i have ANOTHER @clonebang fic that will begin posting TODAY! \o/

this fic, “but still, bless me anyway”, is the murderbot diaries / clone wars fusion that i have been teasing for so long. i hope you’re all excited!

im working with the amazing @ryr-art who has created 3 perfect pieces of art to go along with this fic. please go show them some love!! and here’s a little preview to get you excited ;)

The Unit opens its eyes. It's in a tight, enclosed space. There is nothing in its databank that would warn of danger, nothing to cause it distress or set off any sensors, but its breathing picks up nonetheless.

It’s… in a cubicle, right? The Medsystem buzzes around it, busy at work. It automatically runs an internal diagnostic, but nothing pops up.

That meant, of course, that some asshole just had to notice that the Guard weren’t getting their fair share of questions.

Cody freezes, and something in his chest goes cold. Next to him, Rex bites back a wounded noise, as they all come to the same conclusion at once.

“Please! Has anyone seen the Coruscant Guard?”

“The gap between the Guard and the GAR is troubling to them,” Neyo says. “This could be a good way to test the waters.”

He at least looks like he understands where Fox is coming from. Neyo and Fox both like to keep things neat and tidy, and the Grand Army bumbling about on Coruscant while members of the Guard direct them around like they’re unruly tubies is not neat and tidy.

There are tears slipping down his cheeks, and he raises a heavy hand, trying to wipe them away, but someone else beats him to it. It doesn’t feel like 02 – 02 has a nick on his thumb from a training accident, and TenTen can always feel it when 02 holds his hand, firm and steady.

For a moment, Jango was viciously tempted to.

“Shut up,” he grunted, and grabbed the clone by the elbow, only barely remembering to keep his grip gentle.

With the Senate closed, the streets clear, and no air traffic allowed on the planet, Fox had been content to hunker down with his Guards, watching over them as a dragon did their hoard.

But then the headcount had come back, with exactly one trooper missing.

Cardy. Of course. That little bastard couldn’t keep himself out of trouble if his life depended on it. And sure, their armor was fairly insulating and kept temperature-controlled, but none of that meant shit if a mountain of snow and ice was dropped on top of you, so the brat’s life really did depend on it this time.

The Jedi nodded thoughtfully, and held out a hand.

Fox raised a brow, but shook the man’s hand cautiously. Right now, he was playing a somewhat sketchy Vod on the run from his past, but not someone with much to hide.

“Understandable. My name is Mace Windu,” he said, squeezing Fox’s hand once before letting go. He had a faint smile on his face, a hidden humor. “It’s good to see a familiar face, even this far out into the stars.”
