What is your opinion on Winx Club and it's art direction?

Honestly I never watched Winx Club growing up, so my frame of reference for it isn't particularly intimate. But just looking at the characters, it's clear there's a bit of Sameface and Samebody Syndrome going on.

The art style's certainly unique for a Western kids' show, and there's a nice variety of bright colors. But man, I hate to think what kinds of messages the show's young target audience took away from these designs. If all kids see in their media are tall, impossibly skinny bodies portrayed as desirable, they'll wonder why their own bodies don't match. And creators should be especially sensitive to this when they're making shows for girls, since media bombards them with a host of beauty standards to measure up to (and it's not like I'm any kind of expert in child psychology, but I'd wager the advent of social media hasn't helped matters). So it frankly didn't surprise me to learn that this show was created by a dude.

Look, I'm not saying men can't be mindful of the effects media can have on girls, nor am I saying men and boys never deal with their own body image issues. But if you're making a show with a majority-female cast, maybe consult some women about their designs-? In the credits of the first episode there are two feminine names listed as character designers (Michele Lilli and Andrea Pulito), but they appear to be outnumbered by twice as many men. (Though apparently those names can be masculine in Italian, so it's possible Michele and Andrea are men as well. Too bad their IMDB pages don't list pronouns for them.)

And according to Winx Club's Wikipedia page, after a pilot that was unsatisfying to the creator, the team hired fashion designers to revamp the characters. At first I thought this would explain the girls' proportions (it's common practice in fashion design to draw slim, taller-than-average figures with elongated legs), but the concept art from the pilot tells a different story. Even before the fashion designers came aboard, all the girls had the same tall, skinny physique.

Not that there's anything wrong with being tall and skinny- hell, I'm a beanpole myself! But when all your characters have the exact same body type, whatever that may be, it leaves out so much human variety and just looks repetitive as a result. It's boring. And on top of that, it creates a visual impression that these characters are interchangeable with little to no individuality. The girls do have their own distinct personalities in the show (I ended up watching the entirety of Season 1 for this post), but those personalities don't come across well in still images.

It'd help if they were posed in ways that showcased their individual traits rather than just... "feminine and vaguely playful" across the board. Where's Stella's cockiness, Flora's kindness, Musa's sarcasm, Techna's logic? I'm wondering if the fashion designers sketched out these poses as well, because they seem much better suited to displaying clothes than demonstrating character.

(To make matters worse, there's a point in the show where the girls look like literal clones. This screenshot where they're all wearing the same outfit really highlights just how little body diversity they have.)

And what's bonkers about the faces looking so extremely similar is that creator Iginio Straffi based these characters on real women-? Namely Britney Spears for Bloom, Cameron Diaz for Stella, Jennifer Lopez for Flora, Pink for Techna, Lucy Liu for Musa, and Beyonce for Aisha. Here's how they all looked around the time of Winx Club's development:

And here's how I'd use the photos as a starting point to make each character's face stand out more.

They seriously couldn't have just leaned in to what made each face unique rather than painting them all with the same brush?

I get it, drawing all the characters with the same base makes it easier to keep them on model (and I imagine it keeps things cost-effective when making toys of them). But good god, you couldn't have treated them as actual characters rather than paper dolls for the fashion of the week?

From what I saw of the show, it's fine. It's passable. I fully accept that I'm not the target audience for it, but it's not bad for what it is. Could use a ton more character development, though, both in the designs and the writing. In any case, I'm glad that present-day animated shows seem to be evolving past cookie-cutter character design.

To close this out, here's something that I absolutely should not be able to get away with:

P. Diddy Scandal: celebrities trying to warn us.

There are so many theories I believe on lyrics that might be laughable for some of y’all, but I don’t care, I want to share them with you.

So, first of all, let’s start with Eminem’s song “Fuel” which came out a few months ago with his latest album “The Death of Slim Shady”.

