Everything you need to know : Failed Coming Out 2019
This is an answer to an anon I've received.
I typed it all and Tumblr said there was an error when I went and tried to published it. So I had to type it all again but lost the anon....
Here's the question: could you tell me more about her wanting to come out in 2019? sorry for asking again I'm new on the fandom!
Hi!
It will be my pleasure! This is such an important part of the Gaylor Lore to know and understand, especially when you are new in the fandom.
This theory has been confirmed, but we'll get to it in a minute.
Also, I'm so sorry because learning about what went down during Lover Era is a transformative experiece in the Gaylor fandom, in a very heartbreaking way.
So back in 2019 Taylor wanted to come out with the Lover Era.
June 30th during the New York City Pride wich was also the Stonewall's 50th anniversary, was supposed to be the day it happened.
This date might be familiar to you, because it's the date we learned at the same time as Taylor about her masters being sold to Scooter Braun.
So let's start at the begining of all of this. I won't go through ALL the details because my post will never end. But I'll cover the most important ones.
Right at the begining of the year, insiders were already talking about the fact that Taylor was planing to come out that year in podcasts and blind items.
Then in March 6th (Karlie and Taylor's anniversary)
Taylor does a post hinting at this new era. The very first lyrics we get (We got hints at ME back in February):
Daylight the song is about Karlie. But this line specifically means coming out.
Stepping into the daylight, and letting everyone see the real you.
(Also worth noting the lesbian filter)
Taylor started being really loud in the posts she made from now on. Flagging rainbow, lesbian and bi colors every chances she got.
And flagging Butterflies. Wich is very important thematically in Lover and coming out.
Side note on the Butterfly meaning:
Remembre how in reputation, snake was a really important theme?
And how in Lover it switched to butterflies?
More specifically it switched to Snakes transforming into butterflies?
There's a species of butterflies, that when they are in the chrysalid phase of their transformation into a butterfly, can look like a snake if they feel unsafe or attacked in order to protect themselves.
Then, after the average 13 days waiting period, they transforms into a beautiful butterfly.
Basically what Taylor was doing, protecting herself during reputation with that "personna" like she described.
And now, she was ready to finally transforms and have a new beginning.
Here's a description of what butterflies means:
A powerful beacon of growth and new beginnings, the butterfly signifies the power of transformation and the incredible feats we can achieve when we trust ourselves. We all have the ability to listen to our innate wisdom, guide ourselves through difficult times, and emerge better and stronger than before.
The ME! of it all:
Ok back into the Lover Era timeline!
So all those rainbow posts were leading up to the first single: ME!
Even Taylor Nation was pretty loud about this (number of rainbows = number of days leading to ME! release):
3 days before ME! release, Taylor performs at the Time 100 Gala and it's the first and only time she switched so very clearly pronouns in the song, multiple times:
She sings repeatedly : I want HER midnights
And she even seems to be getting more and more confortable as the song goes on and singing it louder and louder.
She also looks at the crowd while singing it.
Then she releases ME!
That was really the first part of her coming out.
And honnestly, she shouldn't have had to do more than this.
ME! was released on April 26th.
April 26th in 2019 was Lesbian Visibility Day.
And she captionned the release with: ME! Out Now!
A song about how she is unique as a Lover...
That is without mentioning the amount of rainbows everywhere in that MV as well as other references.
Worth noting that in 2019 Lil NasX came out in a MV with the rainbow tower and was annoyed that people didn't get it?
Taylor also probably deadass thought that she made it obvious:
May & June 2019 leading up to the big coming out:
Taylor continues to be as loud as she can.
She makes a very generous donation to GLAAD:
She sings ME! every chances she gets, while flagging the Lesbian Flag.
Taylor Nation also keeps on being really loud:
And releases a song and music video about homophobia and includes herself front and centered in the LGBTQ+ community (represented by the Trailer park, note how Ryan Reynolds, the only straight person in the MV is outside of this park, not in it like Taylor).
With a bi flag wig...
So yeah, she was trying really hard to make people see her.
Christian Siriano and the dress...
Back in April, we learned that Christian Siriano (a fashion designer) was working on a project for Taylor:
In June, he started teasing us about a mistery rainbow dress for an unnknown person:
It was heavily rumored that it would be the dress used by Taylor to come out at the end of Pride Month.
