And the start of the book reminded me of the couple in TLOU

My boyfriend makes memes and then I post them. He’s the meme machine. I just cried really hard.

the shot at the end when joel and ellie are driving away through the open bedroom window, how it slowly pans further and further back into the room but it doesn't invade bill and frank's privacy of their final moments together...

I have never cried that fucking hard over a show in years.
I fully FULLY support the divergence of this episode, it was a phenomenal example of adapting source material in a way that feels like “oh yeah this is what actually happened they just didn’t have time in the game for all of this holy shit”.
They expanded on the frankly easy to ignore implications of the game and showed us that life can still be even in the midst of fear and uncertainty and apathy and FUCKING EVERYTHING, they showed us goodness and survival out of love because THAT is what The Last Of Us is about.
Death is horrific and sudden and will rob you blind with nothing to salvage; but it isn’t always that. Death is also kind, even forgiving. “Satisfying”, in the words of Bill. Frank wasn’t brutalized this time around, Bill wasn’t left alone to his prior demons. We got to see a side of this universe that hasn’t been portrayed thus far and it wasn’t twenty years of violent tragedy.
It was twenty years of two men enduring and surviving together in a world that had gone to shit, but they still took the leap and held hands while they fell. Everything else, the journey to the bottom, came after and it came painlessly.

We got to see how different Bill is from Frank. Yes, Frank is nicer than Bill. But Bill is also mechanically a genius. He rebuilt the whole town to work with wired fences, electricity, traps. He is practical. Frank is so artistic: painting, rebuilding shops, a lover of music and piano. There was just enough put into the show that characterized and differentiated them. But not too much that the story would’ve felt forced, or overtly stereotypically romantic. We got to see how they showed love for each other; Bill cooked, built a literal stronghold to protect Frank from outsiders and infected. Bill’s goal was to KEEP FRANK ALIVE and loved inwardly. Frank grew strawberries and created artwork, wanted to rebuild the bare bones of a town into something flourishing with life and friends. Frank wanted to nurture and love outwardly. Ultimately, it was a testament of the fact that the work, energy, time, efforts you put into loving a person is worth the pain of losing them. Which is why Bill’s greatest fear was dying and leaving Frank alone.
It was a perfect amount of romance, beats, action, connection to Joel and Tess. It revealed the truth of love. There are arguments, but they resolved them in a healthy manner. Like the scene when Frank busts out of the house and Bill takes a deep breath and recollects himself. This is television PEOPLE!!!

Can’t believe this one-off line in the game was adapted into such a beautifully depressing love story

"Older means we're still here."
This episode of The Last Of Us legitimately fixed something in me that I didn't know was broken.

I think Logan and Wade should have dinner with Bill and Frank from The Last of Us. Just out of curiosity, to see what happens

Bill would absolutely tell Frank they’re not going to adopt a dog only for Frank to bring one home and Bill immediately forms the closest bond and attachment to it
