your Gi in cold water. You can do this mix for your Gi if you’re wearing it for the first time, as it will keep the colour of your Gi vibrant as it locks in the colour.
Should I Sterilise my Gi?
Skin infections such as ringworm, staph, and all sorts of other health hazards can spread via BJJ as it is a close contact sport. With our sweat, and that of all of our teammates, being absorbed in our uniform, it is essential that our Gi’s and rashguards, are sterile before we use them again when training. If you head to your local supermarket, you will find laundry sterilisers in the same place as your detergent and fabric softeners.
Where do you hang your Gi out to dry?
If you want to shrink your kimono purposely – put it in your machine dryer. However, if you love how your Gi fits now, then just hang it out, away from direct sunlight, because sunlight will make your Gi fade, and it will make it even more susceptible to damage. Hanging your Gi inside is what we recommend for optimal conditions to avoid damage to your BJJ kimono.
Your Gi is an investment, and it should be washed regularly. The truth is though, how you treat your Gi will determine how long it will last for. Avoiding fading, damage and shrinkage will be in how you care for your Gi. They are not cheap, so caring for it correctly will make the difference in how long it lasts.
What do I do if my Gi doesn’t fit perfectly?
Get it tailored
If your jiu-jitsu Gi does not fit perfectly right out of the box, you should really think about getting all your Gi tailored if it’s very big. The only reason why you would pick one size higher these days is if you wanted to cut down the Gi for a tighter fit, which would be hard to do most of the time, seeing that some Gi’s are made from pearl weaves these days which barely shrink. You would choose to get it tailored if your body shape isn’t the same size all over. i.e., long torso, short legs.
Shrink your Gi
To shrink your BJJ Gi is easy. One thing to remember is more heat, more shrinkage. But you have to remember, shrinking your Gi is like getting a haircut. You are better off shrinking it slowly, in small increments, then shrinking it quickly as it will never go back to its original size.
If you need to shrink your Gi fabric significantly – do a hot machine wash and put it in a mechanical dryer. Only use this method if you need to shrink your Gi significantly and if it’s much larger than it should be. This will work particularly well with single weave or cotton Gi’s.
If you are that close to having the Gi fit just right but it is only slightly too big – use a hot machine wash, then air dry indoors. This will allow the Gi to shrink the fabric a little bit but not too much!
If you only want to make a small cut to a Gi fabric, then let the washing machine do the job. If your Gi is almost the perfect size, but you need it slightly smaller Wash the Gi in warm water, and then allow it to air-dry in the house like normal. Without the heat of the machine dryer, the Gi will still shrink, just not nearly as much. Warm water will allow for only a small amount of shrinkage, which allows for you to achieve that perfect fit, should your Gi just a bit too large.
Once your Gi is the perfect size – wash your Gi in cold water only and let it air dry inside. Applying heat using the washing machine or mechanical dryer will shrink it more. Once you’ve done your cold wash, hang it on the line, out of direct sunlight. Continuing to wash your Gi in warm or hot water, or drying it in a hot, dry machine, will result in even more shrinkage.
Another thing to consider, is not all Gi’s shrink the same, even if the Gi comes from the same manufacture. So, shrink your Gi gradually so that it doesn’t end up too small.
At C2 Marital Arts, we stock our own Gi. We are 7 minutes from Joondalup in Ocean Reef. Call Crimson if you want to order yours!

Putting together your BJJ gear arsenal can be fun and exciting - if you know what to get. This BJJ beginners checklist will tell you about all the Jiu Jitsu Gear you will need and want to get started with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This covers both the traditional form of BJJ (with a Gi) as well as No Gi Shorts. Have fun putting together your arsenal!
Jiu Jitsu (with Gi)
For the traditional form of BJJ, you will need a Jiu Jitsu Gi and Belt at the very minimum. Rash Guards are also recommended to wear underneath your Gi - see the No-Gi section below for details on rash guards.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi | Bjj Gi
The word ‘gi’ is derived from the Japanese words ‘keikogi’ or ‘dogi’, which means “uniform for training”. As such there are many types of gis out there for all the different martial arts that require this type of uniform.
It is very important that you get a gi that is made for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This is because BJJ Jiu Jitsu Gi are made of tougher material and are designed to be durable and make it difficult for your opponent to grab. A Jiu Jitsu Gi comes with a jacket and pants, and are not usually accompanied with a belt. There are many things to consider when choosing a BJJ Gi.
