qcyn ep 10 aka an episode that really made me happy!! but also really made me miss season 1..........

SHI MINGZE YOYO POWERS/??!!? omg reminds me of bi wenjun ;_; i miss our yoyo prince ;_; omg they reused the puffy suits from last season LOOOLLLL wait but im sorry xixi i cant look at that colorful one without thinking of lou zibo ahhhhhhhhh I MISS ZIBO TOO and qian zhenghao in the tiny alien one omg that was such a iconic moment!!!!! and qin fen in the overblown monster one ahhhh I MISS SEASON ONE IM SORRY I FEEL LIKE ITS LATE ENOUGH IN THIS SEASON THAT I CAN SAY THIS WITHOUT FEELING LIKE IM BEING BIASED BUT SEASON ONE WAS BETTER ---- but i still love many of the kids from this season, its not their fault this season has just been generally more frustrating and less focused on all of their friendships. but season one just seemed generally more enjoyable, fun and lighthearted, yet emotional in a positive manner

oh gosh seeing the top 20 choosing their final songs makes me think back to last season and im getting freaking mack daddy flashbacks and im shuddering in fear LOL “ITS OKAY” WAS AND STILL IS THE SUPERIOR SONG IM SORRY ITS JUST A FACT

LOL THEY TEXT THEM!??! on the bright side, this just reminded me that top 35 will still get to be in ep 11 so yayyy we get another zhan yu stage!!!!!!

lol this earth ad is even more cringey.................. the ending credits.... i see lin yuzhi! and xixi got a cool shot :D im surprised lin mo didnt get any shots haha and that they didnt show mr tyger at all during the hugging portion at the end but oh well i guess.....

tbh this was a minimal lin mo exposure ep but its ok, im still grateful that he got a few random closeups (which is more than i can say for some of the others) and now that hes safely in top 20 i honestly think my work here is done LOL. there’s not much more lin mo fans can do for him. theyve gotten him onto all the stages and i dont think any amount of work will get him into top 9... and ive said before i dont even really want him in top 9 bc id rather he stay with mr tyger and help them stay relevant bc theyll need his help to do so, especially since jia yi will probably make top 9.

(from here is where i go into a rant about season 1 vs season 2.... LOL)

lets be honest, ranking 16 is too low for lin mo to make it lol....... last season the only kid who made top 9 who wasnt already in top 9 by ep 10 was yanjun... and yanjun had been on a steep upward trend leading up to the last ep (lin mo went from 17 to 16... theres minimal momentum there lol) and then bi wenjun going from 12 to 10 was the other surprise. xikan going from 18 to 13 was impressive, but he still wasnt one of the contenders for the 9th spot. i think at the end it was bu fan, qian zhenghao, bi wenjun and you zhangjing right? out of those 4, the lowest ranked in ep 10 was bi wenjun at 12..... so going from 16 up to 9 would be really really unlikely, unless lin mo somehow makes an even greater impression on the audience during the mentor collab stage than yanjun did last year.... which i think will be impossible bc literally the entire audience fell in love with yanjun during the “zero” performance in last season’s ep 11 lol it was crazyyyy.... but anyway i think ive reminisced about last season enough this rant.... can you tell i really miss it? honestly ive tried to stay as positive as i could throughout watching qcyn and i gave iqiyi the benefit of the doubt from the beginning that “oh maybe it just doesnt seem as great as the first season bc we havent gotten to know the kids yet, the show’s just started, we’ll learn to love it later” ---- but we’re on ep 10 now and i just.......... i still dont think i got to know the kids as well as i did last season and its not their fault, theyre not any less lovable kids (some of them i really like!!! more than some of the kids from last season!) but this season’s editing is really just disappointing. i really miss last season and it was honestly so much more enjoyable to watch..... i thought about this the other day, if lin mo had been eliminated during the last round, would i still be watching this show? and i thought about it and i honestly think i would... because i really like some of the other kids like mingming, junjie, xixi, jia yi, guan yue, chen sijian, etc. but i really dont think id be as eager to stay up to date with it. ive fallen behind on yaa and dont even look forward to watching fanafan anymore bc lin mo hasnt been on any of those (no, i dont count the yaa ep he literally only got 1 second of screentime in) these side shows are fun, but not as fun as fanafan from last season. they feature the same kids over and over again (literally yuehua trio was the ONLY kids on fanafan 2 weeks ago and then they were 1/3 of the ep last week too??? and hmm how come there are kids who have been on yaa multiple times yet there are also kids who have never been on it at all???? that’s just so unfair.....) without fanafan from last season, would you zhangjing have made it into top 9?? fanafan was the medium thru which he really showed us how hilarious and fun and lovable and sweet and sassy he was (whereas on the actual show he showed us his true, undeniable talent) and im just here wondering, if qcyn’s fanafan had featured ye ziming half as much as they had featured you zhangjing or his partner in crime yanjun (who both ended up making top 9), would he have at least made top 35? or how about chen sijian and wu zelin? or feng junjie?? or su yuhang?? where would they be now? why hasnt lin mo been on fanafan at all??? if given the chance, would people actually be appreciating zhan yu’s hilariously weird and crazy personality that we NEVER got to see?? sigh..........

