idk how to word this but i think people (general) need to go back to being afraid of some animals. not to the point of violence against them, but where the fear breeds respect. that animal is wild, huge, and can seriously hurt you. it should be treated as such and not approached, manhandled, or cute-ified to the point where random people are invading its space because they figure they can be a disney princess in this situation. i often think about how people treat the bison in yellowstone national park. getting so close to them, sometimes even trying to ride them. you should be scared of that animal. you should be scared of moose. of hippos. because they are bigger and stronger than you. they're amazing, wonderful, fantastic animals. but they're not pets. and they're not cartoon characters; they're real creatures who deserve to be treated with dignity and not turned into memes or made uncomfortable by people getting too damn close to them

It depends on what you mean by explicit anon 🙂

GMMTV as a company has always been more "family-friendly" and essentially cater for the younger audience. I think it was @firstkanaphans who coined the term GMMTV BL/GL series as being the Disney version of gay shows and I'm inclined to agree.

Only Friends as a show was actually a step forward for the company (in terms of NC scenes) and to some extent, it was an experiment to see whether it will be accepted by GMMTV audience, which given the great success must be a relief for the directors (and to GMMTV who took the gamble).

Soon after that, if I'm not mistaken, GreatInn stated they watched OF scenes as inspiration for their NC scenes in Wandee Goodday (which I still think is super funny 😁).

Now, you do not put FirstKhaotung and JoongDunk in a show together and not expect amazing chemistry. So, I have no doubt we will have enough sexual tension to break a mountain (I am also expecting excellent make-out/kissing sessions from both couples, hehe)

Plus, these 4 have banger physique. We know JoongDunk are fit. With the amount of gym sessions that FirstKhaotung have been putting in for the last year and the way their biceps/shoulders are getting broader with each picture....you can be sure Jojo will capitalise on these - we will certainly be having all four boys shirtless at some point and perhaps even the boys just being in their boxers (at the very least, we already know we have Bison in his satin boxers lounging like a princess in bed 😂)

At the bare minimum, I think we will likely be seeing NC scenes similar to the level of OF and Wandee Goodday.

However, if you are expecting explicit scenes akin to KinnPorsche (or 4 minutes) where we see bare bottoms and more, I don't think so.

Having said that, I'm now almost 100% convinced we will be having The Heart Killers airing at iQIYI (otherwise, why do we have all four boys attending the iQIYI Thai 2025 celebration on 01/11/24?)...we might be having the cut/clean version on YT/usual GMM25 channel in Thai and the uncut version in IQIYI (where, who knows 🤷‍♀️? maybe Jojo and the THK team will venture beyond the boys being shirtless)

i feel like i have a bit of the reverse? of some city people's response to animals. i hear a lot of discussion in my internet circles of how many city people seem to not understand the dangers animals (especially large animals, domestic or wild, like cattle or bison or bears) can pose, the harm they can cause and how it's cuz if you grow up with minimal contact/experience/interaction with animals (that aren't little goopy eyed purse dogs) you end up internalizing that silly disney princess idea of "oh a random animal! im gonna get close and touch it" meanwhile i am. So Scared.

Yep. The same people will think a husky living in the texan suburbs left alone for 6 hours a day is living the dream life while denouncing working sled dogs as abused and neglected.

Ffs these people are so alienated from working DOGS that they see a lean one and immediately yell neglect just because it isn't obese. That's how disconnected they are from working animals.

There will always be bad people who work their animals to the point of abuse, or exploit them purely for profit in inhumane conditions (there are horror stories of tourist dogsledding companies, and of course the gambling empire built around horseracing where the animals are viewed as nonliving assets), but working animals actually enjoy working! It's what they were bred for, we selected those traits, and soo many pets go stir crazy when denied fulfillment of said instincts. But imo the first world has internalized the concept of work as miserable drudgery thanks to capitalism, and I think we project those feelings onto the animals we keep. that they must love this easy life in our living rooms and would actually find misery in work.

There's been studies measuring blood cortisol levels in horses before and after working and guess what, when done correctly they aren't distressed by pulling carriages, even in NYC!!

