Make Like An Atom
Summary: In which Nick’s “brother” is having his partner join a cult, and Nick might just have one or two grievances about that.
Characters: Nick Valentine, [Male] Sole Survivor (Nathan “Nate” West), Grand Zealot Richter; mentions of DiMA, Kasumi Nakano, Brian Virgil, Old Longfellow, High Confessor Tektus, Ellie Perkins, Father/Shaun, Paladin Danse, original Nick Valentine, Kenji Nakano, Eddie Winter, Piper Wright, Nat Wright, Dogmeat, Codsworth, Synth Shaun, John Hancock, Skinny Malone, Jennifer Lands.
Pairing: [Male] Sole Survivor/Nick Valentine.
Warnings: cult-related business, use of derogatory language toward the mentally ill (nothing people don’t call the Children of Atom in canon), radiation poisoning, description of vomiting; mentions of death, murder, execution, firearm usage.
Disclaimer: The Sole Survivor in this is based off how I played him - personality, looks, choices and all.
Notes: First Fallout 4 fic. Takes place during Far Harbor, and after the main story. I’ve always thought it was really sweet how genuinely worried Nick sounds when the Sole Survivor has to join the Children of Atom (he sounds like he’s trying to talk them out of it when it comes to going into the Nucleus), so here’s a fic about Nick being concerned about his bf joining a cult that worships something that could potentially kill him. Cause y’know you probably would be too. And let’s be real: that scene where the SS has to drink the irradiated water must look worrying as hell from Nick’s point of view.
Extra notes: This fic has literally been sitting around for about a year and I’m sick of having it hanging over me, mocking me, so I’m using the excuse of the “obligatory posting Nick Valentine content on Valentine’s Day” to finally get the damn thing posted.
All material belongs to Bethesda.
Fic available on AO3.
…
This is going too far. To hell with it - it’s already gone too far.
Nick honestly - shamefully - hadn’t thought much of it when DiMA wanted Nate to pose as a new recruit for the Children of Atom in order to gain access to their base. His mind had been so clogged with the recent revelations: the possibility of DiMA being family, this supposed information that his own head is failing to store all of his memories, Kasumi’s worries that DiMA is up to mischief, the fact that this case is proving to be a bigger doozy than just leaving the familiarity of the Commonwealth to find one lost girl.
And besides - the Children haven’t seemed like that big a threat until this point, at least in Nick’s experience. There’d been those who had attacked when people had trespassed upon their property (but, hey, who doesn’t do that in the Commonwealth?), but the bunch he and Nate had encountered in the Glowing Sea had been friendly, if just weary. Friendly enough, at least, to give them directions to Virgil’s cave, and to do no more than that.
Turns out, the folks back in Far Harbor had been right when they said everything on this island was bred nastier than that of the Commonwealth. Even extends to the people.
Stumbling upon the Children’s little ‘test of faith’ was not only proof of that, but a pretty fine wake-up call.
It’d been an even bigger wake-up call when the Grand Zealot told Nate what he’d need to do, to see if ‘Atom’ wanted Nate in their beloved group: go and drink irradiated water from the spring nearby and see what ‘Atom’ showed him.
Of course - Nate being Nate - he’d headed off without hesitation, and once they’d gotten to the spring and their geiger counters had started going haywire, Nick had had to speak up. He’d tried to suggest they just lie and say they did it.
Nate had brought up the prospect of them saying the wrong thing and losing the chance to get into the submarine base; joining up and thus doing what the Children asked of him was the only way to get in through non-violent means, like DiMA had wanted (not that non-violent means wouldn’t have been the plan anyway, as Nick’s proud to say he and his guy are on the same page about unnecessary violence).
Nick knows Nate well enough to know that he was going to go through with drinking the damn water, no matter what Nick said, so Nick had told him to at least take a Rad-X before doing this, but Nate had frustratingly turned that down too by ‘reminding’ him that the Children were obviously hoping the rads would do something to him, and the Rad-X might stop that from happening. Assured him he’d be fine, he’s gotten dosed with rads before, they have RadAway handy, everything will be fine.
Then he’d cupped his hands under the trickling water, brought it to his lips and swallowed it down.
Nick can’t begin to describe the panic that’d shot through him when Nate had choked, spraying water from between his teeth as he fought not to spit it out, and collapsed against the rocks, violently coughing, gasping for air; Nick had raced to grab the RadAway from their supplies immediately when he’d heard Nate gasp like he was shocked, and he’d looked up to find Nate staring, staring, up at the rocks above them, at…at something. When Nick had looked, he’d seen nothing - there’d been nobody there, his detection programming wasn’t picking up anything, but Nate had obviously been so sure, for he’d tracked it with his eyes as he’d stumbled away from the rocks, out of the spring, following this…thing he was seeing.
And then he’d taken off, staggering into Fog so thick, he’d almost immediately become a silhouette, and Nick had torn after him, calling for him and asking him what was wrong, what was he seeing.
He hadn’t gotten any answers at the time; Nate was muttering to himself, looking around like the world was unfamiliar to him, and Nick had turned up his auditory receptors to hear him. Occasionally, Nate would stop and say something to somebody - a confused “E-Excuse me,” or “Hello?” - or tell himself this couldn’t be real, and a couple of times, Nick had nearly jumped out of his synthetic skin when Nate had cried out in alarm and stopped suddenly like he was avoiding something, nearly making Nick crash into him.
Nick’s just glad he’d been coherent enough to take down the ferals waiting for them at the shrine Nate’s delusions had led them to. The second Nate had stopped talking nonsense and seemed to come back to reality - when Nick could hear him trying to work out the password to the terminal in the shrine - Nick had been pulling his sleeve up to find a vein to pump RadAway into, ushering Nate to sit down outside while he recovered.
Frighteningly, Nate’s face had been grey, he’d been bleeding from his nose and from the scrapes on his forehead and cheeks from where he’d crashed into the rocks back at the spring, and Nick had spotted a few loose strands of hair on the shoulders of Nate’s coat. Before Nick could get a needle into his arm, Nate had swatted his hands away, grunted out a request for him not to look, and had promptly vomited onto the ground beside them, which brought perhaps a small amount of relief that the poisoned water was officially out of Nate’s system (alongside some of that mirelurk jerky Longfellow had given him).
Once he’d successfully started to get RadAway into Nate’s system and collected a purified water from their supplies to wash his mouth out, Nick had wrenched Nate’s road goggles up into his shaggy hair to see the dazed and fatigued look in his bloodshot eyes, and he’d asked Nate how many fingers he was holding up to check how well the RadAway was flushing the so-called vision from Nate’s system. Even treated him to a stimpak for the wounds on his face, once the radiation allowed for proper healing again.
That’d been another little wake-up call: the rads. Maybe he’d thought too little of it before. There’s no way the Nucleus is as bad as the Glowing Sea, but if it’s enough to keep these fanatics happy…Well, they might be out of their depth here.
Or, at least…Nate is.
There’d been some icon…thing in the shrine, and the Grand Zealot is so pleasantly shocked when Nate shows it to him (because, of course, even to these crazies, Nate would turn out to be something special), and then comes the point of no return.
“I am ready to follow His path,” Nate says.
“Then it will be so,” the Grand Zealot replies.
Nick can’t help himself; he speaks up without even really thinking about it.
“I’m not sure this is such a good idea,” he says. “We barely know these people.”
He catches the slight twitch of Nate’s head as he just barely stops himself from turning around and looking at Nick, and the Grand Zealot looks at him with disdain but says nothing to him. He sees the way Richter looks at Nate, as if expecting Nate to say something in his place, probably tell ‘his’ synth to pipe down, but Nate doesn’t acknowledge it, so Richter goes on like Nick isn’t even there.
He gives a nod to the icon in Nate’s hand. “Head inside and present the icon to the High Confessor once his sermon is done. He’ll be interested in seeing that. Once you’ve spoken with him, you should come see me. Have a task I think you’d be useful for.”
Nick doesn’t like the way he says that.
“And here.”
Richter reaches back and holds a hand out to the guard standing behind him, who hands him a mass of dark fabric and a pair of boots, and Richter gives these to Nate.
“Some more…appropriate attire.” His already-serious expression turns into a harsh frown. “But know this: we are all devoted servants to Atom here. Messenger or no, actions against the Family will not be tolerated.”
Glancing at the body still strewn on the ground nearby, Nick thinks back to the ‘test of faith’ and his coolant turns to ice.
The frown lets up; does this man ever smile?
“Welcome, brother.”
Icon tucked under his arm, Nate looks the outfit over, then smiles with a nod and tells Richter he’s just going to change into this, he’ll meet him inside.
Richter gives him a nod, and Nate and Nick are left outside as Richter disappears into the Nucleus.
Nate gives a huff of a chuckle as he turns around, carrying the bundle of fabric, the boots and the icon as he leads the way back in the direction they’d come.
“You’re gonna blow my cover with talk like that, Nick,” he says quietly over his shoulder as Nick follows him.
“Can’t say I’d be sorry to,” Nick says honestly and just as quietly. “I’m tellin’ ya, doll, I’ve got a bad feeling about all this, and my ‘bad feelings’ are rarely wrong. Come on. Maybe we should just focus on getting Kasumi home - make like DiMA and forget about all this.”
