OTP asks for Wranduin! 10, 22, and 57 :3
of course it was you <3333
10. Describe their first date.
Hmm, okay, so of course, with this ship, it was comedic. There were two ideas I liked, the first w/ BFA wranduin and the second with MoP wranduin. So a bit of context: Wrathion goes to Jaina of all people. Basically, he says, “Ms. Admiral Proudmoore please help me impress your nephew.”
She absolutely grills him with questions before she helps him, but ultimately tells him that Anduin likes extravagant things. Wrathion is kinda surprised but he listens to her.
Anduin does not like extravagant things. He is quite simple and hates having to pretend he likes big and extra things.
So Wrathion, being the goof he is, sets up a big and very vibrant and decorated date. Anduin doesn’t like it, but the sweet boy isn’t gonna tell Wrathion that during the date. So afterwords he pulls him aside and says, “Do you not know me at all?”
Wrathion explains that he went to Jaina and she told him that’s what he liked, so he wanted to make the first date special. Obviously endeared, Anduin just giggles and hugs him. “New story for Winterveil exchange.”
OR.
Wrathion goes up to Anduin’s room with a watering can. “I heard Genn say that the first date should always be memorable, so I brought you this watering can.”
22. What reminds each of their partner?
Wrathion can’t go outside without thinking of Anduin. The sun, the flowers and the rabbits remind him of Anduin. When he sees the Pandaren he thinks of Anduin. When he sees the color blue or yellow he thinks of Anduin.
Anduin used to sit by a furnace he had in his room and cuddle up with a blanket next to it and pretend he was sleeping next to Wrathion like when they were children. So the heat.
57. Whose the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart?
Wrathion throws himself into the cart and rides around, either as his grown ass man form or huge juvenile whelp form. Anduin thinks it’s really funny but embarrassing but does nothing about it.
On top of that Wrathion basically only eats protein bars, instant ramen and raw meat. Anduin hates that.
Bonus!!!
Wrathion is around 6’5 for me. Anduin is 6’0. When they fight, Anduin gets a chair so he can stand on it and be taller just to yell in Wrathion’s face. Every time he does it, Wrathion’s laughing too hard for Anduin to stay mad.
They swear that is the only reason they’re still married sometimes.

Well, like, I kiiiind of mean it that way? Like, specifically, in as much as the fandom (and, to a fucked up degree, Blizz) has written it so that there are weird hints that Wrathion does kind of have a somewhat romantic-type interest in Anduin (like, the short story where he's brooding over the fact that he thought Anduin ~cared about him~ reads very much romantic, and then there's the voice lines in the Wrathion Bartender), in a way like... despite the fact that Wrathion was two at the time ("in dragon years!" notwithstanding), Anduin was clearly just as adolescent even if he was older. Was Wrathion's delusion that he was more experienced/wiser/adult necessarily correct? Does it hold up to scrutiny? No, the way other dragons react to Wrathion show that he was clearly also an adolescent idiot.
But in that scenario of "they were both kids, neither of whom should have had adults trying to sex them up", I do think Wrathion would be the one on the "more culpable" side of naivete/power. See also: Jaina being happy that Anduin at thirteen is not betrothed. This coming from a woman who was betrothed IIRC since birth (need to reread the Arthas book, but at least childhood), and she had a happy relationship with Arthas for a while, so I don't think she's reflexively against the whole idea; specifically, I think it's about Anduin being innocent. So in as much as Wrathion's the one lying to Anduin, if he'd been "grooming" the way you're talking out with Midha (say, going all-in with the Horde and basically trying to be [Blackdragonname] Prestor 3.0), if you added sex/romance to it, that would have been Wrathion exploiting Anduin despite the age difference... but I think now (or the sort of shadowy non-canonical post-MoP/pre-actual-Shadowlands zone that like 99% of Wranduin fic tends to be set in, especially all the stuff that just presumes they fucked during MoP despite all the evidence blatantly to the contrary), it would very clearly be the reverse and Anduin exploiting Wrathion.
Anduin has a support network; Wrathion doesn't. Anduin has (or had, now there's the damn walkabout stuff[1]) temporal power, Wrathion kind of does but it's mostly through mercenaries and is very clearly not on the same level. Like Anduin's support network is actually supportive very much to a fault; I think that's what's going on with some of the "omg I tried to kill my friends and it feels so real" characterization with him. Like he's on some level aware of, but represses, the fact that no one is actually fully honest with him, or is free of an agenda when it comes to him. Which is sympathetic, but only so much, because that's basically the price of being king.
All of this is to say, they're both dumb children and they've leap-frogged each other at various stages of development, and they're honestly both being petulant babies at the moment, albeit Anduin has a very good excuse and is probably doing the right thing in not holding power... just doing it in an incredibly irresponsible way, whereas Wrathion is basically being a vainglorious twit but is doing a better job of holding to his mission. Like I can imagine an expansion where they work together and it's cool and good and they could even have a non-twisted relationship, but it ain't here yet.