At worst this attitude can be downright harmful to vulnerable populations. For example, animal rights groups successfully petitioned to have horse carts banned from cities under the banner of welfare.

But these animal drawn carts are vital to Palestinians who have EXTREMELY restricted access to cars and certain roads by the apartheid government. This guise of humane animal rights can so often be weaponized against minorities. From the demeaning paternalistic attitude that these folk must not know what's best for them to actively sabotaging their culture by uprooting and destabilizing their way of life in an effort to assimilate them.

These people who say "just left machines do it" think it is by default the more humane option. Would you also goad on the systemic culling of Inuit sled dogs and replacement with snowmobiles that was pushed by the Canadian government in the mid 20th century? Do we really need more gas guzzling machines to replace something an animal can do better and also brings a sense of cultural fulfillment and connection to the world around us?

I'm sick of leftists who haven't left sheltered urban or suburban areas speaking on animal welfare and the relationships humans have with their animals when it's anything beyond a pet cat or dog. Wtf constitutes a useless animal!?? Shouldn't you be in Yellowstone larping as a Disney princess and harassing the bison? They are so disconnected from the rich history and culture humans share with our domestic animals.

I understand the stereotype of rich horse people but it's kind of gotten insane that anyone with a horse is now automatically seen as a landed gentry bourgeois so much so that people are straight up calling horses bourgeois creatures and calling for their ABOLISHMENT and even extinction like wtf is wrong with you. Don't let the era of the automobile erase the horses history as a beast of burden for the working class and farmers. Horses belong to the proletariat just as much if not more than the role of rich person's plaything.

So one way or another I ended up having a conversation with my sister in which it was pointed out that Belle and Mulan have quite a few similarities in their story despite occupying different roles in different kinds of stories.

Both, on some level, are odd people who don’t fit in with the space they occupy at the beginning. The main difference being that for Belle, this manifests as a restlessness with the town she’s living in and a desire to go elsewhere, and for Mulan, this manifests as general discomfort with herself and her position in her family.

The catalyst for both of them is that their father is in some kind of danger, and they do something to switch places with them. Belle makes a deal with the Beast to stay in the castle, and Mulan disguises herself as a man and takes her father’s place in the army.

Both of them ultimately find a place of belonging in their new environment, with Mulan becoming a war hero and getting new guy friends, and Belle fitting in at the castle far better than she ever did in her hometown.

But where their roles differ is that Mulan is the protagonist of what is arguably a coming-of-age story, as she grows into her own identity and finds her place in her social structure. Shan-Yu and the Huns may be the villains who are actively providing a threat and creating the situation in which she acts, and there are social structures in place which push against her, but the argument could be made that Mulan’s ultimate opponent is her own self-doubt. She repeatedly has to make the choice between her belief that she is worthless, and her desire to do the right thing, and because of this, we see her coming into her own over the course of the story, suffering setbacks, and then making the choice to alter her course and push on.

Belle, on the other hand, is an antagonist of a romance or a story about forgiveness. I say Belle is the antagonist not in a sense of being villainous or doing bad things, but in that she is the one who forces the change in the protagonist through opposing them. The Beast is the one who is changed by the narrative, and while he has to take an active role in changing himself, at least some of that is set up by Belle’s refusal to put up with his negative behaviors, particularly if they pose a danger to herself. Belle doesn’t really change all that much over the course of the narrative because her main problem was related to her environment.

And then, of course, there’s the romance aspect. For Mulan, the guy is just kind of an added bonus at the end. While she definitely checks him out during the beginning of the training montage, winding up with Li Shang is never her goal and is never presented as such. The implications of a relationship between them don’t really start until he visits her home in the final five minutes of the movie, and they seemingly begin exploring the possibility with her inviting him to stay for dinner. Again, this is not to say that the attraction isn’t there. She seems to find him attractive and there are implications that he is potentially attracted to her in both male and female form. But that attraction is not the focus of the movie, which, if it is a coming-of-age story for her, is to be expected. Relationships are a possible aspect of a coming-of-age story, not the entirety of it. 