He kind of confirmed it with this post:
Then. June 30th.
The New York City Pride.
Taylor planned to come out at the event.
Employees on site, starts to be warned about this (you can find some comments online).
Taylor learns at the same time as us that her masters were sold to Scooter Braun.
She never makes it to Pride.
And Billy Porter ends up wearing the dress:
But. You can see that the dress was not meant to be worn by him. It doesn't fit well and the "nude" parts shows that it was meant to be worn by a white person.
In 2022, Christian confirmed it by dueting a TikTok talking specifically about this.
He deleted it right after but you can still find it on TikTok: (X)
Last minutes changes to Lover:
We now know that Taylor scrapped two songs from Lover: All Of The Girls You Loved Before and Need.
All Of The Girls is really loud and very clearly talks about a girl. Wich Taylor couldn't afford if she didn't want to/couldn't come out.
London Boy was actually written and added really last minute to the album.
Really interesting, because this is her loudest song about her loving boyfriend. Wich is a brilliant thing to do if you want to limit the public speculation after all the flagging that you did...
We know it was last minute, because Taylor sampled it on Cold War from Cautious Clay. (X)
He was called in the middle of the night and had to approve the sample right away.
Interesting fact: Cold War was featured in Book Smart, a movie Taylor promoted that year.
The song plays during a lesbian sex scene...
The intro to London Boy is actually Idris Elba in a interview where he was talking about a charity where he sold a date with him.
You know, people paid to date him...
The shift in the Lover Era:
After this, you can start to see a shift. Where it was colorful sequin and rainbows everywhere with colorful choreography.
She now dresses in black, is incredibly sad and sings mostly accousting song.
Like her BBC 1 performance or Lover In Paris:
Miss Americana:
Miss Americana was supposed to be her coming out documentary.
It has been confirmed by the director of the project that a lot of footage has been scrapped.
Also, the documentary was supposed to be called : Is It Cool That I Said All That?
This is why the documentary sometimes feels like something is missing and some parts are rushed.
They tried to switch her coming out approach by making it her political activism era.
Taylor confirms it in Anti-Hero MV:
youtube
She's pierced through the heart by The Archer.
Her queerness starts showing (she's bleeding lavender glitters).
She tries to cover it up by taking the table cloth.
Her wanting to cover it spoils the dinner for everyone and they leave her.
And while she sings : "Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism, Like some kind of congressman?"
She covers her queerness with a sticker : Vote For Me, For Everything
Confirming that the political activism during Lover Era and mostly Miss Americana was in fact really to cover the fact that she was already one foot out of the closet when they had to backtrack.
With this. Take a look at the closing scene of Miss Americana. When The Archer is playing in the background.
It's a montage of Taylor talking to someone and Taylor on the release night of Lover.
Look at what Taylor says...
Queerbaiting Backlash:
This might be the worse part in my opinion.
Since she was flagging so hard to come out.
Sadly, most people didn't get that that was exactly what she was trying to do.
And medias massively accused her of queerbaiting.
And using the queer community.
I'm still so mad and heartbroken about this....
reusing an old Twitter post...
Even queer fans...:
Frankly, speculating about her sexuality would have been way less damaging than this...
Songs about this event:
Taylor wrote a lot about this failed coming out.
The Archer, was her song about her anxiety about coming out. And begging her fans to stay.
I'm not gonna do a full lyrics analysis because this post is already a novel.
But read those lyrics with that in mind and you'll see how loud it is, and heartbreaking.
"I've got a hundred thrown out speeches I almost said to you"
Also. Worth noting that after Lover was released and she was not able to come out, she switched one lyric in that song.
Instead of "Combat, I'm ready for combat" singular (coming out was the combat she was ready to face)
She now sings every time "Combats, I'm ready for Combats", because coming out has turned into multiple battles that she has to face now...
Hoax:
Noticed how she says that all of her heroes die all alone in The Archer?
Her fear that if she comes out, all her fans would leave.
In Hoax she says: "You know the hero died so what's the point of keeping score movie for?"
Because with her Master Heist and everything, she was not able to be one of those heroes herself... The hero that she wanted to be died in that moment because she was unable to come out.