BJJ Jiu Jitsu Belts
A BJJ Belt is functionally used to tie around your Gi jacket to help keep it in place. It can also be used for both offensive and defensive techniques. A BJJ Belt is something that is very important to the Jiu Jitsu practitioner - you will have it for a very long time, whether on the mat or nailed to your wall after you’ve moved onto bigger and better colors. Make sure you choose the one that best represents you. We offer a great selection. For beginners, this will be a White Belt. From there it goes in the order of Blue, Purple, Brown, Black for Adults and Yellow, Orange, Green for Kids.
BJJ Jiu Jitsu Belts are long as they are meant to wrap around your waist twice and still have excess length after you tie it. On one end there will be a patch with the manufacturer’s logo. On the other end there is usually a black bar (red bar on black belts) where you put your stripes that indicate progress between belt levels. When sizing for a belt, choose the same size that you chose for your gi.
No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Because Brazilian Jiu Jitsu focuses so intently on ground work and grappling it’s crucial your no-gi clothing protect you from abrasions while also enhancing your performance and that’s exactly what our grappling shorts, camo grappling spats and rash guards do.
No Gi Clothing
Animosity Fight Gear design their shorts to withstand the toughest workouts, session after session. We make our shorts from the lightest stretchable material, just to make sure that when you are in battle you know your kicks and knees are unrestricted. Our shorts are designed to last a lifetime with double stitching throughout and embroidered logos that won’t rub off or fade.
Helps improve blood circulation and accelerate recovery time
Anti-microbial fabric
Constructed with high quality polyester
Fully sublimated logos so they will never peal or crack
Made from a super soft flexible 100% polyester material
Triple stitched and overlocked across all stress points
Grappling Shorts
Grappling Shorts (also known as Fight Shorts, MMA Shorts and Vale Tudo shorts) are essential for no-gi BJJ. Fight Shorts are designed for the movements and technique of BJJ. First, they do not slide off easily - which is very important given the holds, grabs, and pulls that they will experience. Second, they allow for flexibility, both on the ground and for kicking if you are into MMA. Lastly, they do not have any metal objects (buttons, zippers, etc.) that can get in the way and cause damage to your opponent.
Fight Shorts (BJJ Shorts) come in two varieties: Board-style shorts which are loose, and Vale Tudo style shorts which are very tight and form fitting. You can also wear Gi Pants for no-gi BJJ, but keep in mind that it gives your opponent an advantage as they will have more to grab onto to control your movements.
Rash Guards
Rash Guards are important for several reasons. First, they are made with moisture wicking material. This draws moisture away from your body, while having the cooling effect of helping sweat evaporate. It also provides thermal insulation by using material that allows air to easily flow through it - essentially creating a layer of cooling air around your torso and arms. Rashguards are an essential form of protection from what is commonly known as “mat-burn”, or damage caused to the skin from contact with the traditional tatami mats used in jiu jitsu. As these mats feature a textured surface which renders them waterproof whilst also offering traction, friction between skin and mat can result in this type of burn. Although the soles of the feet and palms must remain uncovered during combat, the preventative measure of wearing a rash guard can protect key areas of the body such as the chest, arms and back. Rash Guards are also recommended for use under a Gi for the same reasons listed above. Additionally, it limits the rug-burn like effect of the rough gi material - especially the elbows if the rash guard is long sleeve.
Protective Gear
Although Brazilian Jiu Jitsu does not involve striking, it is very intense in that you are applying a lot of force while in very close proximity with your sparring partner. The bottom line is that nobody can always be 100% accurate when executing technique, so sometimes parts of your body end up where you don’t intend, which can cause damage to important areas. Wearing protective gear will help minimize this damage.
Mouth Guards
Although there is no striking/punching/kicking of any sort in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, there are takedowns and you always try to keep your opponent close as you manipulate and move around their body. This means it is likely that you will eventually get accidentally struck in the mouth by a passing arm, knee, leg, etc.
You can diminish the risk by wearing a mouth guard every time you are ready to practice Jiu-Jitsu. A mouth guard is used to protect teeth, gums, and nerves in the jaw.
Groin Protectors
A groin protector is the most important equipment a boxer should wear in every training or sparring session.
This piece of gear protects our groin and other body parts near to it from any accidental hit that might happen during training.
For Fighters, accidental low blows are normal occurrence during an intense sparring session.
To protect boxers,Fighters from any unbearable pain and other injuries resulting from an accidental hit, it is essential to wear a groin protector.
Groin protectors (aka groin cups) are highly recommended, especially since the groin is highly exposed in a variety of Jiu Jitsu techniques and movements, like passing the guard. One slip-up by you or your sparring partner and it is easy for a knee, foot, etc. to get planted where you don’t want it.
Groin protectors come either with a supporter (or jock strap) or the cup standalone. It is recommended that you get a good supporter for the cup as it will ensure a snug fit to your body. This is especially important in BJJ because if your cup is allowed to shift to a bad position, the groin protector quickly becomes a groin assaulter as soon as pressure is applied. Good supporters also have convenient cup sleeves, which enables you to quickly slip the cup in and out as needed between sparring sessions.