“What, and lose the chance to find out what’s in DiMA’s memories, even though it could end up affecting this whole island?” Nate says with a hint of dramatics, then gives a small snort as he adds, more seriously, “Doesn’t sound like the Nick I know…”
He disappears behind one of the junk fences lining the Children of Atom’s land; Nick stays on the other side to give Nate his privacy, trying to look nonchalant as he feels the eyes of the man at the door on him.
“Yeah, well, the Nick you know didn’t have to watch you poison yourself with rads and go running off into dangerous Fog whilst prattling on about some figure you were seeing. This Nick did, so he’s starting to think this whole ‘joining the Children of Atom’ thing might’ve been a step too far.”
“No turning back now,” Nate says, and Nick can hear the shrug.
Nick frowns softly and opens his mouth to reply, only to stop when the collar of Nate’s coat (the one Ellie had given him as part of the detective outfit he’d received along with the offer of being Nick’s new partner, old clothes of Nick’s) falls into view as it hits the ground, and another shot of ice goes through Nick’s coolant.
That coat has been fitted with ballistic weave, so Nate is shedding his armour for the sake of this charade - meaning he’ll have no protection if someone tries to hurt him.
God knows Nate’s been through some dangerous stuff, and he’s done amazing things since clambering out of Vault 111. He’s already played double agent before, in both the Institute and the Brotherhood (triple agent? Quadruple?), and those had had their own fair share of risks too, but this is…this is different. The Institute were overzealous boogeymen, and Nate had had his son’s good word to protect him, and the Brotherhood were high and mighty zealots who just liked to hear Nate say ‘Ad victoriam’, and they’d trusted Danse’s vouching for him, but these people?
Well, they’re just plain off their rockers, and there’s nobody this time around to make sure Nate is left unbothered in this irradiated hell of unpredictable cultists. And he wishes Nate wouldn’t just…dive head-in and play the hero so recklessly.
(He’s being a huge hypocrite, of course, and Ellie would laugh at his claim about having ‘feelings’ at all about cases, but this isn’t about him, it’s Nate who’s in danger here.)
“Sure there is,” Nick replies. “We just don’t go in an’ let these people try and indoctrinate us.”
“They’re already expecting me, Nick,” Nate says; his tie is discarded onto his coat. “I found this…icon thing, remember? And I saw the, ah,” he puts on a deeper voice of faux-awe, “‘Mother of the Foooog’!”
(Nick might’ve laughed, in another situation.)
“Besides,” Nate goes on over the sound of rustling fabric, “what would we tell DiMA if we didn’t even get to go into the Nucleus? What would we tell Kasumi?”
Nick arches a brow. “That the plan was nuts and we didn’t wanna go through with it?”
“Nick…” Nate says through a fond chuckle. There’s a beat where Nick only hears the shuffling of fabric again, then Nate adds, “We’ve already committed ourselves to the cause. You really wanna just leave Kasumi’s worries floating in the wind like that?”
No, of course, he doesn’t, but…
“Well, we…don’t hafta do it this way. Found another way into the Institute, we can find another way into this place, even if we just…grab ourselves a couple Stealth Boys and wing it.”
“Ah! Sooo, what you’re saying is: I drank some poisoned water foooor…nothing?”
Of all the times to show his wit…
“Nate…”
“Why the hesitation, Nick?” Nate says. “Kasumi’s counting on us, DiMA’s expecting results and the Children already think I must be some sort of figure the ‘Mother of the Fog’ is speaking through or…something. Besides -”
There’s a beat where Nate doesn’t say anything, just gives a grunt, and then there’s the clicking of metal.
Then comes a soft thud and Nick looks to see that it’s Nate’s shoe that has hit the ground, landing atop his fallen coat and tie, and he realises Nate is changing into those boots - that clicking had been the sound of his prosthetic foot being shimmied out of its shoe.
“ - this is an opportunity, remember? To find out if DiMA was telling the truth about you guys having history. Aren’t you excited about that, at least?”
“Not sure ‘excited’ is the word for it…” Nick mutters, brow furrowed as he casts his gaze to the ground, catching the sight of Nate’s second shoe joining the first out of the corner of his eye.
It’s been an uncomfortable lump in the back of his mind ever since DiMA apparently recognised him, the prospect that DiMA is right and Nick has just…forgotten him.
When he’d awoken in that junk pile, still of half a mind that he was the real Nick Valentine, he’d just assumed he was blending in with that which was around him: trash. The Institute’s trash that they’d - he didn’t know - gotten bored of. Maybe he wasn’t doing what he was told and so the Institute got tired of trying to tie their strings to his wrists and make him dance, maybe they’d just found a new project and decided this dingy old prototype wasn’t fun to poke and prod at anymore.
The idea that someone wanted him out, helped him escape…no. Never been a thought. With the way the Institute treated synths, the very idea of mercy, let alone help, was laughable. But a second prototype…sure, he’s wondered if he was the only one ever made, but the fact that another prototype had not only been made and been with him that whole time, but had assisted him in getting out, is…well, it’s knocking a screw loose.
Another prototype…A ‘sibling’. A ‘brother’. Is that how it works? Are they family because they were on the same assembly line? Because they were…‘raised’ together?
When he thinks of his time in the Institute, he thinks of the single room he was in, the feeling of knowing somebody’s eyes were always on him, the yanking of parts coming loose in his head as they pulled him apart and put him back together, but he never thinks of a face like his own. Of someone…being there, with him, in the room.
Was it DiMA’s eyes that were always on him, or their creator’s, or both?
It’s all so confusing, he’s dangerously close to being overwhelmed - so the fact that they’re getting nearer and nearer to potential proof is causing him all sorts of levels of trepidation. If DiMA is right about them being brothers, then he’s right about everything else: that he really is just forgetting things because he can’t stuff anymore memories into his head. He hadn’t remembered Kenji at first, after all…and if he can’t fit anymore memories in, then…how long will it be before his hardware starts tossing out other things, important things, more recent things? The good times he’s had as of late, the fact that he’d completed his mission to get revenge on Winter, the people he knows and loves? Their motley crew back at Sanctuary, and the likes of Piper, Nat, Codsworth, Dogmeat, Shaun, Ellie…Nate…?
The idea of that, it…it scares him. Badly.
But that isn’t what’s important right now. What is important is the fact that DiMA’s little plan is putting Nate in the heart of an irradiated cult who carelessly gun down their own and want to shove rads down Nate’s throat until he’s as sickly and insane as the rest of them.
“And I appreciate how eager ya are to help me with that,” Nick goes on, “but…”
“But…?” Nate presses him.
Nick hesitates, then comes out with it: “But no answer would be worth it…if it costs you, doll.”
There comes silence then, even the sounds of outfits being changed has stopped, and Nick waits for Nate’s answer to that. No doubt, some other attempt at getting him to agree to this harebrained scheme, knowing Nate. He does love what a do-gooder his guy is, but even he has his limits.
“...Nick, could you…come back here with me for a moment? I, uh…don’t think I’m putting this on right.”
Nick blinks once, surprised.
Not the response he’d expected from putting his heart on his sleeve; Nate’s priorities are getting a little skewed. Besides, he hadn’t thought those robes looked particularly difficult to put on - looked sort of just like a jumper and some trousers to him - but heck, what does he know about the uniforms of these loons?
“Uh…alright,” he says confusedly, putting a hand to the fence as he turns on the spot.
He steps behind the junk wall, and before he can process the sight of Nate before him in full uniform, the lapels of his coat are grabbed and he’s pulled forward so suddenly he nearly falls, and Nate’s body is crushed against his in a hug.
Caught off-guard, Nick takes a moment to fully recognise what’s happening, his body frozen and his hands hovering in the air, then his autonomy comes back to him and he returns Nate’s hug, slowly. His hands go to Nate’s upper back and he holds him as he feels Nate lean his head against his own, shifting his fedora. The man’s got only two inches of height over him, but somehow, he’s one of the few people who have ever made Nick feel…small.
“I’ll be alright, Nick,” Nate says, close to Nick’s ear, warmly but seriously. “I promise. I’m not gonna let them talk me into doing anything that I can’t happily be a part of. We’re just gonna go in there, grab DiMA’s memories and go, and we’ll figure the rest out later.” There’s a beat. “Besides, you…do know this is just an act, right? That I don’t really believe in all this ‘Atom’ junk?”
“Course I know,” Nick says, then sighs through his nose. “It’s just that this meeting with the Children of Atom turned out…a little different than what I expected. The folks we came across in the Glowing Sea didn’t even point a gun at us, but these people…”
He gives another small sigh, then breaks the hug so he can look Nate in the face, transferring his hands to Nate’s waist instead as he remains in Nate’s personal bubble.
Looking him in the face has become slightly more rewarding, since Nate has had the courtesy of moving his road goggles up into his chestnut brown hair, giving Nick the opportunity to have his own yellow eyes lock with Nate’s hazel-blue ones.
“Just…watch what you say in there, will ya? Don’t want you endin’ up like that other guy.”
He glances in the direction of the man who had been killed, and Nate puts a hand to Nick’s cheek and turns his head to bring Nick’s attention back to him.
“I always watch what I say. And if I don’t, well - I got you around to keep me in line, right?” he asks, and when he gets a small smile, he leans forward to kiss it.
Nick gladly returns his kiss, turning it from a simple peck to a deeper smooch, enough that both of them close their eyes and hold it for a few calming seconds before Nate breaks it to smile at him.
