Playlist 100 ask: Matt & Skull x Billy (because I am spinning my wheels here)

I’d recommend this entire album for this btw. This is all interconnected.

Matt and Billy were polar opposites. Matt was a jock, open and outgoing, speaking whatever was on his mind, with zero filters, no matter how it’d affect anyone in front of him. Billy, on the other hand, came in the category of science nerds. He was closed and reserved. He seldom spoke what was on his mind, preferring to stay silent in places where he knew it’d be better for himself if he spoke up.

They had absolutely nothing in common.

Except Eugene Skullovitch, probably. Which was causing their very separate words to collide, every now and then. And messing Skull up in the process.

One of the most awkward moments of Skull’s entire life, happened to be that movie. Something about a car jumping over another car which was jumping over another car… or something.

Not like he was paying attention.

Officially he was dating Matt. However official it could get in the way they were keeping it, at least, because Skull kept saying they needed to keep their feelings out of it. And unofficially, he could see Billy burning around in jealousy which he didn’t even know when or where had been brought into existence.

Arguments with Billy. Him “borrowing” Matt’s shoes— much larger than his own size— and walking like five miles in them through mud and water and sewers to ruin them completely. Matt being overly protective, probably understanding all the animosity towards himself.

Who knew Billy would get this possessive or even… jealous.

And while Matt and Billy both trying to hold Skull’s hand in the movie at every car crash, and yelling loudly at each other for finishing the Red Bull or hogging the pop corn, was all super embarrassing… Eugene couldn’t help but admit this to himself: he was actually enjoying it.

Anara/J.J. Oliver

The Mother Figure: That would be both of them, actually. They're both very feminine and it shows off in their parenting style. The Father Figure: ....but when needs must, J.J. goes in for the whole 'pump the kid up' type thing.

Who's Stricter: Well, considering that Anara and J.J. are only together because Anara is a responsible and good friend who went looking after J.J. when he wouldn't answer her calls in a dangerous situation, the answer to that is kinda obvious.

Describe the kids/household: Neither of them were in the biggest hurry to start a family, and they're both trans, so it would have been considerably more difficult the natural way...but then fate intervened and they ended up adopting an orphan from Eltar that J.J. found when dealing with an inter-planetary trafficking ring. A little girl whose mother died waiting for her to be returned and who had no other family. Anara and J.J. had been dating for five years and were contemplating just signing the piece of paper so they wouldn't have to go through the hassle of e ceremony--but then they ended up applying for emergency foster license. Kat and Tommy approved instantly and helped them place a deposit for a little cottage property outside of Angel Grove.

Coinless Bulk/Slayer Kim

The Mother Figure: Bulk The Father Figure: Kim

Who's Stricter: 50/50

Describe the kids/household: Bulk has basically taken in every stray child, teenager, young adult, and injured party that's come into the protection of the Coinless over Drakkon's entire reign. There are a good dozen or so twenty-something kids that see this man as their rock and their fortress, but there's a particular young woman from the Mystic Realm that would have been the next Guardian if little Clare hadn't been whisked into Bulk's arms an hour after she was born. Kimberly would never try and assert her authority as new world leader on a barely sixteen year old, but sometimes she wishes she could. Especially since Clare is a TOTAL daddy's girl and is infinitely suspicious of the new/old woman in their lives.

The Mother Figure: Skull & Billy The Father Figure: Matt

Who's Stricter: Billy, 90% of the time.

Describe the kids/household: Being a teen parent through the worst kind of forced pregnancy imaginable, with no support network and getting thrown out by his poor excuse for a mother, Skull really didn't think he'd even be able to keep little Spike. But then he got picked up out of the gutter because Billy heard all about it and Matt heard the screaming through Promethea's halls. Billy got the money for a small house by selling a patent for his flying car, Matt made sure Skull and Spike were covered by his insanely good medical insurance, and basically decided to set Skull up for his music writing career while being a stay at home parent. Which THEN fell into the three of them dating and eventually forming a polyamorous partnership with a ceremony amongst friends; with tiny three year old Spike carrying the partner bands.

It really did seem like a good idea at the time. It really felt like Billy and Matt could have a breather between Junior Year and Senior Year spending the summer not at Promethea proper, constantly reliving Grace's death and everything that went wrong during Dark Specter's invasion, but with Terona in the Coinless dimension actually making sure they had aid in getting back into the twenty-first century.

They were on call for their usual Ranger missions, of course, but it felt better just to be away from their version of Angel Grove for a while; away from the guilt, and the shame, and the echoes of a ghost that none of them could seem to forget any time soon.

And it did work, for a while. Billy getting to know this version of Trini and Zack--and even Jason when he came down from his tower--a little better, Matt aiding in the relief and building with his hands alongside Kim and Bulk and Kiya--given that she refused to behave and go back to the Prime universe. Both Billy and Matt felt rather secure now that Drakkon was dead and they really felt like they were making a difference.

Of course, Finster had been ripped apart by the zombies that had very little memory of their transformation once they were turned back, so Terona spent about eighty percent of his time with the only two people that seemed to know anything about the crumbled Command Center and Drakkon's secret places in the palace, and what Finster left behind in his labs. Scorpina with her ability to read most alien dialects, and Skull who knew...basically everything else.

...But.

The joy was tempered an awful lot by the awareness both Billy and Matt had that they clearly made Kim and Eugene deeply uncomfortable; with a phrase by Vincent van Gogh ringing amongst them, but with different meaning depending on who they were with.

"If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now."

Which wouldn't have been so awful if Terona wasn't so curious as to what their relationships were like with the younger versions back home. It almost made Matt feel like he'd dodged a bullet whereas it made Billy feel like jumping out of a window.

And even if there was a tiny snowball’s chance in hell they did believe that, I don’t have any proof.