#rants #this one got to be wayyyyyy longer than i expected but.......... im overall just happy for __ and also just forever bitter at iqiyi #ppl who have followed me since season 1 may know that lu dinghao became my second bias because of fanafan #i cant reinforce enough how impprtant of an opportunity it is to be able to be on fanafan #i know the exact ep and moment on fanafan that dinghao and zhangjing became my favs and coincidentally yanjun was there too hmmm hahaha #yea every bit of screentime and every chance u get to show ur personality counts and makes a big difference esp early on in the show #when everyones still choosing their one picks

seeing lin yanjun irl!!

okay i want to preface this by saying that yanjun is Really Not My Type (my type is zhangjing / honglin / eunwoo i.e. soft smiley angels) so all this is coming from a non-yanjun stan!! please don’t kill me

so a little while back this guy i follow on wechat posted about yanjun’s flight schedule from shanghai to new york and @ynajun and i were like !!!!!! except he didn’t post any details so we had to scout around for information ourselves?? i.e. relying on info from friends & fansites’ previews of him leaving shanghai and counting 14h forwards and trying to find flight details on flight apps

this is gonna get long y’alls so under the cut it goes

but fast forward and we’re at jfk terminal 1 at 2pm and ready to die!! we meet a bunch of c-fans who specially flew from china to new york just to follow him (it’s insane how much money they have!!!!!! one of them was just like ‘sure i’m gonna buy yanjun a dior gift just because’ even though ! she was an ikun/isee ! and not an evanism!!) and some who drove down to ny for the weekend and we form a group chat!

and so we wait one and a half hours for yanjun to come out of customs dammit yanjun and he !!!! appears!!!!

skinny legend himself!!!! and we can’t see him at all bc he’s all bundled up but it’s okay we know he a tol and skinny god!!!! also bc he's looking down at the ground and makes no acknowledgement of the people around him whatsoever

also there's a LOT of people and everyone follows him out of the waiting space into the pick-up area (it really wasn’t as crowded as it looks in the picture like there was space to walk and stuff but also i’m used to new york crowds so i can’t objectively say)

but boi gets in a car and drives away and conno and i have to leave for a meeting anyway so we go back!

and proceed to go to times square after the meeting bc we’re both dumbasses and thought he would go to times square... bUT GUESS WHAT AYEEE WE SAW HIM THERE!!!

jk lmao he didn’t go to times square that night so we sat there like two idiots for two hours in a slight drizzle for nothing ajajkahskjs

okay so the night before we’re sitting on the group chat and one of the jiejies in the chat was like hey bitches so tmr he’s gonna be at world trade centre for the longchamp show at 3pm and at the soho store at 4pm yall wanna go? and ofc we’re all like ??? yeS????