Nick still looks concerned, thinking back to the image of Nate, dazed and pale, bleeding from his nose, starting to lose his hair, sitting next to his own puke. Nate’s been hit with rads on their travels before, but Nick had never seen him look so…ill.
“Don’t suppose you…packed your hazmat suit?”
He knows how ridiculous he sounds - if Nate packed his suit, Nick would know it, his bag ain’t that spacious - and such as it is, Nate laughs at the prospect.
“No, I didn’t,” he adjusts Nick’s lapels, straightening them from where he’d grabbed at them, “and we don’t really have the time to head back to Sanctuary to pick it up. I’d…probably be offending them, anyhow.” He gives a hiss of a laugh. “They’d probably accuse me of,” he puts on a deeper, dramatic voice, “blocking Atom’s holy touch! Such blasphemy!”
Nick can’t help the short chuckle that leaves him as he hangs his head.
“Alright…” he says wearily. “I can see when I’m beat.” He lifts his head back up to look Nate in the eye seriously. “But you tell me if you start gettin’ sick, alright? Don’t try and play the tough guy act and muscle through it, not even if one of those Children are around to hear you complaining…I’m not losin’ you to rad poisoning.”
“I could end up as a Ghoul instead.” Nate shrugs a shoulder, looking up like he’s genuinely thinking about this. “Hancock’s always saying I’d make a great Ghoul.”
“Yeah, well, he would.” He gives Nate’s waist a shake. “But I’m bein’ serious here.”
“I know, Nick. I’ve been watching my rad count ever since I realised my Pip-Boy has a geiger counter.” Nate looks at him and smirks. “Since when did you go all Mother Hen?”
“Since my guy decided drinking poisoned water for the sake of a bunch of cultists was a good idea.”
“Leeet’s be honest here, Nick: is it really…the weirdest thing I’ve ever done?”
“I’ll get back to you on that verdict,” Nick says dryly, “depending on what happens next.”
Nate laughs, leaning in to Nick’s embrace, and thusly, Nick brings him in and holds him close.
Best thing to happen to him in perhaps ever, this man; saved him from Skinny Malone, from wrestling with the original Nick Valentine’s past for the rest of his days, had so happily helped him find all those holotapes, stood aside and let him kill Eddie Winter on his own and then stood by him where Jennifer Lands had died and let Nick say his piece. Brought him on this whirlwind of an adventure that culminated in exterminating the boogeyman that had had the Commonwealth running scared for so long - and through it all, went ahead and made Nick fall for him.
How many of Nick’s clients could say they’d done that?
Just the one - this one right here, in Nick’s arms (though he hasn’t been just a client for a long while now).
So if anything happens to Nate while they’re carrying out this plan of DiMA’s, Nick will be taking his grievances straight back to ‘bro’.
Nate pulls back from their hug, and Nick rests his metal hand on Nate’s cheek, thumb brushing tenderly over the sideburn lining his jaw, before Nate takes a step back, removing himself from Nick entirely. He pulls his road goggles back down over his eyes, then ushers Nick over with a quick curl of his fingers.
“Here,” he says, “gimme your hand.”
“Hm?”
Nick watches as Nate stoops to pick up a boot, and only then does Nick realise their hug had interrupted Nate completing his new look: his right foot’s found its way into the new boot the Children have provided, while the left is naked, since Nate doesn’t bother putting a sock on his prosthetic.
“Oh,” Nick says, understanding, and offers a hand for Nate to hold so he can balance himself as he goes to one foot, shimmying the boot over his fake foot.
Once he’s finally managed to get it on, he’s all set. Nate steps back and holds out his hands to put himself on display.
“So,” he says, “how do I look?”
Nick looks him up and down, taking in the sight of Nate in the baggy, dark robes, and he replies exasperatedly, “Like a fanatic.”
“Hm - that’s great,” Nate replies, ducking to collect the coat, tie and shoes of his discarded outfit (he’s wearing the robes over his shirt and trousers, evidently), “then I’ll fit right in.”
Nick can’t help the small scoff of a chuckle that leaves him as Nate stuffs his clothes into his bag. Before he can pick the bag up, Nick ducks down and retrieves a bottle of Rad-X from one of its front pockets, waving it at him.
“I’ll slip ya these when you start lookin’ pale,” Nick says. He pops open the bottle, shakes out a pill onto his palm, then holds it out. “Best to take one now, before we head in there.”
Nate hesitates, then stands up to look at Nick properly.
“Are you sure you wanna come in there with me?” he asks. “DiMA said these people accept synths, but…the looks they were giving you when we showed up…”
“Tryin’ to get rid of me, huh?” Nick asks teasingly. “Didn’t think I was being that much of a wet blanket. But you can forget it - you’re not going in there without me, no matter how these people feel. Remember: DiMA said there was some Pre-War security keepin’ the Children of Atom from getting their paws on those memories of his. Could be anything in there, and I’d feel a whole lot better about all this if I was there to watch your back.”
“Are you sure?” Nate winces and adds hesitantly, “I mean…you do look a lot like DiMA. If anyone in there has a problem with him…they could have a problem with you too.”
Nick shrugs. “Half the Commonwealth has a problem with me. Hasn’t stopped me yet.”
Nate gives him a small smile. “Alright. It’s your call. But you may have to hold me back if anybody in there says anything about you.”
“Hey, now,” Nick cracks a smile (he doesn’t approve of Nate’s wish to pummel anybody who gives him lip, but it is sweet), “DiMA wants us doin’ this without violence, remember?”
“Sure, but,” Nate stoops to collect a can of purified water from his bag, “I feel like DiMA would understand if I told him I punched a guy in your honour.”
Nate stands up and plucks the pill from Nick’s palm, sits it on his tongue, then gulps down some water. He gives a hard swallow as the pill goes down, then nods once and drinks the rest of the water from the can. He drops the can to the ground, squashes it with his prosthetic foot, then returns the metal to his bag, most likely to convert it into raw materials for building projects later; funny, what one can make with junk.
Nate picks up his bag and rolls his shoulders, clapping his hands once in preparation.
“Alright,” Nate says, “let’s do this.”
He passes by Nick to walk around the fence, and Nick sighs wearily as he watches him go.
“Yeah,” he mumbles. “Let’s.”
He follows Nate, gaining the attention of the guard by the door, who watches them closely as they approach. For a moment, Nick thinks he might be suspicious, but then the man just tells Nate that the High Confessor is in the middle of his sermon still, and that Nate should listen in.
Nate gives an obedient nod and raises a triumphant, excited fist as he slaps on a grin and exclaims, “Glory to Atom!”
As Nate disappears into the Nucleus, Nick casts the guard a deadpanned look and half-heartedly raises his own fist.
“What he said,” Nick adds dryly, and follows Nate inside.

WHAT! NO WAY!! TELL ME ABOUT YOUR OCS!
Ok ok lol I have sketches of them all but I don’t have my book
so you saw
kuma, kuma has a shape shifting ability to give her the power strength and abilities of the animal she chooses to change into, she can also communicate with animals. Using her quirk too much causes her to become more animalistic in whatever animal form she is in until she transitions back, when she does she will need a nap. She has the ‘black cat gf’ personality and her hero name is Druid, she’s dating kirishima and met him when the Bakusquad went in a camping trip in the forest she patrols when a villain attacked!
Next we have
Kasumi has a quirk similar to Minas where she can produce toxic substances instead of acid, when these substances are produced depending on how kasumi feels is the intensity and can cause melting if she’s angry enough, she can control it like a water bender with water, creating weapons and being able to just throw is and such she is also immune to her own burns. But a downside is she has to wear a gas mask when she fights because the toxic environment can make her pass out if not careful. it leaks from her eyes giving her a cool drippy affect. She has neon yellow hair and her eyes have toxic symbols in the middle of them. Kasumi ran around protecting her own area in Japan hero’s called the ‘underground’ she met bakugo her bf when she got sent to UA to officially get her hero license after running into the hero’s and explaining what she was doing, they told her to continue she needs to get her license. Bakugou enjoys how feisty is and she never backs down from a fight (Dude I love the way I deigned her hero costume 😩 I gotta show you) her hero name is Toxoplasm
Emiko
Emiko has a floral quirk giving her the ability to grow plants anywhere in a medium radius including her body, she’s runs a flower shop as she never had the heart for hero work! She’s a big softy with a big heart she’s studying psychology as well! She had long brown hair that it typically braided back with flowers in it, honey colored eyes and glasses! If you couldn’t tell I like to use her for my shoto fics when I have one in mind 😂
Kijo
Typically goes by the name Whinny because she has a winter quirk called snow storm this quirk is the total opposite of Dabi’s quirk and when used too much gives her frost burn that riddles her skin in bright blue spots. She can freeze anything within a large radius and give someone frost burn just by touching them. Her favorite way to get information is to freeze a hand and break off fingers :) She finds the league after meeting toga while they both were running from the hero’s, Kijo protected Toga so toga thought she would do well with the team, Kijo after joining has a situation ship with dabi because both of them have trauma and can’t do emotion things well. Kijo has grey eyes and medium length pastel pink hair her and dabi work well together as she cools off his quirk and his quirk keeps her warm. she also flirts hella hard with toga. Civilians call her the winter death
And lastly
Alexandra
Alex is from Scotland has a digital quirk she calls pixelated giving her the ability to move through electricity and the internet, this quirk gives her the option to basically have the internet in her eyes like scanners, she can also take certain things like say a sword from a video game and use it in real life but once it’s damaged it turns into pixels that she can hit towards people, this quirk gives her constant headaches and she cannot shut off the scanners that she calls her eyes. Despite having a hero license she works as a support item tech only using her hero stuff for emergencies her eyes help her figure out the best ways to build or fix items. Her hair is medium length Ruby red that is kept up in in a high pony ponytail she has glasses to help with headaches and her eyes glitch between colors. She met her boyfriend shinsou when she got called to Japan from her home to build gear for the hero’s. She has a very “are you fucking stupid, please leave me alone” (that’s the best way I can describe it) attitude at first but once she warms up she’s a tired goofball who lives off coffee. Her hero name is glitchy. Because of her quirk it’s easy for her to hack into systems and get intel as well… people are scared to leave electronics around her
I have one in the works no name yet with a moon quirk who has a twin with a sun quirk 😩

nonsense op this is delicious send them over anytime - i encourage whole heartedly *chef kissy back*
i also have more if you wish to chew over it haha
otherwise i will wait for whatever your drawing demons will offer!!!