Edit: I messed up the lyrics. But it's even more telling. Because the movie she's talking about is Miss Americana, once she was unable to come out.
Evermore:
This song is litteraly her looking back at what happened and how she managed to process everything and ultimatly heal even though it felt at the start like she would never be able to.
"I've been down since July" - June 30th = failed coming out
"Motion capture, put me in a bad light" - Queerbaiting allegations. And Miss Americana being rebranded.
"Writting letters, adressed to the fire" - Her hundred thrown out speeches that she almost said.
"I rewind the tape, but all it does is pause, on the very moment all was lost" - June 30th...
"Sending signals, to be double crossed" - Her flagging strongly on her way to come out, only to be accused of queerbaiting.
Right Where You Left Me:
The restaurant is a metaphor for the closet.
"Sitting in a corner I haunt, cross legged in the dim light"
Doesn't really feel like a restaurant, but her hiding in the closet.
"I swear, you could hear a hairpin drop. Right when I felt the moment stopped"
Droping hairpins is giving hints that you are gay.
She was doing this very loudly right before she was kept from coming out.
"Dust collected on my pinned up hair"
Her hair are still pinned up because she was not able to come out. And dust collected over time that she spent forced in the closet.
Anti-Hero:
AH is really The Archer 2.0, and talks about the same fear of coming out and being abandonned.
The fact that she decided to depict herself as the Anti-Hero is both really interesting and heartbreaking.
Because to her, the hero was the version of herself that was able to come out...
Listen to Change in the perspective of being able to come out and change the face of the industry:
"Tonight we'll stand, get off our knees
Fight for what we've worked for all these years
And the battle was long, it's the fight of our lives
But we'll stand up champions tonight"
They were the Champions.
Side note: she sang this song at the ACMA in 2010, two weeks before Chely Wright's coming out.
When we know that she has knowed and worked with Chely since about 2007.
Then Taylor wrote Long Live one month after Chely Wright's coming out.
Listen to the song with the same perspective as Change now.
"You held your head like a hero, on a history book page"
Chely Wright came out in May 2010. Taylor wrote Long Live in June 2010.
Look at the parallels of both songs.
And now, look at her choice to name that song Anti-Hero after everything that hapenned....
She also wrote Long Story Short and The Great War about that event, but this is for another post and it's about how this event affected her relationship with Karlie.
How she thought she was betrayed but ultimately found out it was not the case.
And how they both made it through.
Ok, I'm exhausted lol.
Sorry for writting a novel.
But this is such an important part of Taylor's history and I really wanted to do it justice (hope I was able to).
If you are still reading...Thank you for your question!

Since Taylor had put a plan in motion to come out in 2019, I'm curious why you believe it's unlikely she'll come out any time soon (if ever). What do you think changed for her?
If she's bi and worried about how her fans would react, now seems like a perfect time to come out since she's in a serious relationship with a man and her fans, the entertainment media, and even the general public are enamored with them.
i think she realized she doesn’t owe it to anyone and rethought how it would come off. i can see a world in 2019 where she thought “great i’ll be taken in by the lgbt community as one of them and it’ll be great i’ll advocate for us, they’ll all love me” and then saw the tumblr backlash to the rumor of her and katy’s kiss and decided “damn nvm they’ll think im saying im bi for attention and i’m upset over the masters let me put all this on pause and think on it” and then her feelings on her sexuality evolved and she realized she had such a strong preference for men that maybe she decided she didn’t want to center herself in the lgbt community because not only would she get hate from conservatives she then saw she’d get hate from the progressives as well for centering herself over more visibly queer people and said fuck it “the greatest of luxuries is your secrets” no need to take all that heat for very little gain. and decided to walk back some of her gayness and give gaylors (specifically kaylors so who could blame her) a little slap on the wrist with the 1989 prologue.
i hope she’ll come out some day and i’d love to be wrong but i don’t see it happening soon (within the next 3-5 years).
and for the record if taylor does think this way i think it’s sad i’d like to state that in my humble opinion i don’t really care if a bisexual woman has a huge preference for men i still 100% they belong front and center in the lgbt community as much as anyone else but i can just see taylor personally thinking the thoughts i just outlined even if i personally think that thought process is flawed.

What is bisexual?
