watching s5 e1 and one thing that gets me is that not one person has said it wasn’t all Sam’s fault. like. Demon Bobby said "lose my number" and Dean just stood off to the side like 👁️👁️. And then Dean’s speech at the end???? Excuse me???? This boy broke a seal, too, mind you, but no. And they BOTH wanted Lilith dead. I cannot with this.

And sometimes, I want to focus just on Sam, without other folx coming in with a “Dean too” because damn there’s enough of that in canon, can’t I just have a fun fandom moment?

I don’t hate dean. I am sometimes critical of him because he is a complex character with interesting flaws and also the narrative’s darling, while my precious blorbo Sam is overlooked a lot by the writers. And yeah - there are things that could be criticized in Sam, but I choose not to because - gasp, shock - I am unhinged about Sam.

I’m just.

I’m having a MOMENT right now, y’know? A Bitter Sam Girl moment.

And sometimes I just want to make happy posts about Sam and his interactions with non-Dean characters, especially the few who show a marked preference for Sam, and not have a “Dean too!!!” pop up because.

Because there always is.

And I hate that I have to add this, but of course I do: of COURSE Sam would be the first to put Dean forward. Of COURSE Sam loves Dean more than anything. Of COURSE you cannot have Sam without Dean. That is not the point, and it does not invalidate my personal feelings here. I’m having Feelings with a capital F of the bitter Sam girl variety. So uh… please don’t respond to this if you’re not also a Bitter Sam Fan.

16. Your take on Samjess?

I love these two crazy kids, I really do. I like to think they would have made it. However, even if you get past that he couldn't/wouldn't tell her the truth about his life, at the end of the day you've got to face the fact that you're married to someone else's soulmate. And that's never not awkward. But they would have made such beautiful babies. Beautiful, tall babies.

23. Scene/episode that makes you want to chew glass.

Why, whatever do you mean? Why would any scene or episode have such an effect on me?

Okay, there are episodes that make me want to chew glass just on their own merits, or lack thereof. Bloodlines. Wayward Sisters. The Heroes' Journey. May they all burn in Hell. But for Sam-specific reasons, it's more scenes than episodes. Let's say the scene where Cas tells Sam (1) "we" let Lucifer out (NO CAS IT WAS YOU JUST YOU), and (b) being Lucifer's vessel was "the worst violation" (YOU CHOSE IT AND YOU SPENT THE ENTIRE TIME IN YOUR MIND IN THE BUNKER KITCHEN WATCHING TV RATHER THAN BEING TORTURED SO JUST SHUT UP. ) But we cannot ignore Bobby’s incredulous realization late in s5 that Sam is actually a good person. Or Sam saying “same circumstances, I wouldn’t,” and no one (Dean, audience, anyone) understanding that he means NO, I WOULD NOT DO SOMETHING YOU FIND ABHORRENT TO YOU JUST TO SAVE YOUR LIFE, ESPECIALLY NOT WHEN I KNEW YOU WOULD RATHER DIE THAN LIVE THROUGH THAT. We cannot ignore every time Sam was made to look stupid just to make someone else look smarter (yeah, Charlie showing him how to hack into a bank, I DO NOT THINK SO, SHOW.) We cannot ignore Sam apologizing for stopping his search for Dean when he didn’t have any way of knowing Dean was in Purgatory. We can’t pretend “Season Seven, Time for a Wedding” didn’t happen, nor can we ignore that (1) Sam being tied down, pants removed, was played for laughs and (b) HE WAS HALLUCINATING LUCIFER THE WHOLE TIME. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.

ALSO. CELINE FUCKING DION.

I probably need to calm down.

(There are many more. I have either chosen to ignore them, or have blocked them from my memory.)

But if I have to pick just one scene/episode, right now, let’s say it’s Dean returning to the bunker after Amara and Chuck kiss and make up. And seeing that someone made his brother bleed and then took him away. And taking his own sweet time finding that brother. Sending Cas out to look for him, while he hangs out with Mary in the bunker and complains to Cas about how weird that is. Finding the town where his brother is probably located and saying “okay, I’ll just drive back to the bunker with Mom while we think about this situation.” Again, WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK.

25. Which villain obsessed with Sam is your favorite?

Ruby. Ruby, Ruby, Ruby. Honorable mention: Gordon Walker and s5 Lucifer. Lucifer would have had this in the bag if he’d just stayed obsessed with Sam when he came back in later seasons (or, even better, if he hadn’t come back), but there we are. (Delightful though she may be, Rowena doesn’t go here because by the time she became obsessed with Sam - and don’t tell me she wasn’t - she was no longer a villain.)

29. Your thoughts on Sam and demon blood?

My thoughts are that this scene, right here, is unbearably sexy.

Oh, you wanted me to think with my upstairs brain? Fine. My thoughts are that everything Sam does, he does for a good reason. He thinks he’s doing the right thing. And sucking down demon blood is no exception. You can’t say no good came of it - it allowed him (or he thought it allowed him) to exorcise demons without harming the host. He thought it would allow him to take Lilith out. If you’re going to hold that against him, I just don’t know what to tell you. (If you’re going to hold that against him but you’re going to excuse Dean for taking the Mark of Cain, I do know what I’m going to tell you, and it is that you are an idiot.)

Oh fuck that one moment in particular.

You know the one.

The one where Sam is talking to Charlie, and telling her about how he almost died to close Hell but Dean wasn't okay with that, and he um--

And Charlie fills in the blank with "he saved you."

And Sam just agrees. "Yeah. He saved me."

Except he didn't feel saved.

How could he explain to her, this girl who only sees the love and devotion of Dean that he was violated? Especially after she filled in the words for him.

Dean saved him.

Just like Dean saved the world from Lucifer.

He's just Sam, just the abomination, just the boy with the demon blood, just "bad luck with the ladies" Sam (don't think about jess on the ceiling madison turning to a wolf ruby and sarah and amy and amelia don't think don't thinkdontdontdont) and Dean's ungrateful brat of a brother.

Charlie says "He saved you" with a voice full of worship and aren't you grateful eyes.

Sam agrees "yeah. he saved me," and he means damnation.