Like, obviously the whole Legion-to-BFA period was transformative for Anduin! But it's like you say, yaoi goggles, which doesn't even work because as far as we can tell, during all that Wrathion was... watching Chromie get punked over and over again? I really, really hope they do something with that in this expansion. Even just an explanation of what he was up to would be nice.
[1] Although even that kind of shows how cosseted Anduin is? Like we all know that regardless of whether or not he goes full Shadowreaper Anduin, he will 100% be enabled in strolling right back to the throne whenever he wants to be, with zero consequences or even questions asked. It sucks, because he is also being manipulated by the people who enable him (Jaina, Genn, Bolvar, etc. They're all older, they all have agendas, and as much of a mess as Varian was, it seems like he Got That wrt: politics of the friendly, and Anduin... does not. Even his "I <3 Shaw because Shaw tells it to me straight!" is like, classic con man/grifter tactics, even though I don't think Shaw is aware of that himself[2] or trying to do it... but still. TBH, the only reason Tyrande and Malfurion don't really count is because they're supremely distracted/distant from the Alliance and Anduin wasn't on the Cosmic Power A-Plot A-Team, power-level-wise, until Shadowlands. If Anduin had been the junior member of The Avengers[3] he has since been shown to be like during Cataclysm or Legion or whatever, they 100% would have made him their little monkey-boy, especially given how heart-eyes he gets over Tyrande giving him a mere kiss on the cheek... which actually just makes me think how great it would have been in Legion if Anduin had been allowed/allowed himself to be in it (sure, Varian wanted him to stay home, but Varian was dead and Genn's not his dad), because Anduin deserves to hang out with Khadgar.)
[2] Like, Shaw is explicitly partnered with a man who lives in a kingdom that executes people for stealing jewelry. He should know better, and like, maybe you can blame all that shit on Daelin or Priscilla Ashvane or even Katherine Proudmoore, hopefully that's not something Jaina is complicit in, but like... Shaw's reaction is basically to think about SI:7 and be like "yeah the world is terrible", and as a Shaw/Edwin truther, it's kind of fucked up. Shaw's sense of morality is pretty busted. He spends all this time thinking about how Anduin is a naive kid, and I'd argue Anduin's naivete literally extends to thinking Shaw is being straight with him, because NOPE. And Shaw should know that, and could choose to be honest... but isn't. Almost like monarchy is a fundamentally impossible form of government that inevitably fails! Anyway.
[3] It's interesting that we still don't actually know Anduin's Power Level at all, given the whole Jailer shenanigans. Apparently his being able to call on the Light even in the Maw is a big deal (which makes The Maw seem like a weird metaphor for a black hole even more than it already was), but that doesn't help him from getting utterly owned by the Jailer. Jury's out on who the "Child of Light and Shadow" in the creepy tree prophecy is, but Anduin's not a worse candidate than Illidan (don't see any Light there tbh) or Arator (fits the bill with his overly thematic parents AND he's named The Redeemer. Given Son of the Wolf and Velen's gushing he's obviously strong, but like... strong in potential, or actually strong?

I think Anduin is pretty bland and generic, and that Wrathion is the one with any personality in their interactions.

Fr tho I think it will be great to see wranduin in the war within because in mop and bfa wrathion was the one who was an absolute emotional disaster and anduin has at least some semblance of his shit together
But dragonflight sees wrathion becoming more emotionally stable and addressing his intimacy problems. Now anduin is the one who's an absolute wreck. I'm kind of here for it

I love how the evidence for Wrathion not being corrupted boils down to "he says so" and all the evidence for Sabellian being corrupted boils down to "projecting based on stuff with no in-game evidence".
Here is what we actually know about Wrathion:
Ate the heart of Lei Shen, a being who was extremely corrupted by the Old Gods. Lei Shen was a mogu, and it's important to remember that mogu are Titan constructs like everyone from Odyn on down, and specifically that they suffered the effects of the Curse of Flesh. He was also a terrible tyrant and just generally a jerk. And Wrathion both admires him openly in dialogue with Anduin in the Tavern in the Mists and then consumed his heart for power.
In the whole Visions of N'Zoth content, Wrathion introduces a "nominal amount of corruption" into the heart chamber. Yes, mechanically he also gives you the power to resist via the cloak, but uhhh... yeah. To be fair, a lot of other people who should know better make this mistake, including Magni.
In Ny'alotha, Wrathion bargains with and frees Azshara. You know, "the king of diamonds has been made a pawn" Azshara? The one who both stood up to, bargained with, and then released N'Zoth?
Wrathion made this bargain to free Azshara in exchange for our old pal knaifu/Xal'atath, who is herself a very weakened old god. Note that it's incredibly heavily implied that when Azshara fucks off to wherever she's going to participate in the "battle that truly matters", what she is doing is going into space to either become part of or quite possibly actually found the zerg, which may neatly tie right back into Warcraft via timeloops and/or The Nexus of HotS. Like, it's already pretty well-implied that Valerian Mengsk is effectively genetically identical to Anduin, and that Saa'ra the Naaru in Netherlight Temple is basically the reincarnation of Sara Kerrigan.