Bisexual or bi is used to describe someone who is physically, romantically, and/or emotionally attracted to people of more than one gender in a similar manner though not necessarily at the same time.
The bi in the word refers to being attracted to genders that are both same and different to their own, It does not necessarily mean attraction to men and women. For a long time the word was used in that way, but in 2019, Merriam-Webster made “they” the Word of the Year in 2019. This stemmed bisexual+ advocate Robyn Ochs with the collaboration of GLAAD to write a letter to the company and ask them to update the term bisexual to acknowledge that gender was no longer defined as a binary.
Bisexual or bi+ people still experience misunderstandings regarding their orientation. Others still judge them and say that what they’re feeling is a phase or that they have to choose a gender. There is always a need to improve how we treat our LGBTQIA+ members and it can start with being understanding and listening to one’s experiences and feelings.
Important dates of celebration and awareness:
Bisexual Awareness Week: September 16 - 22
Celebrate Bisexuality Day: September 23
Pride flag:
The bisexual pride flag was designed in 1998 by Michael Page with the purpose of giving the community a symbol similar to the rainbow pride flag and to increase visibility towards this sexual orientation. The three colors of the flag represent the following: pink for same-gender attraction, blue for attraction to the opposite gender or regarding non-binary people, towards a different gender, and purple for attraction to two or more genders.

Long time viewer from way back when here! Just wanted to drop by and let you know how happy I am to see you thriving and finding your way in the world. It seems to be that in your old videos you had a deep sense of discomfort that would only go away when you were doing tons of goth-y makeup or rlly getting dressed up. Its calming in a very specific way to see photos of you now smiling in a light cardigan with your hair down.
I must be about 4-5 years younger than you, but I think I am on a very similar path. I’m starting to tease out the woman i want to be one day and your visibility and smile are helping me figure that out! It feels great to know that even tho I only feel comfortable right now in platform docs and a maid skirt (mostly joking), I have a bright future ahead full of comfort and light!
Oh gosh yeah. The further away I strode from the idea of myself as a man, allowing my true desires to come to the surface, the more insecure about my body I'd feel. Thus, going extremely hard on a look/aesthetic that could paint over those insecurities with broad strokes and also allow me a playground to push my boundaries and find out just how far I wanted to go.
I agree with you. I love that I never wear makeup now, don't obsessively shave my body, and just wear little dresses and robes and comfortable clothes. As my body started catching up to where I wanted to be as a woman, and especially after I settled into my womanhood (giving myself permission to be a woman took far too long), I started to just be comfortable. There's less and less to correct every single day.
I don't have any videos from around the time I started HRT in summer 2019. I'd moved on (though I wanted to comeback in 2020 but then COVID + I got sick derailed that plan).
The most liberating thing I experience these days is that I don't feel a need to do everything or share everything in front of an audience or online. So much of my life just belongs to me now. Growing up and coming of age with 1,000s of people watching is a trip. A hell of a ride for sure, and I'm so proud of it. But I find it so interesting to juxtapose my coming out as queer in sexuality essentially in real time on YouTube and being thrust to the forefront of a movement (as one of the only "bi guys" on YouTube at the time, which is funny given how I'm neither bi or a guy) up against my gender journey, which started privately in 2016 and became a little public in 2017/18 but then became entirely private and for me again. I think I've found it much easier to get to the truth when I'm not repackaging my insights into advice/content. It feels more like a lazy river these days as opposed to a raging rapid like it used to.

So, are you new to Watcher?
Whether you just discovered the dudes from Buzzfeed Unsolved premiered a new ghost hunting show or you stumbled across Ghost Files without having ever seen Ryan and Shane before, perhaps you find yourself a bit lost regarding Watcher.
So here I present a not-quite-short (yet I hope comprehensive) guide to Watcher Entertainment!
What is Watcher?
Back in 2019, three ex-BuzzFeed employees (Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej from BuzzFeed Unsolved and Steven Lim from Worth It) joined forces and announced they were launching a new production company and YouTube channel called Watcher. They toiled at it for an entire year and their new channel premiered on January 10th, 2020 with seven shows, the first of which was Puppet History (but more on the shows later).
youtube
They started with a grand total of five employees: the three cofounders, Brittney Lee (Production Supervisor) and Anthony Frederick (Creative Director of Post Production). Now, Team Watcher has grown to include several more people, including some ex-BuzzFeeders like Katie LeBlanc (who used to produce BFU and Worth It, today is Head of Development at Watcher), Annie Jeong (who you may know from Worth It and the Berry Boys video featuring Ryan and Shane, now a Senior Creative Producer) and Mark Celestino (cameraman for BFU, now Senior Creative Producer at Watcher).

