The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
#also idk how to tell you this but even if it were true. wealthy children potentially sacrificing their educational careers to protest is#a good thing actually. idk how to tell you that caring about people from other nations is good#personal#“this war has nothing to do with most students cuz nobody's getting drafted” idk how to explain to you that we should be angry#that our tuitions of 10s of thousands of dollars that we pay every year for an education is being used to fund a genocidal campaign#also the implication that if you go to a uni institution you are automatically privileged by participation no matter your bg#i didn't /want/ to go to this school. i was supposed to go to a school with an art/animation program. but i realized my immigrant#parents have been working their whole lives to get me here. and turning the opportunity down would be a disservice to their sacrifice#this is getting into convos of “what 2nd gen kids owe their parents” which is different for everyone but. yeah#i just get pissed off at seeing people misrepresenting student bodies as “wealthy” and “privileged” and “elite” when it's such a blatant li#i remember a year ago a friend told me they can't fly home to hong kong for winter break because the plane tickets are too expensive#so they have to find temporary housing around the area#last quarter for a film doc class my film partner made a doc on a small group of marxist grad students from india discussing praxis#during a rally a few months ago in response to police presence the coalition invited palestinian students to speak about their experiences#and lead songs and read poems they wrote. these are STUDENTS. are they elitist too?#this is not to disregard my own personal privilege either.#this whole narrative's just to rationalize a lack of empathy to me. seeing a 19yo student get shot by a rubber bullet and your first#reaction is “HAW! HAW! bet richy rich didn't see THAT coming when she put on her terrorist hood!”#newsflash. these big uni campuses are HAUNTED by the violence of past protests and revolutions and police brutality. we know.#why do you think these coalitions have been making reinforced barricades at record speed

Do you think maybe you could do some Pyro? I think we need more of them! Perhaps some Scout/Pyro? If you feel like it :3c
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't usually ship pyro with the others because I always saw their relationship with pyro as a familial bond but if I were to ship pyro with someone it would be scout. as long as scout gets over his terror with some exposure therapy i think he'd find they have a lot of shared interests. Scout needs someone who doesn't talk a lot, he needs air to fill.
i love pyro my beautiful anypronoun agender friend

more of this, which i'm calling exes with detriments until i find the right heartbreak song to nab a lyric from (what shh i know myself)
Buck tries, is the thing. He really, really tries. Well, first he gets drunk on Eddie's couch and spends the night staring at the ceiling.
Then he tries. Because he can't get Tommy's face out of his head, the quiet devastation in his eyes as he left the loft, left Buck behind. So he calls. Tommy doesn't answer, but then Buck didn't really expect him to. He's kind of proud of the message he leaves - he doesn't beg, but he lays it out nice and clear: we had a good thing going, we care about each other, you said something dumb and hurtful but this isn't the way you end a six month relationship. Talk to me, please.
He doesn't hear anything back, and his next message a week later is a little less composed: seriously, Tommy? Don't you think you owe me a single conversation where you haven't just fucking blindsided me? Okay, okay, maybe moving in together was too fast, and I-I-I spooked you, or whatever, but Tommy, please. We need to talk about this.
Still nothing.
He enlists a reluctant Eddie, who he knows is doing his best to be Switzerland, but who he also knows is loyal to him first and foremost. Eddie reports back with a shrug.
"He won't talk about it with me."
"God, what the - okay. Okay, so how does he seem?"
"I don't know, Buck. He seems like Tommy. A little quiet, a little tired."
Buck's frozen for a moment because what the fuck? He's coming apart at the seams and Tommy is a little quiet?
"Okay," he says. "Okay. Thanks for trying."
So Buck blows the lid off things, and goes to Tommy's house. There's no truck in the driveway, no answer when he knocks. He knows Tommy's not on shift though, so he sits in the Jeep outside the house for an hour and thirty seven minutes. That's how long it takes for him to hear the growl of Tommy's truck. He breathes out slowly. Okay. He's doing this. He's going to make Tommy hear him out, he's not going to let their last memories of each other be - be that fucking mess.
