WHERE THE RAINDROPS FALL - PT.1
Disclaimer: I do not own Maliksi and Makisig and other Planet Puto characters that are occasionally mentioned. Full Credit to the character and art goes to HC - @ask-emilz-de-philz Please check out their blog for amazing art and the wonderful world of Planet Puto. All involved characters in any suggestive situations within the story are adults.
TW: Maliksi has a foul mouth ((which is nothing new, really))
A/N: Agwa is my OC, she's a Naga. The Philippine Naga lore originated in Bicol and they are fresh water mermaids, but instead of having fish tails, they have the lower body of a water snake or eel and the upper body of a human female. In Philippine folklore and mythology, they are often described as having an alluring face, curvaceous body and long flowing hair. They are fond of children, but very vicious to adults. They are also known to be extremely curious that they usually take human form to explore their surroundings. They bring rain, and thus fertility, but are also thought to bring disasters such as floods and drought.
Maliksi hates humans and no one is an exception, not even children who occasionally get lost along the moonlit forest path the tamawo usually prowls at night.
"Great. A snotty little human brat." Maliksi muttered underneath his breath as he looked down the crying girl who is slumped into the forest floor, hands clasping her dress as if to soothe herself.
The kid looked up at him, her face stained with tears as she tried wiping off her runny nose using her dress.
"Annoying little brat is too dumb to speak. And your parents must also be very stupid to lose you at this time of the night." The tamawo scoffed, clearly annoyed at the kid who is still too young to be speaking full sentences. "Humans are such idiots, and you will grow up to be the same-"
Maliksi fell silent when a minasbad was suddenly pressed into his neck with just enough pressure that he knew he won't be liking the outcome incase he moves an inch. His eyes were met with two ruby orbs glinting with pure displeasure as he looked up to a taller figure infront of him. Her hair is eerily beautifully long and curly- flowing down her shoulders and cascading down her back like the gentle first rain on an afternoon of June.
"Shut. the. fuck. up." The words came out of those pretty lips, not as a simple request but rather a threat.
Everything went quiet that Maliksi is sure he can hear a single pin drop at this moment- that is until he hears the nearby river's current, slowly building up into a raging pace. This was the very first time some woman spoke to him in such cold tone. And for the very first time, Maliksi felt his heart beating out of his chest in pure adrenaline- was he scared? No, he can't be. Intimidated? By a woman, impossible, right? Unless-
It didn't took long before Maliksi was able to put two and two together, realizing he is now face to face with a naga in human form and in the worst situation possible. The naga are known to be extremely fond and protective of human children and Maliksi was caught red handed not being exactly kind to one.
Maliksi quickly extended his claws but the naga's minasbad has definitely at an advantageous range against him.
"You're...tiny for a tamawo."
This is another first time- usually Maliksi was the one throwing insults and taunting someone he's facing and not the other way around.
Agwa tilted her head as she curiously examined Maliksi, trailing her eyes along his form, looking him up and down before softly chuckling and withdrawing her blade from his neck, realizing he isn't much of a threat and it wouldn't be worth it to get in a fight infront of an already frightened human kid.
The naga then turned around and picked up the child who has now stopped sobbing. Agwa started softly humming and within seconds of hearing the naga's enchanted voice, the girl was sleeping soundly on her arms as she tenderly and protectively cradle her.
"Excuse me?!" The tamawo scoffed as he covers his ears, not wanting to risk his chances against the naga's song, but still looking very appalled and offended from the her remark about his height.
Agwa smirked as she looks down on Maliksi. "You're tiny. I thought tamawos are supposed to be tall so girls will fawn over them."
" And I thought you fishies belong on the water and not here! You human wannabes-" Maliksi retorted.
Agwa raised a brow as she looked down on Maliksi. The raging currents of the nearby river quickly rising.
She clenched her fists before taking a deep breath to calm herself down but it's not exactly working. "Careful now, boy." She spoke in a tone that sent shivers down Maliksi's spine.
He is not liking the way his mind reacts to Agwa. He is not one to feel intimidated by anyone, but hearing her speak to him like that is like a double-edged sword. It drives him crazy with rage that someone dared to speak to him in such way, but it also makes him want get her to do it again, wanting to see how far she's willing to take it with that threat of hers.
