Okay guys so recently ive been really loving custom dolls (debated about making my own) and though hey why not make a shu x reader fic where reader loves custom dolls and even makes some. So here is my rough idea!

Shu Itsuki x Doll loving reader

So as we all hopefully know, Shu loves dolls. His favorite being Mademoiselle. Shu might offer to help make clothing, but dont show him the modifications on bodies. He may scream. If you have an interest in BJD (Ball jointed dolls) dolls he may let you use Mademoiselle as a reference if you sculpt them yourself. He loves to watch you do what many call a 'face up' (basically drawing a face on the doll after removing factory paint if it was a premade doll.) He might suggest good doll brands (most customizers love monster high due to good molds and articulation). He would love fantasy dolls probably. And when a custom ooak (one of a kind) doll video is uploaded he may ask Mika to watch it with you. He especially loves collabs between doll artists. One video he fell in love with was Dollightfull's Steampunk collab.(Valkyrie is steampunk if you didnt know) And he probably watches it a lot.

Of course this has its downsides as well. Shu would be terrified of you customizing Mademoiselle. But if you are a digital doll artist he wouldnt have that fear. Shu definitely loves fashion dolls, so sharing that interest is lovely to him! Just dont let him watch any of Dollightful's dragon videos (he will cry probably). Might even start creating his own to model Valkyrie outfits at a smaller scale. Because it would use less fabric and all.

A shared love of dolls is perfect! Especially when shu is in love.

So yan shu would also love your love of dolls. But if you spend too much time on customs he will be sad. Unless you share your work area which would be convenient for everyone. Fabrics are all in the same spot. And he could also use your dolls as models for clothes and get a good idea of what you like for designing.

Now if you are a digital doll sculptor shu may use unconventional methods to learn your style. Such as opening your computer when you arent around. He might even ask to use it (after learning how to). But if you have vroid (a 3d software for anime vtube models) shu may use that as reference for new designs. When you talk to others about customs you worked on together he might be mad. Especially if you talk to Eichi about it. Heaven forbid you talk to Eichi about a heaven themed doll and he will blow his top. Of course some of his favorite customs are steampunk theme. It shows you pay attention to what he likes (if its a coincidence and you didnt he acts delusional). Of course he would love every doll you make (eyes the blonde haired ones). He also would love if you made an eccentric themed doll (if you know you know). Or one that looked like him!

I can speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese fluently. I can also read Japanese, but not speak or write it. I translate Enstars stories and fanfics for a friend sometimes.

I like singing and used to play piano and violin. Most of my time is spent on playing video games and reading fanfiction.

I don't understand internet vocabulary very well and get confused when people reference memes. I've been told that my writing style makes me seem like an old lady.

Also I live with four cats: Tohru, who belongs to my brother, Fräulein, Boo, and Billie. I am kind of a cat magnet? Fräulein and Boo do not cuddle up to anyone but me. In fact, Fräulein runs when people other than me go near her.

Oh, no, don't get me wrong I like this outfit a lot. It's a Volks set, I have the MSD size of it, too, and Mika has been wearing it since I got it.

There are also a lace choker and headdress that go with this that I'm missing for the SD size version, and both have their lace wristlets but of course that won't fit over Unoss's hands and I don't have them on my Mika anyway.

I am, however, a little annoyed that it's the only thing I have that can fit over her enormous hands because the sleeves are gathered elastic.

Her hands, feet, and ears are all really big compared to other female BJD her size.

Her legs, too. She's straining the seams on those leggings.

I need some dressing paddles for her.

Only thing I have that will fit over her hands...

Too bad the accessories are missing.

I’m constantly revisiting my own work, and I hope improving upon it.

I was looking at Mika and was disappointed in the faceup I’d given her.

Granted, she looked better than she did when I got her.

I have a habit of being a little too-careful with faceups on child dolls and decided to go back and add a LOT to what she had instead of trying over again from nothing.

She is a LOT cuter, now, I think.

New doll!!

She's so lovely. Here she's got the brown eyes she arrived with.

We played wigs first! She's got a bigger head than either of my other 1/3 size dolls, so she gets to claim the bigger wigs.

