Endrin Aeducan’s children, heirs to Orzammar
I got origins to run for about ten mins before it crashed on my pc, enough to remake Tyne as an Aeducan for that fresh playthru feel.

Bhelen in the dwarf noble origin: my siblings have been, like the mere puppets they foolishly let me turn them into, dancing to the tune I have set for them. They've been doing so for years now, none suspects a thing. It won't be long until I set my brilliant plan to seize the throne in motion and force this entire city to see that it is my right to do so. And anyone who'll dare to stand in my way will be destroyed.

As a longtime Aeducan stan and Bhelen apologist I am kinda obsessed with the dialogue where Rica tells a Dwarf Commoner PC that when "[Endrin] sent him away... Bhelen cried for weeks". Like you could try say that it was him putting on an act, but he really has no reason to do that with Rica since if that got out... it would be deeply embarrassing. So that just kinda leaves you with the idea that he spent weeks crying to his girlfriend about how his dad didn't love him even though he literally just did everything that he did and I respect that.

Also just everything about the aeducans is so messy and nuanced. It's Advanced Cousland in that you get betrayed except you dont see it coming at all because the guy doing it is your sweet little brother who you used to play games and have food fights and chase nugs and grieve your mother with. Not some random family friend with 'Villain' written on his forehead. It's your baby brother. You know. The one you can't ever see grown up. The one whose eyes somewhere along the line went from big and wondrous and wanting to be just like you, to grown up and hungry. And he kills trian. Oh my god he kills the one you looked at like that.
It's like. Okay we know he must have found out how Endrin got the throne right?? Because he does the exact same thing Endrin did. Your dad made the blueprint. I have to wonder if like. bhelen actively hated you all then. when did he find out?? when did he lose his innocence?? when did his beard metaphorically grow in?? Bhelen i need to pickle your brain

Dragon Age: The Dwarves of Orzammar
Digital paintings. Late 2018—2019. Portrait of Kardol (bottom left) was made in late 2022 amid the advent of AI, promptly rendering such portraiture largely a pointless endeavour.

Endrin is old, however, and the time has come for one of his children to make their move: they will prove their worth in replacing their father, or fall to treachery from within their own family. The halls of Orzammar run deep, they say, but the blood runs deeper.

the acceptance of polyamory for producing heirs in orzammar opens up so many questions, like “were these three pitted against each other from birth by their mothers who were competing consorts of the king, or are they in fact just Like That”

happy friday! how about an overheard conversation about your OC for garnet aeducan?
Happy Friday! Ooh I like this one a lot @vigilskept. Let's dig into Orzammar for this one, before the events of Origns. For @dadrunkwriting
Words: 435
Characters: Garnet Aeducan, Bhelen Aeducan, Trian Aeducan.
~~~~~
"She's our sister, Trian," Bhelen murmurs softly, the heated words still burning the air long after Garnet has gone.
"Exactly, Bhelen." Trian always was too imperious for his own good, and he looks his brother over with a critical eye as if he's already the king, and Bhelen his willing subject. "She's our sister, and an Aeducan. She should be behaving like one."
The weight of the Aeducan name was a heavy enough burden without Trian using it to bludgeon anyone into behaving the way he wanted. Bhelen had learned just to sink, to be quieter and smarter and not raise his head high enough to be struck. Neither heir, nor favourite, nor as accomplished as either, he had learned to sink into the soft shadows, and hone is talents elsewhere.
But Garnet had always been different. Most stubborn, always locking horns with Trian and refusing to bend to his will as eldest and heir, no matter how much he might have the right of it.
"She hates you, I'm sure." Bhelen's voice is light, polite, perfectly disguising his glee. Maybe one day they'll be so angry they'll tear each other apart.
"So let her hate me," Trian snorts. Garnet's anger is hot and fierce as a volcanic eruption, all noise and sudden violence, and then it abates as quickly. "It'll pass."
"One of these days, brother, she might burn you before the lava cools."
Bhelen was always saying such things, and Trian had never paid much attention to what his brother said.
"You've mentioned," he says, sounding almost bored. "Tell me, when is she going to assassinate me, Bhelen?"
"It's no laughing matter, Trian. She's the more popular one, even you can't ignore that." No matter how arrogant you are. "People like her. She talks to them."
"She wastes her time."
"She has support. If she wanted to take the throne—"
Bhelen flinches back as Trian rounds on him, a flash of hot rage passing over his face. Maybe he pushed too far. Garnet's never wanted the throne, she's been more than clear about it, but if he can only plant the suspicion, that would be enough.
"I am the heir." Trian's voice is low, a threat as heavy as a war-hammer poised above Bhelen's head. "And I'll do what it takes to make sure it stays that way. You'd both do best to remember that."
Bhelen raises his hands, takes another step back and sinks back into shadowy softness, gracing Trian with his most accommodating, servile smile, that gives no indication of the dagger hiding beneath.
"Of course, of course. Who could forget?"
Woke: a particularly crafty Aeducan should have been able to marry Alistair/Anora and rule Ferelden with them
Broke (but funnier if we're being honest): a mage Warden who had little to no problem selling Jowan out should have been able to become the King of Orzammar's evil little chancellor
Thinking about the implications of Aeducan killing Loghain after making Bhelen king.
Like you put aside a betrayal that was much deeper, much more personal- because it was the better choice and you know it. Harrowmont was not strong enough to carry the weight of the city, he was not strong enough even to hold you up when you fell- if you care for Orzammar at all you have to look past what had happened accept that the one who has a chance to secure it's future is also the one who was willing to stab you in the back.
And then Bhelen kills Harrowmont because he can't let him walk away- it is what a kind forgiving ruler would do and in this city it would be a mistake.
And then in the Landsmeet you stand victorious before another man who betrayed you- and maybe because this time you can, maybe because you can hear Alistair demanding justice and you know he would never forgive you otherwise- or maybe because in this moment you feel much closer to Bhelen then Loghain ever was- which in turn makes him your Harrowmont... and you deal the final blow.
POV: when you just gotta frame your little brother for the murder of your eldest brother #JustNobleThings
[from my upcoming Dragon Age Origins animation project]
Video description: The Dwarven Noble Aeducan character from Dragon Age Origins - in this case, a chubby handsome man named Dutok, with short hair and no beard, wearing full armor - looks shocked and grief-stricken as he is grabbed by royal guards, restrained at spearpoint, and punched in the gut. The audio of the video is the song "Little Lion Man" by Imagine Dragons. Dutok pleads with his brother to believe him, but his brother Bhelen stands smirking knowingly with his arms crossed.