Agwa can feel herself getting more and more annoyed by Maliksi's presence, as she can sense the absolute stubbornness the tamawo possesses.
"You keep running that mouth of yours and I'm raising the tides to-"
"Agwa, please forgive my brother. He's just not good with words." Makisig's voice rang throughout the forest as his footsteps slowly grew louder as he walks towards the two. Wanting to prevent any conflict that involves his own brother and his friend.
Maliksi's demeanor quickly shifts as he saw his Kuya Makisig, quickly standing beside his kuya, clearly happy about his presence.
"Kuya-"
"This tiny boy is your brother?! He's a sassy little thing." Agwa quickly turned to Makisig who happens to be her friend for a very long time now.
"I'm older than you, and I'm not tiny! You're f*cking lucky that my Kuya is here because I'll be dicing you into sashimi if it's just the two of us. Kuya, you know this fishy girl-"
"Maliksi! She has a name. You are not being nice and it'll cause you trouble one of these days. You're lucky Agwa here is being really calm and has not decided to drown you before I arrived. Other nagas are not that forgiving."
Agwa rolled her eyes at Maliksi. "Your brother is right-"
"Of course he is right!" Maliksi gritted his teeth in an effort to keep himself quiet and not clap back with something sarcastic, not infront of his kuya atleast.
Agwa was taken aback from how fast Maliksi agreed. She thought he'll be whining about it. "I'm Agwa. I won't be drawing my blade against you incase we happen to ran into each other once again in the future since you're Makisig's brother." Agwa extended her hand towards Maliksi, wanting to settle their earlier dispute.
"But I won't hesitate to drown you a little incase I see you being mean around human children once again."
Maliksi was about to run his mouth mindlessly again, not used to being spoken to like that, and not by a woman that is. His kuya Makisig quickly covered his mouth and gave Agwa a polite smile. "Sounds fair, Agwa. I'll make sure bunso here won't be mean around kids anymore."
Agwa nodded before excusing herself to take the human girl who is still enchanted by her song earlier and is still sleeping peacefully in her arms to safety where kind humans will find her and help her find her way home.
⋆⭒˚。⋆.
Maliksi has always been the type to get into fights very often because of his temper and foul mouth. It doesn't matter what creature you are, if he's in a bad mood then the possibility of him showering anyone with insults and sarcasm is at an all time high.
Why he's surrounded by three enraged tikbalangs after he made their big brother Lakas cry when he won against him on a fight is something Maliksi will definitely brag in this lifetime- if he survives, that is.
He's already exhausted after fighting with the older tikbalang, and now the three younger brothers are trying to make him pay. Maliksi isn't completely unscathed from the previous fight either. His chance of winning 1 vs 3 is definitely low and the odds won't be on his side this time.
Maliksi thinks of a possible way out of this mess he created when lightning struck not too far away, illuminating the forestscape for a few seconds before it was followed by a loud crakle of thunder. Rain started pouring and it's not just normal rain- it was strong, violent in a sense that Maliksi's felt a slight prickle with how heavy the water droplets are falling against his skin.
The three tikbalang approached him, cornering him at the edge of a downhill stream when he felt someone approach him from the back, covering both of his ears tightly.
Agwa who is currently on her naga form slithered her serpent tail slightly around Maliksi as if to shield him against the three, and to make sure he stays in place incase he gets affected by the naga's enchantment. "Get in the water." Agwa said, not louder than a whisper, but her tone is clearly not hiding a threat, her scarlet eyes glowing a fiery tint of red as she snapped her gaze towards the three tikbalangs.
The tikbalangs, slowly falling into the naga's enchantment and entering a trance all started to turn their heads into the stream. The tide is starting to rise and the current was turning faster and stronger by each second that passes.
"C'mon, boys. Get. in. the, water." She repeated and before she knew it, the three were already walking straight into the middle of the stream.
Agwa then let her rains fall down like fury unleashed into the three. It took less than a minute before the three are almost drowning- that's when Agwa completely stopped her torment, making the rain cease and the stream's current to steady. The three tikbalangs quickly grabbed the chance to narrowly escape their dreaded fate.
As the rain stopped, Agwa gently pulled her hands away from covering Maliksi's ears and gave him space, slithering slightly away from the tamawo.