I also discovered that a few of my clothing pieces fit her perfectly...

The regent dress was one of my first finds back when I started. Its perfectly crafted with exquisite finishing details and a sateen petticoat that's as pretty as anything else I own. She wears it incredibly well; I had to move a snap to get it to fit Lila.

That gold and white confection though... I clearly bought that one for **this** doll. It fits her like it was made for her.

I have this faerie idea I've been playing with, all gold and filigree; she would be stunning in it. Possibly with this dress.

I like this wig, too. It has little pigtails!

She's spectacular and I adore her!

Destiny or sumn

I have a random funny story that tickles my heart as someone who enjoys whimsical coincidences and nostalgia lol So a couple years ago, I think in 2017 I started looking for an MSD Mika because she was one of the first BJDs I wanted when I was a tween- and usually when I want a doll, especially a resin, I will look for IRL photos of them because BJDs often look entirely different in real life, so I favorited a bunch of random pictures on Flickr to reference- several of them being of this yellowed Mika!   Well in 2019, I found and very quickly purchased an old, yellowed Oldskin Mika with the most beautiful, soft, simplistic faceup that perfectly highlights the kind of haunting beauty I look for in old BJDs.  A couple days ago, I was scrolling through my old Flickr favorites and I thought...huh. That Mika looks an awful lot like mine. So I clicked on the account and sure enough, that is my Mika and I coincidentally favorited a bunch of photos of her two years before I purchased that exact doll from a Facebook listing lol! They even have the exact photo from their Facebook listing in the album! They even sent me some of the same clothes she’s wearing in those photos, she came to me packed in that exact yellow dress and white top.

It’s super interesting to see how she looked with her previous owner in 2007-2008, compared to how she looks with me now.

So similar but so different. I just love silly little coincidences like that so I thought I’d share lol

Day 12: Mika

Day 12 of my #dodadvent2021 : Mika! Don’t let his appearance fool you too much - he’s a pro gamer & streamer. I might make a SD sized computer desk room setup next year, I have a few dolls that would suit it for a photoshoot 🤔 (I did not get his hoodie finished in time for his photo, I will likely post that next month instead 🥲)

Forwards to 2016 and we’ve reached the first resin babes! It’s Lena’s Doll History 3 - Mal and Caleb!

A lot of stuff happened in 2016. And on a personal level, I had to realise, that life can end quickly. Very quickly. You start thinking about priorities, if a suicide bomber went off about 200m away from where you live...

So in August 2016 I finally gave in and spent $$$ on my first resin BJDs. Yes, dollS. I could not decide if I wanted a boy or girl doll, and since I really had saved up quite a bit of money, and I had just lived through several eyeopening events within a few months and even days, I said, whatever, can’t use that money if I’m dead, YOLO and all.

I got a Minifee Chloe and Mir. I know, everyone and their grandma has a Minifee, and especially Chloe, but I (almost) never cared about what other people had, thought, or deemed popular. She’s pretty and I don’t regret getting her.

My very first attempts of wig making and their first faceups. Oh god, looking back at them makes me nostalgic.

My first plans for them was making them some fantasy siblings, the children of Sun and Moon, inspired by this very old drawing I did a few years ago. That... didn’t really work out, not only but also because I couldn’t get a nice looking outfit for them and while I commissioned several designs, none of them kinda stuck in the end.

So they were kinda on a “hiatus” for quite some time. I painted both again after about a year or so, and while I was happy with their look, I still couldn’t really bond with them...

Especially Mal was troublesome. So much, that I actually thought about selling her in 2018, when I already had a few more dolls and everyone else kinda had their own character and story, but her...

Until that day I finally got inspired again. I made her a new outfit, a new wig and suddenly I felt a spark of joy when looking at her!

Mal is the doll that has went through the most wigs, the most faceups and the most style changes out of all my dolls... and I kinda liked each of them?

In 2018, my dear friend Saphar actually brought to life these wonderful designs I commissioned from General Cowslip that were created with their old Sun/Moon story in mind. Ana made these outfits so wonderfully and now they’re used as ... let’s say cosplays for my dolls? I love taking photos of them, and even though they’re not their real characters anymore, they look quite good in their god-form I want to say!