Various papers report on the snap meeting between the Finnish President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy that took place on Sunday.
The sudden calling of the meeting led to much speculation on social media as to the reasons behind such a move, but the President's office explained the timing was due to calendar clashes during this coming week.
Helsingin Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) (HS) writes that Finland's Nato membership application process and President Sauli Niinistö's five-day, bi-coastal US visit were among the main topics on the agenda. Discussions reportedly focused particularly on the tripartite talks between Turkey, Sweden and Finland, held in Brussels on Thursday.
In another article (siirryt toiseen palveluun), HS also reports on Niinistö's optimism regarding the Nato process, which was especially evident in an interview with Fox News that aired on Sunday.
Niinistö said that based on recent discussions, the message from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was clear: Hungary would not be the last country to ratify Finland's Nato bid.
The Finnish president also commented on the warming relations between China and Russia, calling them a problem, according to HS.
"China should understand that if European people and [the United States] get the impression that China is supporting Russia, that would ruin their reputation," Niinistö said.
Niinistö further added that China should remember people's opinions in "the free world" have a bearing on those countries' policies, such as on trade.
"China wants to trade with Europe, trade with the USA. What about if they first spoil their reputation? There won't be much trading left," Finland's President noted.
Parties amp up on their election spending
Newspaper Ilkka-Pohjalainen (siirryt toiseen palveluun) reports on the "big differences" between the election spending of Finland's larger parties.
The party to splash the most cash is the National Coalition Party (NCP), with a budget of some two million euros. It is a significant increase from the opposition party's 2019 budget, which was just short of 1.6 million euros.
Opposition Finns Party, in comparison, has only allocated about a fourth of the NCP's budget, some 550,000 euros. The right-wing party has traditionally taken to the hustings with a smaller budget than other parties, IP notes.
Prime Minister Sanna Marin's SDP meanwhile also increased their campaign spending this year, from 1.4 million in 2019 to 1.8 million euros this time out.
The Centre Party was less eager to increase their total spending, only upping their funding up from 1.35 million to 1.5 million euros since the 2019 election.
"Inflation is also evident in our election marketing, so that with an increased budget we get about the same visibility as we did four years ago," Centre Party secretary Riikka Pirkkalainen said.
New and improved documents
Finnish passports and ID cards issued from Monday will feature a new design and security features, Tampere-based Aamulehti (siirryt toiseen palveluun) reports.
The most notable changes on passports include the less prominent position of the Finnish coat of arms on the cover and the new imagery of the Finnish Archipelago Sea on the inside.
Meanwhile, ID cards issued from 13 March will feature "substantially larger" photos, according to the paper.

Happy trans day of visibility!
Because I’m in the mood for it here’s a brief summary of me finding out my identity, prior to 2016 I was unfortunately under my parents indoctrination and had yet to learn that what they taught me was wrong and I’m still having to unlearn some of those things but I can proudly say I’m a much better person now than I was back then.
During 2016 was when I learned that there’s nothing wrong with being queer(me getting into the loud house was actually part of what made me realize this so yeah representation matters) and in 2019 I discovered that I was bi tho unfortunately I was still transphobic at the time, it wasn’t until fall 2021 that I began to realize that being transgender is 100% normal and that I myself was not cis, at first going by they/them and to the best of my ability presenting more androgynous with a feminine streak, then in May 2022 I discovered I’m a trans woman and have been going by she/her ever since tho I have no problem being called they/them.
Sorry for rambling over what honestly feels more like a journal entry I just wanted to say this.