Head Gear
One of the conditions that can be caused by BJJ is cauliflower ear. This is due to trauma to the ear by an accidental strike or repeatedly pulling your head out of choke holds. The friction on your ear can cause the skin to separate from the cartilage. The result is a mangled looking ear that is caused by the calcification of the blood that fills up the space between the cartilage and the skin.
Not only is it not painful, cauliflower ear is not very pretty and it can impede hearing. Although cauliflower ear is considered a status symbol amongst veteran fighters and Jiu Jitsu masters, it may not be for the average BJJ practitioner.
To prevent cauliflower ear, be sure to get some headgear or ear protectors. The thing to consider most when getting headgear is something that is very low profile so that your opponents cannot use it as extra advantage to keep you in choke holds. The wrestling headgear should be light. When you choose it, make sure it is made of light materials. There is a load your ear can handle. Make sure not to press ears too much. In the case the pressure on your ears is too high, it might be even worse. Better not to have headgear at all than wearing an uncomfortable one which will affect negatively. A cauliflower ear can also be a consequence of bad ear guards, despite it is rare.
You need a material that will not become too warm after 15-20 minutes of an intense training session. Despite many ear guards cannot fulfill this criterion, it is crucial to try to find the most suitable ones. If it is too warm, you will have to take it off during hard training sessions, which leaves your ears and face exposed to the contact.
Knee Pads / Braces
• When practicing Jiu Jitsu, you will put strain on your knees. This is from frequently posturing on them, landing on them, and twisting them as you roll. Protect and Prevent knee injuries during exercise. Keep warm, prevention and reduction of stiff muscles and joints. Effectively impact resistance, increase blood circulation.
Ergonomic design, super lightweight, provides freedom of movement.
• High-density sponge shock absorption protection, effectively resist the impact force.
• Made of high quality material, comfortable and breathable.
• Large elastic force, comprehensively protect your knees while exercising.
• Great for fitness, outdoor sports or training exercises.
You will want knee pads/braces that are made from BJJ and other grappling martial arts as they are very low profile and flexible. Your legs and knees need to be very flexible and unimpeded during rolling if you wish to execute proper Jiu Jitsu technique.
Jiu Jitsu Bag
Where are you going to put all that gear? BJJ bags and gi backpacks are a very functional and practical way to carry your Jiu Jitsu equipment. Sometimes they are even made with the same type of cotton material and weave used in Jiu Jitsu Gis - which means they are very durable and rugged, and they look pretty cool.
There are two types of BJJ bags to choose from: the duffelbag and the backpack. The backpacks are usually good for carrying one gi and your protective gear. The duffelbags have more room for another gi, a change of clothes, fight shorts, etc. Duffelbags are also very useful for holding water bottles, sports drinks and snacks - which come in quite handy during long and intense sparring sessions.

Buying Advice for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Uniforms and Kimonos
A Brazilian kimonos jiu jitsu Gi is a uniform worn during practice and matches. A BJJ Gi has three primary components: the jacket, womens gi pants, and the belt. Unlike Gis for other martial arts, jiu jitsu kimonos typically do not come with a belt, so you'll need to purchase one separately.
A jiu jitsu gi mens are specialised piece of gear. Since there is a lot of pulling and grasping in BJJ, all Gis are durable. Compared to Judo or Aikido Gis, these are considerably more durable and feature a more form-fitting design. This is because training and rolling in Jiu-Jitsu, particularly wide sleeves, like those found in Judo Gis, are very easy to manage.
As a rule, cotton is used to make Jiu-Jitsu gis because of the material's superior breathability, durability, and resistance to odour retention and microbial growth. Different weaves and reinforcements give the Gi varying degrees of durability and weight.

The Proper Way to Put on a BJJ Gi.
There are specific guidelines for donning a jiu-jitsu gi, which consists of a jacket and bjj gi pants:
Wear pants first:
Put the folded side out and hold your hands in front of you again. Insert your legs through the openings and draw them up to your waist. Then, secure them by tying the elastic or drawstring around your waist with white gi pants.
Get the jacket on:
First, turn the jacket inside out and hold it open in front of you. Pull on the gi kimonos for sale near me with your arms through the jacket's sleeves.
Get the belt on:
After putting on the jacket, secure the belt around your midsection.
What Size of BJJ Gi Should You Buy?
To get the ideal gi size, one must consider height and weight. A man between five and five feet four inches tall would wear a gi in size A0. A woman between four and four feet eight inches tall would be comfortable in a gi sized F0. If you're planning on buying a gi, it's a good idea to compare the size chart across different brands first.