"You okay, Makisig's lil brother?" Agwa smirked, her tone smug and taunting, much like Maliksi's usual attitude.
Maliksi, being around someone with the same brash and rude attitude like his irked him into oblivion that he even started pitying those he annoys on the regular.
Yet he wonders why exactly he's currently speechless right now, heart pounding out of his chest from when he witnessed this hauntingly beautiful naga command three strong creatures into their almost death without any effort. How she stood there without any remorse or mercy, yet looking that irresistible while threats that are definitely not empty rolled along her tongue as if it's poetry to drown men unforgivingly.
Oh. Hell naw.
I'll be damned.
It was another first for Maliksi. How can he describe someone else aside from his kuya with such adjectives is something that bothered him to the core.
Irresistible.
That might be the first and only time he had used that term to describe a woman but he'll never admit it out loud.
Art by: @ask-emilz-de-philz thankyouuu for my Agwa ;;;;; ((hngg. I can def relate kay bibilo coz those thighs))

To kick off their third year in the industry, Alamat released its comeback upbeat single Day & Night with Tagalog, English, and Cebuano/Bisaya languages incorporated in the track.
The track’s music video features the stunning beauty of actress Jane de Leon in a mermaid outfit. De Leon pays homage to Magindaras, a mermaid creature in Bicol mythology. The song also reflects the consistent effort of Alamat to introduce the fusion of local cultural elements and Western influences in the field of music and fashion.
In July 2023, the group announced that they would be releasing its first-ever LP album, Isapuso, in November.
ALAMAT’s creative director Jason Paul Laxamana said in a statement that the album title is a play on the words “isapuso,” which means “to take to heart,” and “isa(ng) puso,” which refers to having “one heart.”

Welcome to the news channel of the Angry Nature, Today we will tell you about history of mayon volcano and Wreckage of Cessna plane found near Mayon volcano crater, Yellowstone supervolcano 👇 https://youtu.be/Z7uHxApKnRE Mayon, also known as Mount Mayon and Mayon Volcano, is an active stratovolcano in the province of Albay in Bicol, Philippines. A popular tourist spot, it is renowned for its "perfect cone" because of its symmetric conical shape, and is regarded as very sacred in Philippine mythology. The wreckage of the Cessna plane that went missing after taking off from Bicol International Airport in Daraga town of Albay province on Saturday was found scattered near the crater of Mayon Volcano on Sunday, authorities said. The Cessna RPC340 that was carrying four people was located along the gully of Mayon Volcano on Sunday afternoon, some 350 meters from the volcano’s crater, Albay Rep. Joey Salceda said in a Facebook post. Salceda shared in the post the photos of the ill-fated plane, showing the debris of what was believed to be the cockpit and the still intact tail. As of 5 p.m. on Sunday, authorities have no information yet on the condition of the pilot, Capt. Rufino James Crisostomo Jr.; his mechanic, Joel Martin; and their two Australian passengers, Simon Chipperfield and Karthi Santhanam. The Energy Development Corp. (EDC), the country’s largest producer of geothermal energy, released a statement on Sunday confirming that the four persons on board the aircraft were connected with the company. There have been more than 30 eruptions recorded since 1616. An eruption in 1993 caused 79 deaths. Subsequent eruptions in 2000, 2006, 2009, 2014, and 2018 forced tens of thousands of people in nearby villages to evacuate. #mayon-volcano #airplane_crash #angry_nature #Philippine_volcano #airplane #air #plane #crash _______________________________ The channel lists such natural disasters as: 1) Geological emergencies: #earthquake #volcanic_eruption mudflow, #landslide landfall, avalanche; 2) Hydrological emergencies: #flash_flood #tsunami Limnological catastrophe, floods, flooding; 3) Fires: Forest fire, Peat fire, Glass Fire, Wildfire; 4) Meteorological emergencies: #tornado, ATTENTION: All videos are taken from open sources. HEAR ME OUT - I am a POC, a Filipino who realized a bit too late about how cool my country is.
I'm so sick of just sitting back and seeing my pre-colonial culture fade into obscurity like this.
I've been thinking of making literally any media-related thing for Bikol / Bicol mythology to maybe help it become more known cause I really think it's super decent and was highly impressed when I first learned bits about it on the internet years ago.
This is why I made that post about Bulan a few months/years back cause i'm just... so passionate abt this alright?