Seiko Gmt Purchase, Sell & Save With Canada's #1 Local Classifieds
It is value noting that this could be a solid piece of ceramic and not simply an insert. It’s mounted, colored in black, and includes a highly-legible tachymeter scale, the latter detail lending to the sporty look of the watch. The bi-colour 24-hour bezel is coated in Hardlex, to make sure durability while the GMT hand improves practicality, visibility and legibility. Featuring nearly-full metal development with thick bridges and plates, all 9F calibers are designed to be taken apart new seiko gmt and stuck ought to there ever be a difficulty, and never simply discarded as is the case with many other quartz movements. The instances are rated to 20 bar water resistance and feature a magnetic resistance score of sixteen,000 A/m (approx. 200 gauss), which is roughly three times the more widespread 4,800 A/m rating (60 gauss).
The Grand Seiko Sports Collection Spring Drive Chronograph GMT reference SBGC240 is a limited version of 500 items, and it goes to be obtainable at Grand Seiko Boutiques and selected Grand Seiko retailers worldwide in July 2021. Etsy is now not supporting older versions of your web browser in order to ensure that consumer information remains seiko 6r54 safe. Beautiful watch that you'll like, it has been around two weeks since I received it and I like it. So far it has been very accurate and needed no time adjustment which is sweet for an computerized watch. The first ever Seiko 5 watch, Seiko Sportmatic 5, was born in 1963. ‘’5’’ represented the promise that each Seiko 5 watch would have 5 key attributes.
It is supposed to stay in whatever position you set it in by friction only, however it doesn't. As that bezel is meant for use to indicate one other time zone, not staying put makes it quite new seiko watches 2023 ineffective. With its basic device watch design, robust automated movement, and a worth south of $400, it’s no understatement to say the Seiko 5 Sports is in a category of its own.
For example, if one have been touring from New York to California, they'd simply leap the hour hand again three positions upon arrival to account for the three-hour time difference. With a movement as accurate as those in Grand Seiko’s 9F series (+/-10 seconds per year annual deviation), not having to reset the watch is a big deal, and it speaks to Grand Seiko’s dedication seiko prospex to precision. Ever since it was created in 1968, the Seiko 5 Sports collection of mechanical watches has been synonymous with durability and reliability. When, in 2019, the gathering was relaunched, an lively and youthful dynamism was added. Today the collection takes another step forward with, for the first time, the introduction of a GMT caliber.
The top crystal is sapphire with an anti-reflective coating, and it protrudes slightly above the bezel. Flanking the crystal on all three models is a fixed ceramic bezel (with a 24-hour scale) colour matched to the dial. Well-made watch, as anticipated from Seiko however it does want some improvements to be a really useable GMT watch. The other problem I really have with this watch is that the moveable outer bezel has no ratchet.
In addition to the time of day and date, it offers a GMT hand and an influence reserve indicator. The chronograph measures elapsed time up to 12 hours and the seconds hand strikes in good, steady and silent glide motion because it does so. The deep blue of the dial and the bezel echo the colour of the night time sky and contrasts with the brightness of the high-intensity titanium case. The design of the case and dial attracts inspiration from certainly one of Seiko’s best-loved sports seiko spb385 watches, recognized to lovers as the Seiko SKX series. The five-row bracelet is a brand new design also inspired by the unique SKX series in which the center rows are polished to create a distinction with the solid feel of the rows that bind them. Chronograph functionality is arranged in an incredibly legible means on the dial.
Based on the tried and trusted platform of Caliber 4R, this new sequence of three designs provides the comfort of a GMT hand in a case that is just 0.1 mm thicker than the existing one. SBGN019 includes a black dial with orange accents, SBGN021 has a blue dial with brilliant blue accents, and SBGN023 has a black dial with shade accents that make the dial appear prospex gmt nearly brown. The first is on the GMT hand, the second is on the “GMT” text on the dial, and the third is alongside the outer dial ring from three to nine o’clock (or six to eighteen alongside the bezel), with this color-blocking supposed to mark the daytime. It is an efficient use of shade in both its subtlety and legibility.
In addition to the chronograph function, which might measure elapsed time up to 12 hours, Grand Seiko also included a GMT complication for even more performance. Altogether, caliber 9R86 has more than four hundred components, and each motion is hand assembled by the expert craftsmen and women of the Shinshu Watch Studio. Grand Seiko makes its quartz GMT watches as user-friendly and hassle-free as their mechanical counterparts. As is the case with all of Grand Seiko GMT watches, the 9F86 movement powering this new collection provides these watches true GMT performance. This implies that the native hour hand is independently adjustable whereas the GMT hand remains fixed to “home” time. The benefit of this kind of performance is that upon arriving to a new locale in a special time zone, the wearer can shortly jump the hour hand to the appropriate hour without having to reset the watch.
