BiteClan’s Beginnings (TBC)

Siblings Deer and Hare have always been close, but the two have never really belonged anywhere, never had a place to call their home. And, when Hare learned she was pregnant, the two decided it was time to move on and find somewhere a bit safer than their current twolegplace for her to have her litter. The siblings arrive in the territory searching for a safe place for Hare to have her kits, but the two struggle to establish a den and adjust to the fraught relationships between the cats of the area. 

Elsewhere in the territory, Jaybird begs her brother Lakeshore to stay with her and help her care for their aging father Crane and her young son Spiderweb. Jaybird’s previous kits had all died before their first seasonal cycle, and her pleading convinces Lakeshore to stay, if only for a little while, despite his desire to wander and see the world. 

A moon later, while sharing prey with her brother after a successful hunt, Hare realizes her kits are coming. Deer is a complete wreck and not helpful whatsoever, but Hare safely delivers a single healthy kit, a son she names Striker, to encourage him to grow big and strong.

HELLO I AM CLANGENNING AGAIN

i will be blogging every year of my clan (RiftClan) in ClanGen which you can download here ! :D if you don't wanna see these, feel free to block the "riftclangen.blogging" tag i will be using :]

the rest of these wont have a cut-off, but this one will for your convenience <33

the decided lore i'm going with is that these cats were all exiled for standing up to a tyrannical leader from one of the other clans, and after finding a cave with beautiful crystals and water that shone like the night sky, they decided to live there. i will be starting in leaf-bare.

okay i forgot to log some stuff but uhhh Pansypaw went out on his warrior assessment and got bit by an eagle. so. oops lolz. here is Pansypaw being injured and sad.

ALSO moon 1, Ashspark just hunted a rabbit on Biteclan territory and got chased away. because of this, i'm gonnna say they were previously FROM Biteclan. woo! ALSO ALSO moon 1, Crestedfeather and Skyglare are mates <3

nothing much happened on patrols, but Streamsmoke helped Echobeetle with gathering rosemary and got a small cut, so.

firstly, Bushrustle was seen chasing a rogue off the territory! Way to go Mr. Ignored Deputy

this moon Riftpaw has been getting a lot of love! She gave Rimeroar advice that he knows will be good, wowed Ryestar with her bravery, and had a pleasant conversation with Greychaser! It seems everyone in Biteclan loves her!

...except Petuniafoot. It seems no matter what she does, they are always angry at her for something. This moon, it was a pretty feather they both wanted but ended up destroying in an argument over it.

This is leading to conflict in Riftpaw's apprenticeship. Whilst training together, Greychaser notices that Riftpaw isn't acting like her usual self, and asks what's wrong. Riftpaw breaks down and says she feels like a failure and that she isn't good enough. Greychaser comforts her, and tells her that she's more than her failures and that failure is just a chance to improve.

other happenings this moon include:

Petuniafoot gathers cobwebs on patrol

Ryestar leads a hunting patrol with Fuzzypaw and Rimeroar, and Fuzzypaw easily catches another mouse!

Bushrustle goes on a solo hunting patrol, wanting some time to himself, and catches a prairie dog!

Moon 0- Newleaf: 

Lakeshore agrees to help his sister Jaybird look after their aging and injured father Crane and her young kit Spiderweb, despite his urge to wander 

Siblings Deer and Hare arrive in the forest, looking for somewhere safe for Hare to have her litter 

Moon 1- Newleaf: 

Hare safely has a single kit, a son she names Striker

Moon 2- Newleaf: 

A kittypet named Lady has two kits named Billy and Luna, and she is then abandoned by her twolegs 

Deer meets an elderly molly named Mistle while hunting 

Mistle introduces Deer and Hare to Apricot and her kit Yarrow; Mistle and Apricot have been helping each other out recently and have become good friends 

Moon 3- Greenleaf: 

Deer is attacked by a trio of unfamiliar cats while hunting in the forest; Mistle warns him about SunClan 

Mistle, Apricot, Deer, and Hare decide to help each other look after their kits, agreeing to work together and moving to a new den site 

Moon 4- Greenleaf: 

Lake leaves to wander, so Crane starts venturing out more often 

Crane meets Apricot and Deer 

Moon 5- Greenleaf: 

Rattlesnake and Lancer, two toms traveling together, run into a SunClan patrol and realize its a fight they can’t win 

Hare meets Rattlesnake and introduces him and Lancer to the group 

Deer and Hare spot Lady’s body on the thunderpath while hunting and rush to rescue her kits, but Hare is killed trying to save an already-passed Luna 

A devastated Deer brings Billy back to Mistle and Apricot 

Moon 6- Leaffall: 

Mistle peacefully passes in her sleep 

Moon 7- Leaffall: 

A large aggressive dog is chased out of the forest by SunClan, where it hunts the kits in Mistle’s den; it kills Hare, Yarrow, and Striker before finally being driven off 

Apricot dies from her injuries a few days later 

Devastated, Deer takes Billy and leaves 

Moon 8- Leaffall: 

Spiderweb stumbles across WHO and begs for help- he and Jay were attacked by a dog and he got separated from her 