how can i forget about luna!!!!! as long as mona gets to go to the country with everyone this is accepted to me (i will accept the sadder hc of mine where it is the sakura family's beloved cat who just got processed)
sumire as sybil is like such a long windy process for me to write out because in my feelings i think she fits pretty well. but logically? uh... brain broken!!! so she's getting her own section
i should also think about who's in the camerata haha
i don't know if i can handle sophia being processed wah;;; she's my baby girl too!!!
thank you for enjoying the yusuke lore!!! i also think the day yusuke hears "into the crystalline blue" he has to run after ren immediately to tell him how he felt. ren probably thought it was some intense fan confession but yusuke starts to talk about how something feels off about cloudbank and they start talking because of that. i also think yusuke probably would like to paint the sky for ren one day as thanks (but he never will because um transistor events aaa i made myself sad)
i think iwai building the transistor would be crazy cool though i remember vaguely like royce literally finding the transistor in that slot at the cradle (?) though i could be remembering wrong. if he was integrated early though because he stumbled on some knowledge early... im sad!!!!
hc accepted on us destroying makoto's bike. i don't know if you remember but there is another bike that makes it near the end of the game. i think that should also be makoto's bike. goro quips he's surprised it survived lmao
also in your tags sjkdgsdkjg "it's not the same when i can't hear you argue with me"???? i raise these canon lines below: Unknown: That's my star. Could always handle yourself. Just fine... I love you so much, Red. You know that, right? It's true. It's true...it's true. (i need to lie down) Unknown: You know I...never thought much of Highrise. Far from the water. Then I found out...you lived here. (i am decomposing as we speak-) Unknown: They got Junction Jan's? Where are we going to get our flatbread now? ... This is a tragedy. (leblanc noo-) Red (terminal): None of this is coming through anymore is it... Unknown: I think you're right. Red (terminal): Though you still hear me don't you... Unknown: Of course. Of course I do. Red (terminal): You're all I have. Unknown: Red... Red (terminal): There has to be... Red (terminal): There has to be a way to get you out of there. Unknown: We'll figure it out when we get there. Red (terminal): Yes we will. (im deceased) the unused voicelines for red for the ending? (snarky bfs together)
have you also considered red when humming and not in battle always hugs the transistor? very lovingly? as if dancing? (aaa)
Sumire as Sybil
initial thoughts for me placing sumire as sybil was the fact that she was dealing with her sister (which is why i also had that initial convoluted plot device of a sumi yoshizawa lmao). kasumi may have joined the camerata because she wanted to make her mark on the city of cloudbank through her events but as we know, everything in cloudbank is driven by polls. is it even worth it to be the best event planner when polls dictate everything? events after events... and for what? (a very loose interpretation of her goals to be top gymnast at the olympics). the idea of her heading to the country prematurely is very intriguing though!! perhaps she knew... too much.
sumire on the other hand? we're adding the same goal here - to be the best event planner - plus the feelings she has towards being her sister's shadow? if her sister disappeared and she was offered to take her sister's spot...hm... such complex feelings!!!!
why she falls in love with ren and his music is because i truly believe red in-game is depressed or at least struggling with how she sees the world and how her music is received by the people. i said before it's always in response to events happening in cloudbank but moreso in the way that she actually has controversial opinions about cloudbank lmao - people get outraged over her songs as much as people love them - hell she even has a bodyguard for these reasons, had to take some time off, and i find she censors a lot of her more controversial thoughts when she types on the terminals honestly. i like to think even my own spin with "into the crystalline blue" was ren staring at that same sky yusuke painted for ann and somehow managed to pick up some dark feelings associated with it (since ann's request is for a very sad reason). i think somehow sumire (and many others) find those kinds of dark feelings in red's songs comforting and that's what makes then really attractive... hence why the infatuation starts with the music.
sumire probably gets a chance to plan for one of ren's concerts and i can only best assume this is where she falls in love with him...until goro enters the picture. and it all falls apart from there because there's no ren to talk out her feelings like in the actual p5 game without heartbreak.
in transistor it does seem like sybil aims to save red despite giving her as a target. by having unknown take the fall, she can gain red's favour and keep her alive (by having her join them... though i think she would be very mad at this prospect). i think sumire could have thought: even if he doesn't return my affections, if i can keep ren alive through this method, surely he would join us due to our very close feelings on how we feel about cloudbank?
anyway, i always think of this line by unknown after we defeat sybil in game unknown: sybil...after our run in... i don't think she ever left i know sybil is apart of the camerata but i find it very hard to place her as an antagonist (in the evil sense) and just a person who unfortunately never had their feelings returned. she may had been contributing to the camerata as their ears and eyes in search for targets (her backdoor space sure must had been handy haha) but somehow i get the feeling she doesn't truly know about the transistor's true capabilities like royce and grant do (iffy on asher). could be wrong though haha - need to doublecheck!
anyway i also think of sybil being saved by red despite the song "in circles" playing during her boss fight. even when red's song states i won't save you (won't means being capable but not doing so)... sybil actually gets a process rate of 0%!!! i find that... oddly beautiful... in a way. she was saved... even if she could only be with red through the transistor. together forever? (it's fine we will all be happy in the country sobs)
I saw your transistor au and I'm in love with it 😍 What abilities do you think the thieves would have? Would they be the same as the game or something else? 👀
ehe thank you im glad you enjoy my scribbles about it (i will draw more soon bc brainworms)
for the q - honestly i have not thought that far if we are talking about functions ٩( ᐛ )و
im assuming anyone who has played the game can probably match who i based the thieves on but it only goes so far as who they are in cloudbank and how they contribute to the city as citizens but very loosely. it’s more fun to me to play sandbox pre-transistor events but i digress!!
thinking about it now, im not sure if i want their abilities to stick too closely to the game? for example, i based yusuke off farrah yon dale - because the concept of a skypainter who could not paint anymore is very delicious - but her function switch() doesn’t feel like yusuke? compared to say ryuji where i took some inspo from olmarq and wave tennegan but respectively the function load() and cull() could potentially work for him. open to being convinced though if you have any thoughts ✨
#p5xtransistor au#thank U op#the meal is delicious#and i will draw for this once i finish some stuff up#and i think other people should send me transistor au thoughts bc this is fun#q

You know... I can't get this idea out of my head. Like an idea a Twitter mutual and then my bf brought up on separate occasions. Basically: Sumi starts out as an asshole in Royal. Now before some of you bring out torches and pitchforks, listen to what I have to say first...
By asshole I mean that she starts out as this very snippy, overly independent person as opposed to overly dependent like she was in canon. Basically do away with the overly sweet, cutesy "nice girl" personality from canon. It would make sense considering how she felt about her sister controlling everything and not allowing her to think for herself. She would still be affected by her death but... Add the other idea of her secretly not feeling much for it or being happy at first (which is a thing that can happen to people irl and can easily tear a person up inside). It's little tricky to explain but it would be another VERY interesting subject to tackle as long as you're careful about it and keep her sympathetic. Maybe have the end of her arc be her coming to terms with Kasumi's death (also acknowledging that she was also a VERY FLAWED person as opposed to putting her on a pedestal like the game did) and also learning that it's ok to ask for and get help from others. Basically, it's ok to have a support system as long you're not overly dependent on it.
Her whole characterization would be in a nutshell: Snippy, refuses help unless backed into a corner (would be grateful but also, "I could have handled this myself" at the same time), arrogant, and oh yeah! She would still have that negative view on the PTs too until her false awakening of course! It's a very good viewpoint! Although, I can see her being insistent that she still believes in that view despite showing otherwise so yeah, add hypocrisy as a flaw I guess.
She would be also be prideful about her scholarship and skills. She's almost oblivious to the class slowly starting to resent her (partially because of the cognitive filter but still) until the dance cutscene which would be her showing off again. That would be when it fully starts to sink in as the students start badmouthing her more and that adds a blow to her self-esteem and I guess ego. Another step in her character development! Especially when despite Ren and Mona try to comfort her out of concern as opposed to pity like she thought.