To defeat N'Zoth, Wrathion... stabs him with knaifu. In other words, he takes a relatively small Old God and uses it to stab a bigger, more threatening Old God. Now, there's a bit of "always go for the smaller evil if you have to pick between two of them" going on here, but it's still worth pointing out that Wrathion very obviously both considers himself effectively immune to Old God influence (which is dumb) and can easily be manipulated. We have no idea where Xal'atath is at this point, or what she's up to, or if she consumed all of N'Zoth's power and used her own mind-warping abilities to scuttle off scot-free. But hey, Wrathion did a sweet stabby-stabby dive, so obviously he's Pure.
Wrathion's title in the Ny'alotha AU was literally the Black Emperor, given all the stuff that's been dropped in Uldaman about Odyn/Loken's regime kind of whitewashing their own history... but in as far as the PCs are in the timeline they're in and all, what this points to is that at least some version of Wrathion is corruptable, because everyone is.
I like Wrathion a lot, he's actually a very interesting character, but honestly? An awful lot of his stans seem to mostly get heart eyes over the very idea Wranduin, project massively onto one or both characters, and then completely ignore the plot of the actual game and like 99% of the writing that's in there, including who Wrathion actually is.
The fact that Wrathion is a dumb, emotionally-motivated child who means well makes him more likely to fall victim to the scheming of the Old Gods. It's essentially a way in which he is attackable and manipulable. It even gets called out in the intro quest for the BFA cloak: the generic villain lady (who is a boss later in Ny'alotha) flat out says that his obsession with the dragonflight's legacy will be his undoing.
The Old Gods very much have Wrathion's number, from everything that has been shown in both MoP and BFA. In fact, his self-perception that he is not corrupted is most likely one of the biggest psychological handles for manipulating him that they have.
As for Sabellian, there's one quest in Outland/BC Shadowmoon Valley that indicates there's an Old God presence there, but that's about it. The only reason to suggest he might be corrupted is just that he acts kind of haughty and is single-minded about the Bigger Picture mission, and yet that replies to an astonishing number of plot level NPCs that the fandom is convinced are good dudes, from Khadgar to Thrall.
I thought my analysis on a damn YouTube video for Dragonflight was cool so here is my two cents:
[copy and pasted]
Hey, so I haven’t had much time to play, but I will start this comment off by saying I love Wrathion. Very much. I haven’t gotten far enough to see Sabellian, so I’ve just been watching cinematics (they keep showing up when I open YouTube)
I personally am torn between them. Yes, yes, Wrathion is very young, very impulsive and very hot headed. But he seems to have the flight’s best interest in mind. He was literally torn apart and put back together with spare parts for the purpose of living past Deathwing’s legacy and making sure the black dragonflight are redeemed. His pompous approach towards the subject is understandable, because he feels like he suffered the most for the flight. He had the weight of the world on his shoulders from a young age, and while he was a little brat, he acted out of what he thought would be right for the world. When he returns in Battle For Azeroth, he still just wants to help. He wants to right his own wrongs on top of the wrongs of Deathwing. His entitlement is justified, in my eyes.
Although, another thing to consider is that Sabellian spent his time in Outland cleansing the black dragonflight of madness after freeing himself from it, instead of just slaughtering them like the player and Wrathion did. As the last living child of Deathwing (though I suppose the reason Wrathion thinks of Deathwing as a father is because maybe one of the whelp corpses he is made of was a child of Deathwing, or he is referring to him as the father of the black dragonflight, much like how the reds refer to Alexstrazsa as mother or grandmother) Sabellian thinks of Wrathion as a child, and he is. He looks down on him. He sees himself as much better. He is experienced in leading and patience with long tasks.
Now, here is my theory:
I think Sabellian is still corrupted. I think he figured out how to hide it or control it for a time, especially laying low after Deathwing was slain and when N’Zoth returned, just at points where he would surely be killed as well. Maybe the Old Gods’ influence lingers after they die, or maybe Sabellian has just been so far gone that the Old Gods’ corrupting him is no longer needed, as he is already mad.I think he wants full control over Azeroth to be able to manipulate her and her inhabitants when he wants. He is not carrying Deathwing’s legacy, he is making his own. And he refuses to play second fiddle to a bratty child dragon who was supposed to die with everyone else years ago.
Wrathion is hot headed, yes, but he also wants to help Azeroth, his home, and his flight. He has always wanted to help, even if he messed up. He would not have returned so obviously and stayed near Sillithus if he didn’t want to help. Sabellian just... seems to want the title. At least so far. He expresses no interest in Azeroth or helping the cause, and only expresses interest in the black dragonflight when it involves his leading and control of them.
Anyway, tl;dr: I think Sabellian is still corrupted and just jumping on bandwagon “Wrathion is just a baby” hate. Team Wrathion!
These are just my opinions on what I have seen!
Sorry for errors if there are any, I’m on mobile.