Beauty and the Beast, on the other hand, is a romance story, with themes of forgiveness and self-improvement. The Beast becoming a better person, and he and Belle falling in love with each other is a major focus of the plot, since it’s kind of necessary for him to regain physical humanity. Though interestingly, the physical attraction may not be there as much in this case, at least from Belle’s end. In her video essay on Beauty and the Beast and Stockholm Syndrome, Lindsay Ellis notes that their relationship is sexless even for a Disney movie. I could get into headcanons about asexual demiromantic Belle, but part of this is also probably a byproduct of the story being about self-improvement and loving the person for who they are, not for who they appear to be. The attraction aspect takes a backseat to the self-improvement aspect. It is very definitely a romance, but one that is more relationship-focused than attraction-focused. (Which isn’t to say that the relationship in Mulan is all about physical attraction, because they’re definitely interested in who the other is as a person, just that the attraction part is a bit more apparent there.)

Essentially, in Mulan, the relationship is a byproduct of the story, while in Beauty and the Beast, it’s given more focus. In Beauty and the Beast, the theme of finding a place of belonging is more of a byproduct, while in Mulan, it’s a more apparent focus throughout. These are two characters who, despite similar goals and similar catalysts, end up on different journeys to achieve their best endings.

Which, admittedly, is probably not the conversation we were originally planning to have when my sister originally asked what I was watching.

State headcanons round 2!

- Minnesota, Mr. Land-of-a-Thousand-Lakes, is freckled all over. One freckle for each lake!

-Hawai’i does not mind pinapple on pizza. She does, however, mind that style being called “Hawaiian Pizza”. Pineapples are not indigenous to Hawai’i, and the style of putting it on pizza came from a Greek-Canadian. Do not bring the topic up around her, you WILL be humiliated. 

-Maine and Maryland enjoy having lunch together and tend to swap seafood recipies. Sometimes they invite Louisiana, but only when the feel like letting things go a little wild. 

-Illinois is missing a pinky from when he worked in Chicago in the meatpacking industry in the 1890′s. 

-Texas’ house (when not at the statehouse) is massive -- basically a mcmansion ranch decked out in just about every Texas thing you could imagine. But if you look in the smallest guest bathroom, you’ll see a noticably different decor -- bats. The animal. Pictures of them from floor to ceiling. This is Austin’s doing. (He’s got the bats that roost under the bridge and is home to Batcon International. He’s obsessed with them.) It drives Texas crazy, but the agreement was either that or a pride flag, and he’d rather burn brisket than do that.

-Arizona’s sleep cycle is wack. Aside from being one of the few states that doesn’t accept daylight savings time, he takes big siestas from 1-5pm to avoid the hottest times of the day. This infuriates everyone. 

-Nebraska and Iowa are buds with a rivalry that only they understand. Currently they are fighting about irrigation. Iowa has the upper hand because he has rain-fed corn while Nebraska has to use the Ogallala aquifer, which he mostly drained up. 

-California might be bi, but he believes himself to be an ally first and foremost. There’s nothing wrong with other people being gay. 

-Florida, New Mexico, and Puerto Rico speak Spanish the most fluently, but other states can speak it too! California and New York can hold conversations, Arizona and Colorado can understand when you’re talking shit about them, and Texas can speak it quite well, but with a god-awful accent. 

-Wyoming is somehow allowed to go into the off-limits-for-people section of Yellowstone. He spends his time in there petting bison like a disney princess.

-As a joke, the some northern states tried to convince the southern states that an ice scraper for your car was a sex toy. It worked. Alabama especially made a fool of himself trying to ban it.

-Nevada can do makeup, and do it well.

-The Gov feels... off... to the other states because he doesn’t represent a certain group of people or a certain area. At least the not-states like DC and Puerto Rico feel a sense of possesion and belonging among their people and land. They’re fine. The Gov is just an idea of organization and order. To the states, he feels like if someone didn’t have a shadow. Creepy.
