Kanto+Johto are based on Japan regions, right? So their language would be Japanese (or an equivalent in Pkmn world). Therefore, Lance's first language is Japanese.

Galar is UK, so they speak English, but with a British accent, right? It's confirmed in Pokemasters.

(just like Unova is USA so they probably have an American accent)

Lance, in the anime, said he travelled to Galar, so we can assume he speaks English. Fluently? That's up to you.

Do you think he would speak with a "Galarian accent"? My HC is that he does, because he acquired an accent due to spending time in the region, having to communicate with the locals etc..

Another HC is that Johto and Kanto have different dialects.

My answer personally is no. Seeing that Lance was born and raised in Johto, I doubt that he would pick up on the the Galarian accent from visiting, but perhaps his voice may slip from time to time and the accent might come out a bit.

But I do like when people portrayals with a bit of an English accent, not a strong one, but just the hint of one.

However, I can see how Lance would pick up some of the Galar dialect and slang.

Imagine Lance getting upset and muttering something like, "Balderdash..." And the person next to him raises an eyebrow like, 🇬🇧❓

I'm sure someone has written this before, but what if Lance alternates between English and Spanish but it all sounds like English to the other Paladins because of the magical lion translations. And then one day Hunk or Pidge asks Lance why he doesn't speak Spanish as much anymore and he's just like "What do you mean? I'm speaking Spanish right now. You're speaking Spanish right now." And that's how they find out that the translators have been putting half of everything they say to Lance into Spanish.

i shouldn’t be surprised to find myself drawn to this ship… i’ve wanted to incorporate it into my au for awhile!!! i really like these two confident girls together (in harmony or argument; you must know by now that the ships that i like aren’t usually pure fluff eheh).

disgust, despite her practical application and razor-sharp eye for social politics, is actually a very romantic person (judging by her interest in that guy lance slashblade or flashblade i forget. he’s only important because he aids in disgust’s characterization). even though she can be haughty and stuck-up, she is still the kind of girl to daydream, drawn to the tall and handsome, (sorry fear. you’re handsome but you aren’t all that tall…) and also to complex heroism.

i think that disgust would ascribe that same kind of romanticization to ennui’s laziness - disgust might view ennui as some sort of pure, languorous beauty, her apathy a manifestation of poetic (and thus attractive) unhappiness.

this is not realistic, my darling disgust. ennui in actuality is just a bum, and she is happy to be one (although she is at least standing up a little straighter towards the end of io2). ennui answers questions as briskly and brusquely as possible. ennui takes naps in the middle of work. ennui unabashedly criticizes riley’s uncool friends (and she certainly has the right… ENNUI IS THE ONLY “COOL” CHARACTER IN THE IO FRANCHISE. Everyone else has some form of neuroticism. EHEH). ennui doesn’t brush her hair all that regularly, but it’s still long, silky, and flowing around her shoulders and sweater. ennui the only bilingual in the cast. She’s a part of two worlds. Beautiful. Ennui, i self insert as every character in inside out just to get closer to you.

Je venais de quitter ma mère au téléphone lui disant que j'allais certainement rentrer à l'auberge ou bien me faire un trajet de métro et rentrer à pieds (j'adore me faire des tours de métro sachez-le).

Dans la station, je remarque un garçon qui m'a interpellé : son charme, ses nombreux tatouages et ce qu'il dégageait. J'écris directement à une amie "Je viens de trouver l'amour de ma vie, il est juste à coter de moi". Le métro arrive, peu de place on se serre tous, lui et moi comprit. Deux stations plus loin le métro se vide un peu, je savais que j'avais beaucoup de temps devant moi avant le terminus alors je décide de sortir mon livre "Rêveries du promeneur solitaire" de Rousseau. Je le vois se pencher, tentant de lire le titre. Alors, tout naturellement je lui montre ce que je lis. Puis il me dit "Tu lis ça pour la fac ou pour les cours" EN FRANÇAIS ? Je lui réponds que c'est pour le plaisir, lui me dit que personne ne lit du Rousseau pour le plaisir, que ce n'est pas possible.