BiteClan is formed 

Deerstar renames each cat: Crane becomes Cranerun, and Spiderweb becomes Webpaw 

Leopardcloud and Gillpuddle tire themselves out looking for herbs 

Cranerun, Rootleg, and Dawnspeckle intimidate a rogue off their land 

Moon 9- Leafbare: 

Leopardcloud and Gillpuddle's soreness abates 

BiteClan sets off in search of Jay, but they are unable to find any trace of her 

Webpaw is named Webpounce for his passion 

Cranerun steps down as deputy, with Rattlegale chosen to take their place 

Bloompaw has a running nose 

Webpounce cuts their paw while helping Leopardcloud 

Deerstar, WHO find a sick kittypet named Eda wailing for their twoleg to come back; she agrees to stay with BiteClan for now 

Moon 10- Leafbare: 

The weather has turned the camp into a muddy mess; Rattlegale sprains a paw slipping in the muck 

Webpounce's cut stops bothering him 

Eda recovers from whitecough 

Rootleg takes Bloompaw out for training while Rattlegale is injured 

Eda suggests that Jay could’ve been taken by twolegs, so BiteClan ventures into the twolegplace looking for her; WHO finds Jay trapped in a twoleg den with another kittypet named Veil

Rainsun’s Mistake

SunClan’s recent issues with rogues come to a head when Rainsun sneaks out of camp to go speak to the group of rogues. The group had settled just beyond SunClan territory and refused to acknowledge the borders, leading to multiple tense run ins and increasing conflict in the territories. 

Rainsun, SunClan’s deputy, sneaks off one day during Leaffall to go speak with them, to try come to an agreement where the two groups would not have to come to blows over border issues. 

The meeting... does not go well. Alone and outnumbered, Rainsun doesn't even make it to their camp before being confronted by some of the rogues, who refuse to hear her out and drive her back to clan territory, luckily with minimal injury.

Forced to return home, Rainsun is confronted by Goldentooth, demanding to know where she'd been and what she had been doing, as no one in the clan knew where she went. Dragged before the clan, Rainsun attempts to explain herself, Mudstar furious she'd go behind his back like this- a leader's word is law, and she had disobeyed him. Mudstar strips Rainsun of her rank and appoints Goldentooth as the new deputy, much to the shock of the Clan's healers. 

Rainsun is inconsolable and completely shuts herself off from everyone and goes missing from camp several days later. She is found by Cloudyplume, unconscious, with a badly twisted leg. When she comes to later that evening, Rainsun admits she’d been jumping from the rocks and had landed badly, spraining her leg and hitting her head in the process. 

Later in the moon, Mudstar orders Scrungle finally take a clan name, and after several days of back and forth arguing, Scrungle relents and visits the spirit place, being renamed Comfreydash.

Moon 0- Newleaf: 

Sporepaw is crushed and killed by a tree on patrol 

Mudstar and Rainsun recruit Scrungle as a healer 

Nectarsnout introduces Scrungle and Cloudyplume 

Moon 1- Newleaf: 

Daisypaw is named Daisyflood for her determination 

Goldentooth and Mudstar fight a small dog on patrol 

Nectarsnout encourages Mudstar and Rainsun to talk to each other 

Moon 2- Newleaf: 

Nectarsnout travels to FinchClan and successfully resolves some personal disputes there 

A border patrol led by Mudstar encounter a JuniperClan patrol, the two patrols respectfully marking borders with no issues 

Nectarsnout continues to encourage the leader and deputy to work together more closely 

Moon 3- Greenleaf: 

several cats begin growing closer- Pouncepetal and Nectarsnout have been spending more time together, while Cloudyplume, Scrungle, Mudstar, and Rainsun all seem to be more interested in each other in various combinations

Meanwhile, Goldentooth has been getting on everyone’s nerves, and Daisyflood and Pouncepetal sneak out of camp on a dare, though Cloudyplume has been spending less and less time in camp recently 

Sleetfeather, Goldentooth, and Daisyflood encounter a JuniperClan patrol, but Sleetfeather is quick to break the awkward atmosphere with a friendly greeting and easy conversation 

While on a border patrol, Mudstar, Rainsun, and Cloudyplume discover a trespassing rogue and Mudstar and Cloudyplume drive them off 

Nectarsnout teases Cloudyplume about her newfound closeness with Mudstar 

Moon 4- Greenleaf: 

Goldentooth is injured by the badger previously found on Clan territory while on patrol with Mudstar and Daisyflood 

Rainsun, Sleetfeather, and Cloudyplume have a good border patrol, chatting with FinchClan cats at the border 

Mudstar and Cloudyplume continue to grow closer 

Moon 5- Greenleaf: 

The Clan generally becomes more solidified as a group, bonding as a whole 

Cloudyplume suffers from heat stroke 

Some of the herb store goes bad, reducing the healers’ supplies 

Sleetfeather and Daisyflood intimidate a rogue off of SunClan territory 

Mudstar and Rainsun fight off a small dog 

Moon 6- Leaffall: 