“I’m like a R-A-P-E-R (yeah), Got so many S-As (S-As), S-As (huh), Wait, he didn’t just spell the word ‘Rapper’ and leave out a P, did he? (Yep),”

I believe that this is a reference to Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, after he was charged with racketeering and sex trafficking. It makes sense, just look; Eminem cunningly morphs "essay" into "SA" an acronym frequently used online for sexual assault. Moreover, dropping a P from "rapper" gives you "raper". Also note that "P, did he? " resonates remarkably like "P. Diddy."

Now, I want to move on Justin Bieber. Since his complicated relationship with P. Diddy is really difficult and gut wrenching story, I won’t discus it here.

Everyone thought his song “Yummy” was innocent and all until now. The clip makes sense. So, the music video starts with Justin walking through some creepy hallways. He walks into a dining hall and first thing we see is a group of little kids playing instruments in front of the mic, but in the end we hear the high pitched sound that a mic makes when someone drags it and those kids are nowhere in sight. Throughout the video, we see grown, rich people eating with absolutely zero respect, if I can word it like this, and in the end of the video there’s also a plate with young Justin Bieber with the text ‘Yummy’ underneath, which, I believe, is a reference to older people in the industry using young Justin as their doll. In the video there’s also this one scene, where two women dressed in white dance next to him.

I, being my usual self, also caught on this little thing in his song “Baby”. When he’s singing “Baby, baby, baby oh” it could have been a reference to ‘baby oil’ but that’s probably the stupidest thing you’ll ever hear, just me being delusional.

I want to talk about Kanye West as well. In his song “Famous” we see mannequins lying on the big white bed from Diddy’s White Parties, which suspiciously looks like Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Kim Kardashian and some more. Kanye also said once "They tryna suppress me because they can't control me, they can control Shaq, they can control LeBron James, they can control Jay-Z and Beyonce. But they can't control me.

I don't care about who you are but l'm not taking advice from nobody except God, he's the only person I serve. My mum is not here, she was sacrificed, Michael Jordan, what about him? Dr Dre and his son,

People started calling him crazy for this, but he also said “I just tell the truth, and telling the truth is crazy in a world full of lies. That’s simply it.”

His interview, the one when he says “If I ever go missing and come back, it’s not me,” went viral. After that he took a seven week break and came back with a totally different face. You don’t just go missing and come back out of nowhere, suddenly looking different and dressing different. I don’t know about you, but I believe that the real Kanye is dead and that’s just a clone.

The next song I’m going to yap about is “She Knows” by J Cole, which has been banned for some reason on YouTube in USA.

The theory suggests that title of this song is a subtle nod to Beyonce’s last name "Knowles," and accuses the rapper of being complicit in alleged crimes involving Diddy and Jay-Z.

A specific part of the song is referencing the deaths of Aaliyah, Left Eye, and Michael Jackson in the first bridge:

"Only bad thing 'bout a star is they burn up. Rest in peace to Aaliyah, Rest in peace to Left Eye, Michael Jackson, I'll see ya, Just as soon as I die."

For those who don't know, these three are some of the people who knew about Diddy’s horrible doings.

Apparently, Diddy sent people out to kill them or he would just pay their doctors to give them the wrong medication to make them die because they knew too much about what he did. And pay attention to this line "I’ll see ya, Just as soon as I die". In my opinion, J Cole thinks he's gonna die next cuz he knows too much too…

There’s also a theory about Beyonce, that she would torture or something like that if another female artist would win a Grammy.

Many celebrities thanked Beyonce on stage, and doesn’t it look suspicious? And back then, Beyonce was more popular then Taylor Swift, and when Taylor won a Grammy Kayne West jumped on the stage and said Beyonce deserved it better, and he did it in order to save Taylor and it worked. Many people say it’s delusional, but just think for a second; why Beyonce and not any other artist? If any female artist thanked someone completely different, it’s Beyonce. Why? Why not someone other?