Then comes her appearance in Sae's Palace which would be because she actually offered to join after her (false) awakening only for Mona and Ren to turn her down because "it's too dangerous" for her as a new Persona user instead. She desperately wants to prove them wrong... Only for them to call her out on it (especially since her showing off nearly got Ren hurt along with basically stalking him (I'm sorry, as impressive as it admittedly is, what she did was basically that. Stalking him. She apologized at least but still... Not ok at all regardless of the intent)). They're thankful but still... What was she thinking? That would start a wakeup call there... Make her really think about herself and past/present actions. Boom! More character development along with self-awareness!
Not sure how Maruki would fit into all this yet other than him still being the one who applied the filter on her but still... Also, outfit changes in true awakening because we were robbed in canon. Actually... Both outfits will change! Now someone brought up an idea of her outfit being a Swan Lake reference and holy fuck I love it! Her first outfit? The Black Swan Odile! True Awakening? The White Swan Odette! She's still independent and has her autonomy but she can also rely on others and be humbler. She becomes a whole new person but not at the expense of her character. Proper calling out and character development? Hell yes!! I may have more but oof! That's all I can remember ok?
It's just a concept that I felt like could have improved her arc and character more. Canon already showed those flaws so why not take advantage of and utilize them there in a full rewrite? 😉
#persona 5#p5#persona 5 royal#p5r#p5r spoilers#sumire yoshizawa#kasumi yoshizawa#starchild rambles#ramblings#atlus could have went so many different directions but they failed spectacularly

Mind Games Au
Kasumi is sort of aware that Sen escaped, but doesn’t know the full details. Since she’s staying the night for whatever reason, she hears the first battle and has a feeling it might be him.
Before it cuts to the second song and when Sen is revealing to be possessing BF, Kasumi comes rushing in at basically the best possible time.
-
Kasumi: Sen! *huff puff* you don’t have to possess his body! I’ve got you one right here! *she removes the tarp over what she was dragging into the study, a robotic shell that is mostly scrap metal but from the neck up and hands is a seemingly human skin, thankfully synthetic. His head almost looks exactly like it does in game, just not pixelated, and is seemingly dressed in his clothes.*
BF-Sen: Kassi! You came! *for a brief second you can almost see a ghostly tail wagging like a puppy* Wait… is that for me!? I love it!
Psyche: um…. The hell am I watching?
*for a brief moment there’s a flash of blue before leaving BF’s body, despite it looking the exact same as before and the flash flies into the robotic shell before it springs to life*
Sen: *flexes his fingers*I love it! I finally get to hold you!
Psyche: Great for you two, but there’s still a malevolent presence…
Spirit: Try anything funny and the boy gets it. Bring me that damned demon this instantly!
Psyche: I’m not sure what your deal is, but I don’t take orders from freaks of nature like you.
Psyche: You kids need to get out of here. I’m not letting this thing be a thorn in your sides either.
Kasumi: We’ll try sir!
The next two songs are the same but Spirit isn’t letting go, especially since Kasumi inadvertently made things easier for him by removing Sen from the equation.
*a microphone is thrown at spirit*
Kasumi: Hey! Period stain! Get lost!
Spirit: I had finally escaped that wretched game, and of course YOU are here to greet me...
Spirit: ...No matter...
Spirit: ...I'll just kill you three and finally get my revenge... It's really that simple...
Spirit: ...You don't mind your bodies being dissipated, right? It's only fair...
Kasumi: The only thing that will be dissipated is you!
And the new song for this au, is a Sen and Kasumi cover of Dreams of Roses except it’s more of a duet than them fighting over the microphone. I know the person who made the song is a pos but it slaps really hard, and Bara no Yume does not compete with it.
In the end, Spirit is trapped back in the game, Psyche needs some tea and Kasumi has a lot of explaining to do.

Horimiya – 06 – It’s Getting Hot in Here
It’s still rather cold in these parts, so it’s refreshing for this week’s Horimiya to take place in the middle of summer. But even if it didn’t, it still radiates warmth and good vibes from every angle. Hori’s dad sees Miyamura in his school look for the first time and momentarily wonders who the hell he is.
Once he realizes it’s Miyamura, he insists they take a bath together to wash off the day’s heat. Coincidentally, Hori is watching a TV show wherein a lecher is about to assault a young woman, only for that woman to reveal she’s a skilled MMA fighter and kicks his ass.
In addition to being an amusing prism to Miyamura and Kyosuke’s dynamic, it also foreshadows a number of wonderful subversions of typical high school rom-com clichés, which like the warm and cozy aura of its main couple has fast become Horimiya specialty.
After dinner and past 8:30, Miyamura assumes he’s “worn out his welcome”, but that’s not for him to decide. Hori’s suggests he spend the night, though it’s Hori’s dad he’ll be sleeping beside. Kyousuke doesn’t interrogate him that night, only asking what Miyamura likes about his daughter. His response: she doesn’t judge people by appearances.
While this is primarily the story of Hori and Miyamura’s understated yet potently blossoming love, it’s also the story of Miyamura being accepted for who he is by his new friends at school, as well as flat-out becoming a member of Hori’s family.
It’s in this scenario he gets to see something no one else could: Hori wearing her middle school gym uniform as pajamas (when she stomps on her father to open the blinds that morning). It’s also so goddamn lovely when Hori’s mom corrects him when he’s headed out the door. He’s family, not a guest, so he should say ittekimasu, not ojamashimashita. My heart just about burst right there, but Horimiya was just getting started!
Unfortunately, most of the kids at Miyamura’s school either don’t know what a sweet guy he is and are all too willing to judge him by his “emo” appearance. When a couple guys spot him leaving the same house with Hori, it sets off a torrent of rumors at school that they’re dating.
I like how we get a little shot of Tooru and Yuki legitimately upset by this development, with Yuki actually weeping at the prospect of things turning sour just when Miyamura and Hori got their act together. I like more how despite the unsolicited attention and rumor-mongering, Hori takes everything in perfect stride. By now she’s quite comfortable confirming that Miyamura is her boyfriend, and doesn’t need to explain that relationship to anyone.
Miyamura, however, doesn’t fare as well. A common refrain in the halls is “wait…that Miyamura?”, as Hori is both hugely popular and has rejected a number of more “conventional” suitors. So Miyamura apparently decides that if the school wants a prettier cover, they’ll get it: he arrives the next day having cut his hair short, revealing his piercings and eyelashes.
It’s an interesting and complex choice by Miyamura that instantly changes the conversation, as he becomes an immediate sensation with the ladies. Rather than do it because he’s worried about adversely affecting Hori’s reputation (though that could be part of it) it feels more like an act of empowerment. It indicates that Miyamura is well aware he’s got the goods, he’s just never flaunted them at school.
Rather than passively keeping his chin up or not listening to the murmurings, Miyamura took an active step in the realignment of the conversation around him and Hori. With his new ‘do and the striking beauty it reveals, “wait…that Miyamura?” turns to “oh, that Miyamura!”.
As one would expect, Hori isn’t used to Miyamura getting the added attention and adoration, and her reaction is to create a cold enough atmosphere around her that it shoos away the newcomers. When a girl snaps candid pics of Miyamura with their phone (without asking him, WTF!), Hori gets right in his face with a DSLR!
Despite the increased liveliness at school, what I love more than anything about both the news of Horimiya dating and Miyamura’s new look is that it doesn’t really affect their core relationship. Hori doesn’t seem hurt that Miyamura cut his hair without consulting her, and seems content with his prefab excuse that it’s summer and long hair is hot.
Hori may grow possessive at school—Miyamura is her bf; so she has every right to be!—but not so much so that she makes a federal case out of his makeover. Hori has Miyamura, and vice versa, and it’s no longer important that no one knows he’s a hottie or that they’re dating.
Since they’re the usual Horimiya, Miyamura comes home with Hori as usual, and has the unlikely but hilarious distinction of having a third distinctive look in three straight encounters with Hori’s dad. Before long, they’re answering an invite from Shindo to come to his place and help him eat bizarrely flavored hard candy.
It’s here where Miyamura again demonstrates his whimsical timing with romantic gestures, as he asks Hori how her candy tastes, then leans in and steals it from out of her mouth. She sheepishly says “he stole my candy” the way Jujutsu Kaisen’s Kasumi sheepishly says Maki stole her sword, but what he really stole was their first kiss….just like that! For the record, that candy tasted like clay, which should make the kiss that much harder to forget!
Horimiya lets that kiss simmer on the back burner a bit as we return to school, where the novelty of Miyamura’s new look has thankfully worn off…with one exception: a diminutive girl with similarly black hair and similarly blue eyes seems to be watching, following, straight-up stalking Miyamura.
When Hori and Yuki encounter her in the hall, she asks if Hori and Miyamura are dating, Hori says yes, what of it?!, and the girl beats a hasty retreat, seemingly intimidated. Miyamura’s sudden popularity bounce perfectly sets up this latest high school rom-com cliché, the new love rival, second-year Sawada Honoka.
Before long, Sawada is striding up to Miyamura and flat-out telling him to break up with Hori already, in earshot of others. But in another excellent subversion, it’s not Miyamura Sawada likes…it’s Hori. Thanks to the rumors, she’s learned Miyamura stole a march on her. But she declares she liked Hori first, and won’t accept Miyamura dating her.
This turns into a physical tug-of-war between Sawada and Miyamura, with a flustered Hori as the rope. Tooru can only watch with other classmates in amusement at the spectacle before them, and even texts Yuki to hurry over to watch. Miyamura, clearly no longer hiding who he is at school, finally forcefully grabs Hori into his arms and declares “she’s mine!”, echoing her own words when Remi prodded her about him.