Except Tommy - Buck can hardly believe it - Tommy sees the Jeep. He sees Buck. They make fucking eye contact. And then Tommy just…keeps driving. Right past Buck, right past his own house, turns left at the end of his own street and disappears.
For a second there's nothing but roaring static in Buck's ears. And then, you fucking asshole, he thinks. You cowardly fucking asshole.
Buck drives home and he's so mad. He's so fucking mad. He grabs everything Tommy had left here over the months, every gift Tommy had given him, every photo of the two of them, the faded Dodgers shirt he's been wearing to sleep in because it still just about smells like Tommy, the fucking Lakers tickets. He shoves in the book on the history of the helicopter that he'd read before the tour of Harbor so he'd have something to talk about with the guy he was so inexplicably obsessed with without knowing why, the receipt from the first time Tommy actually let him buy the beers, the ticket stubs from the shows they went to at the Bowl, all the little pieces of them that Buck didn't think twice about hanging onto because he thought they meant something, he thought they were the start of something.
He excises Tommy from every inch of the loft and doesn't give himself time to think about how he'll regret this when he calms down, just throws himself into the Jeep, the box onto the passenger seat, and drives back towards Tommy's. He's going to leave the box on the doorstep and hope it gets stolen or trashed by raccoons or there's a flash flood and Tommy comes home to a shredded cardboard box and some waterlogged memories.

SEEDS Security Codes and Why They Matter
Tumblr media
So, I've been thinking about one of the details in Trigun: Stampede that was not present in either '98 or the manga. In '98, Knives just hacking into the SEEDS codes was left as-is. He walked up to Captain Joey and shot him and apparently took his pilot's seat. Did the Captain have the navigation open at the time? Was it closed and Knives had to do some hacking? Anyway, there, he did it on his own. Now, in Trigun Maximum, which treats Vash and Knives' childhood differently (just Rem there raising them), there is a foreshadowing of what is to come. In Volume 6, Rem is depicted waking up to an emergency signal in the middle of her sleeping-hours. (Aw, she sleeps in her regular clothes, mom-jeans and all...). Panicked, she yells at Knives for him and Vash to lock themselves in their rooms and not to come out or speak up for ANY reason, even if they hear voices outside. She tries to handle the situation, but it goes from bad to worse and the automatic crew-wakening protocol goes into effect, which she is very concerned about (for reasons that we who have read the manga know about)!
Tumblr media
In the beginning of Volume 7 the crew wakes up, there's a situation-update. The ships are going off-course and will collide if things are not corrected. They're working through the issues and suddenly, there's an unknown factor that kicks in to correct the course. Rem then gets the crew all settled back in again for nappy-time... And proceeds immediately to Vash and Knives, where she scolds Knives with (Rem's angry mom-face, my beloved)! Knives was playing around with the ship codes and systems. He'd apparently hacked his way into the system and was curious about SEEDS' functions. (One would assume that Rem changed some of the codes after this, but I bet they were in some kind of hacking-war, with her trying to stay one step above curious Plant-twins). Knives did not mean to nearly cause a catastrophe, but this shows that he can and is a foreshadowing to when he DOES mean to cause one later. Now, in Trigun Stampede, it is stated by Nai / Knives that Vash gave him the ship-codes, also that he spent a lot of time and trouble changing the codes for every human ship. (The manga lists the ship they are born on as the Mothership, presumably guiding the entire fleet, in Stampede, it is just Ship 5, which implies multiple guides with multiple navigators). I am wondering where Studio Orange is going with this. Will it be a situation like the manga where the kids are just playing around? Little prank-war with Rem? Maybe Vash is sharing a ship code innocently, as part of their games? Or is it going to be darker, more sinister? I wonder if Vash was originally of the thought of "maybe we need to crash the ships and kill all humans (except Rem) because they're scary and dangerous because of what happened to Tesla" and then had a change of heart and backed out of it? - I can see that happening... him having his cathartic alone-time with Rem as in the manga and then talking things out with Nai and thinking that they weren't going to go through with it. And then Nai betrays him. I've been wondering about the guilt Vash carries over the Big Fall in Stampede. Is it an unnecessary, undue guilt like he seems to have about a lot of things? Or is there a guilt born from "I had originally planned disaster / we had originally planned disaster" and it came true even after he'd backed out? It's just that... in both '98 and Maximum, he does carry his cross (that is not Wolfwood's), but he seems to feel less specifically guilty over this (the Big Fall). He's really more like "Knives, how could you do this to everyone / Rem?!" He just seems more guilt-ridden in Stampede than in the other media and I am wondering if there is a dark secret behind it. I can see it going either way.