so we meet for lunch and start camping out at world trade centre at 1.30pm waiting for him to come and he !! doesn’t show up until the last minute

also bc we were waiting for so long one of the jiejies was like, “damn if he doesn’t show up soon i’m jumping wall and opening a fansite for the security guards,,” which was ?? understandable bc look at one of them:

and after a lot of false scares later (other celebrities show up and everyone rushes there only to find out it’s not yanjun etc) GOD HIMSELF FINALLY ARRIVES JESUS CHRIST ON A STICK

connie: “what did he do in his past life to deserve this face,,,, fucK you,,”

yall i got an ask asking if he really was unphotogenic and,,,, yanjun,,, mr leej,,,,, a whole god,,,,,,,,, listen you know how you try to take a photo of the sun but your camera fucks up and you’re left with one (1) shining dot in the middle of a black blur,,,, that’s what taking pictures of lin yanjun is like

also to clarify i don’t whitewash my pictures i only adjust for exposure, shadows, contrast and vibrance so uh mr golden statue in all his glory

also there was like a shit ton of people (more than the airport crowd) mostly bc there were also reporters and other non-yanjun fansites + random people from the memorial site across the road who came over to see what the commotion was so i’d estimate about 50 people:

but also ?? his name 冷彦俊 (cold yanjun) really isn’t for nothing he didn’t look at anyone at all and mostly stared into the distance and he didn’t smile or acknowledge anyone once the entire weekend and his rbf was ?? really hella strong so mmmmmmmmm idk

so after he goes into the building we all sit around and cry for a good ten minutes before getting our shit together and planning our next course of action (read: i pull out lightroom and start editing photos until everyone else decides on our next course of action bc i’m terrible at making decisions)

and after a good half hour it’s decided that conno and i check out the spring street location while the rest of them wait for him to come out of the longchamp show!! and so we take the subway to soho & they send us a picture of his car plate so we can look out for him in case he gets there earlier than they do but as it turns out the new york subway is reliable for once and they arrive before his car gets there so !!

anyway the longchamp staff were like yall can wait inside!! and so a good two thirds of them went to wait inside to get good pics but conno and i were like nah we don’t trust that shit so we stood outside in the slight drizzle

a good choice!! bc his car pulled up near the side entrance instead of the main entrance and since conno and i knew the car plate number we were like o shit that’s him and ran into position!!

he went in through a side door like really really fast and i think we were two of the few people who actually saw him enter / got pictures of him entering the building?? we waited a good two hours for this one moment zzzzz also he changed clothes in the car asdjhdaskjdhsa

and so we wait another two hours outside in the rain for him to come out and this time everyone was smart and nobody waited in the longchamp store so everyone poured out to wait for him and it was really really crowded + there were other bystanders who were like ?? who y’all waiting for??? and decided to wait and take pictures too even though they had no idea who lin yanjun was so it was Packed (there were even people waiting across the road just to get a glimpse of whoever we were waiting for) and i didn’t get photos zzzz

so the night before conno and i are trying to catch up on homework when someone in the wechat group sends a picture of yanjun on the street and we were like !!!!! o myg od

bc 1) he looks hella good asdlhkfja 2) i’ve lived in housing for two years and both those years were spent in different dorms in zip code 10003 so if there are pictures of any celebrity in any part of 10003??? both conno and i are highly likely to be able to tell where they are

and so we immediately recognise the background of the picture as somewhere near one of my old dorms (i’m not gonna say where his hotel is ajsdhfkjd he’s still in new york at the time i’m posting this) and like ??? damn yalls longchamp really spending that dough on yanjun

i know i put the header of this section as 180909 but it’s a lie asdjhkjs i check the weather forecast and it says it’s going to rain all sunday and i’m just like :~) jk i’m not going out in new york rain even for mr lyj so uh that’s the end of my account asjkhkdsajd