After school, Sawada seemingly follows Miyamura home, only for them to realize that not only are they both heading home in the same direction, they are goddamn next-door neighbors! This is the kind of twist a show that’s built up as much goodwill and credibility as Horimiya can get away with all day long, in my book.
It also marks a further expansion of Miyamura’s relationships, as it’s clear these two aren’t going to just ignore each other from here on out. Sawada forgot her key, so he does what any decent person would do and invites her over to sample some cake from his family’s bakery. Their ensuing conversation starts with, but is not dominated by, Hori, as Sawada learns Hori rarely visits Miyamura’s place since he always goes to her place.
Sawada also assumed that Miyamura had a little brother or sister, since he’s clearly good at taking care of people. Miyamura laughs at that comment, which reminds Sawada of the older brother she says she “had”—past tense—before laughing it off herself. She’s saved by the bell when her folks come home, so she heads out, but Miyamura says she’s always welcome to stop by for some cake.
Miyamura isn’t fooled by Sawada’s last-second fakeout. Sure enough, he learns from his mom that the Sawadas lost their eldest son some time last year, who attended a different school from Izumi but was “such a nice boy”.
At first I wondered why the character designer took such pains to make Sawada so closely resemble Miyamura—was she his long-lost little sister? When we learned she liked Hori, I abandoned that theory as a bridge too far for this show, but it isn’t lost on me how quickly and easily Miyamura is portrayed as a potential surrogate big bro.
Sure enough, the next day Sawada is hounded by three boys, and she retreats to Miyamura, digging her head in his back. It only takes a momentary glare from Miyamura to disperse the lads, but it can’t be understated how glad Sawada must’ve been to have him in that moment. Naturally, when Hori shows up they’re back to competing over who likes Hori more.
Finally, in another wonderful use of what Hori’s watching on TV as a reflection of what goes on in the Hori household, she is forcing both Miyamura and, more pointedly, her dad, to watch a horror movie in which a daughter kills her father. It underscores both Hori’s taste in cinema and the tactics she’ll use to try to get her dad to leave the room, which he eventually does.
Almost the moment her dad’s gone, Hori brushes her knees together and tries her hand at Miyamura’s patented casual romantic utterances, stating “you never make any moves on me, huh.” When Miyaura responds by asking “do you want me to?” she turns red with embarrassment, causing him to chuckle over how cute she looks. Then he asks what kind of moves she wants him to make, then leans in to kiss her.
Kyousuke barges back in asking for change to buy his smokes, and the two lovebirds immediately separate, invoking her dad’s cheeky suspicion, and causing Hori to attempt to reenact the dad-murdering scene from the movie. While I’d hoped they could have shared their first kiss in which both of them were aware a kiss was going to happen here and now, at least they didn’t chicken out; they were simply interrupted. They’ll soon learn to seek places with a bit more privacy!

"Cheers!" All five members of Poppin' Party, plus Seth and Marina, clink their plastic glasses together in celebration of another successful live show. Kasumi, ecstatic as always, gets half a smile from Arisa, who pleads for Saya to help her. O-Tae and Rimi make small-talk about how they can synchronize their instruments more, while Marina and Seth make idle talk while Seth packs up. "Where are you going, Seth? I thought you liked to stay behind for a little bit." "Prior reservation, Marina." Seth zips his signature green backpack up and hoists it onto a shoulder. "I normally would, but this is really important." "Like, bad important?" "Nah. Just important." Marina raises an eyebrow. It's rare that Seth leaves early, but when he does, it's critical business. "What'cha doing, then? If you don't mind me asking." "Baking cookies." "With who?" "That's classified information." "Just tell me who." "No." "Why not?" "You're going to bully me about it." "I am not! Just tell me who it is." "Lisa." Marina laughs. "Lisa? I knew you liked her- I just didn't expect you two to be going on a date this early." "Shut the fuck up, Marina. I hate you." Seth takes a sip of his drink- Brisk raspberry tea- to cover the fact that he's clearly very flustered. "What's wrong with liking Lisa? You two would be cute together!" "Yukina and Sayo would probably kill her, Ako's a wild card, and Rinko... Rinko's fine. But the first two of them would get mad." "Why?" "They'd be all like, oh, 'Lisa, you're no longer totally dedicated to Roselia, either dump him or dump the band.' And I don't wanna be the reason she has to give up Roselia." "There's no guarantee they'd be mad, Seth. I mean, those reactions are a little in-character, but- it's best to be honest, you know?" "I do know." Seth opts to look at his drink instead of Marina. "I just don't wanna be honest." "Seth..." The person in question picks his head up. "Aren't you and Lisa already great friends? Her face lights up when she sees you! I can tell she's interested in what you like- I mean, she asked for another one of your Letterbomb shirt, right? And she always saves a pastry for you after practices. I think she's already a step ahead of you." "I hate when you're right." "Heh. Of course you do. Just ask her out, you big idiot." "No promises." The doorbell of CiRCLE rings, and in walks Lisa herself, dressed in her usual casualwear plus a fluffy beige coat and small messenger bag to serve as her purse. "Hiya, Lisa!" Kasumi says, turning to wave to her. Lisa gives an enthusiastic wave back, complete with her signature smile, before heading on over to where Marina and Seth are milling about." "Hey, you two! How was it?" Lisa asks, bubbly as ever. "Smashing success. Initial sounded fantastic." Seth replies. Marina nods in agreement. "Do you need help with anything, Marina? Just while I'm here, you know." "Nope. You're free to go." Marina nudges Seth in the arm as a sort of "go have fun on your date" message. "Okay! You ready, Seth?" "I've never baked before, but I'm sure I can figure it out." Seth finishes his tea and begins to walk out of CiRCLE with Lisa, throwing away his cup near the door. "Seth!" Marina calls as he's just about to exit. Seth, as well as Lisa, turn around, to see Marina giving an enthusiastic thumbs-up to her sound engineer. Seth replies with a thumbs-down, to which Marina shakes her head. Seth and Lisa turn back around. "What was that?" Lisa asks. "Dunno." Seth shrugs, and the two of them continue walking towards Lisa's place. [bandori 'five minutes later' introduction card] "-So I guess there were some hitches with Kasumi's vocals at the end, but I think that's 'cause I set the gain too high and just forgot to change it. Like- their vocals all go into separate channels, so there's no way I would've, like, turned it up for Rimi's part and forgot to have changed it, but, like, who knows." "I'm glad it went well, though. Didja have fun?" "Oh- yeah, of course. I'm kinda sad you weren't able to be there for Initial. it was fuckin' great." "I know, right? I remember hearing it when you drove me to school the other day. Which, by the way- thank you." "Oh, no problem. And Garret says I drive the Slowbalt..." Seth sighs, remembering how the two of them still arrived to school at eight despite Lisa saying she was running over that morning. Lisa laughs, and the two of them continue walking until Lisa pipes up as they reach her house. "Um, Seth?" Lisa stops walking, and Seth follows suit. "Yeah?" "Can we talk? It's nothing bad, I promise." "Huh? Yeah, sure. What's poppin'?" "Well... Yukina might get mad at me for doing this, but... I really like you. And I was wondering... if you wanted to be my boyfriend?" "Uh- I mean- I, uh- hm." "Sorry." "No, no! I just- I don't want to get you kicked out of Roselia. okay okay okay i really want to know and sorry if you’ve answered this, in the kasumi au is katsuki’s grandma still around?? is she going to yell at darling izuku for coming back into katsuki’s life?? because idk if i can handle sad izuku. your prequel snippets already broke my heart T_T
hi anon!!!!!
good question!!!!! the v v v v simple and short answer is unfortunately yes :(((((( but this time izuku isn’t alone anymore he GOT KASUMI AND KASUMI WILL LITERALLY GO TO WAR FOR HER PAPA (ง’̀-‘́)ง.
long answer: she’s currently residing in okinawa with the former emperor (katsuki’s grandpa) after handing the reign of the entire country to katsuki once katsuki proved himself that he could do it. her only despair that he hasn’t gotten married and give her a grandchild yet to continue their bloodline :PPP. SO MUCH TO HER SHOCK when katsuki introduced kasumi to the public she blasted him over the phone about having a bastard child, not connecting right away that kasumi is IZUKU AND KATSUKI’S. she’s just kinda happy that katsuki isn’t impotent like all the rumors suggest lmao and still holding out the hope that he settle down with someone in the future and produce a male heir bc a woman can’t become empress (lol tell that to kasumi).
her next shock come months later when katsuki FINALLY introduced izuku as his bf and the other father of his one and only daughter. the only reason the public doesn’t know about izuku bc izuku insisted not being made public bc he wants to protect kasumi and katsuki!!!! the things he did in the past to survive and raised kasumi as a single parent... he’s not ashamed of it but he knows it’s damaging if they ever find out about it :(((((((((. so yea, izuku was willing to stay in the shadow and not be acknowledged at all if it means kasumi and katsuki are happy. NOT THAT THEY FUCKING CARE!!!!!! LOL the two of them may be at odds at time but they both agreed that izuku IS the tie that bind the two of them together and they won’t ever let izuku feels like he should hide bc of his past when he’s AN AWESOME FUCKING FATHER who raised such a kick ass daughter all by himself >:[[[[[.
anyway, yea i have all these arc going for this ‘verse and if i ever get around to updating the main fic it’s going to uh interesting lol.
thanks for asking anon!!!!