Concerts in 2025..... and ticket prices...
Without revealing too much about myself, I'll just say that when I first began going to concerts, I didn't have to go into debt.... The concert ticket was about the cost of a couple of albums. Yeah.
When I started poking around online to see what astronomical amounts people are paying to go see Hoseok, I'll admit that I was thinking something around $300 USD or so. And, THAT is astronomical, in my opinion.
So when I saw that people are paying more than twice that amount, I was beyond shocked. AND, disgusted. Disgusted because many ARMYs are willing to pay that amount even though they cannot afford it. AND, management knows that. AND, management does NOT care.
Hobi does not need the income. He's already a multi-millionare who does not have to work another day in his life, if he chose not to. Just like all BTS members. None of them need to earn money to keep a roof over their heads, or to keep food on their tables. Unlike many of us who call ourselves ARMY....
So where does the line fall, when it comes to WHO is accountable for those astronomical ticket prices?
That is a big question.
I don't have an answer, but I do have an opinion. Those are two different things....
It's not just Hobi's concerts, it's actually all mega-artists world-wide. Included are the Taylors, the Gagas, the Cold Plays, and all of the performers out there who are wealthy beyond measure, who continue to sign the dotted lines on contracts for these events, without making any stipulations to keep tickets affordable for the fans.
Am I the only one who refuses to put herself into more debt, to buy a ticket to attend a 2-hour event that I would also have to fly to, and also book hotel rooms too??? AND, feed myself? Where is the line?
Maybe it is because I am a self-supporting woman who works and spends every penny supporting herself in life. Maybe. I'm well beyond that age of living at "home" with parents or such.
Maybe it is because I can see how HYBE and BIG HIT as well as any other major company in the industry know how to literally milk fans for every dollar possible, all while making it look like fans/ARMYs are helping the performers, or are somehow fans/ARMYs are able to be closer to the performer in some distorted way... Just look at how they have monetized BTS content. Look at how much they produce now and put behind a pay wall... I'm thinking about those "documentaries" that have been in theatres, on Weverse, and on Disney +, all the books and merch...
Yeah. I'm a bit over the extreme ways that those management companies impose monetary burdens on fans, and they do so in really manipulative ways that fans can't even see.
So I'm guessing that what we will see next year when BTS's comback tour is announced will be ticket prices that will be far beyond what is reasonable. I mean, we are seeing it with Hobi's tour. And, in my very opinionated opinion, it is insanity.
Of course I would jump in a heartbeat to go see them, IF the tickets were fairly priced. And, I mean fairly. I mean, literally less than $100... If they are filling a stadium multiple nights (4 nights as an example) with 80,000 fans, that is still a lot of money for the event. ($32,000,000)
Until people start to speak out about this, and to take action with their wallets, the tickets will continue to spiral up in price. Sad as it is. If ARMYs just go along with it, believing that they are somehow supporting Bangtan, nothing will change.
Unless someone like Namjoon takes a stand, we won't see anything change. If anyone in K-Pop could start to turn the tide, it is Kim Namjoon.
Anyway.... I've splattered my thoughts here in this post.... it's kind of raw, and it is definitely unfiltered (classic Aries)... lol... I'm just tired of seeing fans taken advantage of, in the name of "fandom". No matter who or what the performer/group is.
I'm done giving my hard-earned money away to companies that just want to milk every penny they can. Especially when prices are not fair.
Yeah. I'm done.