(SPEAKING OF THE WEATHER!! it’s been raining every day since lin yanjun landed in new york and the temperature has been dipping lower every day kajsdlha and it’s apparently going to get warm tomorrow right when he leaves so uhhhhhh i’m not saying he’s causing the black clouds but that’s,,, also exactly what i’m saying)

(also bi wenjun just landed today and apparently the weather’s getting warmer from here until he leaves so coincidence that the weather’s getting nicer the moment weatherman boy wenjun arrives??? i think not)

anyway things i’ve learnt from this weekend:

fansites really work very hard to take photos - they spend so much money flying back and forth to get airport pictures + they spend so much !! energy !! running up and down and playing waiting games just to get a few good shots, please respect their photos and !! stop!!!!! editing !! without their permission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

most of them also buy their photos - there were some fantakens uploaded to fansites that clearly weren’t taken by them (photos from inside the longchamp show when clearly nobody but the media was allowed in) so we knew that those fansites bought their photos from journalists + there were also more fansites releasing photos than people at the venue so some of them were 代拍s selling photos to fansites (not that there’s anything wrong with this, it’s just ?? interesting to have found this out i was wondering how some of them got their photos)

some fansites also have like 0 sense of privacy - at the longchamp spring street store they had cars prepared and running just waiting for him to leave so they could jump into the cars and follow him wherever (we’re still trying to work out who they are so we can stop supporting them on forjingyan ;;;;)

yanjun,,,, truly is one of the coldest idols asjdkldasjk our wechat group was talking about it and one of the jiejies in there (we were two of the youngest,,,, a first!!) has been following him around for the thx with love tours and she says she’s only seen him talk to fans one (1) time the whole time she’s followed him!! compared to another jiejie who usually follows 1k around and she says ziyi’s usually very gentle & always speaks to fans ;;;;; + how there are always pictures of zhangjing smiling or at least waving at the airport

(more of a self-reflection point) but i realise the type of idol i tend to bias is very much the kind to smile easily / the more warm ones that interact with fans (like honglin and ruibin) or at least acknowledge the fans that have been waiting for a period of time to meet them like ziyi and zhangjing!! (not that there’s anything wrong with being cold in case yall disgruntled diehard yanjun stans come at me lol) so really yanjun is really truly not my type akjsdfhlaksjd

I actually was doing this was a friend but it came out well and so here we go. If you have requests for other trainees, send them via asks? I didn't really plan on posting these initially so I don't have other trainees thought out

Zhu Zhengting

He'd probably not be really into it? But he'd oblige bc you're excited about it.

Like not a single complaint

He'd pack you guys food also. Ofc by "you guys" I mean him but he'll share

After a while when you've pointed a few constellations he'd really enjoy it too because

"WOAAAHH I DIDN'T KNOW YOU KNEW SO MUCH ABOUT STARS!"

Would definitely try to make moves on you. Like extremely cliche stuff like yawning to put his arm around your shoulders

But he'd cringe himself out of it just moments before he succeeded.

Then he'd bury his face in your shoulder because he was hardly subtle about it and you're laughing

Don't laugh @ him poor baby

Would definitely want to go back after a while bc he's tired from all the running around he does

Would probably fall asleep on your shoulder if he was too exhausted

And then he'd deliver them and be all shy about it

He'd definitely hold you close while you were sitting

like just have you half snuggled into him with your head tucked below his shoulder

and he'd be humming to you while you looked for constellations

oh and he'd rest his head on yours while you went on about the stars bc he likes listening to your voice

which is to say he'd completely zone tf out and just smile at how excited you are

and you'd notice and be like "did you even listen to what I said?" and

he'd probably narrate the whole thing to you

you'd both probably fall asleep while stargazing

Because he'd be too in love to say that he's tired and you're too excited

If he woke up later he'd probably pick you up and take you back and tuck you in and then sleep on the couch

And then he'd get really tired of it after an hour or something and just stop to look at you instead bc you're so into it

Also he'd keep distracting you with absolutely childish pranks

Like tapping your shoulder. He's a baby and an attention seeking on at that

But like good luck getting mad at him when he smiles at you

Also expect a lot of kisses if you don't give him attention every five minutes

"Look that's Orion!" "Look at how beautiful I am"

"Why are you like this?"