Cloudyplume recovers from her heatstroke and Goldentooth heals from injuries sustained in the badger fight 

Daisyflood was seen playing with a kittypet across the border, anonymously reported to Mudstar 

A larger patrol of Rainsun, Sleetfeather, Goldentooth, and Daisyflood confront the rogues again 

Moon 7- Leaffall: 

Rainsun disobeys Mudstar’s orders and tries to talk to the rogue group alone; she is caught breaking the Code and is demoted from deputyship as a result; Mudstar names Goldentooth the new deputy 

Rainsun sprains her leg leaping between rocks near camp 

Sleetfeather and Daisyflood encounter a large dog on patrol, Sleetwhisker almost collapsing from exhaustion leading the dog away from SunClan territory 

The clan meets a loner named Speedwell with some healing skill, but she declines to join SunClan 

At Mudstar’s sudden insistence, Scrungle is renamed to Comfreydash by StarClan 

Moon 8- Leaffall: 

The rogue group consolidates itself, declaring themselves as BiteClan, actively recruiting other cats into their clan to quickly grow their ranks 

Mudstar changes tactics- instead of aggression and preparing for war on the cusp of leafbare, SunClan instead follows suit, opening their borders to loners and kittypets who could make the clan stronger 

Sleetfeather, Cloudyplume, and Daisyflood convince a kittypet named Simba to join SunClan, who is given the name Murkyshade 

Moon 9- Leafbare: 

As leafbare begins to sit in, Hazefall and Comfreydash hear odd sounds on the wind while refreshing their herb supplies; they discover a dying cat, Tadpoleshade, who entrusts the healers with his newborn kits Juncokit and Goosekit before passing 

Rainsun recovers from her sprain 

Sleetfeather retires to the elder’s den 

While hunting together, Cloudyplume dares Mudstar to hunt right by the Twoleg dens, but she is seen and captured; luckily, Mudstar figures out a way to free her and the two return to SunClan the next day, shaken but safe 

Goldentooth and Murkyshade recruit a kittypet and her kits to join SunClan- they are named Whorlfern, with kits Branchkit, Mushroomkit, and Gardenkit, and are welcomed into the Clan 

Rainsun and Daisyflood report on BiteClan’s kindness after encountering a group of cats at the border 

Moon 10- Leafbare: 

Cloudyplume and Mudstar become mates! 

Gardenkit is seen trying to sort grass the way the healers sort herbs 

Murkyshade tries too hard to befriend Whorlfern, who is getting sick of the attention 

Pouncepetal slips from a rock and dislocates his shoulder 

Goldentooth develops a stomachache 

Branchkit keeps waking up with a headache, but has been trying to ignore the nagging pain 

The clan pays special attention to the sudden influx of kits: in particular, Nectarsnout has been keeping an eye on Juncokit, while Goldentooth bonds with Gardenkit and Daisyflood with Goosekit 

Meanwhile, Comfreydash ignores Branchkit’s complaints of a headache, entirely focused on Gardenkit 

Several cats continue to quietly clash- especially Daisyflood and Rainsun with Goldentooth 

Rainsun and Cloudyplume go hunting together, Rainsun eating the prey she’d caught while on patrol, several cats suspicious of her returning with empty paws and a full belly 

Mudstar, Goldentooth, and Daisyflood find a kittypet named Zikomo willing to join the Clan; she is renamed to Rustbloom 

Moon 11- Leafbare: 

Gardenkit and Goosekit pester the older cats to play with them 

Mudstar calls a clan meeting, but forgets what he was going to say 

Goldentooth thinks about killing Mudstar and staging it as an accident 

Murkyshade has been coming and going more often recently, and sprains a muscle on one of his walks; Rainsun is suspicious 

Rainsun’s leg injury acts up again, and spending time in the healer’s den with Murkyshade gives her the opportunity to ask where he’s been going, though he is extremely reticent to answer and dodges the question, worrying her further 

Daisyflood wonders how Sleetfeather is doing, and the two spend more time together this moon 

Murkyshade returns to camp one day with three newborn kits named Heronkit, Rosemarykit, and Pebblekit, refusing to discuss where they’re from, only that they are his kits and he’s keeping them 

With several kits approaching apprentice age, a vague tenseness has invaded the camp, with the interested potential mentors practically competing to impress both the kits and Mudstar in hopes of securing their kit of choice as their future apprentice 

Comfreydash once again butts heads with Goldentooth, this time over Gardenkit, though Comfreydash grows rather fond of Mushroomkit in the process, as he spends much of his time with Whorlfern’s litter, though he continues to mostly ignore Branchkit 

Branchkit, meanwhile, is worried they won’t do a good enough job as an apprentice and that they’ll be kicked out the clan, especially with all the attention Gardenkit is getting 

Pouncepetal eavesdrops on the kits, eager to see what they think of their potential mentors 

Rustbloom catches yellowcough and is isolated in camp 

On patrol, Mudstar and Goldentooth chase a fox away from a deer carcass, and Goldentooth realizes how daunting replacing Mudstar might actually be- he is afraid of nothing and seemingly undefeatable 

Mudstar comes down with a stomachache