She has the most Grammys. Beyonce has thirty-fucking-two Grammys, do you know how much that is?!? The whole family together has 57 Grammys, because Jay-Z has 24 and their daughter Blue Ivy has one too for appearing in her mother’s music video!! If this is not crazy, y’all are crazy for sure.

There’s also a SIA’s old tweet that says: "Baby, everything your own nice cat eats. Kangaroo is dead, nowhere and purple penguins every day. My egg.” The first letters say ‘Beyonce kidnapped me’. However, I don’t know whether or not it’s fake, I won’t start proving this is real.

I can’t not say something about Michael Jackson’s last phone call. When he said “Not the government, it’s bigger than the government. They are a group of people,” that was what he meant.

Oh, and for the people who believe in the magic of numbers, P. Diddy, Beyonce and Jay-Z were born in 4th of something, and Aaliyah, Left Eye and MJ died at 25th of something.

I don’t know what y’all believe or not, but I do believe all of these.

I think it's crazy that the early TCW stuff just expects you to take Anakin's wisdom to Ahsoka completely seriously as if he's not been shown to be THE hypocritical tragic character who falls during the live-action movies.

It's just too sudden! I need an easier transition from understanding Anakin as "yeah this guy has made bad decisions and consistently has the wrong idea of things" to "he's a valid and trustworthy older figure". If we're going with Ahsoka's POV (which might be suggested since Anakin's past with Tatooine is never described to her) they need to at least set the scene about how she perceives Anakin, so the audience can also follow along.

Give her some sort of small "expectations vs. reality" arc where we get a sense of what she thinks of Anakin before joining him as his Padawan. Because I do genuinely think keeping Ahsoka in the dark about Anakin's Last Time On Tatooine is a very interesting base for a character! It's doing the dramatic irony shit the prequels love milking, and it helps us understand why Ahsoka may have such a positive view of her Master, contrary to the audiences'.

Also this is no longer about Taylor's dating history at all, she can go ahead date other clones of Matty. This about her as a person. Her performative acts have never been more in contrast compared to the rest of artists from Hayley to Olivia and everyone who actually have valid opinions and actively do something to create a safe space. Taylor the kind goofy friend is just a fake persona to sell albums and horde money, she's no different from the actual shitty people cuz she's just a silent enabler through all this. So I hope everyone understands that this is not anymore about who she dates after this rebound or not, she's just the one who never ever actually does anything valid to stand up for people she supposedly said she did and it's only putting on an act to make money and become famous. There's no need to release so many exclusive versions of albums for no reason other than record sales and money, honestly I'm so happy this happened cuz all this time i was so in love with her music cuz I was so proud of her raising up as an artist's and reinventing herself but wow the actual reality is just disappointing

this was never about her personal life, it was about her showing her true colors through the means of it, it was a vessel for her to show her morals, or lack there of. she hasn't spoken up on 75% of the things matty was problematic and vocally horrible about and the stuff she said she stood for (barely) he also was against, so what is it?

Taylor is literally the only mainstream big artist to not have a strong stance politically right now. She sticks out a lot and not in a good way. Olivia, Beyonce, Hayley, Billie, Selena, Halsey, etc all speak out regularly about things and she doesnt. Her silence is very obvious compared to everyone else. So that silnce compared to her peers PLUS her dating someone with a bad history of terrible behavior makes her look very very bad.

its kinda. him waking up in this new world struggling to adapt, thinking he's the last of his kind, thinking that he lost all his brothers. struggling to reconcile his identity as a medic with all these brothers he couldnt save. he gets involved fighting the first order. and then! in comes the winter solider. a mysterious figure thats plagued the galaxy for decades now. dipping in and out disappearing like a ghost. something about the story draws kix in and he finds himself doing more research. surprised to find that this killer fights like a clone. now he's even more interested. which of his brother trained this ghost? then he fights him and the guys mask falls off. and its kix's brother. kix realises that he must be controlled by the chip and has been being held in stasis between missions. then. its kix trying to save his brother. rn im thinking fox for the winter soldier figure but i have been playing round with him being another medic or possibly rex.