He'd have so many silly impromptu pick up lines to get you to pay attention to him

It'll probably last like 2 hours before he's whined enough for you to agree to go back

And then he'll expect cuddling because

"I spent two hours with you watching stars. I deserve a reward"

Not that you guys actually got any proper star gazing done

But that's okay. He's probably given enough kisses to make up for it or so he says

You'll probably have mentioned it once in passing and he'd plan out a whole date

He's a sucker for validation so please remember to thank him for it

Even though he's gonna say that you being happy is enough (it is but a little affection doesn't hurt)

He probably even went solo stargazing and read up on all the constellations to impress you for the date

You: "The stars are so beautiful"

Him: "You know what's more beautiful?"

He's planned out a whole compliment but say you before he delivers it and watch him blush

Once you're completely immersed in the activity he'll probably he distracted rip

So he's going to take a lot candid shots of you not that you'll ever see them because that's his secret stash

Unless you asked or he liked one so much he sends it to you immediately

The only thing he'll forget with his date plan is food so you guys have to order

But he's prepared top quality music so at least you have that while you wait for the food

Food = break from other activities. So you're not getting any star gazing done for at least 30 minutes

Make the most of it to get equally sneaky candids of him because he's going to be too immersed in the food

And then he's going to get sleepy

Because he's tired from training all day

Not that he's going to admit he's tired. You'll have to notice that yourself

He won't want to end the date though

Probably will put his head in your lap and pretend to watch the stars

Because he's actually watching you

You're the only star for him. He's too whipped.

Please pet his hair when he's on your lap. He'll love it

And it's such soft looking hair. It's a win-win.

He's going to fall asleep after a while though

So you'll have to be the Grown Up™ and make sure you guys go inside before it gets too cold

In your life, there’s no such thing as before and after sunrise, only before Bi Wenjun, and after Bi Wenjun.

Title: To Chart a Course By the Stars (part i) Pairing: Bi Wenjun x reader Characters: OC (reader), Bi Wenjun Concept/prompt: “Can I request one in which the reader has a bad habit of sleeping late, and Wenjun's concerned and trying to break that habit?”

I. Allegro.

It’s 5am and the birds outside your window have started squawking.

These birds don’t trill gently or warble in minor arpeggios, nor do they do that gradual, gentle crescendo that’s meant to salute the rising sun or whatever. No, these ones squawk. You peek outside your curtains. The gentle fingers of reddish dawn have started to creep up into the darkness between the twinkling stars, which already seem dimmer in comparison to the imminent sunrise.

Okay. Time to sleep, you guess. You have 9am class, and you promised Wenjun you’d meet him to compare homework answers before that, but it still seems like you’re admitting defeat to go to bed before you’ve finished your work.

Wenjun sees you first, but his smile disappears when he approaches you at your locker. “Y/N, when did you sleep last night?”

“3am,” you say, pulling out your music folder. “Can I check what you got for 4(d)?”

He chews on his lip, frowns a little. “You have dark circles,” he says softly. “You look exhausted.”

“Well, no shit,” you snap, irritable. it’s cold and your head aches. “If only classical music theory came naturally to us all.

He sighs and you feel guilty immediately, but before you manage to apologise, he’s already taken the folder from your hands and flipped to the correct page. He settles in by your side, sitting back against the lockers, a warm, reassuring weight. You press closer for the warmth.