On commence désormais à faire connaissance, me demandant qu'est-ce que je fais dans un métro à Vienne et à cette heure-ci (il devait être 21h30). On discute pendant deux trois arrêts jusqu'à que le chauffeur annonce que le métro a un soucis et que nous sommes tous obligés de descendre à la prochaine station. On se dit que c'est le destin, qu'on doit continuer cette conversation. Alors, on marche, on parle de nos vies, de nos auteurs préférés, de nos lectures.

On tombe sur un bar, par chance il fermait dans 30 min mais on a pu quand même commander. Heureusement, cet inconnu parle français car sa mère est née en France, qu'il a été au lycée français à Vienne et qu'il avait fait deux ans de prépa à Paris. Mais ce qui voulait dire qu'il était bilingue allemand (merci la vie j'en pouvais plus de commander et de commander en anglais surtout). Dès qu'on s'assoit, il sort son carnet et écrit directement la date du jour, mon prénom, la ligne de métro où on s'est rencontrés et écrit "couleur de cheveux inconnu" (nous n'avions pas réussit à déterminer si j'étais rousse ou si j'avais les cheveux rouges).

Je passe les détails sinon ce post ferait 10000 lignes. On finit par partir du bar, on marchait et il me lance un "Mais en fait on est dans Before Sunrise, on vit un rêve Leyan, je suis sûr que demain quand on va se lever rien de tout ça n'aura exister". Je lui avoue que je n'ai jamais vu ce film, film qui raconte l'histoire de deux inconnus qui se rencontrent dans le train et l'américain demande à la française si elle veut rester avec lui à Vienne le temps d'une nuit. C'était totalement nous, sauf que nous, l'amour était platonique. Comme il m'a dit "C'est la rencontre de nos deux âmes, pas de nos deux corps". Et, je pense que c'est la chose la plus merveilleuse que nos corps ne se soit pas rencontrés. De toute façon, on ne c'est pas parler pour se draguer. C'était spéciale.

Finalement, on se décide d'aller regarder le film dans le hall de mon auberge. Trop de bruits. Il réserve une chambre privative juste pour qu'on regarde le film. On a parler durant tout le film, on coupait le film pour se dire que par moment c'était vraiment nous. Après l'avoir vu, on s'est demandés "Et qu'est-ce qu'on fait quand le soleil va se lever ?". On a beaucoup réfléchit, on s'est dit que le meilleur moyen de continuer ce rêve ce n'était pas de prendre nos contacts. Juste un rendez-vous après ses examens de médecine. Il m'a écrit un poème de Pablo Neruda en espagnol, pour me montrer que je n'ai pas rêver de cette rencontre juste spectaculaire. Personnellement, je lui ai laissé une petite lettre, le remerciant d'avoir une âme aussi pure et saine. On avait l'impression de se connaître depuis toujours et en même temps pas du tout c'était très étrange. Je l'ai laissé dormir, je suis partie au lever du soleil. J'espère qu'il a prit mon message, qu'il a prit cette lettre. J'espère qu'il va venir au rendez-vous. Si un de nous deux ne peut pas finalement, on s'est dit qu'on allait se recroiser un jour de façon anodine, c'était sûr et certain. J'ai quand même mit à la fin de ma lettre "Et si on ne se revoit pas, souviens toi que tu as un visage pour être aimé". Car, c'est totalement vrai. Cet inconnu à un visage pour être aimé (et puis aussi lui rappeler qu'il doit lire du Paul Eluard).

any tips on getting charactarisation right! i want to write keith and lance but you dont have to talk about them specifically!

ummm!!! i dont really have many since i feel like i struggle with characterization sometimes But nevertheless. these will probably be klance specific but ill try n slip some general ones in

having seen voltron front to back is definitely a must. getting a good grasp on how theyve progressed throughout the entire series is KEY to writing their characters.

acknowledge their flaws!!! seeing things that are key to characters be erased because its a “negative” trait is so upsetting. sometimes theyre going to react badly! thats just being human. let them learn and then live.

this one is something i’ve had to work on but having an understanding of how they talk. if they drop letters, if they have an accent that’s easily recognizable, if they speak a second language. the words they use and HOW they use them are just as important to characterization as the color of their eyes.

continuing with second languages since i know lance is often written bilingual, sometimes its a very fine line to walk. if you can ask a native speaker for help, great! if not, ask around or lean away from it. but if you can, allow them to speak their second language because it often lends to the character speaking truer feelings.