#series: kasumi vs the world#i dont think granny is like EVIL i think she just loves her family SO MUCH that she became misguided#and she's a product of her time#i have this essay break down on her motivations and reasons for what she does#based on japanese culture and how orphans are heavily discriminated upon#and royalty are perceived to only marry those w/ privilege#and not some random orphan....#BUT NOT RIGHT NOW#got to finish this fic first ughhhhh#im like so close that i might pull an allnighter for this as;djfa;sf#Anonymous

5, 8, 9, and 10 for the Mass Effect asks!
5. Paragon, Renegade or neutral?
Neutral! (really paragon but with a lot of renegade sprinkled in there lol)
8. Share a headcanon about your main Shepard.
Neneng’s last name isn’t really shepard. She was self conscious that her name sounded “too ethnic” with her very obvious tagalog last name so she changed it. I think the Philippines would still have a very heavy catholic influence that far into the future. So she was seeking refuge in a church and got inspired by the phrase “The lord is my shepherd”. She spelled it wrong because, ya know, she grew up on the streets.
9. Share a headcanon about your Shepard and their LI.
I think I may have mentioned this before? So Kaidan noticed that Neneng was a little down because of homesickness. Being the good bf that he is, he thought what better way to help than get Neneng a garland of sampaguita. It’s the national flower of the Philippines so the smell would remind her of home. She can keep it on her desk or something and when she’s feeling homesick, she can can just sniff it, right? A fool proof plan! But you can’t really get one unless you go to earth. So the next best thing was to requisition a synthetic version that was almost as good as the real thing and have it sent to the Normandy. When he got it, he was so so happy. He was so certain that Neneng would love it! He gives it to her and as soon as the smell reaches her nose she gags.
When Neneng was growing up on the streets of edsa, she had to sell the sampaguita garlands to make money as you do when you’re a poor kid in the Philippines. The smell of them just reminds her of those days, especially the hots ones, walking around car to car just making sure she had enough to at least get through the night. Just her and the garlands every day and night before she was old enough to start doing stuff for the reds. The smell would stay on her no matter how much she washed. She grew a strong disdain for the sampaguita.
So it was kind of awkward explaining the whole thing to Kaidan and Neneng feeling really guilty for hurting his feelings and gagging out of reflex. She appreciated the thought though but she couldn’t keep the garland and paid Kaidan back no matter how much he insisted that it wasn’t necessary.
10. Who is your Shepard’s best friend and why?
Kasumi! The two of them really clicked! Plus Neneng really liked having another asian person in her inner circle.
Mass Effect Asks
#thanks for asking and ur patience in my answering late!#trans-aloth#ask#religion mention#lol i went kind awf on the kaideng headcanon#kaideng

some kasumi things
Okay, so @ebumimasaru & I were thinking about fluffy Kasuga & Sumiyoshi things, so have some headcanons about Kasumi nighttime bike rides (& some general dating hcs). B)
Hyosu's the 1st Kasuga tells about his getting his motorcycle. And Kasuga debates about whether it's a good idea to invite Sumiyoshi for a ride--thank gods Hyosu sighs and tells him yes, despite Kasuga gettin' huffy with him.
But Kasuga makes it special. He buys Sumiyoshi his own helmet, and, the night of Sumiyoshi's bday, after dindin and stuff but before midnight, Kasuga rides to his house and beckons Sumiyoshi down. Sumiyoshi thinks his bf is just showing off the new bike, so his surprise is so cute and real when Kasuga hands him his very own helmet and tells him to hop on ('cuz lbh Kasuga never asks but orders XD). Sumiyoshi's so stupefied, he does as told, and they're out riding for a good ten, 15 min before Kasuga realizes "oh fuck I have to return him," 'cuz it felt so natural, the two of them literally riding off...not into the sunset, but y'know. It's a bit embarrassing, but Sumiyoshi notices and decides not to poke fun this time around. The ride and the helmet are Sumiyoshi's fav gifts that yr.
Hyosu being Kasuga's reluctant wing man. Like. Kasuga always second-guesses the sweet things he really wants to do for Sumi, so he checks with Hyosu, like "bro is this too gay" and Hyosu just rolls his eyes, like "no just do it stop being stupid."
Sumiyoshi's favorite thing bout dating Kasuga is knowing that he has complete control of every situation despite having Kasuga act big and macho and bossing him around.
Kasuga's fav thing is thinking he's got this down and knows how to date Sumiyoshi...but there's soooo much to learn. Honestly, tho, despite being a take-charge guy, he likes that there's so much to learn about Sumiyoshi and with Sumiyoshi. Makes sense since he likes having as much knowledge as possible when on the field so he can play his role--why not off the field, too?
Sumiyoshi is kind of the mischievous type to want to "condition" Kasuga a bit, for shits & giggles, to see if he can. So when Kasuga gets something right, like getting the door for him or walking at a pace Sumiyoshi can match, Sumiyoshi rewards him with little hand squeezes at first. Later on, he feels a bit bolder, and the rewards are hidden smoochies.
As for whether Kasuga ever catches on to the conditioning...prolly not. XD
And, like a good trainer, Sumiyoshi withholds treats sometimes and enjoys Kasuga's little pouts when he doesn't get kisses.
Sumiyoshi is an interesting guy, tho. He's not easily pleased but easily amused. Kasuga never knows which way is up.

So with Kasumi’s mindset, how do you think she would feel about SEES and the IT? Would she be more accepting bc their methods aren’t as morally grey compared to the PTs? Or would she still feel the same way since all 3 still rely on supernatural forces?
I think she’d be fine with SEES/IT, and it’s probably 1) yeah they aren’t as morally grey, and 2) Supernatural issues are needing to be solved with supernatural means, P5 isn’t really a supernatural issue completely, 3) SEES/IT are true shadow heroes, no one knows about them while the PT people do kinda (so it’s not like SEES/IT are showboating, I mean she’d probs be annoyed with Junpei’s hero problem that got his team in trouble but that’s as far as it goes, as for the IT they feel like heroes but they don’t demand recognition like the PT do).
SEES and IT are both working on the same side as the police, PT are not.
SEES need to clean up a supernatural experiment gone wrong, only way to do that is via supernatural means. They are also the ONLY ONES who can fix it (cause everybody be a coffin during that time), there’s no way around it.
IT, you could argue that they should/could get the police involved from the beginning, but......tbh that could probably lead to a nation wide panic attack (think about a supernatural world on the other side of your TV, I think that would get people worried). We also see the issues involved in getting Adachi prosecuted cause of all the supernatural stuff, it’s also possible they could be putting more people in danger getting normal police involved where they can help people who became victims of supernatural means, via solving it with their supernatural powers. Basically, getting the police involved early on could’ve easily ended up being a shit show if the writers wanted to, so the IT thinking “Well we have powers they don’t have, we can solve it, not like they can prove anything anyways so it’s kinda all up to use to solve it.”
PT? Teacher is an asshole, Yakuza are criming, and a CEO is abusing their employees. Nothing supernatural about it! These are all very normal (by which I mean “non-supernatural”) things, and can potentially be solved in non-supernatural ways. Ways that SEES/IT couldn’t solve their problems, because if SEES/IT don’t solve it using supernatural means, then people will die. Yes, P5 makes it so that it seems near impossible to take these bad guys down, but that doesn’t mean it is impossible. She probs respects the people who have the balls to stand up against these people, even if they end up hurt in the end, imo I think she thinks those people are the true heroes.
But yeah P5′s ways are.....very morally grey, and can lead towards black if you look at it in certain ways. I don’t think she HATES them, she says she doesn’t care for them tho, which means she probably just doesn’t like them, or at least is not willing to worship the ground they walk on.
I think she’d also like SEES/IT due to how they both confront their own issues head on without the needs for supernatural means. See kids being bullied? Step in. See Naoto might get shanked by a knife? Step in. Paparazzi bugging Yukiko/her inn? Tell them to back off. Cops bothering Kanji? Back him up. Having issues in your life? MC will listen and maybe guide you, but they will ultimately change their issues themselves. Everyone solves their issues on their own, or if they have help, they don’t take the easy way out they still confront it. P5 doesn’t do that for the most part, besides a few PT CoOps (and I think Sun, cause Sun is a BAMF, tbh he and Kasumi fit the theme of “do it yourself, accept the consequences of your actions” from what we have so far), everything is solved via stealing hearts, the person doesn’t change their situation themselves. And when it comes to the PT who don’t resort to supernatural stuff to solve their problems, it makes you wonder WHY DON’T YOU JUST DO THAT???? (unless it’s so minor or it’d make no sense to do that, like with Anne/Mika, Mika’s being an ass to Anne but like not enough to justify a change of heart, and the find out too late that Mika was doing to the other models so it’s....yeah why bother when it’s already been dealt with) Makoto suspicious of her friend’s new bf? Get the info you need to look for his Shadow and steal his heart if you need to. Haru’s issues on who to trust at her company? Get the info you need to look for their shadows and question them. Haru’s issues with her fiances? Steal his heart. Suspicious of the guy talking to Yusuke? Get his name and question his Shadow. Ryuji’s issues with the new track coach? FREAKING STEAL HIS HEART LIKE OMG???? Like play smarter not harder P5, everyone on the team is so gung-ho on stealing hearts but when it comes to their CoOps it’s like “Wait I can do that to solve my problems????” Like if the PT want to realize they can solve shit without supernatural stuff, do it in the main story line, don’t put it in the side story where it’ll conflict with the main story. And that’s not the only time we get conflicting stuff about stealing hearts between the main story and the CoOps. Like shit, Makoto is out there being like “it’s too selfish of me to ask to change my sister’s heart, even tho she’s in a position that could hurt people if not changed” but at the same time we have greedy Futaba over here being like “yeah I’d like an order of 3 heart changes, 1 for the main story and 2 for CoOps please.” Can I just get some consistency here P5? If we’re going to have these two mindsets you could at least have some headbutting between the characters over it. DX
-Ahem- But yeah.......sorry got a little side track about a writing thing with P5, but it was slightly on topic (cause if I didn’t talk about it a bit more in detail someone would say “But Anne/*insert character* solved her’s without the need for stealing hearts” and it’s like yea but why not just steal hearts? I mean they already have that mindset it’s seems odd to just not do it).