First access to new retailer announcements, events & promotions, and the hottest trends in style and way of life. With their sporty design and tough-as-nails motion, these new references are a fantastic alternative for day by day wear regardless of the state of affairs. The case, measuring 43 seiko prospex gmt.8mm across and 16.1mm thick, boasts an attractive mix of finishing. The high surfaces are given a hairline finish, and the edges are polished to a distortion-free reflection only achievable through Grand Seiko’s Zaratsu method. Around again, an exhibition case again shows off the gorgeous 9R86 caliber.
Designed for the worldwide traveler To be positive that they stand out clearly, the GMT hands are in shiny red on the black and blue dial versions and in black for the version in orange. Reference SBGC240 is paired with a five-link stainless steel bracelet that includes a three-fold clasp with push button launch. The clasp options seiko gmt an 18k yellow gold emblem marked with “GS.” Additionally, the watch comes with a crocodile strap with gold-tone stitching. Those familiar with Grand Seiko’s chronograph lineup will likely see some notable design adjustments here. The base of the bezel features a distinct dodecahedron shape, and it’s rendered in 18k yellow gold.

Bi-Invisibility - The Abyss Stares Back
Pennasilico’s discussions of the public’s fear of the bi identity doesn’t just limit itself to the fear itself. It also shows off how the public, and the LGBT+ community, try to discount bisexuality and biromantics as not truely existing. I had talked in the first post how biphobia and misconceptions in general create a feedback loop of misinformation and fear towards the bi community, and it truly does show.
Pennasilico states the following:
Bisexual invisibility can be observed on a day-to-day basis because it is widespread and normalised in all social contexts: figures of speech, typical rhetoric, and media representation serve as prominent examples. Bisexual invisibility is due to a social phenomenon Kenji Yoshino called the epistemic contract of bisexual erasure (Yoshino, 2000). By ‘epistemic contract’, Yoshino means the social response from the heterosexual and gay communities to the fear of the threat that bisexuality poses on the current system in which these communities are invested. (2019, pp.24)
Yoshino is actually referenced in both this and Morrison et. al (I would love to read his research one day), but both Yoshino and Pennasilico point out that this is all a social phenomenon. Hate begets hate; misinformation and fear of change brings the desire to get rid of that fearful thing. The way history can make facts seem like there were either straight or gay moments - like historical figures having multiple partners as simply gay, or homosexuality in ancient Greece covering the fact that males were still expected to take wives even if relations with male students was allowed - and how politically-based terminology had “gay-spaces” or “the gay community”, “gay pride”, and only the subject of “homophobia” (2019, pp.23-24).
These words have changed over time, yet they also still very much remain. I remember in highschool my pride club being known as “Gay Straight Alliance”, which in wording is so limiting. Nowadays it’s nice that my college’s club is called “Allies” instead of pointing out one specific part of the group, and that pride is just called pride. The implications of the past, however, still feel visible in the present with the lack of visibility still on the bi community. Pennasilico’s study points out the lack of thought put into the bi community’s mental health, and that their invisibility leads to higher cases of depression, and that the minority stress makes them less likely to seek medical help (2019, pp.25-26). Marcus (2015) similarly showed how, in much more extensive detail, the absence of thought for the bi community in legal affairs and the like harmed them. Both in what the invisibility has done to the community at large (pp.299-306) and both the evidence of erasure in litigation and the specific harms that that causes - proving your “gay enough” for immigration and sanctuary, being deemed unfit parents in custody and adoption cases due to their orientation or history, and same-sex rulings affecting the bi community in varied ways (pp.306-324) - it shows the imbalance in the legal system for proving ones worth to society.
Change is happening to make the community and the public at large more inclusive. The bi community, in one way or another, benefits from both being recognized personally and from queer and pride communities accepting the whole LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Yet still, even in the more modern contexts, there must be more change to fully recognize that bisexuality and biromantics are real. We see them and we want to be bi their side as they get more and more recognition and respect in these talks.
