Marking the withdrawal of the class 323 electric multiple unit trains from service around the West Midlands, seeing as I couldn't be bothered to brave the rail replacement bus service between Gloucester & Birmingham yesterday to see the farewell railtour, I thought I'd share these two snaps from shortly after the announcement of the intended replacement of the 323s by the new class 720s, taken just seconds apart, as a pair of unidentified class 323s cross paths departing from and arriving into Birmingham New Street on Saturday 12 August 2022 while on my way to the Blists Hill Victorian Town Steam Weekend. I love getting these shots showing such a change of scene in such a short space of time.

An unusually bright corner of Birmingham New Street Station.

Today I had to change trains at Birmingham New Street. Whilst I love Birmingham, I do not share the same affection for Birmingham New Street Station which is so dark and depressing at platform level. Anyway I found this unusually bright corner so simply had to take a photograph because it looks absolutely nothing like Birmingham New Street Station!

having the most treacherous train journey it’s usually a 2ish hour train but and i’m currently 4 hours in and i have another hour wait for another two hour train

there are plenty of things/places in Birmingham that Unai would find beauty in I'm sure. especially if we consider the objectum headcanon. like, the canals, the overbridges, Witton station bridge, the spaghetti junction... Especially those unloved, faded, not cool places.