short and probably incomplete list of platonic ships/brotps bc whyyyynot
(also i keep forgetting some of them and dont want to ;n; )
brovocados (w schuu)- i havent worked out the details as much w this one as the others but my self insert tends to try and look out for schuu, making sure he gets enough rest and even offering to lend him her room a few times so he doesn’t have to sleep on the couch when he seems like he’s getting sick. though by the end of the season they get a lot closer, and she wholeheartedly supports him in his musical and self loving endeavors
shsl neighbors (w juzo)- katsuko briefly met juzo when she was trying to get into hopes peak, but they didn’t talk much until they ended up living next door to each other after the despair incident (probably across the hall in an apartment building or something). they slowly begin to interact more and she encourages him to not guilt himself about his feelings and past.
cinnamon honey (w fern)- kasumi meets him early on in her time in the world of fe15, and despite that he has no idea where she’s from they develop an unexpected teamup when she helps heal him. though eventually going separate ways they possibly meet up again, and despite the conflicts in their world just spending time together cheers both of them up.
*unnamed as of now* (w del)- imean this one’s more familial but kasumi befriending the little sister of her bf, del helping her get more confident with her own (healing) magic, her trying to be a good role model for this kiddo
*unnamed as of now* (w gbf lancelot)- kisumi is the assigned guard to watch lancelot in the koafk, but ends up chatting with the prisoner, especially when he looks so downcast. she tries to bring better food and drink to him, and tell him things of what’s going on in the kingdom if it will make him feel better. they probably meet up again once he’s escaped, and she’s probably the friend he mentions helping him sneak out in the halloween dialogue. though its not a super close friendship given the circumstances the two of them do often have a fun time catching up when they do meet.
misc jojo ones
misc fgo ones- dr ritsus perfect history class- basically the main characters that would have a platonic relationship w the ritsus are
dr roman- both ritsus look up to him as a mentor and admire him greatly. despite his laidback and sometimes silly personality they find him an inspiration and try their hardest to keep up with him.
mashu- the ritsus are protective of her like a younger sister. her smile lights up their worlds and they would do anything to ensure her future and happiness.
gudako (main character)- they believe the survival of the two of them to be due to gudako’s influence and call her their ‘savior’. though as time goes on she’s slowly able to convince them to see her as just a regular person who wants to just be friends. they get a bit protective over mashu when she’s with gudako but eventually are completely supportive of the two of them
gudao (nanashi)- when he arrives they aren’t sure what to expect at first, but the hardworking and accident prone young man catches their hearts with his selfless nature, they see him as a little brother-ish and try to make sure he doesn’t beat himself up too much
gordolf- the two of them, upon the arrival of the new director and subsequent escape from near death, vow to protect this director like they feel they failed to the previous one. they act very encouraging towards gordolf, but in their efforts to be helpful they might actually be overwhelming.

YEAR END FIC REVIEW
This year I wrote:
biological imperative
wings of icarus
war of the roses
sugar, we’re going down
you are cordially invited...
garden of eden
your kiss tastes so red
hana to ryuu
a demolition boy & his cryptid bf
the fox’s bride
when dandelion roars
hope is a four letter word
butterfly pinned under glass
the devil and the deep blue sea
vol 1: goodbye halcyon days
papa said to knock you out
my boy builds coffin
love meme, hate meme
interlude: paper darling
in rouge
at the feet of the world
that’s 21 stories (124k words!!!) and that’s discounting all the random fic snippets that i wrote only on tumblr so far.
Overall thoughts
My actual writing year didn’t really start until like in May which mean the bulk of my writing was in the last half of the year. I spent most of the first half reposting and moving my eunhae fic over to ao3 so I didn’t actually have any new fic to post (even tho i was prob still writing away with random fic ideas anyway but no actual completed fic to post) until I wrote BI for bakudeku and that pretty much sealed the deal for me. New fandom, new pairing, and new obsession. Honestly coming in I was worry how slow I was writing and how I didn’t get much done but looking at my fic list and my wordcounts and HOW I DID IT ALL IN HALF A YEAR... im pretty impress with myself :D.
Also, I think it’s a good time as any to finally realize and accept when you finally move on to a new fandom. So thank you v v v v much to my old fandom for nurturing me and helping me grow as i writer these past five years. You made every eunhae fic worth it, thank you again!!!!
My best story of the year
“A demolition boy & his cryptid bf” if all the kudoes that keep on coming tell me. Here’s a random tidbit about it: i wrote it all in like 2-3 days in some sort of mad spur. social media style fic was something i did for eunhae before so it wasn’t new to me so i guess that’s why it came easy enough LOL but this was little more intensive just bc i wanted it look even better but im sooooo glad ppl were so accepting of it despite the style of the fic and the way it was format. you guys rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gave me enough confident to start “love meme, hate meme” even tho im pretty sure i was going to do it anyway lol.
My favorite story of the year
“love meme, hate meme,” only bc it is my masterpiece in term of how fucking damn pretty it is and how much blood, sweat, and tears i poured into it just to get that damn FONT COLOR RIGHT.
Most fun story to write
“papa said to knock you out” aka kasumi ‘verse only bc she literally wrote herself. her voice come clear and true to me and i had such a fun time writing in her pov!! it also plays into my dumb romcom trope that i always love bc royalty au? CHECK? single parents? CHECK CHECK? past secret love affair? CHEEEEEEEECK. it’s just all so damn cliche and it’s me to T and i fucking love it.
Story with the single sexiest moment
“In Rouge” played with a lot of things i love where it borders on sexy/intimate without crossing the line. like im 90% sure bakudeku were going to bang in the restroom but the fact that it’s THE RESTROOM IN THEIR SCHOOL and katsuki is damn good bf and wouldn’t want their first time in that shitty place so yea hands to themselves. but honestly i don’t do smut/nsfw but i always tread the water with it lol with my kink fics bc i am kinky v v v much so but i do in a way that is comfortable with me without dealing with explicit sex and im really glad i get to show off that in my fic bc sexy doesn’t alway have to lead up to sex ya know????
Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
"my boy builds coffin” a katsuki that kill sends shiver down to spine but man writing it and thinking what push him over the edge was exciting only bc i love my fluff in general but i highkey love dark and edgy stuff too esp super dysfunctional relationship, yo.
Story that shifted my own perception of the characters
"My boy builds coffin” for sure. Only because I wanted to stretch how Katsuki would fall and understand the length he would go to ensure a future where izuku is alive and thriving and I THOUGHT man if your future bf who is this scarred and traumatized individual person come back in time to protect you by killing every fucking thing that hurt you and instead of freaking the fuck out you’re like “um, IM SO JEALOUS OF MY FUTURE SELF TO HAVE THIS PERSON DEDICATE THEIR LIFE TO THEM” and im like fuck bc that’s the kind of fucked upness that i love.
Hardest story to write
if it isn’t “love meme, hate meme” than THIS IS YEAR IS FUCKING CANCEL. the formatting, juggling a gazillion of usernames, the font color and text, THE FANFIC ARCHIVE etc everything i have to carefully format and code even tho i have extremely and bullshit knowledge of it.
Biggest disappointment
nothing???? i love ALL MY BABIES. but no really that fucking mad max au im writing and was supposed to be posted yest.... DAMN YOU.
Biggest surprise
Uh, “demolition boy” and probably “kasumi verse” only bc i never intend for either of them to happen :P.
Most unintentionally telling story
the vampire fic my entire reason for writing it is so I CAN PROCRASTINATE ON THE ACTUAL FI IM SUPPOSED TO BE WRITING. i wrote it all in one sitting passed waaaay into the AMs. that’s... some dedication to my procrastination.
Story I haven't written yet, but intend to
the age gap abo childhood friends au i have been working on the side :S.
Goals for this year:
Finished all my major projects (kasumi ‘verse, wedding verse, social media au, stepbro au)
hopefully i can get started on gasoline verse aka the post zombie fest where bakudeku tried to survived it by building the most codependent fucked up relationship possible :D; it’s letting your bf become a ‘zombie’ just bc you can’t live without him
WRITE AT LEAST ONE TODODEKUBAKU FIC!!!!!
thank you soooooo much for putting up with this year!!!! i know im really bad at replying/commenting and interacting with you guys but i want you to all know i feel incredibly blessed and humble by all your kindness and support. you all treated me so well last year and this year I hope to return your kind gesture by giving you more stories to read in 2019!!! :D
