anyways i think if we were intended to read that Tom Shiv interaction as harmless Tom would simply have scuffed her shoes back or insulted her outfit or wiped mud on her jacket or any number of things equivalent to stepping on someone's shoes and insulting their fashion, and i think Sarah Snook would not have looked at him like a hurt child about to start crying, and i think that if the whole interaction was a harmless spat shiv might not even have asked him to dinner afterwards. i think Tom's biteback being at Least A Little disproportionate to hers was intentional because otherwise i mean like you're robbing the scene of 70% of its weight if it's Not That Serious. it is. it means something.

Governor Abbott is trying to whitewash the blood on his hands. He is trying to deny the reality that he has ESCALATED gun violence in our state.

Quick refresher:

1. 377 officers responded to Robb Elementary and waited over an hour before engaging the gun man while he shot 4th graders and educators. 21 victims total, 19 of them children.

2. Governor Abbott one day after the shooting said: “As horrible as what happened, it could have been worse,” Abbott said. “The reason it was not worse is because law enforcement officials did what they do. They showed amazing courage by running toward gunfire for the singular purpose of trying to save lives.”

Crucially, he said school officers “approached the gunman and engaged with the gunman.” That account echoed statements delivered by state authorities, some of whom said officers exchanged fire with the gunman.