“Mm, here,” he says, and you both lean in, your heads together, and it’s all forgotten for now.

II. Adagio.

This was you, before Bi Wenjun:

You were in your final year, and college applications were looming.

You were terribly busy. you were the loud, spirited, popular one, life of every party. Female lead in the school musical, captain of the soccer team, first desk flute in school orchestra, baking cookies for charity.

Things were a bit off because you’re quickly realising that high school was ending and that what you enjoyed doing was perhaps different from where life and your parents were nudging you.

You enjoyed people, you liked volunteering your time, making people smile, performing, you chase that adrenaline high, you were restless, you didn’t like sitting still.

You had that contract in your hand, from that agency you interviewed with secretly after the nice lady came to find you after the last night of your show. Your parents didn’t know.

You visited the agency building once, for your interview, and that’s also when they showed you around all the practice rooms and studios. You’d peeked into a few rooms: a music room, where a tall boy sang, eyes closed, perfectly, through E minor arpeggio, a dance studio, full of boys and girls younger than you, calmly working their way through a synchronised ballet routine.

It looked nothing like the messy, wild, impulsive way you lived your life then. So the contract was still at the bottom of your schoolbag, unsigned. You carried it with you everywhere you went.

You knew your limits. You weren’t born with any particular talent or genius, you knew that. Your successes were from the time you put in, from the enjoyment and the laughter and the fun you had in what you do. (This was clearly reflected in your grades—every year, your teachers wrote, “she has great potential”, meaning, she would do better if she worked harder). You also felt the weight of your parents’ gaze upon you. You, the eldest child of three. You, daughter of a father who’d had a stroke not six months ago. You, who dutifully collected the mail every evening when you trudged home from school, carefully sorting it into thick stacks of various overdue household bills. In contrast, your manila envelope from Yuehua Entertainment seemed pathetically thin.

III. Minuet.

January, senior year. You’d sent off applications to a dozen or so colleges, for liberal arts degrees in the humanities. Your parents were mollified, you guessed, but everything still lay contingent on your final exams.

You weren’t really an exam person.

Studying made you feel soulless, and you didn’t seem to be able to learn intuitively, gracefully, you seemed to require brute force and sheer bloody determination to drill things into your head.

It’s okay though, you knew you weren’t stupid. You weren’t. You just needed to put more time in, maybe a bit more than the average person.

At your 7am soccer practices, the frosted grass and pre-sunrise darkness seemed chillier and darker than they did at the same time last year. You found yourself resting your eyes during orchestra rehearsal, when the conductor was busy drilling the string section.

“Um, Y/N?” A warm hand landed on your knee, fingers tapping lightly. You jolted awake, just in time.

“Y/N!” barked the orchestra conductor. “Your solo, from the downbeat in Section D, with strings, 1 and 2 and 3 and—“

You played, and after the conductor was satisfied, you turned to the second desk flute player. You’d never really talked to him much, him not being very chatty, and you likewise at 8am in the morning. His name was Bi Wenjun, you thought? It was his first year being on second desk, so he must have been an underclassman, although he looked kind of familiar: soft sweep of brown hair, sunshine smiling through his eyes like a shot of caffeine, straight to the heart.

“Dude, thanks so much,” you said, flashing him a smile. “Saved me from another lecture like last week’s.”

He laughed softly, brown eyes sparkling. “I don’t know, I think you escaped pretty well last week. ‘Mr Zhang, I wasn’t asleep, I was just visualising the notes with my eyes closed!’”

His imitation of your voice surprised a laugh out of you. “I don’t sound like that!”

He only offered you a little crooked smile in response, and you couldn’t reply because Mr Zhang had just cued the woodwinds again. The entire time you were playing, you thought of Wenjun’s smile, and you listened to the way the second flute’s notes twined around your solo part. You’d never noticed it before, but now it couldn’t have been clearer. continued.