In what shade of kimono should you train?
It's easy to learn how to distinguish between colours. When training, you can wear anything you like. Bigger groups may have their official uniforms and require members to wear them. Colour, though, is largely up to you.
There is, however, a single fundamental guideline to observe. Take a white Gi if you are unsure of what colour to wear. You can always wear the tried-and-true black gi pants or blue if you're not a fan. It's fine to practise with any colour you like, but only the above three will go very far in most tournaments. Since most martial artists dabble in games, it makes sense to invest in a Gi that can serve both purposes.
Conclusion
Use your newfound knowledge of donning a BJJ Gi by engaging in frequent training. To learn how to wear a bjj gi kimonos, you can watch more videos or ask for help at your dojo.

If you don't have revenue problems then you may be capable of purchase lots of Bjj gear but for all those short on funds should be sure to achieve main gear. At present we will explore the 4 key pieces of Jiu Jitsu Gear you must have when ever training in Bjj.
jiu jitsu rash guards
Bjj Gi - A Bjj Gi may be the single most important bit of Jiu Jitsu Supplies you would need. Your Bjj Gi is additionally known as the Bjj Kimono. Your Bjj Kimonos typically include a Gi top in addition to Gi pants. This is the uniform you'll certainly be wearing to train within the sport of Bjj. Training in the Bjj Gi also explains much technique that will greatly improve a person's game.
Bjj Belt - Depending on ones rank, you will purchase a Bjj belt so that you can wear either white colored, blue purple, brown lightly or black. Bjj belts are also really important because they are the key item to look at to see ones own improvement in Bjj. Your instructor is the primary judge you can sell organic a higher belt or even not. Typically, through the day you beginning until you get your ebony belt it will take from about 10 - 12 years on average. Around Bjj, obtaining cutting edge higher belts is noticeably harder than every other martial art out there considering that it is the hardest to create the muscle recollection the Bjj dark belts have.
Break outs Guard - Allergy Guards are very crucial to wear under a Bjj Kimonos if you'd like to prevent catching a single thing from any of your attackers. They could also come to be good to reduce a person's sweat as they escape some of your perspire. However in most competitions or any IBJJF tournament rash protects are not permissible in competition.
Ear Protect - Although major Bjj fighters might not wear ear pads to train I remarkably do recommend the application if you don't want ones ear looking disgusting for the rest you have ever had. At least wear it 75% of the time when you coach. When you compete basically leave them out of.

Class Four: Getting My Gi
The first three classes of BJJ we took were before we officially signed up for our full time BJJ classes. This class was the first time that I would be officially part of the BJJ academy with my very own gi.
It was blue (matches my eyes) and the white belt was so clean looking.
I had to watch a few YouTube videos on how to tie my white belt in order to get it right.
youtube
Training in my own gi was a bit of a failure during this class. I hadn’t gotten the hang of tightening my pants correctly and they kept sliding down. That’s why I always wear clothing beneath my gi. I don’t want to flash everybody in class.

Elite Sports sent me this Jiu Jitsu Gi to review on my blog! I choose the black, but they also offer navy blue, royal blue, white, grey, and even pink! I received the Gi yesterday, but I haven’t had a chance to roll in it yet. Out of the package, my first impression of this Gi is very good. The fabric of the Gi top is neither too thick nor too thin. It’s not rough or stiff, but it still feels very durable. The stitching looks good, and, as an added bonus, it is purple like the little accent in the logo which adds a bit of subtle, tasteful style. The pants are a basic cut ripstop style. They are lightweight but still seem durable. On fit. I am very difficult to fit with Gis, being so long limbed and skinny. They are all either too short or too baggy. The sales rep recommended that I try the women’s A3, however, the only women’s Gi they offer at this time is slap-you-in-the-face pink. So I choose the men’s/unisex A2 instead. Weight-wise the Gi fits just the way I like. It’s not too baggy, and it’s not too tight either. There’s a little more room in the arm pit area than I need, but it’s otherwise perfect. The pants also fit well. Length-wise, the sleeves are right at the “barely ibjjf legal” point. I wouldn’t want them any shorter, and I would prefer they be a little bit longer. However, they are a suitable length for training. The Gi is said to be preshrunk, and since I usually wash my Gis in cold and hang them to dry, I’m hoping there will be very little/no shrinkage. The pants are also a touch short, but, again, it’s not by much. They’re suitable for training. All in all, the Gi is very comfortable, and I’m looking forward to rolling in it. I will post an updated review after I do! You can purchase this Gi or browse their others at this link: https://www.elitesports.com/brazilian-jiu-jitsu-bjj-gis