Every time I remember that Bikol myths could be mainstream if only the right pieces of media was published by now, i just.... feel so bad
I just want to produce something memorable and will make the internet go nuts over it.
I just want to make our culture, like, mainstream.
No more Philippines as just an outsourcing country that's used for manpower and left to fade into obscurity.
It doesn't even have to be me, but if you want something done, sometimes you yourself have to work on it.
So I want to do this.
If any of you folks want to help bring an idea to life, I'll be all ears.
We could do a book, a webcomic, a game, an album, literally anything. I'm technically still just a young adult with no money and no job but I want to work on something I can be proud of, even if there's no pay.
And while exactly zero people will probably respond, just let this be my promise to myself, and also a message to hold accountability. I'm putting this out on the internet (granted, the deeper parts, but still) so I convince myself better to do this.
As a side note, someone has actually written a book Percy Jackson-style about this, I've read it and while there's a lot to criticise about it and stuff to improve upon, it was still a step in the right direction!
The book is entitled The Seventh Moon by Jeremiah Cordial. Check it out and support the author if you can.
TLDR:
I wanna create a piece of media regarding Bicolano mythology as a passion project, so if you have a similar drive, don't hesitate to hit me up and we could work on one! Or don't lmao, either way i'm doing smth!
#OH BOY IM SO SCARED TO POST THIS FOR NO REASON#something tells me ill regret this agjewjwk#philippines#filipino#pinoy#bicol#bikol#bikol myth#bicol mythology#bicolandia#bicol myth#passion project#art#digital art#video games#poc#south east asia#percy jackson#pjo#mythology#anitism#book#writing#webcomic#heres my signature#alright im really doing this okay#pls dont make fun of me ;-;#book reccomendation#the seventh moon#bulan

I was cursed to see this today and now you are too
more info below image
Tambaloslos, a mischievous forest spirit depicted as an extremely thin slouching little man with long wavy silver hair, blood red eyes, a mouth spanning from ear to ear, a protruding abdomen, and a massive penis wrapped in white that shows past the creature's red loincloth and reaches the ground. Art by JP Illustrations on Facebook.
“The Tambaloslos in Bikol is believed to have an enormous loose and hanging phallus since it is known to take women into secluded areas. It's has nothing to do with it's "powers", at least from what have been documented. Perhaps it uses its phallus to attract its victims. It is a believed to be an unkindly nature spirit/monster in Cebu, Bikol, and some parts of Visayas and Mindanao.”
“The Tambaloslos pursued people who were lost in the woods. The only way out is to remove clothes and wear them backward. The creature finds this act extremely amusing and will laugh so hard that its wide lips will cover its face, preventing it from seeing the victim and giving them plenty of time to flee.”

genuine suggestions: Id like to see your takes on more mythology! I remember a mananaggal some time back. also really like the pieces with extreme differences in contrasts, whether in terms of saturation or brightness (but you already do plenty of these!) , and the more horror-like pieces (like your body horror, but environmental horror would be interesting to see)
environmental horror is a difficult subject because some of my ideas are way too real sometimes im ngl, but im planning to do it anyway
as for mythology, i have a particular self boundary for it that i never really said publicly yet so here we go... i don't do any thing that relates to precolonial ph mythology out of respect for IP, which can tell that story better than i do. id like to take this as a chance to explicitly note that my works are pretty much post colonial as a backing theme or whatever the term is. i dont have any direct connection or even a good primary source to show you atm. i also dont like the idea of generic filipino deities and stuff
to make up with mostly avoiding idols despite being like, the worlds most detached animist ever, i do have something vaguely related. i wanted to make a specific narrative related to biringan, but all that is in ways unrelated to old mythology, and more of urban horror that youd find esp in thay ph ghost stories book. so. yeah i couldve just said, ill do urban horror instead. more of the 2nd gen type, because its involving insane pretentious western (ew) shiet
as for everything else U KNO ME..... i do this on a tuesday 😄
#Anonymous#i know more about bicol mythology than waray mythology 😵#and even then i forget. Sighs#but yeah i discuss my 'post colonial adjacency' in private a bunch#im not saying it relates to the study of it#sometimes the theme is more obvious but in mind it should be interpreted as#oh god despite my entire self being wiped off the face of the earth with other people colonialism is still baked deep in everything#-type of horror#its tricky but its one of those themes that i like being hidden

Hi, I love your blog! Notice ko Lang na you also post Philippine mythology content. I’ve been wanting to write something that includes PM, but I don’t know where to start researching about it (ghosts, gods, creatures, urban legends, etc.) or have some good references. Do you have any suggestions where I can find some kind of guide, even just tidbits of information about them?