it's set in the 1930's

the capulets and montagues are prominent crime families initially in italy

r&j plays out as it does in canon, and from there &j plays out as well, up until the wedding

after the wedding the main &j gang work to essentially stop capulet jobs before they can succeed - plus, they're trying to find out may's fate

eventually, the capulets move to America and set up in new jersey (there's a town there called verona and i find that funny)

juliet:

the capulet's only child, she grew up thinking a lot of Family business was normal/okay

she has a really strong relationship with may and angelique because she saw them more than her own parents

she genuinely loved romeo, and he made her feel really seen - romeo was someone in the same place she was, who understood how she was trapped

juliet fakes her death as she does in r&j, but her parents catch the friar and he reveals the poison is fake. the capulets use this as an opportunity to threaten romeo into disappearing. when juliet wakes up, they tell her he killed himself

the marriage to francois is arranged by the capulets as a way to get a foot in the door in french politics

after her parents take may, juliet loses a lot of her optimism/hope

she and romeo have a wedding in a casino in vegas

10. Is there a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

maybe we got lost (in translation) a thousand times over. Beyond the fact that it is my second fic that has broken the 100 kudos barrier which is already insane to me cause I did not expect anyone to read it since its a niche ship imo, the way people see the fic is so different from the way I saw it as I wrote it. For me it is a fic mainly about language and communication and how it changes based on who we talk with. Also specifically Esteban's relationship with English is very much based on my own experience with it, from being thrown into an English-speaking group and told to swim to English slipping in even when he is speaking in a different language ('the language spoken is a mess of French and English') Meanwhile at least from comments people see the relationship between Esteban and Lance way more strongly than I do. Which fair, it was partially written as a love letter to my bilingual friends who try to understand me even when my brain does not comprehend language and in hindsight I sometimes ignored the language part in favor of developing their friendship so I can see where they are coming from. And the fic is tagged as estelance so... lol Essentially what I am trying to say here is that people focused on way more on a part I considered secondary than I did while writing it, but I can see why. Also I've gotten so many nice comments on it and even tho I forgot to respond to them I do reread them on the regular because they spark so much joy (also first time someone whose writing I enjoy commented on my fic and it sent me for a loop lol)

Anyway i do have this. A race engineer!Oscar AU Loscar in which Logan has never been normal about anything related to Oscar. Ever. Starring Logan as a pining mess, Oscar as the calm and collected love interest and Fred, Alex, and Liam as the victims of Logan's pining

“Good morning Logan.” Oscar says as a first thing on the first day of testing over the radio and Logan returns back to his thoughts of screaming, almost vibrating out of his seat in excitement. Goes back to his year old promise of not doing anything stupid ten seconds into the season. Hopes that when the cameras catch his inevitable joy after he gets back to the garage it will be brushed off to just being glad to be back in the car, rather than anything else. As a worst case scenario, he will just put up the Alex Albon patented peace signs because those always somehow make pictures so much more grounded and Alex is really onto something there, Logan needs to study it. He will need it for this year. Probably. Maybe. Most likely. It's fine. It's, whatever. It's definitely not that Logan also spends so much time looking at Oscar in meetings that Fred has noticed. It's definitely not that Fred, with all the subtlety he has, cornered Logan in his drivers room and unceremoniously asked what gives two days into the season. Logan deserved that one probably. When Logan tries to brush him off, it seemingly works because Fred lets himself be brushed off, does not mind Logan redirecting the conversation onto another topic instead. Logan does not know what actually awaits him days later. It's Liam this time, who corners him a few days later, after testing, after the first race weekend of the year properly starts, right after the last free practice before qualifying. Being Formula Two teammates must have done something to their understanding of personal space between each other because Liam waltzes into his driver's room like he owns the place without even knocking. Logan has a half mind to kick him out just for that, force him to knock before entering.

is it a common headcanon for the blackthorn people to have a sacred second name (which is basically their japanese names)? because it's my favorite headcanon.

People of Johto in general to me are all at least bilingual. Blackthorn refers to to Lance as Wataru as default/in a formal clan setting unless a non-native is around and then it's usually Lance. He doesn't mind being called either one. Pick your favorite. :-)

Same goes to Clair as well! Switches off and on from Clair or Ibuki! She sort of flinches when hearing anyone other than the Elders or Lance call her Ibuki because they usually yell that name at her when she's in trouble. 💀