<<Hi. Bilis ko makasagot no.>>
Most of my sources came from our school library in DLSU Taft. I believe outsiders can now borrow thru online. And if DLSU have them, I'm pretty sure UP has too, and UP Los Baños is pretty much a public library. Idk with Diliman. Sorry I forgot all their Titles and authors. I was young and didn't know the importance of citations.
My knowledge of Bikolandia Myth came from my friend from Bikol who's pretty much living the precolonial life. I'm convinced she's a witch or a priestess.
My online knowledge came from Wikipedia. I know Wiki has a reputation, but remember that I've read legit sources before and I'm only looking online for refreshments, and I'm telling you, they're more legit than random pages I've seen. One marker of legit source is how they treat Amanikable and Lakanpati.
If they say Amanikabke is a 'Hunting god turned Sea god with a cordial relationship with a 'Tranquil Sea' god' then that's okay. Some sources would say he's a sea god, which is entitely wrong. If they say Lakanpati is either 'representation of two genders' or 'diety with no gender' then that's okay. Some sources would say they're just a woman because they married a man and had a child. That source is a bigot.
Another Marker: If they heavily edited the creation story about the fight of Bathala and Galang kaluluwa. If from this story, you won't come to a conclusion that Bathala is gay, then you're reading a wrong source.
In addition, I remember reading a FilMit book written by Jose Rizal. He was also a researcher and an enthusiast of Filmit. (but it was very short, not all dieties are covered). Andres Bonifacio addressed to Sidapa in some of his poems.
That's all, thank you very much.

in Philippine folklore, Oryol was a beautiful naga with a hypnotic voice. She was the one who commanded vicious mermaids called the Magindara. She was also said to protect the land of Ibalong where monsters and beasts lived peacefully.

THE QUARREL OF THE VOLCANOES (Bikol)
“A very long time ago when there were very few people yet on the face of the earth, many queer things were wont to happen. It was because the people were yet very ignorant.
Mayon volcano was only then a mountain and as such had no fire or smoke. She was not as beautiful as she is now nor was she rich in vegetation; in fact, she got what she wanted mostly from borrowing from her neighbors as the Malinao Volcano and the Isarog Mountain. The Malinao Volcano (for she was then a volcano) being nearer to Mayon was the one mostly annoyed by the latter for her wants. In all Malinao Volcano was complacent and aided Mayon in all her needs, though at times, she felt like throwing her out of her window, but as by nature she was hospitable, she tried to do her best for her. Mayon, however, took advantage of this and abused the good character of Malinao and went to the extent of even talking what she wanted.
One day Mayon unexpectedly received some visitors and as it was already dinner time she had to prepare food for them but unfortunately there was no more fire in the oven. In haste, she went to her neighbor Malinao and asked for some fire to heat her oven. When she arrived, Malinao had already dined and all the fire in the oven was extinguished; however, she could very well give Mayon some for she had eternal fire in her crater. Malinao, tired of her fastidious neighbor, refused and thus incurred the hatred of Mayon who was more irascible and impulsive. At the time, Malinao was weaving a piece of cloth and beside her lay a big bolo. Mayon insisted on asking for help. Malinao however, was tired and would not yield to her pleadings even an inch. Mayon, thinking of her visitors and the advancing time, made a desperate effort to get the fire without Malinao's consent but Malinao was successful in wresting from her the fire. In desperation, Mayon grabbed the bolo and closing her eyes struck with all her might at Malinao and moments later, on opening her eyes, saw to her fright that she had beheaded Malinao.
Mayon hurried home with the fire and supplied her visitors' needs. She did not return the fire, for Malinao was dead. To this day Mayon sends forth fire from her crater while the Malinao Volcano is now only a mountain without any smoke coming out of its crater. To this day too, the conical crater of Malinao can be seen at her foot where it fell when Mayon cut it off.”
